good afternoon everyone thank you for joining us again on this continuation meeting at today is May 24th 4:05 p.m. and a continuation meeting is basically we took a recess last night and the exact a genda will be reviewed and completed today as of yesterday there will be no public comment today as is a continuation meeting and that was all completed yesterday so today we are going to start I'm going to ask a question a parliamentarian we do not need to take roll call again do we want there's five board members present for roll call just in case we need to do that but the first agenda item that we will be taking taking on would be 7.4 we haven't reached consent agenda yet so we're going to start with 7.4 then go into 7.7 and then we'll go into consent okay so 7.4 superintendent's report please mr. Tran thank you I'm president Amazon if I could use some of my minutes tonight to share an exciting project and I think it's been we spend the whole year was actually misandry in Cassidy spent the entire year last year to put together donations and support from three sponsors but I'm going to give the minutes to her to share what we've created we have the school district and dream thank you mr. china cabinet SD staff and Community I have the honor of being the sustainability coordinator for three and a half years here at the school district and during this time I had the chance to work with so many wonderful staff and students that have inspired me to continue in my work and unfortunately I will not be continuing with ccusd but we worked on a lot of significant projects in water conservation pollution prevention Etc we also supported through the environmental sustainability committee a green New Deal that was recognized last year on Earth Day and I hope this cabinet will support with budgets and changes that will help the school district tackle climate change it is here it is now we don't have time to mess around we have to get on with these sustainability projects and I know that you will find the best possible person to replace me and so one of the projects dear to my heart was showcasing sustainability means in a school district and with the great support and Partnership of the Culver City Culver City Education Foundation we applied for the highest grant that the Culver's rotary Awards and we got it and return to other organizations like bionic Renaissance and the snco and we put together this new video that I hope we'll all enjoy it is here for you for the school district I will do my best to Showcase it in every place I can think of for the next year but I hope you will utilize it too and go to your meetings and show that ccusd cares about the environment and that it takes all of us and that we can all make a difference so I'm going to see if I can share my screen and show you this video whiskey and iced tea yes hopefully the shower the sound is not when your perspective starts if I work you become in a way bigger than yourself as you look at things nearby you may notice they are connected to your own world street cleaners for sustainability in action in just a few hours of work from students and community cleaning up trash prevents hundreds of pounds of trash from reaching the ocean soon it becomes obvious that everything is connected to everything else it's super easy to organize your trash after you leave we have these three bands or you put food in the compost bin to compost helps in the class shells fruit veggies the recycling man is pure aluminum your plastic and turn the trash into something new in the landfill you put other trash in the grave in trash that catfish used for anything and it's really easy once you get the hang of it my teaching sustainability we training out Tunes to see their place in the big and complex World things I'm worried about number one is going to be how warm the ocean is going to be getting after time they come to appreciate the impact that each of us have on the environment we can change our environment by what we eat organic Life by what we throw away biking is great because I reduce my carbon footprint Everyday by not driving school walking school buses are great alternatives to driving to school reducing traffic and Phylicia I start to see a greater truth. All of us are dependent on each other and our environment I realize that all of us are connected that everything I do affect other people so I really can make a difference call make a difference so let's do it thank you so much Annie okay and this particular link will be shared with the video will be share a co-worker pride and we going to post it on our website as well and then sure that out as anywhere any place any social media that we have we will share this wide and far thank you century next is I need to give me 10 second missing something I just received I'm sure with the board a a multi-year projection about budget I'm going to forward that to all of our members in the board right here right now send me to the last night we had some conversation some coming from public is that there are numbers and projections about budget and since we didn't get the chance to address that on that's an agenda item I asked her staff today to Ashley share the sum of the internal calculation to where we are and I'm inviting board to look at these shared document that I have to email it to you and I will open up and share that on Zoom with the with the public we using the pull-down then will block the camera I'm not would not I just want to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the the multi-year it's only one page the on the table if you looking at line item number 2920 salary increase 1% is roughly $800,000 and if it's 8% that the impact to the budget would be 6.4 million dollars so that as of right now that's 8% is propose salary increase for both units units h t c f e n n a I staring at this one okay some kind of highlight line 20 d line number five on top is the federal revenue this will