and Terrence brown hair and then Janine lizotte is fortunately not with us tonight family emergency thank you so much so good evening members of the board we are here tonight as the CCMS counseling team to share with you some of the full aspects of our Kipling program and share with you some of our goals that we have set for the future this past summer we were very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the ASCA conference which is our national School counseling conference it was in Phoenix Arizona and the theme of the conference was spice up your counseling School counseling program sitting with that theme wreath of taking a look at our counseling program through the ASCA lens and we are going to some of that with you tonight so ask a stands for American school counselor Association it's our professional governing and there are three domains of School counseling that ask a husband us at the gives us the framework for what they expected a cough pensive School counseling program to look like and the three domains are the academic personal social and college career domains we have national standards so similar to white teachers have spinners in their content area we have standards according to our professional governing body and they look like this these are the mindsets and behaviors so it supposed to like math Stanford 2.1 we have the mindsets and behaviors of student and they are broken up in the categories of the three domains so we'll look at these along with our data to decide what we want to cover within our counseling program and I am to French Brown and in May of this year the counseling department we met for the very first time at had a reef beat Hazard apartment however we had an opportunity to really look at how we have been doing after providing our services open years and we saw some differences to some things that we what to do and one of those who succeed providing services for the stupid for their support and benefit in addition to we're looking at our kicked and Howard K slope on average for the average cancer was just a poor 500 so we looked at those things and we've revamped and we now have a average case Roper counselor 394 because we went out for as opposed to Great level has we as we have been doing several years in the past but as well as looking at how we can better service our students look also at the academic ins for example is this going left or up or down which path do I push Google all the thing we're looking at the various stop tell me the things that we're doing at the middle school to help me to academic needs of students that are new for this year are our fun Friday something that would start even last year which we really turn it up more students get an opportunity to select another elected for 30 minutes of their interest but also put that goes along with our Paul's with the amperage even Twerk Shop where we have built-in in addition hour per week on campus for tubes to get enhanced instructional assistants by retaking tests or I have no opportunity to get started on homework in advance on face if they receive it and it the emotional component of some of the things are new for us is that we have we've celebrated a week Where We Are looking at anti-bullying and also we're looking this year's incorporating as well I'm more of a multicultural understanding and appreciation of the diversity of our campuses also in the College and Career it and we've been very active in exposing our students to the ccgi which is the California College guidance edition if 6th grade on make great looking at various career choices for pads and how they can work through given their lessons they're learning meaning making meaningful for them to be able to I'll make right choices and do the importance in their current curriculum that they're taking that leads to careers and in life helical with mrs. Monroe so towards the future our long-term vision is to achieve its called ramp ramp stands for a recognized ASCA model program she might be thinking why Grand will ramp is at cos kind of seal of Excellence of Highly achieving data-driven prehensive school program and looked at it and we're thinking okay if we're thinking in the terms of school is kind of what you live once ink of a blue ribbon School those same images come to mind for us when we think of a ramp program so we want to achieve ramp because it's National designation that helps distinguish us and show that we are in the ITV School counseling programs within our nation because it is an plain white program the ask a process takes about 2 to 5 years to complete for the ramp designation and ask his broken into new faces the first is planned in the second is data collection currently in the plan phase which means we're looking at the aspects of our program and a value and where we need to get from here we're also collecting Baseline data because once we enter the data collection fix that's the two pieces of metal compared to one another and ultimately put tar wrap application so they're up 12 components to the ramp application you can and each are graded on a 5-point rubric and they require both data evidence and anecdotal evidence so we will look at our Baseline data this year as we stuck to do the planning phases and implementing what we need to work towards those 12 ponitz of ramp okay we just want to thank you for these amazing perfect development opportunities we really appreciate your financial support and allowing us to expand our professional development and bring our new plan skills to our student body we have been able to abreast of latest research and techniques which of students to benefit from date and driven programs with passes other schools accounting programs who may not be as fortunate support of the school board like to say thank you these are some of the workshops that we've attended to her sponsors at 10 in the California Association of school counselors what do you learn about topics ranging from college career Readiness to transgender and Persian in schools three of us attended Oscar or which is loudest to begin the Rams location process we attended the Ares conference which allowed is to become proficient and using aeries.net that's allowing us to serve our students more efficiently and finally this is the first year that we implemented our highly successful program which is Foster student leaders and as help fix graders experience unless transition to middle school so again we like to say thank you for your support of the counseling team and we are excited to be part of a cutting-edge team and are appreciated and grateful the apart of a district who truly believes in the that we do let you all know if your having a career day on November 18th signed up to be speakers and we are greatly appreciative if you know of anybody or have any connections or friends or anyone who would like to be a speaker on where they can