and I'm confident that we will get a very large amount of students I'm confident that we will at least double our pre-pandemic numbers that's our goal of success that we defined for Year One okay thank you Masala Missoula I want to say that I'm in. The port of this and I'm so grateful for the partnership I'm super excited for the campaign I love with dr. Levin said that students are given their life skills and we're going to teach students that public transportation is a mode of transportation that can help you know I meant and can help you know where their own safety and also help for future Generations right like we need to I'm more excited about the campaign than the actual free ride because I just see either grab potential of like this year we have 7,000 Cara cards you know maybe maybe this will expand right and we offer it to family by just the student because it's a parent can ride with the student they'll feel even more comfortable so anyways I'm just really really excited I hope to I hope this year that we have funding you're too soon and I did have a question and that is I know there was a number that was said last time I'm small mini car ride would be prevented if all 7,000 tap card were distributed in someone tell me what that number was I'm going to I'm going to reach out to Samantha cuz I know we did a calculation of it but our goal Samantha do you remember off that number off the top of your head Rolando was that the 300,000 yeah okay so I remember how we calculated than that because we were look on an average trip that if we took just two miles know three miles a trip so somebody was getting in their car driving three miles to school and driving 3 miles back and then doing the same thing in the afternoon just to drop off one kid that would be 6 miles a day and then when you divide that that back by 50,000 trip that we're trying to to save here and that's very easily achieved because if the number of day that we can get a few hundred kids to take the bus and this is not even all seven we're looking just for a few hundred being able to go to take the bus then every single day they would save six miles a day so easily adds up and and and Beyond just going to school we believe that the education that we would be feeding to this next Generation which is really trying to look at alternative that they would pass that on to their parents and because if there's a family of a V and all free kid have free ability to ride public transportation for free they can tell the parents come on let's get on a city bus and it only cost them a dollar then they can all ride for a dog template they can go to the movie they can go grocery shopping they could even jump on the rail you know with that same Affair so it would cost another $0.50 to jump on on on public transportation on on metro rail parent would only have to pay and then and then the child would be able to ride for free so it's going to the next generation is going to teach those of us that don't ride much and they're going to become the teacher I teaching the older generation to ride public transportation thank you so much okay so it's about 300,000 car right four-year I'm assuming we calculated 300,000 miles from the attic service estate off the ropes yes okay thank you and I second as the first to ask is like let's find that funding for your two and the second ask is like let's collaborate with Metro so that our families and children can get them Nets enough without having to pay extra fee cuz I know how important it is to like be able to just get on the Metro and go downtown or you know get to Santa Monica so anyways love love love this partnership thank you so much for bringing it to us I'm sorry I did and so excited what the future has for us thank you Miss Amezola is anybody else have any comments or questions that's one quick question I just wanted to find out if the student currently has a registered TAP card do they swear they still use that card or do they need to get and register a new card we could do is they would get a new card because these cards are specifically programmed to be a k through 12 student and depending upon what happens with Metro they would be able to program do if you know with Metro and other property if they have a balance on their old card that they will be able to transfer that and we can help them get their existing tap card and transfer everything over to the new card thank you thank you any other comments or questions I just wanted to recognize the speakers I really appreciate students coming to speak today and I wanted to thank the city in particular, mr. Cruz and his team for initiating all of this work a couple years ago really it was only interrupted by the pandemic so this has been a collaboration that has been in the works sometime and then was severely abruptly stopped and then recently picked up in advance of the new year once we knew that school would be returning cuz that wasn't clear until very recently and so I just want to express appreciation for the work that the city has done and particular your department Mister Cruz and then again to the students for coming to speak today thank you thank you dr. Kent I'm assuming there are no more comments or questions so we'll call vote all those in favor can I just quickly confirm that you were okay with the letter as is there was no spelling or anything like that any word change nothing just as is wake me up at ccusd school board thank you thank you thank you doctor, I do have a procedural question on that because mr. Cruz you you mentioned that that this is supporting your work at the city and you know it in terms of advocacy over there does it help for someone to what is the letter enough do you need someone to speak what what do you hoping for the letter definitely would go on record so if once the it comes on we would send it to the council members and then of course it would be put on file on record in support of this should anybody want to speak on it we definitely would appreciate that I do not I mean I would like a 5:00 to be honest with so I'm sure your leadership and the entire board leadership here a member being able to come on board or staff member be able able to come on board and respond to any questions as well would be much of a of course I will have