receive roughly 4.8 million dollars coming in next year the reduction will be down to about two point 2.1 million dollars and then the year after we were looking at again projecting to be able to point $1000000 from the federal government the state revenue this current year is is at 27 million with a lot of one-time funds going from the last two years into this year this next year we anticipating a reduction down to about 13.8 and moving forward into 2024 25 we don't know what the amount would be but we projected to be on 13.8 million dollars we have a penalty that is still in the book that we trying to address with the state regarding the J 13 waiver so that is still there for this year and then decrease and the other local Reverend is measure K and other sources of funding some of the rental land we have the degenerating come for us that's about 5 million dollars the next to 3 years so protection board based on internal calculation if you go down to below in the net change in funding balance line number 29 the way that anticipating right now without knowing for sure how much Federal funding will be for sure in the month of September we won't know that till September and as well as the the State dollars is still not definitively set at this point I'm looking at possibly next year having to look some reduction in in in spending we're looking at ten million dollars of deficit spending at this point assuming that the 8% is a fully ratified and accepted by the board with both unions I'll stop you if I can answer any question would have spoken this is your report so more information for coming tonight I'm sorry for the next few days to state budget and all of the one-time funding reduction that the governor had proposed and as well as the Dakota is maintained a 8.22% the combination reducing the one-time funds that is probably the allocate the district and then maintaining 8.22% bukola we don't know exactly what that would mean for us yet until the numbers a little bit more clear and and like I said the federal funding resources come in and it's still not defined at this point and so at this point that this is the the closest internal numbers that we have for the Budget Inn and the status of a district the reserve is down below the reserve is 5% at the bottom of the chart like that somehow my screen is not opening hotspot So it's b starts at C 36 37 38 39 and then the safe. Got it so the 2% additional reserves that the board had requested over the years as they're with us and the 3% manager state-required reserved is also listed there with your 2023-24 so we have about five million roughly five and a half anime absorber counter that we expected 10.8 million dollar over spending deficit and then counting on recouping that $1000000 in Ada that we lost because of the J 13 and then some revisions of the state and the federal funds coming in some more information before coming in the future report to the board thank you I am I reading this correctly that can eat 38 the board the 2% board Reserve will be eliminated is that the dash that's what it means that we will no longer have that 2% I don't know for sure I did the 2% set aside is just in case that we are running short that their board has the option of not having to sit to 2% 3% online number 39 does that mandatory 3% and so at this point it looks like we are not planning to set aside the two additional percent in the year 24 25 oh well no one could question and then I come at 9:20 we got the 1% salary increase 800,000 8% that's for all employees correct that is well an employee that's what it would cost if that is what is negotiated decided excetera to do an 8% across the board for everybody that that is correct. At this point the only agree we have four eight percent is with the certificated are convenient correct that is correct ccfd had tentatively agreed on an eight percent may I just say that poor 24-25 if we were to triggered that 8% in calculation the following year 28% actually would increase in terms of the steps in column and total around so there is an additional cost I would have to be calculated as the years go by and it's over multiple years not to reflect that it's 8% each year but it's an 8% ongoing costs of the 8% next year continues to cost out in the future. Yes that is correct and and the 2024 25 there's no way we would know how many how I word adjustment in terms of future negotiation with unit members would be so that is the fact that we don't have any any way to predict I'm going to interrupt and take a point of privilege so usually the superintendent can select items that are pertinent to public comment and pertinent to topics that are coming up that have not and agendas the superintendent can definitely present something to us however our discussion needs to be limited because it hasn't been a gentile and so we can ask a question but we can't have a discussion back and forth so just wanted to point that out so I I I really appreciate that the the budget that is to be inconsiderate and negotiation is is being review with the board's I think that's really important I want to encourage the board to not discuss but I question you know just a clarification question is fine but we can't discuss this thank you Brazen Amazon I think it is exactly that last night we received several comments from the look at this is our way of saying let's let's see what we have in terms of compare and contrast what we've heard do we have a study session on the budget scheduled off the top of my head no but we should have play an Al cap yeah that's what I was right in within the outcast study we do have a date set aside and let me find out and then inform the board but within the outcasts study session would be the budget for Domino's well I just want to remind us we did our original e on the governance calendar not your spreadsheet but we did have a study session specifically for Budget which I think is not happening but I do want to