SUPERINTENDENT’S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

Introduction

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SAC) provides input on ways to improve communication with students and to obtain input on school system initiatives. Members are secondary school students who reflect the diversity of the Culver City student population. Meetings are held monthly with the Superintendent, the Culver City High School ASB Vice President and the Culver City Middle School ASB President.

 

What is the structure of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council?

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council is composed of secondary school students, grades 7-12, who serve on this advisory council.

What is the process for students interested in serving on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council?

If you are interested in serving as a part of SAC, you will need to submit an application. The deadline to submit an application for the 2022-2023 advisory council is October 28, 2022.  Applications are available on the CCUSD website under “About us/Superintendent.” You may also request a copy via email. Send your request to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]students.ccusd.org

How are the members chosen?

To ensure board representation, applications for potential members will be evaluated on a variety of factors, including grade level areas. There will be 14 advisory council members selected, six students  from the middle school and eight students from the high school.

When will the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council meetings be held? Meetings are all  at 4:00 pm and on the following dates:

November 17,                                               December 8

January 12                                                     February 9

March 9                                                          April 13

May 11

 What will be expected of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council?

Advisory members will be expected to:

  • Attend Scheduled meetings.
  • Prepare for each meeting as needed.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with each other and with school system staff as needed.
  • Express views and opinions openly, constructively, and respectively.

Although the Superintendent and the ASB Presidents will develop an agenda for each meeting, students may submit discussion items for consideration to Rebecca Williams, Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent at [email protected]