email me Christina bright and I'd be happy to connect them and bring them over to Up For Students don't you guys have any questions for us how hot was it can you put out a hundred and ten in the summer we should make it wherever we send you you do not bounce so maybe they'll be other locations ask my B New Orleans sounds so promising and I'm so happy that it's coming to the Middle School volume service thank you that's not as amusing your question I want to things that King about the job YouTube is you have to wear a lot of hats you have to do a bunch of bureaucrat paperwork at the same time or you have to as you have to try to communicate with students and understand what's going on in their lives but what problems they have and so my question is how do you balance that are we doing what we can to Port you in that role is there is there anything that stands out where if we made this piece of different you be able to handle the that challenging workload in the different in a better way what I think just as a reset know with dr. Gaetano coming on and then having such an amazing boyfriend you know everyone at the district we feel very supported in the last few years as counselor run the path we had an ad and had to worry every year if I was going to be cut or not so I think you know Justin before we just appreciate support people to do these professional activities because we're able to come back and bring exciting program for students and like I said you know other schools are not as important and don't have access to this kind of thing what does continuance be able to do stuff like that we greatly appreciate that switch from 500 Summits beans to 400 did we add somebody please check okay so I have integrated and papa Lee and necklace and so how does that work in terms of improving add additional support that you had been providing to Ovid and LD students is that still a component of somebody's or is that everybody is we all share that so we all grow from that development for it's not something exclusive to one given we all wrote about and professionally by being able to handle stop by before students have it is still one of the components that respond Roy has a solution continues to work with students who are in a bit Suffocation or may not have been overseen some things have come off of her plate with things that so hard for she find chosen to continue on-site coordinator great support them too so she help support us kind of a good team after fantastic thank you thanks for coming tonight now we have 7 point to that little it'll go with the minute I David you're going to make us if like to share we have magnet to the school board if you want I don't pass them do you have done that to him and we have a folder only as you can see what colors does any question I just have a comment that we are I'm lucky to have women like you and men and and that participate as well it's a wonderful your children in many cases are grown and often collagen and you are still here for Culver City you are amazing thank you thank you very much for all the work you do I know it's a tremendous time commitment for everybody I'm about to end and I'm grateful to you for it and and to congratulate if I think that that 400 what is the new high for you it is so very nice big number congratulations and thank you are you about your distribution of the funds at the difference Global like do you have a Target do you trying to meet me here while you you can sit yeah when we we are very surprising when we did the actual pop chart six out there just kind of you know what we get in the grounds and go cross it's it's basically those instruments the Middle School the same as the high scope I think it just depends what they need is from the district and I think there's a good point that we need to look at but it wasn't intentional you know it all I mean we funded pictures in the direct knees that are from the superintendent in the request we need to do for the program so but what this was a good opener to really see that because I kind of have any when you put it in a pipe and see that you see the differentiate and you know so will fluctuate you know when we did this science lab that there was an incredible year for us to know six seven years turn Arts it does fluctuate into the knees are tribute to the stars with the date thank you I love it it is April 30th 2016 it is very strange for me to say April but it is literally can in the next weekend with your mother's day so we had to take that date so it is officially April 30th more details to follow can you write thank you very much appreciate your support thank you it's point 8.1 there are any issues that the members of audience would like to discuss the turn in a car and that will go on with the superintendent's report if that happens go ahead David okay I'd like to begin by complimenting our high school leaders or students for a very special vote registration event that took place recently we had elected officials including our secretary of state ethics PDF assemblymember Sebastian ridley-thomas so throughout to at the presentation in after the big event I spend some time with Arturo degado he's the Lake OH superintendent he saved about cop City High School his work with all of the high schools throughout the county and other members spoke of all of the high schools the state in recognizing the high school as model as it relates to debate School of democracy so I was a very very special event that was a proud moment several of you were there to be able to but it was truly a non also would like to compliment board members the members of our team for their investment of time to expanding our jerseys Team interview for Architects for standardization design specs at specs implementation planning we've had a very impressive candidate pool we are rounding out that team next week so we're looking forward to putting that team together to have a long-term Aspen sequence developed a master schedule Bolin implementation plan simultaneously being veritiv at addressing a number of immediate goals that we have and then I find some Standalone project but the boards already referenced including Robert Frost the former of space known as that of the natatorium and that are science the facility and needs is so we're very excited about that show me a picture to the contributions of the board for another a public declaration or gratitude for such determine students and staff sing very challenging at times including the temperatures and they remain focused dedicated to teaching and learning really want to compliment to Cadence and operation and food conservice teams in the mitts of the heat to they're the ones that have been doing the extra hours and working hard and providing significant manual labor to who provide some type of reprieve from the heat with that long hours installing a portable AC units or delivering a ice