point that out thank you I want a picture of the giraffe governance calendar that we have for that came to the reservoir superintendent report came to I mean we did share some of that at the board meeting last night good evening just a couple highlights that are not indicated the cultural graduations that are scheduled we did a $10 for the kinty Asian-American Pacific Islander and the lavender graduation there are coming up in the office of Dai is pleased to be providing financial support to each of these cultural graduations to the tune of $1,000 per per cell abrasion and we're pleased to be able to do that I'm in support of the black student achievement plan that will be just and to view tonight in support of element one which is high-quality Early Learning and Healthy Start we are proposing a summer program Summer Lake Camp that'll be held at my bio open Khan it will be held with the same structure and process as the other two summer programs bridge for ELA and math as well as for English Learners we've Sonata interested way to two parents got quite a few responses were focused on students second grade through fifth grade that are not reading at grade level or approaching meeting at grade level so working the elementary principles dr. Garner dr. Baxter be at Services team Devin and Erica with crafting which specific students will be inviting we're hoping to have at least two classes of 20 or so and maybe three but we will we will find that out once we get our summer bridge in place will have by Friday so really using summer lick camp at Scholastic product that I've used in the past and back my former Elementary School is still using that when we raise reading scores we closed a narrow gaps and and them where we're ordering that specifically and it's something we can use in perpetuity so just has a few we call them disposables but it's the Core Curriculum the books are rich culturally-diverse that we can use in years to come and so those are really excited about this this opportunity thank you so much we are now going to proceed to members of the board 7.7 and we will continue with the same order as last night which is Aunt Laredo at the door I'm so let's get started with board president I just have a question because I know that we do have some limited amount of time with some of our staff members and if it may be prudent at this time bring up those items first because I know that they'll still need to leave at a certain time so I mean I will defer to you to say like what there's a priority here in terms of you would like to eat her for I believe dr. Smith will have to leave around 6 and there's a items under Section that perhaps could be brought forward for and I'm here bring up the night Mr Alarcon will be logging in at 6 on June and dr. Alarcon while we make sure if mine has a visual component if you don't if you don't not at all okay so I am then going to move us to HR Services Personnel action item so let's go to 16.1 is recommended for a stent of agreements mr. Alarcon yes thank you president I miss all luck so 16 16.1 is are the are the tentative agreements for a variety of agreement that we have with with Ace the first being layoffs and Reemployment due to the fact that the rules for class B and P classified layoffs have changed over the years and so we need to needed to have the first bonding language the next would-be article 12 transfers Ace and the school district agreed on new line are transferred making it a little bit more specific and involved in the employ of the next would-be article 32 wages overtime rate of pay requiring pre-approval and getting that language in the next in big article nineteen others were some absolute language in there that we removed the next is organizational security also some obsolete language and we really remove that language and this has to do with a membership of a moving on to a safe speed with safety article 30 and are we wanted to make this language more distant with the language and the ccft contract and this has to do with damaged or lost for employees and then reimbursed see that loss and so we made the line with more consistent with DCF and finally I'm the last is the calendar we have an agreement for the calendar and so those are all of 16.1 thank you mister like when do we need to do you need an action from us please can I take emotion I moved we approved the recommendation for a recommended for student teacher agreement between Culver City fight school district and United States University thank you for this agreement is specifically for a hard to fill position which is special education and so there there was a student who I who came to us we were I happy about this because this student interviewed and has completed all of the coursework I'm but still lacks the student teaching and the panel who interviewed the student was very very pleased and so we like to enter into an agreement with our United State University in disagreement basically accounts for the student I completed student teaching while the student is teaching the student is assigned a master teacher both at the school side and at the University and so we're really excited to be able to fill this position and also I'm having a new student teacher with us who I will I we believe I'm really make it be making a difference in our special education program additionally in the agreement we did add the other Dei language if you look at the agreement on the first page of the bottom paragraph there's VI language that bought the d e i University and the district has agreed to so I'm requesting approval for this agreement can I get a motion please go to approve second second grade discussion no thank you so if you could just confirm for me if this student teacher I get confused whether it's sometimes they're interns and some times they are our own employees and I could not find that language if you could confirm if you could clarify that for me please thank you for