to say that those meetings sometimes go wrong so we'll try to know anything about that what will try to be Opryland at the early part of the meeting is what they were intending to do on this one all right if you have time to 2 to be present I do have time I I basically what I wanted to offer is that this is an opportunity for other board members if they're interested since we have all voted on it unanimously because have the opportunity to go to many council meeting I don't know why I just wanted to invite you or doctor Levin or Polo or summer to do that I will absolutely if no one else make the time totally but I just thought it would be a nice opportunity thank you thank you dr. Ken all right so we are going to move on to business services action item 7 point I don't know if you need any explanation but this is just the actual agreements with dollar amounts that we talked about the last meeting informally the total is adding about $73,000 to our existing invoice contract to do the middle school and high school lock around one thing I didn't want to clarify in the timeline because I was thinking about it after that last board meeting and it felt like some people thought the timeline men if the construction goes past the start of the school the students will have locker rooms that aren't yet air condition the issue is actually going to be if construction goes past the start of the school they won't even be able to use the locker room it's not like they can come in and use it without air conditioning they're going to have to completely stay out of it so I've actually already started conversations with them high school and middle school admin no trying to find a solution for where can we put the students for PE and sports if the rooms are still being worked on. I just want to clarify that and we will keep having those conversations I can't imagine they would not want to do HVAC because of that so I'm sure we'll come up with something creative so talk to me can I have a question but do you want a motion first yes please approve is there any public comment I seen an okay Doctor Levin go for it if you could just because this is quick and it's a lot of money give us a quick sketch of why you think the amount of money is reasonable what do we have that lets us know that you know we should be paying close to half a million dollars versus 20 or 30% last year or something because envizen I will say we been working with invites for many years so I trust them that they're coming in with a fair bit first of all second of all we kind of I think our original thought process behind not doing these was because we knew it would be a little more expensive than doing normal classroom because it's such a big space and requires more expensive equipment the comments I've been getting from PE and sports staff are like they're really suffering out there and I don't think we heard those comments before which is why I never really considered it but as it starts to approach the summer I've been getting quite a few emails so there was a little more willingness to spend more money because the situation is worse than I actually thought it was and I do want to read the money will be coming from State matching facility funds so not out of our general fund not Bond or anything like that does that help me answer partially so it sounds like you had an idea of what the cost. To be going into this before you got the the statement from advise and this is consistent with that this is probably looked at it and considered it too expensive what the cost was then I do remember it was fairly High okay yeah I think it's clearly we're getting the air conditioning that's not my concern at the moment my concern is whether if we waited a year and put it the bid we saved $100,000 or something I'm going to say I think pride and Chris can probably back me up on this prices are going up the longer we wait because especially coming out of the pandemic our vendors are all vendors busy getting equipment takes more time to fit me know if you sing like the cost of lumber and everything up at this is Lumber but everything related to facility projects and construction projects cost for Sky writing style really I haven't had my coffee yet yeah they're they're going up for sure but thanks mr. clean and maybe this is a question that you need to ask mr. I'm just out of not related to this particular project but I know that that large would have given a z and space is also not air-conditioned I'm just kind of curious what the cost would be to do that job because I mean as a spectator it gets really really brutal in that space and so just curious what that cost would be as well so Chris can correct me if I'm wrong but when when you get a chance I'm for sure I remember the number I don't I was going to say. 11 do you remember the number I want to say it was like a million dollars or so we were hoping at the windows in the fans and all that other and there would help but want to keep an eye on it if you can dig up that number thank you so much never, questions Masala Missoula I yes I am very concerned that we have large spaces that sometimes the windows don't open such as the gyms I know that when I did the walkthrough at the high school the gym and it was early spring that wasn't even hot the gym was already hot and you know these are the things that I'm there are coming through my mind right I hope it is still very present we have children that are going to come students that are going to come into these spaces and we need the flow of air to be flow in and second thing that's in my mind is that we have fire season starting up right and Fire season is starting earlier and you know I was staying around later which means that in the fall where we might be experiencing a lot of you know pollution in the air and the worst thing we could do is you know have spaces that are not ventilated do for these two reasons health reasons I really think we as a community need to invest in ensuring that our children have altered clean air and and we need to make sure you know like we talked about how we want Equity will this is how the equity and I and I know that in addition to friends that this is probably not the most sustainable thing or are goals to being sustainable as a community and so we