chest of water every single day but we're very grateful for their extra hours so that was done during the heat tomorrow I wanted to share that I will be meeting with Amanda Mesa to use leadership graduation Equity fellow for pembley member Sebastian ridley-thomas from meeting with that at the most recent event they want to spend some time exploring do and how we do it to part of the email invitation to spend time with them said that you are providing an excellent education for all students and it's something we would love to implement what's the entire District so once again I'm people reaching out to Culver City because so they see and hear and feel the compact that we're having I would show divorce pop Elation but of deeply invested community and dedicated staff so what's an operative to spend time talking about my favorite subject and that's Culver City you put since last time we met set 3 pics this time I think we've had another round of open houses at we fret the middle school last week and with Travelzoo for a little bit and it was packed it was packed we could barely get it in the in through the hallways with all of the parents and it was it was fun also seeing so many of our teachers who are there is parents you'll walking the hallways with new middle schools or seem to be in abundance of them in the 6th grade Hall that that was a lot of fun I think I also talked last time about if we were starting with multiple multiple straight days of professional development I think that that actually ended today I think we have a break tomorrow with all of our new teachers in a writing tray we actually had an adopted member of the team type crumpy is started his teen credentialing program and so he sat in to get some personal training what was that name again yeah we charged him a lot of money to attack and sit in it in that seat as as I think he parked elsewhere and he he gave him my spot and I think people accosted him trying to get him out of my this morning so people very well but he was very impressed with it that short little text message Paws really enjoyed the Middle School teachers at my table so that was really nice but I think they kind of a maybe. Did him and her are showing him way we are rolling out a first draft we're calling it report 1.0 and our committee is going to do final final on on Thursday and we will then start once that gets completed we will then start developing our campaign around education and so we have slated to spend the entire month of November Rule the rolling out a lot of information to parents about the new Port Credit about the greeting to help them understand standards-based grading and and how were and how we're approaching I'm giving giving props about how their students are doing I know some of you have heard but we have to give some more accolades to our teachers the math leadership Corps has won an reward and so on October 23rd we will be presenting and receiving award for the California Council on teacher education for advancing current pedagogy and this was at an award being given with all all public and private colleges and universities in California this and this one the award so we're very we're very excited to be a part of the part of that award along with Loyola Marymount University in the leonetti O'Connell Family Foundation too quick little updates how to an initial Library plant meeting we're going to carve a little a little spaced out or spilling something I learned from The Architects turn one of those meetings which is put a little put a little pilot light classroom in place and we're going to put a little Library Nook and place them in between CMS and cchf and we kind of play a little bit with a make it more of a digital literacy Center and you may remember you what is money in the in the El Cap to do some upgrades to our library digitally and and with some digital resources and maybe put some cool furniture that actually Architects gave us some ideas so I was taking copious notes as so we're really excited about that with with an emphasis on access and sew in bring that as we go more digital throughout throughout our K12 system that we aren't Creed at Gap of stop to that technology so with that came some funding for some beyond the belt and some increase Library hours so we'll be kind of piloting a me around with a a new little space that we be used as a model at the elementary schools as well and finally Army PLC has been meeting and turn are studying K-12 where we are with vocal and instrumental music and are going to be kind of comparing with some some surrounding districts and some even farther away and and kind of kind of doing a little a little needs assessment and I'm coming up with some recommendations of of how we Cannon we're reaching your more kids and and you'll across that K12 with I think a specific emphasis on again around 4th and 5th grade we're looking at whether a pullout system as the best ways or a different way of doing it and so are our music PLC group is meeting Kevin kronfeld is is helping facilitate at but they're meeting at they're going to update the spin a number of years but they wears a cape called music plan so they're going to be updating that and coming with some recommendations in the future take a little bit of time I think they meet play and they made what's a couple of meetings in there but they will be coming to us with some recommendations thank you and it's locked please don't move so off they don't you're sharing so I enjoy attending the LA Mariana back to school night was awesome very well attended classroom presentations but I was real struck with how many parents were there volunteering was just a ton of pampas they are excited about this pool they are excited about the year that was really exciting to see they had little light just was very it was a very nice of it so I was really happy to be there on October 22nd we thought our lunch turn with students from Cosby high school and Culver Park if you know the Culver City the city of Culver City and CCSD are partnering for the first time in the student internship project we had a lunch and learn so that we would be able to discuss the program all the requirements students met with Serena right and a fear Garcia from the city of Culver City Human resources and LaShawn afraid of myself for their from the district we had a police officer and detective speaking about the internship that they're offering and the law enforcement and what the interest will be doing we had no idea how many students would attend this lunch and learn but we were extremely excited when approximate 85 students showed up on the 22nd of September Tuesday the 22nd and so they were all they're getting the application is asking great questions and want to know if they wanted to if we fit their some references to be provided to bless their resumes so really really impressed with the fact that they were