asking I use the word student teacher I knew I should have used the word intern because this agreement is for an internship so an intern is a lieu of student teaching but why when does student finishes The Internship that completes a fulfills the requirement for student teaching but this is for an internship for special education thank you for clarifying that for me I'm not really familiar with this University but these kinds of opportunities are the kinds of things that that we've been asking for in terms of trying to increase interest in our in are harder to fill positions and so I think you for this as a intern student teacher this person is always supervised right there never Augustine's because they're not fully credentialed a an internist different then then a student teacher and that an intern is actually an employee of the district and considered a teacher but they have a master teacher a teacher at the school site and from the University so that person works with them almost daily however since this person is is unemployed and fully cleared there are times when this in turn will be with us too. but with the entire class okay thank you for clarifying that thank you asador I wanted to say thank you so much for for bringing this before us I look forward to seeing you more of these opportunities to ensure that we continue to staff are to grow our own staff to support our children with disabilities I believe that is an area that we need to continue to grow and have continued to hire to support our students with disabilities I also am grateful for the attachment of the insurance that are provided there is so important to make sure that the universities that were collaborating and inventor that were collaborating has appropriate unit insurance so thank you for attaching those I really did appreciate that thank you cellar moving us to 16.3 all of those in favor say aye three approval recommended for the settlement agreement between Culver City Unified and Association of classified employees regarding Lincoln holiday on this language is language that was collaboratively worked on with with Ace what we found last year when we were working on the calendar was that the Lincoln holiday needed to be specifically identified in the calendar which it was not for the four years listed on the settlement agreement is providing for for vacation days for classified employees and those days will be a collaboration between the the class b a oh yeah the supervisor but this I will agreement will be effective July 1st pending on board approval I'm at the settlement second text discussion no I mean no thank you I want to say thank you to our labor partners and our cabinet for working on this agreement to settlement I really think it's important for us to to have some context on how this came about so when the calendar became part of negotiations and I know it was a difficult things for all our family staff and School site to have the calendar be delayed in getting approval through negotiation through that crosses it was identified that the holidays were not compensated for our classified and I'm grateful that we have done the right thing and provided this settlement for our classified and engine say thank you thank you for for for doing this for our for our staff Okay so those in favor say aye aye okay now let's go back to 10.10 the black student achievement plan presentation yes thank-you present Amezola and bored and you have a hard copy in that it's been shared with you about the Black Sea michiba plan and I it's and you see it being very good all right if we recall the black student achievement plan was presented the idea but in the resolution presented to the board group in in February and then the black family Council also was approved got to work along with some of the equity advisory Council task force members to craft this first draft of the black-suited treatment plant has got 10 tenants and I'm pleased to share those with you first we want to just make sure that any plan we have is consistent in alignment with the equity vision statement I'm which we highlight here to cultivate a liberated learning environment that is free of bias the origin of equity plan if we will call the one that was approved for 2020 through 2023 around four stakeholder groups organization as a whole are students parents and staff so we revisit resolution number 23 that the board pass and to create a can plan by May we're getting in under the wire so what is the black stone of Chima planning list to know that we looked at models from LAUSD we looked at my house he's supporting the African-American Lerner from the lake there were several other models that we looked at along with the e l road map to create a parallel structure for this particular plan but making it very specific to what the family insane are the needs in the African American community so it's a 10 point plan supplementing the social justice Equity plan so it has the structures this comprehensive plan treat to create effective instructions for public accountability Community Trust date of transparency and equipped to better serve all students families and Educators to enhance resources coordination of site and program and collaboration with b councils and departments is important to note that our black family Council steering committee represent representatives of all the primary County schools in the district including the air Army to see back the AC we wanted to make sure we had multiple perspectives in the room so what are we focusing on this we believe that and I think this is important to read for note these opportunities gaps are not a reflective of the true capacity and potential of our black students which are performing at some of the lowest levels in a district of student group the Board of Education strongly believe that black students in the school district are and can be high Achievers and know that with greater care deliberation and intention