really need to also in addition to adding these ventilation resources we need to be thinking about how our district can become a hundred percent sustainable because the city is sustainable in electricity and we need to start thinking about how we can also be tapping into those electrical resources that are sustainable and I know that I believe is the high school that it's not or the middle school or maybe both and and so these are the three things that I'm thinking that we really need to be you know I'm planting the seed so that as a board we can start thinking about how we can serve our students with some Health Equity and also ensuring that we are not adding to you no electricity to the to the grid and that were using sustainable resources so thank you so much for bringing this to us Robert and I hope to for you to be thinking about how we can do these other things so that we can you know continue moving forward one thing just do address in there but will consider all of it I do want to let you know that we put a lot of work fixing all those windows in the high school gym so that they do now all open property that was back before students return to campus thank you any other comments or questions all right we'll move this to a vote all those in favor say aye all right a business sorry board business Culver City Pride ride Missoula had brought this to our attention and our last regular board meeting about being a sponsor for the The Pride ride so is that Missoula do you have any other comments you'd like to make to the boy yeah I just want to invite everyone to attend if you're available it will be Sunday June 27th at the we are collaborating with a walk and roller and they will be providing some tune-ups to bikes before the ride which starts at 10 a.m. and the two nuts will be happening at the Vets Park and I think Jim still on to maybe he can if I say anything wrong gym hopefully you can correct or you know added to the commentary and this came about that this this is actually a unanimous vote by city council who had the first ever Pride event in the city of Culver City and the City of Culver City has have proclamation of June being Pride months they have never had any event and soda is will be there tomorrow event and I really hope that in the future that ccusd becomes a co-sponsor and that we you know lead the charge along with the city to embrace marginalized communities that you know have their voices have not been elevated by both ccusd and the City of Culver City and June is also now June 19th celebration holiday and this is just really an opportunity for us to really expand expand our work on equity and ensure that that we that there were were leaders along with our city of Culver City and and that were and that was standing with our students and their lgbtq we're standing with our Abbey Park students that were standing with the community who wants to make the city of Culver City more sustainable and and and get us off our car and I do want to share with everybody that I am taking my twenty-year-old bike to get tuned up and die if they get it to not be enough I will join the ride and so I will bring my help I am my knee pads if needed but I will be there and I have been asked to give a short speech so thank you so much for putting this in the agenda doctor 11 do you have a question cuz Jim has his hand up now I was just going to say we need a motion of some sort right so do we want a motion that the yeah sure so I'll entertain a motion I move to support the city of Culver City and this year and in the future to be part of this Pride event think we should make a motion that's a little bit explicit so I think I'm not positive but I think what we're asking for for this year in particular is a sponsorship which is equivalent to a logo on their materials is that correct their sponsorship this year is really they're promoting on their flyer the sponsors and so it's yes the logo but also the name on their materials amend the motion to say that we approve the use of seats USB logo and that the board wishes to join in sponsorship of the event like it just what dr. Levinson and we all make sure that this like we don't I don't want to come every year and get sponsorship so I want to make sure that this is something that that we embrace for the longevity of the yeah I think what what everyone's saying is that this has to be each year so this this is emotion for just this particular event this year oh I think that what we can do is put this on pending items and it can go on an administrative calendar to come to us every May or whenever the city is planning which maybe that'll end up being earlier but he also reacts every year on their sponsorship so that practices is straightforward but if we put it in an administrative calendar which is ties back to another question we have been resolved but let's put it on pending items and I'll revisit annually okay thank you I that would be great that way we don't have to do a special meeting so we have an amended motion and can I get a second I believe what happened is Paula amended her motion as suggested by me and I second it so we'll entertain public comment Jim hi yep good morning again so I just wanted to clarify what it was saying that as part of our partnership on this we will be providing free bicycle repair or any of the riders in the ride I'm we are already doing so I prepared a that day at the park so what we try to get out is that any of the riders in the Rye can show up a little bit early at 8:30 and we'll have somebody on standby why you keep going enjoying the ride and it also they come by afterwards a 2:30 will come put them to the front of the queue on a while you wait this also so we're doing all we can to support the ride on interstates unfortunate car clicker we be after starting point during the repairs we just can't spare The Mechanics for that also if we've got available will be at the city hall at the rally I'm providing safety and educational information along with our other encouragement has any in the valley and the right we're happy to support and I'm thrilled to hear that the board is also important thank you thank you any other comments all those in favor entertain a moment for entertain a motion for adjournment thank you Miss McBride thank you dr.