so well prepared for offering the in next to 11th and 12th graders who have a 2.08 point average students will have a three or better yet a better they have to maintain also great attendance not only just school but in there in shift as well we only have 30 Xbox so with 85 student shut up we know that there is a definite interest something that we want to try and expand I'd lie think Adrian Madrid the counselor at the high school at 2 well as Mary and Sara Pete ignition for all their help and I just was really really pleased with the turnout so I'm looking forward to internship starting Thursday and Friday. turn down Rebecca Williams Mary Soto on Rayford and I will be attending the association of California school administrators women's leadership Forum which is going to be held in I'm looking forward to all the outstanding workshops that will be held in the areas of powerment Korean advancement and creating leadership Pathways for women this is this will be a great form for us to discuss the importance and the need for women's lean in to push and pull and to support each other in education educators thank you thank you mr. Paul's is that okay there is a resolution on the agenda tonight to support the Statewide facilities Bond initiative this is an initiative that's been brought about by are grouped rather than the legislature or hoping the initiative will I end up on the ballot it could potentially mean 7.1 $8000000 in can oceans fried District that will help the ridge are measure CC funds and get us closer to the total amount of needs identified it's had some issues with a hydration station and working in those there's a couple letters till probably at functional at the mall but Carrey net it all about for baby it's been working closely with the vendor to address those issues especially with the heat and want to make sure that every single one is working properly odd tonight of the Seahawk citizens Bond oversight committee has asked the board to consider change in the currency backed by law office that would permit them to conduct up to 12 meetings per year rather than the current hordley meeting are restriction Jamie Wallace are chair of the cboc I will provide an update on to back meetings and also explain rationale for their request Dave as Dave mentioned we have a weave review seven different architectural firms we're very pleased I think week 19 response for request for proposals Tampa's difficult process to to get that list down to 7 I'll all 19 or highly qualified forms some local in the area and we're really pleased also we recently received the prestigious environment Excellence award APA due to the efforts or environmental sustainability committee and the co-chair in our calorie cycle consultant Shake Cunningham the Excellence the SoCal environmental development award traded honor local individuals groups and businesses that have exhibit the Excellence in helping to improve environmental sustainability and the quality of life in the South Bay this year is the 8th Annual seed or does the couplet there's seven different categories of awards and are a green five sustainable program one for the education and Outreach category okay um are you people listen Aya are you ready to tell us Culver City Middle School so breast cancer shirts and we're doing this for the Susan G Komen Foundation in 20% of our sales go to the to that Foundation we have a black and a White Shepherd of the my forgot to bring it today I'm sorry they're both $12 when we saw them at lunch and if you were at the kids to students can wear them and you can get a Penta .45 them we don't know if we can wear them pee yet decided we made about $250 last year selling T-shirts rub week is coming up it will be from October 12th Thru the 16th and we have to wear orange all week we're going I think they're going to give up at the points they'll been Panther points going up so we also have our walk and rollers that's going to be on October 7th and that's the I think it's National walk to school day so we're going to have like a meeting spot where have three meeting spots and will tell this what it in whichever spot has the most kids and forgets to school first then like I think they get like a special prize like they might get like us lunch or something like that decided on the price yet also are green 5 but I have a lunch for them on October 21st and we're going to have a poster contest for the 2 and the theme is superheroes draw 5 R's in the superhero however you want and the winner gets the there posted bro be like hung up around the pole School and our Halloween dances will be on October 30th from 5 to 7 and we're going to include the Haunted Hallway again cuz it was a really big hit last year we made the majority of our money from that and it's yeah how much and I Angela prepared on September 15th to say chest held its first very first voter registration of bed and I was happy to see some of you there like mr. Rowe said Alex Padilla was their district judge superintendent of LAUSD schools at the Rosen Plaza was there and assemblymember the best Sebastian ridley-thomas was there Facebook at the option of create assembly which a lot of students went to and I was with spies and I know dr. V was happy about the and Doctor coupe with the VSP press set set a few things regarding CC chest and there's a video about how they just got civically involved which is good what an asp special event coordinator made that took her all weekend so I like the video there was a fair at lunch did various Civic action products and there are some clubs are like interact and speech and debate and then students are also able to meet and speak with the elected officials and I I was happy to talk to Jack John Edina and the fan on Monday September 21st we had the UCLA blood drive and we do anything 100 pints of blood so we potentially saved 309 Ives and that was actually the most like blood we've got it for the past I think 3 years ously I had a meeting with Miss bharvad yesterday the director of activities and discuss some of the issues that came up at the house of reps meeting and then she she was able to put in work orders for the to get a leprechaun one of the Stalls infect girls restroom and to put mirrors in the boys restroom and then the Hydration Stations actually the cement came in and actually fix them today so so some students are happy about that and to school night is tomorrow and it starts at 6 we will see you then if this point them is the audience that would like to communicate I have any cards this Williams cards Estero Jamie let's go bored I guess need to learn how to do Powerpoints and things like that I still behind I'm wearing my hat as the co-chair of the backpacks for kids program I thought since here I might as well give you guys an update last year we were hung around 50 backpacks a week now Weber hovering near night near 198 our first week we