we can create the conditions by where black students are Fillmore you make me sound physically stay emotionally stay psychologically stays and connected to their school and District Community the black family Council approved also by the board we had remember Mister as a Jaguar Justin stupid myself and steering committee members. To Latoya Baldwin Clark Joanna Keys Denise Clements dr. Jolene in maschera and summer McBride so the ten Tenors we got feedback so there should be a a slider that highlights attention is and we will we will do that this is the first draft one of our first tenants is early learning how do we get the Learners as they enter into our system high quality and Healthy Start so we are we have some data that is more National Data that we will Hazard data are local California and you will see this coming in will be able to populate those statistics what are we doing to address are the high quality Early Learning and Healthy Start we're partnering with OCD to see what is available what is possible with budget within structure greater opportunities we want to do some family education on nutrition early literacy positive attendance and School Readiness we are we have to have is have access to Coach Lee proficient developmentally appropriate books and resources and then it's summer and Extended Learning programs and opportunities there for we are working on Summer Lake Camp so each Martin tenant is supported and aligned with our El Cap or Equity plan that our strategic plan which is pending publication and the inclusion plan we will tweak and a line cook the Strategic plan and inclusion plan or all in alignment and so these are Matt back to these priorities let me look at academic relevance rigor and 4th is also National Data 67% of California black children do not read or write at grade level for us in a district we have almost 30% that are not I'm 80% of black students grade level in science 31% of black students who completed a through G as opposed to 49% White students and 70% Asian students and 77% of black students graduate high school in comparison 88% of white students and 93% of Asian students we want to lift and we know that by lifting our African-American student us all the second tenant is around relevance rigor and support So aligning State Standards expanding access to rigorous courses including a through g a p and dual-enrollment so increasing those opportunities that was particularly excited about the conversation last night with West LA and what we can possibly do with that we want to take a look at how we identify within the structure and with our adoption how we each week how we edit how we supplement to meet the learning needs a black students how are we going to be more culturally proficient we on this slide reference the data sources that we will be pulling in order to complete this. everything is built on data and data based and data-driven so that's important this particular tenant has also with everyone we've linked to the Elsie the El Cap equity again so we talked about engagement concerns and black family engagement bus the creation of the black family Council how do we been engage more black families in there just a children's education but in the understanding and operations of the district how to access and how to advocate for how do we establish formal Partnerships not just invited to the table and not just seated at the table but if we sit at the table that's listen to you and considered so we want to ensure that families are invited to participate we are looking at just station on Council on on site Council District council's we build those formal Partnerships and we know that African-American Community has has faith-based cultural and Affinity organizations we want to maximize our opportunities to collaborate with with any data sources are there and once again the alignment with El Cap Equity plan Etc now Equitable access to effective Educators in hiring so we've already done to work with HR in terms of how we have language on job description interview questions and to get and identify the best for our students we're not saying that we are the only black teachers can teach black students we know that is absolutely not true but how do we build the efficacy of all of our teachers how do we scream foods that have a length or mine that coming in the door to be able to increase their efficacy to to Really teach all of our students last night it is if you know if we didn't know it was quite clear we have some brilliant students diverse students all over so bad the advocator group we need to build their capacity in terms of hiring training definitely to be off to offer teachers unconscious bias we look at anti-racist teaching we want to look at codes for fishing teaching we want to look at the escalation I was talking to the high school at man today I'm just identifying those needs very Clinic we and create professional development to meet those needs the training teachers I'm citing District administrators Indian tall and parents to build their efficacy in their understanding as well learning time it is clear in the data that with all students often Extended Learning Time can close that Gap sometimes our students just need more how do we offer those opportunities summer opportunities are after school opportunities are another and not that where we have to have balance but in many other if you look at the Nate data other countries that are just exceeding in there achievement of students if you look at their structures their students spend more time in school I mean they have family times as well extracurricular but there is more time on past especially if you I need the extra how do we how do we build a tin so Extended Learning Time what we look at a broad range of Health wellness and social emotional support so how do we help teachers build healthy relationships with black students relational trust is it significant with all young people