Culver City Unified School District

Message from the Superintendent - Threat Rumor

February 15, 2016

Late this afternoon we were notified by Culver City Police that they had received a report of an alleged threat at Culver City High School. CCPD immediately contacted me, CCUSD security and CCHS administration. The report indicated a student had overheard a threat about a possible shooting at CCHS. The report referenced "Tuesday" however was otherwise general and non-specific. CCPD investigated the report and were able to quickly determine that no credible threat exists.

Therefore, the purpose of this message is to proactively dispel any rumors or misinformation that- as we all know- can easily spread via social media and cause undue anxieties while disrupting teaching and learning.

Again, the report was investigated and quickly deemed not credible.

I hope you had an enjoyable Presidents Day weekend and we expect tomorrow will be another great day for our Centaurs - and all CCUSD students.

My thanks to our partners at CCPD and my appreciation for your support.

Dave LaRose, Superintendent for Culver City Unified School District
