sorry good evening from you can and we begin now it is now 51 the regular meeting Open Session to order all trustees are present and and if we could have a go meet us in a flag salute that would be great um I'll thank you g everyone please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and please begin uh to the agents to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which times 1 nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you so much oh we don't have any student board members today to do our land acknowledgement would you like to thank you Mr lachman acknowledge your presence of the traditional ancestral and unseated territory of the keys and tongva people who are the original caretakers of this land thank you so much the 3.4 Public Announcement of actions taken by the board enclosed in closed session this evening the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education voted to appoint Dr Marcela Dr my son of a mirrors as assistant superintendent of Educational Services effective July 1st 2026 the action was approved by a union unanimous vote there is no hearing today adoption of the agenda superintendent do you have any president members of the board cabinet committee for this site we do not have any changes to the addition or additions to the agenda thank you I will move the agenda then second all those in favor say I I I thank you very much 6.1 2026 CC USC spelling bee recognitions you could would you like us to be in the well that'd be fabulous thank 2 kaliste thank you board president so at this time CC USD is proud to recognize this year's top 3 spellers and celebrate their dedication the perseverance and their hard work these students have demonstrated exceptional spelling skills and a strong commitment to Excellence our top 3 spellers from the 2026 District B are Gia pransky first place Alvin Khan come on up Lucas the second place from CCMS Ravi hos third place from CCMS and to know Gia our district Champion represent at CCSD at the Los Angeles County Office of Education otherwise known as Leo Regional B on March 18th and we are incredibly proud of her outstanding achievement congratulations to all of our Scholars thank you I said thank you thank you our next item is the CCMS boys lacrosse team make the Board of Education would like to recognize our Culver City Middle School boys lacrosse team for their outstanding achievement and winning the championship title the team will be acknow for their hard work teamwork dedication sportsmanship demonstrated through the season Carter Horwitz see you guys next year since they're most recognition so our next question is for the student advisory Council so the Board of Education will students uh this is also throughout the school year they are honored for their knowledge they committed to supporting the district initiatives and providing valuable input on matters impacting students and school culture so it's in order to recognize the students that are there that everybody is able uh to make it but I believe we have at least 3 or 4 of the students here those are available actually provide their certificate for uh distribution at their School site so we owe we would like to honor gross Vegas gross oh J stand Shake this no you need to be this is your advisor I know but I'll go this way come on next she's so much so she is bad and she was about that thank you so much thank you this 1 yeah awesome thank you I did anything you need to be kind of in the testing if they can't yeah and I help with the time period okay hold on I just take a few moments to get the screen down all right that's we're loading up the PowerPoint just like the say thank you to all of the students and Families that came out today for all of the recognition little Echo here pretty sure in here I'm I'm not I'm not is your audio connected you should leave audio that's true I'm not connected to the meeting testing testing somebody that had it team who won the CIF championship and it was an honor to be there witnessing uh that event it looks like there's a cycle yeah so it was an honor to witness our students that event and uh looking forward to celebrating them at a future board meeting and this evening uh we'd like to highlight got worse but we want to highlight is Zoya Sheikh who's a cover City High School student who delivered a keynote address at the LA County Office of Education math conference in front of 2,500 students Educators and community members and also she presented before the Leo board of education on May 19th to share her story uh regarding the clubs she founded called Trent trackers and so I just want to I just want to highlight zobia because she was here earlier as part of the recognition for the superintendent student advisory Council so at this time I'm going to ask her to please come up and just share a few words with the board on how you are using the trunk trackers to give student voice at cover City High School through the youths of mathematics all right Sylvia good afternoon good afternoon my name is it like delayed okay I'm a freshman at Culver City High and found of train trackers a student advocacy club that utilizes statistics to be a new measurable change to campuses across California yet I'd like to thank superintendent Dr Harries for providing an Avenue for students to share their student voice and my power to the body um thank you so much thank you so much thank you thank you so much all right in our next slide I just want to highlight it was an amazing experience