but how do we do that how do we make sure that our students have access to what they need to be socially emotionally physically and psychically safe in our system we are working so excited as our opportunity to work with them catching the belt training counselors they gave feedback they are counselors training counselors it's relevant to them and looking forward to the outcomes as they go through that we look at our empty SS structures I have some training with instructional support beat we have Cobra is Rich and instructional support for the fact that so many of our student groups are not expelling means that we have to go back and dissect and make sure we have training for staff that are working with all of our students especially almost home do strengthen the coordination between agencies Etc so what are the we have to have supports that ensure access to College and Career your Readiness really looking at those indicators for the College and Career Readiness indicator and making sure each of those categories where there is a through G weathers AP whether it's to Rich robust CT Pathways dual enrollment whatever they are that our students have access and they know about it and access and support you maintain enrollment within we have open access but there's a need to make sure that our students have support to be able to maintain so that is that is something we're looking at improving School climate and we have feedback from you truth we have feedback from the California healthy kids survey we have feedback from student interviews we have feedback and input from our students who come and speak with us at the board meeting on we need to do to improve School climate so that is part of a goal for all of our students in all of our schools improving School climate we're looking at convention where look mental health we're looking at training culturally relevant instruction and creating those educational opportunities around black lived experience how do we how do we do that how do we restore all of our students Vape in in US The Last Tenant is amplify student voice and we've been able to get started as bad as well to for all students be able to create opportunities for black use to uplift their voice then the two I was speaking with the doctor Valverde today the president of ASP in the vice president is be happy B2 on a Latina and an African-American student so it's always you know that that's already happening avoiding questions so that in a shorts presentation first read about those 10 tenants and where we're going the data that were using to support plan and inform and the I'm at with our other District to TJ plans that must be we have to be operating from the same core and core values that that's all for right now entertain questions thank you so much let's get started with Ken thank you so much I'm very excited to see this and I can appreciate that a lot of work is already gone into it and it sounds like we'll continue to go into it and I can you tell it forward to the pieces being filled in locally especially our data I'm so I think I just have a couple simple very simple questions that may shared by others that the local data is so important and it is actually quite different from the state and County what is holding us up you know cuz in my experience and the AC we always struggled getting data to what do you know what the holdup is there and then it can't just be dashboard hold-ups without in this climate data has been slow to roll in from the state for sure but our our data team upstairs is there looking at edge of climbers are folding data and literally we got reading scores pretty current after the second Administration so it is pouring in it's it it's being formatted organized to be available so we're moving forward with accessing those pieces some are more available than others but okay so you do expect maybe this do you know when it'll come back this plan with some more filled in p will use each each iteration so talking with the data team on yesterday and looking at the work we're going to do in the summer so probably in July will have enough things folded in to be able to have a pretty data soft a lively looking at I think it's really important I mean I don't need to this is the choir but you know we got some comments yesterday and I do be all that some people may not know what our data is we do a lot of cheerleading around being the most diverse forth most of hers whatever most diverse District in all of the counties that are the nation and yet a lot of folks are wondering why were targeting bond funds to certain populations targeting resources targeting interventions and tutoring and summer school and so forth and so the missing data continues to you know just be a thorn in my side as I I just want are people in on here it is and this is what Equity actually means this is the definition of it and so I just I'm super eager to have that it will again you all you all are the choir it just will give it the legs but I think we're still waiting on to get this thing to run in the broader Community because we have a lot of support amongst our leadership and we're still working on some of the support in the community I think communication about the data starting from the the data as a source of conversation and why we making the decisions I think will will will help we do have to deal with with the table sometimes being the City where can I buy bias regardless of the data to show but having that data really clear crystal cut tight laughing errors I think will strengthen the position I agree I hear that then just trying to understand a little bit about the document itself I see what are being called lcff priority is in there which is like a state set of priorities and we wanted to align to our l right so that is some some work that will come out guess we're working or working with and I'm sitting on the El Cap pack when we were putting the the presentation together to pull