see we still have some folks coming in I'm dr. Kelly can on the school board of course but I'm just replacing the role of our superintendents executive assistant Rebecca Williams right now and reminding everyone of our board procedures which is simply that we are going into closed session right now and the item on that agenda is 2.1, friends with labor negotiator and We are following the same procedures we ask everyone to keep their video off unless they do have public comment for items on that agenda which is simply not conference with labor negotiator and the call is as follows and I'm sorry of course the window locked me out and I was going to read from what's written on our poor dogs agenda but locked me out right as I was planning to do so I'll try to when we will take public, by you raising your hand and call you in the order that your hand goes up and there are a fair number of us so I expect it if there are a lot of folks wanting to make public comment that will limit that to 2 minutes but I will leave that to our president is there anything I'm forgetting cuz I'm bored ox's failing me so I'm not able to read from the script after all have I forgotten anything doctor mckeithen no I think you got the high points thank you open the session at 4:08 p.m. all of the board members are present we will now open it up to 1.2% on closed session item as Doctor Kent said item 2.1 if anybody has a comment they would like to to make please use the hand raised feature in zoom and I will call you in that order okay I see one hand raised as soon as Santa Catarina sorry are we doing 2 minutes or 1 3 minutes 2 or 3 minutes I'm going to seduce only one hand raised at 3 and then if we have more real due to we have Dave milky as well Miss Pat Sweeney a good afternoon it's really more of a procedural question that is probably burning on everyone's Minds right now when you call a last-minute meeting like this just for transparency and tomorrow and everything that I think all of us are fighting for and obviously I know you have laws that you follow but it would be good to know who calls these meetings if it's the five of you if it's cabinet if it can be either or if the five if you have to call a meeting because of brown act that you can't speak I think I speak for almost everyone in the audience when I say we would love to know what this meeting is about you have a group of parents that would are probably here eagerly waiting to hear you say the schools are going to open you have a group of stuff that like the community should know that our district is refusing to vaccinate teacher and that 100 out of 135 elementary teachers will not return unvaccinated and the. Holding up the reopening of school there's a lot of information that could prove would be prevented if there was a little bit more transparency needs to be happening right here so I'm not sure what you're able to say butt in again I've heard you all asked for more transparency and I think that the stress mobile right now is possible even through a computer thank you thank you Miss. Sarina I'll take date Dave milky and then I'll I'll be able to respond to you Miss about sweetie I'll be brief the just caught me off-guard you know what's the board meeting about and in a labor-management partnership we expect not to be surprised right I was the union president here for 32 years I've lived through adversarial relationships and I've lived in a partnership relationship and clearly a partnership relationship his and we know it's better for morale and better for student achievement actually and what I see is the partnership really fraying and I just think as we work through the real difficult surrounding reopening of the schools and safety for students and safety for employees that the more we partner together the more likely we are to get two solutions that we can all live with and so my two cents is let's recommit to the partnership it's easy to be partners when there are not heart issues when there are hard issues it's more difficult but more necessary to work together and so let's do that thank you thank you mr. milkie so just to make a comment in order the board to come together to speak together we actually have to do it in a board meeting and so the one closed session item is negotiations negotiations is an item that always lives in closed session and if any other board members want to make a comment please do but negotiations are always something that we discuss as a board in closed session yeah if mind I'd like to just say quickly I don't think I'm violating any rules by saying we bring the Goshi ation to close session every meeting and it often doesn't take a long time but as although there's a lot going on right now and so last time we try to talk about in closed session we said we needed a lot more time and we'll bring up things that we didn't get a chance to talk about concussion and I'll be sleeping really fast so you remember I said if we need a meeting on short notice we might have to do that there's nothing like hidden and secret going here going on here we're not making any decisions were just talking and closed session because that's the only way we can thank you we have one other hand Greg oakner ochre mispronounce your name Greg parent of an elementary school kid in first grade at El Rincon Elementary in a like I don't know if this comment is misplaced cuz I don't know the purpose of this being exactly but just trying to understand the options that are being proposed that we have that were being required to respond to this next week for the change and kids going back to school and trying to understand exactly what is being proposed because it seems like right now with our kids being remote to get about 16 hours or so of direct video interface with a teacher versus what I can understand of the new proposed halfling school half remote is that they really want to get like five hours of interaction with the teacher and the rest is going to be video stop through seesaw and that we keep talking about our kids mental health and stuff like that and I'm just concerned that by disrupting my child who's got the Rhythm that he's in right now with the teacher being kind of thrown into this situation along with potentially a whole new teacher and whole new class trying to understand how that's being juggled in with all this stuff that's my calling thank you thank you so much I will also love to invite you to our board meeting on Tuesday when we do the reopening to share your comments with us again in the end session I guess my concern about that is that that leaves us less than 24 hours before we're required to return our our paperwork back to the school district and that the people that much time to react to it okay then I would actually then advise you to email us because we can't actually speak on things that are not agendized and this is outside of that range so if if you don't and you can email any of the board members are any of the cabinet man in members with that that would that question okay thank you, I say something Justin light up a lot of the the confusion that's been caused by a special board meeting being called which we are well within the time frame of announcing it and publicizing it but understanding that these are like really uncertain times and everyone's with bated breath to find out what's going to happen next I would just love to maybe get some nodding heads from my colleagues on the board that maybe we can have a discussion about any time we plan a special board meeting and even if we do it within the time frame we have a notice sent out throughout the district just saying the nature of the board meeting and giving a little bit more context so that we are able to maybe address some concerns that people have don't know how it works or think it's about one thing and it's about something else so I just left some nodding head about that yeah I think I think I think that that the question is do you know how much can we divulge because is a closed session item not about the item but just this is a board meeting that's being called the end the item itself is kind of self-explanatory but if we put it in more layman terms in just as a courtesy to the public to let them know this is what the item is that's definitely not violating from it up and the people are so concerned about this so clearly we didn't communicated as well as we would have liked to the people I don't think there's any being here for you all to be worried about but we obviously didn't tell you enough information because a whole bunch of people are so I want to jump in cuz we're not supposed to be having this conversation it would appear in another in another space where we bring up word matters but I do think that a discussion is warranted on an agenda about this is a very valid suggestion is in perfect response to mr. milke's comments about the partnership not knowing about this either so I'd love to discuss it as a word if we could yes I don't think we can we can only not heads to put on the agenda but not the bright and that's what that's what I was looking for Talking Heads to agree we should put this on my agenda thank you all Just for clarity and being sober I just want to point out to people that it was there no action on the agenda for possession so you knew in advance for not taking books