to celebrate with our students at the Catie graduation celebration which was held last week I know uh some of our board members were able to attend as well it's just a great day celebrating all of our students it's not are you getting me my step ones this angle all right testing testing looks like I don't have all you know bless you bless you testing testing it's going to be great down yeah all right so at this time we have our cabinet open so my hand is over to Dr Hur who's going to provide us uh with some updates so hard to understand and they didn't he had the information in the road but not it's like you know that the staff was not filling on thank you Dr menz oh this looking okay thank you so um tonight the board asked for a brief overview of the updated English course sequence pathway with the addition of the English 10 honors um prior to our second read at the center of this plan is the understanding that all students complete 4 years of college preparatory English align to graduation in a through G requirements students will have multiple Pathways available to them based on their interests Readiness and future goals including College Prep honors and advanced Place placement coursework the expectation across all courses Remains the remains rigorous Reading Writing analysis discussion and critical thinking this slide is intended simply to provide the community with a visual overview of the updated sequence moving forward that okay it's not a fancy what the next slide okay 1 back thank you okay um as an update to the board the cell phone policy committee has now completed both the board policy and administrative role drafts during the committee's most recent meeting members finalized implementation recommendations by grade span and including elementary middle and high school expectations while those implementation parameters were defined during the meeting the are itself needed to be fully drafted into operational language over this past week ed services worked to translate the committee recommendations into the complete our draft and returned it to the committee for a final feedback loop review and its entire written format this additional step has allowed us to ensure alignment with the committee Clarity implementation consistency to Bringing both the BP and ar4 for the first read at the next meeting all right and that concludes the superintendent's report thank you I'm just going to ask because the zoom was not available on uh for the presentations if it's possible for you all to add them to the minutes minutes later is possible or understanding yes we will have those thank you I think that there's still an echo in the zoom room that's the problem the um The Interpreter is having a hard time moving on to student Representatives report I don't see any of them in the zoom room unless they've recently come on get rid that that kid no I don't see anyone okay so um members of the audience items on the agenda do have any cards in the room no cards okay and uh now is the time for audience members in the zoom um also to raise your hands if you have any comments on items on the agenda currently we see no hands we give you another second before we close public comment on items on the agenda thank you payment is now closed and items on the agenda so members of the board I think this time we're going uh beachy first write with or yeah cuz uh Mr lachman was first before so BG and then it comes back back around thank you good evening everybody just wanted to wish uh Happy e uh e to anyone who celebrates and and I will wrap up my comments here tonight okay mine are very short uh just hope everybody had a restful holiday weekend and a meaningful Memorial Day uh it's 1 of the best times of the year to be a school board member because we get to celebrate the Milestones of our students especially our graduating high school seniors uh we'll have another meeting before the big ceremony which I'm glad we'll be together for at West LA College on Friday June 12th um just wanted to say I also really enjoy our Affinity graduations as well um as uh Dr as mentioned in the first 1 was last Thursday the 5th annual kente graduation uh which is really wonderful and then this week I believe we have the aapi graduation and next week lavender and Liara graduations um so looking forward to all of that and uh that's it for me tonight thanks um first of all with the uh ccef uh it was very calm enough to help fund the uh spelling or the spelling bee so I don't think we got to give them some credit for their work there thank them as well looking forward to all of the graduations coming up and as people are making our seniors are making College decisions I think senior day is also coming up as well um feel great changes for our our seniors coming up and those who will be alternative I've been told of school and into high school so it's an exciting time for everyone and the the audience and then we and change so do you do you have a report to deliver that would be very free do you want to finish with the current first um the only thing I have is API HPA graduation is tomorrow the ceremonies at 6:30 at the development process between this is when that is open to the public uh our keyword speakers and Keno the full acre of monitor diverted uh so uh you are all welcome to tune on our seniors our participating in this uh ceremony the photo booth because at 6:00 p.m. and you can see the art uh by our um student showcase student in our student Showcase in the Robert Frost