gearing up again this year and hopefully meeting regularly starting soon as possible and what I would like if I may or front first to send out an email to the community inviting new parents who don't know about that but advisory Council sharing with the community surgery capping one of our recommendations were from last year what her goals are going forward and inviting new members of the community as we know that visor Council was started initially out of the inclusion inclusion respecting diversity task force and the goal for that was a little different than the scope that is so I'm starting to address now so going because of the family lions taking on the address thing lately imminent danger to or imminent threat to our undocumented ornaments that is family we moved the directions to a more broader scope bring all of our students in the community may feel marginalized so I'm just expressing those new golden intentions for the inviting new members to join would be a great idea and so I attended cancel of Iona and had the privilege of being at the measure K food and talking to some community members and getting a lot of Conforti feedback that we have to consider and then play I was at the district food representing our wonderful district and meeting a lot of families who said that they're new to the district or I'm excited about coming here or just reminding me yet again and they moved here because of the schools and I have the flu kids off to school I'm officially up for different yes I have a brand new high schooler to middle schoolers a fourth grader and a preschooler and I couldn't be more proud I was on my family is covered go expert free public education and thank you for the work that you did to make sure that we have a brand new track in overtime thank you Willits welcome back to improve Steph Curry breaking people talk about it ready so I can do you want to say more about the implicit bias training because my biggest concern going into that was it's easy to show people that we all have put spices but it's hard to do anything about it because they requested Kenwood what happened to the spur-of-the-moment In You by the time you thinking back oh I should have said and done something different is over I thought this training seems like they've had a really smart approach for that to my board members in Topeka they're what they did is they did an improv where they had students and a t-shirt download skit where there was clearly a problem by is going on and they had us the audience with the actors out of the room come up with a whole bunch of suggestions for what could have been done differently and they chose other than they act out and they walk through in head-to-head everybody to respond respond in that situation you really got to show you this is what you can do about it this is how you going to behave differently in his truck and fishing the West I thought it was a really great way to do that it's effective it's hard to know if those things are are affected and advancement sure seem like that was a really good way to teach people very attentive teaching experience as well yesterday I was at the scoop or two really great really excited about how it's going to work out now and use it for the year I wanted to highlight you have a partnership meeting coming up and one of our key things were going to look at it and watch things to talk about though one of them is figure out a way for teenagers to sleep later and we're going to talk about that as well enough coming for meeting in September 11th board meeting I know there's not a lot of people in the audience but maybe the world would get help if I say this year I think it's really important people come to that board meeting to talk about the issue not to come to say I really want my kid to sleep later before I hate the idea of starting school later but they come with here's what the problems are here's what the solutions are here's what we can do about it it's good to get the opinion of the community but I think virtually everybody acknowledges that teenagers not we sleep late it would be better if we could figure out a way for a teenager to get more sleep the issues are available bunch of things we have to solve to make that happen I'm committed to solving those things but I'm really hoping to come to that for being they come with ideas and such of course it's an informational I know you will obviously have our own information is being presented but I'm talking about the audience I want to talk and finally I wanted to say a little bit the school board election that's coming out in November anybody who hasn't noticed yet we have three seats and three candidates the great candidates to eat supper and then I met I think she's terrific and she'll be a great School Board number and of course it's easier for me if I don't have to go run a campaign but I'd rather live in a community where we have people stepping up and saying I want to be on the school board great job and you want to serve the community and are willing to go through the whole campaign to do that there's been some discussion about one of the reasons I don't know we had when we had to appoint somebody when we want to play in summer we had  video every single one of them was best application ever but there was certainly plenty of applicants who I sure would have made really good school board members and one you did make a really good support number only one of those applicants went through running as you're putting the papers actually run in and campaign or to Summer obviously  campaign for actually get them get to the keeping I think that's a problem for a community I don't know if it's people are intimidated by the fact that sometimes people say nasty stuff love you when you're running for office or it's the back then we have to raise a lot of money you have to ask a bunch of your friends and people you don't know when strangers to help or whatever but I would like all of us give me to think about what's the problem that I think it was maybe nobody's running because they think we're doing a perfect job and they don't leave so I just wanted to raise that issue in hopes of November okay well that sounds cool because you guys all set everything I want to say so welcome I will just Skip One Note a special welcome to this team in particular I'm just I'm so super super optimistic about this year feel like we are really going to do some damage in the best way possible and make moves for these babies that have that have maybe had to wait too long because it's other Transitions and other fires that needed to be put out but now we are all stable and ready to hit the ground running and we're all really committed and again you know so much Vision