had 93 last week and I think we're easily going to go over 100 this year and want to say that we have we put about $10 worth of food in each backpack and it's easy to eat easy to prepare for the so the kids can eat it on the weekends is there folks are at work or are able to help them out this is weekend food that we give them so they can come in Monday morning ready to learn and Flow what we're always hoping for we're going to be hold at the food drive in the district that short one or two week one and what schools and I do expect that the district will will outdo itself this last year was amazing you guys gave us to truck loads worth of food and I think there was competition between the two floors maybe you'll put the building in half this time I'll leave set you guys the food drives bring in about 30 to 40% of the food that we actually need and that also includes the food drives that we've been Pavilion due to a year do you want to give us a list me other things that think that you prefer like we have a very specific yeah so 850 bucks at Smart & Final to spend $1,100 Metro restaurant supply and that will take us about halfway to Christmas because picking up milk and pudding and goes fast so we're spending $1,000 a week $4,000 a month putting food into the backpacks and what can use all the help that we can get monetarily and also any volunteers who want to come help us because right now I broke my husband into it both of us are sick we're in trouble backpacking day which is Thursday I want to absolutely thank the ASB at the middle school these kids are amazing every Thursday actually Wednesday is now sorry and they are able to pack 98 backpacks in 25 minutes so they make our life so much easier our staff at the middle school for putting up with us and are unloading and loading a food and backpacks and the janitorial staff are amazing cuz they slept 98/100 back to the front on Friday morning for the volunteers to pick up so that's where backpacks are right now and if anyone any questions I'd be more than happy to answer them spaghetti and things like we actually drop the spaghetti and the pasta this year because we kept on getting glass jar that pasta and that is problematical and also we realize that stuff for little kids to make pasta so we've gone to more easy to eat foods like when old granola bars peanut butter Ritz crackers mac and cheese cereal shelf-stable milk canned pop you know like the Chef Boyardee pop we have fruit cups pudding and granola bars that's what we put in our backpacks right now so we have a very specific list shelf-stable milk is what it's called uht of ultra heat-treated and it can actually sit on the shelf and we give them one container of chocolate one container of Milla every single week so that get some nice protein and once they open it you're supposed to refrigerate it but I think I'll probably slurp it up about 8 ounces calcium you really do a good job thank you so much and then we have mr. chernus Madam president members of the school board name is Darrell I belong to a group of people who have been playing tennis at the hot School tennis courts liberally for several last Sunday September 27th and 2 Sundays ago September 13th the 10 Sports were locked no prior notification was given to anyone Place tennis of the attention of the school district to lock the school to lock the what tennis courts from Simpsons going to come up from a historical perspective several years ago for the crib who was in office the policy of requiring people to fill out an application who wanted to use escorts fill out an application pants small fee and receive a picture ID of tennis court user permit I tell you honestly that no one in my group has notified about this practice no one has been totaled since 2011 that it's necessary to fill out an application or pay a fee or get a picture ID so clearly it's within the purview love this book to do so if you wish to but if you want to you need to notify the public we can't be held responsible for doing something when we're not giving notifications so I would hope that the vote would take this issue up I would hope that the future that other courts are not Cooks down without notifying the in a Democratic Society don't close public facilities without notifying the public so please keep this mind and as I said if wish to reinstitute the toll policy at so old you can see that the cards chipped can you want to reinstitute this Papa see it's your privilege please notify the public sing to pay the small fee to do so thank you very much okay we are at the mic with the citizens oversight committee order sounds like my dad's a little humor I remembered Darryl last time because my next door neighbor was one of those tennis players he's quite L right now unfortunately but Easton rise bike over there every Sunday I think it don't think it's a big deal and I think it's brought to stash attention you taken care of under what what the lockdown was about but I'm sure to be taken care of and I need my reading glasses so school night tomorrow night looking forward to the high school not quite sure just almost made me figured out how to get to 10 classes and 6. No pain book of yeah so I'll be running around a bit but I always enjoy it Tillman that was great back to school night as well great to see the new principal there and lot of a lot of positive energy good nap and that's cool same lot of parents wait to see you in a lot of volunteers from high school helping to staff the they had to guess big shell out front or something I want to give him some milk please to mot in terms of the air conditioning in on the heat but I also have a friend who was one of our tents and was mot the day that it rained and she said those folks and Main stop irations Warfare just hightailing it to help with all the newly discovered Lakes visit when was the last time it rained I'm in so I really have to get the kudos to our Emoji stuff for there being Just A Step Above and Beyond during all of these various issues that come up with you know we always think of this Benson the teachers in the teachers that you know in and kind of the front line but really there's there's so many people that play educational experience what is here from top to bottom already mentioned several times but I really enjoyed tending that and seeing all the students involved and and the realest presentations now blades from the Olympics that were their kind of really giving us some recognition and goes for the efforts doctor Valverde is put in place to bring to the the students attention the importance of voting the importance of being engaged and importance of civets I bought a blood was one of those are better than 3 pints do I do that because it's you know it's quick way to lose a pound so been part of the architectural architecture interview process belong with the zoo in there for many hours we got another round of this