Lobby and uh thank you to everyone especially over spending on funds from the super supervisor Mitchell's office and our extremely hateful to all of our supporters and now is Jack now on behalf of this good evening everybody thank you guys you should turn it on because the zoom will yes okay I will be very brief can I bring everybody I just wanted to report back um on my Lobby experience in Sacramento um so I will give you the good news first everybody that we met with and we met with quite a few people um local Representatives and uh Senators everybody is very supportive of Education everybody that you gave a thumbs up to full funding of prop 98 um but we're not done yet so this is another of it getting reconciled within the house and or the assembly rather and Senate and then going back to the governor also please please please everybody listening please continue to reach out to your representatives both senators and assembly members and tell them that we need absolute full funding of prop 98 the governor is still talking about withholding some of it and just an inside scoop some people feel that this is going to be created or presented as a choice between fully funding prep 98 or funding the medical shortfall that's resulting from the federal government withholding funds it doesn't have to be that way the state has plenty of money so we can push to get all of it um I have anything else to talk about but I will save that for next time on the interest of time so thank you thank you thank you if it's okay with everyone we'll put on and forgo our recess uh we have no information items 11.1 yes let me Point what is the second reading and approval of our policy to 1 to zero superintendent recruitment selection so it's up for Action tonight and with respect to the additions as we had shared earlier it has to do with with the uh discussing negotiating a boarding on the superintendent's contract as well as some Provisions that basically mentioned if the superintendent was convicted of any fellow involving accepting or giving or offering to give any bribe conflict venture investment of public money extraction or theft of public money conspiracy to commit any of those crimes arising directly out of their official duties as a public uh employee would make their contracts uh Nolan void so that's 1 of the major uh updates I will move the item 1 second any discussion all those in favor say I I I thank you 13.1 13.1 Administration require approval of the ratified Master contract with Heritage schools to provide residential treatment services including therapeutic and educational support for students with intensive social emotional and behavioral needs as determined through the IEP process I'll move to approve second for any discussion all those in favor say I 13.2 thank you 13.2 Administration request approval of the ratified independent consultant agreement for services with West Shield adolescent transport service to provide specialized student transportation services for students requiring intensive support during Transit to due to mental health and or social emotional needs as determined through the IEP process I will move the item second any discussion all those in favor say I I thank you 14.1 this is a licensed for um with Grace of Grace step software um to provide web based solutions for our School site level accounting for all the ASB clubs and online payment processing to the tune of um um 4,836 as in 1-time fee and then an annual fee of 5,135 coming out of general fund for next 3 years second all those in favor say I the next item 14 Point 2 is the additional topographical survey surveying for laiona new construction project to be completed by June 3020 26 to the tune of 8,888 under measuring move a second discussion all those in favor say I I I the next item 14.3 is the approval of the additional percolation and infiltration testing and for geotechnology geotechnical soil report for office of Child Development relocation project by June 2026 to the tune of 30300 under measuring Madam second any discussion all those in favor say I item number 14 for this be seeking your approval to replace wireless access points across District sites using Federal e program um it will pay for 60% of the total project cost on the district will pay for the remaining so we are actually seeking your approval for the party person of the 129th and dollars second question was in favor say I 14.5 recently actually you approved the trans session from slim to Pips for workers compensation coverage 46 application to join the Pips there is an as an individual member um has been since approved by the Pips board but the final step in the transition process is the applying to the office of Self insurance plan regrets a resolution to be approved by the board and that's this isolation number 27 I'll move the item second discussion all those in favor say I I 15.1 thank you 15.1 is the resolution to release probationary certificated employees we have 3 employees that did not meet the requests remain employed for the 2627 school year entertain a motion I'll move it second discussion all those in favor say I I 152 15.2 is a new certificate of job description for tosa um that's going to oversee our teacher residency and induction program um if you recall we received a grant from State of California for 4 million 4 million dollars this grant will cover um the majority of that position for a 4 years and we'll also cover our teacher induction program that's required for all of