in common so I'm really really looking forward to all of you I just will say that about the School Board race and the fact that there is no raise what that means is that Sean mckeithen dr. Stephen Levin and miss summer McBride me to say entire email list to miss panel air and dr. Kelly can't we will then be inviting every single person on those list to help with another campaign after that we are undergoing right now which is really important for a school district help stain ability so please do so because we need those guys so Fiesta was wonderful the only thing that hasn't been discussed as the Baldwin Hills camp meeting that that's 11 and I attended together but I actually the update is simply that we are continuing to proceed with a another Health assessment that we hope will take place in our neighborhood on the impacts of fact no drilling Americana community property and then there was a delegation from South Korea here over the summer and there was some School District participation in school district tours South Bay maybe everybody music okay I was also in Minnesota this summer, but I did hang out with that delegation so we have the Culver City sister city Committee in one of her sister cities is stuck on South Korea and they came and visit and we spent some really nice time with him it's a wonderful tradition that that Culver City has to have these exchanges of students back and forth between the various cities and it was a wonderful opportunity and I did I tried to represent us. take me to OneNote of business we've received an invitation that is really well suited to some pork that is already happening at the high school which is as everyone hopefully knows in the audience as well. High School in the Democracy school that is an official deck designation that they've received due to the incredible work that goes in every year to out of Civic engagement and civic education and along the lines of that mayor Garcetti has challenged in response to the March for our lives so you know the students were really trying to get other young people typically engaged and two-player role in the electoral process near Garcetti is taken out of how to get every single high school in his entire jurisdiction and surrounding because I realize that that's LA and we're Culver City so forgive my my in perfect understanding of the details but you have been asked to similarly to other LAUSD schools and surrounding schools to pass a resolution that is a voter it's a voter registration date resolution so it would need to be passed in advance of September 25th so I'd like to ask for Naughty had to put a resolution on our next agenda that is related to this we probably already have the money is in place to have that registration day take place on campus I'm pretty sure it already have them I'm still waiting for his car formation but we do that kind of stuff so I'm pretty sure it's going to be a yes it's just about supporting it publicly and endorsing it publicly so I'd like to Maddie had to put my next agenda so I make sure I understand what dress store resolution asking that we try to help register voters advise voter registration day it's a resolution in support of voter registration day even the big we were able to have voter registration at my brothers Square to go to registration day September 25th and of course voting days and so this resolution would simply be a public okay I see it. Stopping at my pants and Timberland and speaking of September 11th the next meeting is also here at the district office again so we thank you thanks again for thanks again for being flexible our schedules as we go with me to City Hall and here tonight City Hall needed there room for a coyote alert meeting so maybe that's where everyone else is right now then that welcome back everyone I hope everyone have spoke up to some of the things I also attended I also attended by me and the bank and tell him you'll just get better together Summit California teachers summer Statewide a learning for teachers was do that for me was just too kind of floating around and do some networking but also getting some tickets information from some of the kind of TED Talks style line up there the great time helping to and the Culver City Unified booth at Fiesta so many questions and involves how do we buy these shirts so I know there's no one in the PTA here but I want to put it on their record the next year we need to have Council PTA right next to us to register people for PTA kind of up and sell the swag because I got more people for me asking about how do I buy that t-shirt up there like I'm trying to remember to make sure we remember that the next year I think it's a great opportunity to get parents signed up for the PTA and then get there by before school actually starts we have been doing a lot of work over the summer for that work on summer was building a schedule of workshops that we were make sure people know about Andrew invited to in between the times of our actual formal meeting we do have one on September 4th right and it's in between the other one that we have one maybe have one almost every first Tuesday how much pressure is there in 6:30 will be here in the district office so tell everyone that knows we'll be on our website in calendar as well, the first one I believe a labor-management ship stuff and supposedly enrollment budget topics that we have budget books on October just some really exciting stuff 4 in terms of the race that was at Sunoco race I heard that I didn't want people were still hoping that we have some forms of get to know you type of stuff I'm in for my 20 but most of the can of that if we can't agree to that I think the new one for most of us would be to Sean's they must be going Nola more about her this week. So this is we talked about not limiting remotes for sports corrected as we discussed at the last a more discussion all those in favor 14 or 10 11 is first reading and approval of revising AR 1330 use of school facilities to add the capability to approve the use of alpha all at special events we run this by our Council we run it by a Skip and there been recent legislation that addresses most of these topics so we feel very comfortable and moving ahead with this if not it's not a wide-open yes everyone can do it we're establishing an application procedure so that various events can apply for that special permit and we can approve or deny it I will move to a person to bring it we were actually asking for first reading approval online but I have a guy line you're sold and how but it doesn't say if it's a fake location within the district still wouldn't this like it doesn't exclude Elementary School correct so that would be part of the application process I can't imagine