week in then I guess the last one is next week so it's part of what the board does and subcommittees of the board doesn't invariance aspects of really trying to make sure that we're on top of what we're supposed to be doing here and just wanted to know today's up and go paint day for Planned Pethood I think that you know the front lines of of Women's Healthcare and Woman's Worth is really being again assaulted and organizations like Planned Parenthood and I think of our very own sickness eagle you tell Center is really brought the education that is and the services services to our young women and men as well which is why our school district has the lowest pregnancy rates around me look at state but don't buy those Services District provide those services and you see the pregnancy rates go up the road about education about providing Health Care on to everyone not just those that can afford it so I wanted to put that out there today what's the Farragut PTA meeting and it was really impressive to see the parents how active turns are in an evolved community at the middle school back to school night and it was a lot of fun to go to County teacher of the year luncheon with Kelly Roberts and Katie and Dave and a few other people I want to remind everybody that if y'all open house is coming up set a tent at 11 if you've got a kid who's interested in Science and Technology and Engineering and spaced come on out to week we only get about 1000 people for the open house weekend so I'm sure they'll be plenty of room you can find me there all day on Saturday if you go to the new area but also wanted to raise the suggestion for what think would wind up being a standing the item and that is Dave you and I talked about this really briefly last Friday I think it would be good if we had a running calendar that we took a look at every sink board meeting that showed things that were coming up for meetings I know we get that list but it would be good if we looked at I'm in public and everybody else could as well could see what's company and on that same calendar we have timelines for things like the bond process than other other things that are bored business that are coming up over the year I realize we'll be adjusting that constantly that's another reason to show it every couple of weeks when we have we're meeting so we can all keep in mind we're petted and what kind of things were looking to Inn in the future so I'd like to request of my fellow members that we asked to put that on the agenda essentially every what are you doing that take in terms of time and or staff effort and or wit me where's the meeting itself 5 minutes last time what's coming up for staff in general people have an idea already if things they're planning to bring to the board and is that where you're obviously keeping a schedule in a calendar of major events just a matter of putting it together so you can let us know whether that seems like a argument a score alarm for 1 or somewhere in between I believe we can we kind of have internal template and we end at Newell we share that with you from time to time I think that we can is that as a template and have a conversation and and maybe add a column or two as it relates to measure see update so we'll take a look at what we have and get a draft out to you since great thanks I think that's all I had thank you Katie for following up on the music program I think the last time they had put play some kind of plan is at the height of the recession so thank you for following up and revisiting that because I think we definitely do want increase access if they Elementary School levels in order turn down the program also thank you Dave and Mike for getting information out to the local press about the bond happening as I met don't you Dave it was a bit like reading War and Peace with the long but thank you for getting it out and hopefully next time it will get the cliff notes version of warranty also I'd like to congratulate the adult school team Veronica Montes and her team they were awarded over two hundred five thousand the force investment act money for the 2015-16 year it was posted on the CD website so very good and then also just wanted to mention that I attended the first lyric board meeting it was held at the Burbank Unified District officers on September 18th so they had the five voting members of are tangent Los Angeles Regional adult education consorcia their aunt so their members voting member from Culver City for Burbank Montebello lhd and laccd and I think board member should be aware there there the next meeting there going to be talking about the governance structure and right now what is being proposed is that each member have one vote and I think that's in our best interest that each member has one vote because if they do it based on enrollment I think we'll have .8 so I'll keep you guys apprised of what's happening with bat I'm kind of surprised we haven't been getting any board policy or administrative regulations we were doing a lot of them I guess I got did we get all caught up is that what happened or no we're still started okay cuz we don't have enough to read in those work packet kind of light we did lots of architecture proposals to read sensor alright alright I'm so sorry okay and then I just said tomorrow night I'm actually in board member can is office Sebastian ridley-thomas people came to visit to talk about clipping me cheap McApp and I was the one that said you really need to talk to pull her City at what are doing just invested interest and then lastly just wanted to mention you no one think about safety I think we always think about physical safety of our students and there's a campaign that's happening right now in one of our larger School District called now Slater and it's like a proactive and anti-texting campaign so basically it's educating the students about the consequences UPS texting sorry I just thought it was a good idea maybe we can look at doing something cuz I know we have had some issues with that in the past that's it thank you if you want material if I know where we can get them I was told by famous Tyrwhitt so I mean those those instruments are all out there and kids hands and all thing is just fabulous Susan Hart the first of all I have to say Mr Turner's there had not been a discussion of the board has not had a discussion can admit any policy change regarding the use of the tennis court I think what happened was just an error on somebody's part so just so you know where make the rules are okay I also attended the registration date was fantastic it was so nice to have our school being nights are students represented themselves beautifully it was a proud moment to just sit there and watch them represent us it was great and it was hot and it would be really fantastic when we get our plans approved for the frost and we can get started I'm also super excited about the