good evening everyone it is 6:40 p.m. we are back from closed session roll call the Board of Trustees all trustees are present 3.2 Public Announcement of actions taken by the boarding closed session in closed session the board voted 50 to approve student settlement agreement 2024020 63 and in closed session the board voted 50 to approve student settlement agreement 2024020368 adoption agenda 41 colleagues over the agenda is there any discussion okay all those in favor say I I public recognition 5.2 members of the items items on the agenda just as a reminder this is a special board meeting the board does not take public comments on items not on the agenda for special so if you have a public comment on item on the agenda now would be the time to raise your Zoom hand or if you're in person can we speak your card I see 1 just a it's open at this time we're going to give 5 more seconds for people to sign on 4 3 2 I 2 people who have signed up okay yeah so we're going to close public comment now and I'm fine with um 3 minutes all right we can start with uh Marion Sarah I'm unmuted and I'm on the agenda Mary and Sarah here former CTE technician in recent retiree as I consider my 47 years with ccusd the best way to describe my career is to say it's been a great run since 1978 I have searched for ways to make my to make an impact in our district and Community I founded in 3 themes of service my professional role what you hired me to do my Ace activities and my personal commitment to our families through the covert closet I have been invited and sometimes nudged my way into spaces where I use my voice my perspective to grow a quality CTE program to prepare the next Workforce in my youth employment role I took great pride in providing working minors with the tools they needed to land grow and remain safe on the job as Ace bargaining chair I introduced the concept of astronic leave and classify negotiated initial language to support in support of fellow employees and then my heart the covert closet the cover closet was founded in 2012 to assist families who are struggling with clothing and security and the daily stressors of low income status and displacement recognizing the high cost of back-to-school shopping and the need for every student to start the new year feeling confident and ready to learn the cover Clause that with a generosity of community part will distribute 140 backpacks loaded with essential school supplies clothing shoes and personal care products are available to our families in need of items a learner will need to launch the new school year board members thank you for all the opportunity it is you have provided me Dr Gooden and Miss Rajiv Thank You for Your brave leadership and thank you to my career colleagues my friends you know who you are you're the ones who taught me supported me cheered me on I offer my found gratitude in closing I leave my employment content and fulfilled and excited about my new title ccusd volunteer should anyone wish to make a donation to The Culver closet you know where to find me thank you again for an incredible opportunity and a fabulous career thank you so much good night you and next we have Melissa Sanders good evening um well welcome to Dr hums I think this is your first full meeting so good luck with that um I really wanted to talk about kind of salaries in general I was stunned when he actually said that 94% of our budget is taken up into salaries and wages so considering this special agenda item thing is all about salaries and wages um I really think that should be discussed um what what you guys are going to plan to do going forward that that is an unacceptable percentage um I work for a nonprofit and yikes so I obviously haven't read through everything but I just wanted to state that that is something to definitely look at I hope that the both union leaders will take that into account the 8% that we supported for them clearly has made an impact in our budgeting and uh that should definitely be looked at seriously so good luck in your meeting um yay fer's gone and hopefully we'll have a significantly better year thank you that concludes everyone who has signed up for items on the agenda thank you uh we'll now move on to action items personal items 7.1 good evening thank you 7.1 is a revised classified salary schedule and it's for substitutes um we need to publicly post the amount that we're paying for each of our substitute positions and I just want to make it clear that um each substitute position they're paid at Step 1 of the classified salary scale so this isn't a change it's just ensuring that our salary scales match what we're paying employees we need a motion moved to proof second so discussion colleagues all those in favor say I I I number 2 thank you 720 excuse me 7.2 unrepresented auxiliary assignments salary schedule again these are amounts that we've been paying employees however we haven't had an actual salary scale um that's been listed with the um with the positions and how much they're being paid so this is being put forth so that we have it um in our in our um salary scales that have been approved by the board moved to approve second discussion all those in favor say I I 7.3 7.3 is a variable term waiver for bilingual education um I do want to point out that we as a district have made significant strides to not have to provide waivers to new High um and these 2 instances the California um teaching credentialing will not allow for candidates to apply for a bilingual waiver until they have finished their full credential so in both of the cases for these that are being applied these are 2 Pay Teachers that are finishing up their um credential requirements and they're waiting for CTC to post their credentials so um we have applied for these waivers so that when they start school on the first day they have um their full authorizations move to approve all those in favor say I I can I do it oh I'm sorry it's okay it won't but I just I just want to thank Dr Gooden because I am always a little skeptical when waving credential requirements um and so I asked this and she explained that and same same for the next 1 yeah thank you okay all those in favor I I I 714 7.4 is a variable term waiver for a CTE teacher again the same way this CTE teacher has a preliminary Ary credential the state of California will not issue a bilingual authorization until he fully completes his credentials so this employee will be completing his full credential by April 2026 so the spring of this year and at that point he will have his full authorization moved to approve second discussion Allison papers say I I consent move to approve consent as presented yeah second saying none all