award for the MLB program I think it's it's we've known that it's a really great thing and it's really wonderful to have it recognized outside of our district at well and I look forward to seeing some really excellent results few years down the road with our students to perform in math both coming out of elementary and middle school and high school and college internship program that's exciting do I have a special place in my heart for internship programs and it's really nice to see the students were so excited and I think we could do look at ways to expand that another topic of awards disability committee I've been attending their meetings and they're excited about their word and well-deserved they have done a tremendous stop I mean I still say managing to get an entire pools worth of middle schoolers to not just put your trash away even get them to put it into a respectacle of some sort isn't accomplished but they have them separated is phenomenal and it's it's an amazing thing to taste absolutely great the architect interviews have been time consuming but also inspiring I was so excited to see how written all of them were just impressive organizations there's so much expiring work they done ready all power options in terms of architectural firms have done work that's leed-certified extensive work that's leed-certified is California high-performing schools certified at these are great organizations and I'm excited to to make our final titians and move forward going to be fantastic they have great ideas they've done great work they can solve so many of our problems and that's all I have to say I just remind everybody to go to open house at the high school tomorrow it's always exciting I learned something what time I going I'm doing it for years so why broke the habit we have some some nice occurrences in Culver generally but something unusual happened at our company tree service and and I just think it's so spectacular an event for the children service usually excited to watch him run around drive there prayer crazy like my kids did but there was a visit Nation bought a representative us and she spoke and she addressed the children and I'm thinking that's of play unusual circumstance I was taken with that Surplus to all of our local Representatives on the national and state scene I think we're very Merchants Culver City we know what another we care about one another and that's the way it should be right Jamie alright I'm with that up we can take a break recess fat to 6 minutes anybody will get glass of water and we'll be back turn on Bluetooth I haven't bought haven't seen my Watson 632 we are in 13.1 calling back to order 8:35 send me on 13 point one when our places with bright shiny faces may I have a motion play twins right you're right have it on me I guess we going to ask good Amy Wallace the Charis he bought to return to the podium and give us a little update on activity you're kidding so we've have to three meetings so far this year and we've been reviewing the presentation we had a great presentation on the frost we were able to look at the 2.7 million worth of invoices to make sure that the coincide with the bond language and you'll be happy to know that we all denamarin animus Lee decided that they did so gives us a glimpse of the incredible job that staff is doing and all of the consultants and that you guys are doing to set things up it's amazing when we am at it after the expenditures and looking at it you guys thought of everything you guys have gone through every single stop and it's it's it's really encouraging although I'm still waiting to see the notation about Dave's luxury Skybox at the frost if it's going to be what luxuries to the wine box was at the Chipotle Stadium you have multiple Sky boxes I'd like to say thank you to Mike and Charles split sit there and they answer every single question that my wonderful board was come up with and some of them for a bit challenging they have been what plan formative and we truly appreciate all of the input and all the information if they don't have cancer for us they they get it for us for the next meeting and it just makes our job so much easier the reason I'm here is cording to the laws says the committee shall meet at least once a year that's good but shall not meet or freak raisin quarterly what were you getting to realize is that especially with the pile of invoices that we went through last month that if we if we keep meet more frequently we're going to get slammed with a huge puddle of invoices that we are going to have to review and I've fast Mike if you wouldn't mind sending us a summary of what was involved in invoice so that my my fellow board members could understand a little better stop by the architect you know the cost for the props why the concrete floor for the Athletic Facility you know to really be see what's going on so the problem is that if we meet quarterly have one more meeting this year and that's it so we're asking if it was possible I don't think we're going to meet till time to year I don't think enough of us will be in one place with the one at one time we have to cancel summer meeting this only four of us showed up but we knew the others wouldn't be there so we're basically asking if we can have a little bit of leeway to tell meetings when we need them that's going to be basically based on what Mike is telling us the issues are or if there's presentations like went in the are you guys going to do that Natatorium I'm so curious I think I'm really interested in that one and I'm sure my fellow board members up to so basically that's what working if you would mind changing language I guess to Mike wrote it out to not more than 12 pensgear believe me we're not going to me 12 times and that's pretty much we were down two members we lost one moving out of town and fortunately we lost a Andy Alexander next to her back in the April meeting she was a hoot but the rest of us are plugged in the long so basically that's our request that search be changed to allow apps to have more meetings and we promise we will behave ourselves Michael do you want to come in at all that you see any reason for not doing this it sounds like you've approved it and it seems a reasonable request what is your muscles to push my buttons so it's not red green thing I talked about last Westheimer stop increasing the number of meetings I think the more meetings we have the like the last less into the evening I will be doing with the same British it's whether it's over a few meetings the committee is really doing a remarkable job at 4 finally and I think Jamie would agree with finally hitting our stride where is reviewing invoices and doing the things that they'll be for convene them to do so I Have No Reservations about additional meetings person from my own perspective on Anna compliance note we don't have Indian or must we replace and be back by a certain time the decision originally was to statue we had to put 7 and we will 1199 / something 11 so they don't have to be the representation group The People the seven members that we have right now to represent all of the groups that were busted in the bond so we're fight on that thank you thank you that's what I can concern that alright so I should make a motion give me I have a lot this is not parliamentarian our meetings are much less by the way just miss me when I'm gone thank you thank you so much thanks for the backpacks and thank you for committee and your dedication for the community yes appreciate it thank you so just to clarify the procedure is this will be on the agenda for the next meeting and we will vote help later on in this joint okay so I am at 14.13 Point want to purchase the Improvement of agreements between PS arts and the Culver City Unified School District and I have a motion to approve this agreement play Smooth is there any discussion is there an interesting for for rtk program 3071 Target in our for our three title ones Bulls hits t k through 5th grade as you know lecture we create a pilot program keg create through a partnership with Sony so Sony a provided $3,000 we provide $2,000 that went to our elementary schools and our Middle School to support Visual Arts that was to stop liment those sites that already had dollars dead headed to that but it was quite frankly also seed money for those sites that didn't have anything associated with visual art so is very successful things that we saw and have heard over and over what is very important to the programs that existed Farragut and and El Marino is a for structured program with it with a teacher curriculum dedicated dates and time to provide those opportunities for kids so we we started look at that as as how can we take this to the next level what it in that we have looked a variety of other service providers PS Arts well-renowned highly-regarded provides fish Bart's throughout Santa Monica had a meeting skip them at El Rincon we had representation from parent groups from or three Title 1 school principals former 3 Title 1 schools Sony was there Fairfield Foundation was was there as well Kevin kronfeld was there from a l cap and title one perspective and through that we identify set a collaborative where a Sony would continue to step up and up the ante for the sites that did not have dedicated teaching it was Associated to visual arts Kevin was able to confirm an identify that $2 were already dedicated to and through the El Cap and it was appropriate use site dollars so we offended that Tony and strict partnership to Sony the district and the individual sculpt site so we can have more intentional Visual Arts programs that all five elementary schools thank you very much and get a motion to approve 14.1 agreement between PS arts and Culver Indiana fights Steve already did it so call for a boat I know okay the vote pets and so does that 14.1 here we go 14.1 also am I am I down to 14.0 Micron Fortune 500k this is the oversight committee bylaws and they want the Bob X here we already heard about that may I have a motion to approve 14 I think it's important when we set up committees like the volunteers from the community or duping you know really good work for us and our pitching in that they have as much control as we can give them over how they meet when they meet adjustments to do what their function is if they come back and say you know we think you've assisted this we think it would be this plus that we should pay a lot of attention to that because the whole point of the committee is there anything more attention to Pacifica to look at that time too all said and I agree completely sorry and I think that are the original structure was based on the sched to the language so you know the fact that works painting on how to scrape because if they want to meet Wilson 14 points 14.2 comment on this around Michael revolution in the uniform cost accounting act will enable us to move much play on projects that are above the current $50,000 off of contract code been limit to set up a state order to allow this to move much more quickly which is what we intend to do this for a while but we took add Italy feel to be very beneficial to our district any they are the both of us in favor motion carries movie 14.32 No 3 resolution number 7 to support kindergarten Community College public education facilities Bond at 2016 do you want to say anything Michael I just turn my I do that all the time Josh is asking televised this is an initiative as I mentioned earlier by the voters the legislature and tried time and time again to put facilities bond for education but they have not been able to get it through the governor's off now for several years so finally this initiative was put forward and it'll be on the ballot we hope and then it will pass we hope and as I mentioned earlier simple things happen and if the rules governing the procedure for Distributing the funds remain the same we're barely near the top of the list so yeah and I write out of state would they are 7.1 $8 in matching funds for investment in the Athletic Complex I have a motion I moved part of it was those plants were pretty show ready and the other part of it was we had this state Bond money that would burn line for that better not run out the would have had it by now but we're hoping for now so it was Watson on on many many levels hopefully will get what's seen that 7 million poured back into our overall Capital funds weird at the Personnel action items for 15.1 prove is recommended for new certificate administrative job description educational audiology I'm at the motion please Summit there any discussions never vote please but was in favor I motioned carapace and the self about the way she this night is going to go to Steven she's the only okay do you mind set on mine I think I did it last time though. I will read through the things that probably will so did everybody set up the agenda yes I think so pitch there about the order of things but I think we always knew what we were supposed to meeting everybody with no spy conversations we snuff I noticed treat each other with respect courtesy and a little bit of you Maria and Anna contribute to an atmosphere of trust and open I certainly hope so boo believe so focus on governance rather than operations during presentations discussion I'm usually the one who's worsted that but I think we did a good job Fort Lee agenda and not get sidetracked yes it was permission provided in a manner that made it easily understandable yet and was the agenda well-planned Pocus on the work with the board yet so I think we did a great job on all of those things I feel better because I was going to give myself that I'm first but everything is preciate it and now may I have a motion to adjourn please never vote please listen favor televised it's time to get ripped for bed