out pieces wanted to inform the board we're aligning with these particular priority that will then be transferred into the new version of the car out, they live in it currently as well it's just that one step of separation from what we think of as our El Cap with three and the lcff priorities which are ten in number I want to make it as like a digestible as possible so I look forward to the language is being as synonymous as possible without as much need for translation and then I my only other question and I heard you speaking about July is that I know that part of the job task of the committee and the black families Council was to reach out to larger family populations is that slated for the summer what will. look like I'm eager to hear about it because we still we have not had the opportunity to take it on the road if you will I don't have focus groups and have conversation so what we want to fill it in more with with data and I spoke with the data team yesterday so it is coming there uploading as it's coming in so we want to take the opportunity and we can do that in the Summer Waves with starting a couple things in the summer to be able to engage around and fun to get some focused attention on it and get additional feedback to to produce a community black student achievement plan that's very exciting and then I'll just say I have so much I'm in gratitude around the summer programming you know the awarding that you're recognizing student voice around the fact that the work is not waiting on a board approved plan at and it's already underway is something that we should be proud of and I have I got it to to you for that so thank you thank you and I have a lot of gratitude to the equity advisory Council to task force the black family Council we have support we have voices it is key I am super excited about this I do have some timeline questions I guess more so about like when I first envisioned this is the resolution and then the back black family Council I really saw us being able to see the results of the equity plan first because I A N then when I saw that this is a supplement to the equity plan like can you speak a little bit about like what you envisioned coming you know first next it's so on and so forth in terms of timeline because we're seeing this now but I know that you have some stuff in the works for the equity went so bacb we started you get in January and we looked at each of the the the stakeholder groups in the in the first 22-23 plan and we got feedback in terms of what happened what's needed to be what could we abandon is the we we've gathered quite a bit of that data that needs to be organized we've got to a structure for the egg I plan to initially in my work and thinking for the year the black student achievement plan was not in the in the window so adding that now things can work in a line but in terms of time what comes out first is our we will be presenting a draft Equity plan to the board on June 27th the first draft of me still do you have to go quite a bit of of of input like it said we had our Council and put on and take it to the El Cap which is dissolving the pack is dissolving a bit so we have to look at how we maximize at time with our families with our focus groups with our student we have pieces we have quite a bit of healthy kids we have quite a bit of you truth we have some feedback from surveys from parents we have a result a note Abby Equity action committee and we have task force notes we were just pulling it together so the 27th of June is the 1st very tentative draft of the new Equity plan moving forward are you looking at are you will you be looking for since this is a supplement to our Equity plan would you be looking for first four the two could construct the final of that so that this is the supplement to to it or I'm just trying to you know I I don't think it timeline is it with the urgency of of some things would we know we're encountering the community the luxury of it so these are happening in parallel to a very large degree I look forward to the end of school we have been nice where then we can just go I'm going to presenting at night not spoken to the superintendent yet but I have some additional help with some toasters in the summer to help with the writing and help with organizing the data because we're moving quickly and we moving in parallel okay so I just want to manage our expectations of you know what kind of things should we be expecting back and you know if you were looking for our feedback on something and always and looking and looking towards what what the expectation of a in terms of what we're going to be seeing in the future because I show that these the equity plan you know we and we wanted to be more strategic in the future at least that's what I'm getting from my colleagues here and and I feel like the reason why and I said this before in public that the reason why I'm excited about this is because it will it it feels to me more data-driven and that's why I feel like this is such a huge jumping off wait for us in terms of our vision because when I see this I see a pathway for all of our marginalized students to be seen and to be to receive the kind of attention that they need and so and that's why I'm I'm excited about this and that's why I like you do manage my expectations and like what kind of things do or do we need to see and what kinds of things you know should go first or a parallel so I thank you for free answering. And you know I guess also for and this is more for superintendent and that you know there there's another item that's on our on our agenda and there are future items that we see in general that we're like oh we need a you know a part 2 of like we might have had one special session maybe we need a part 2 or does it come back for Action like what happens then and I guess the question is do you know in the past we've seen plans that are robust and we've also seen things that are like letters and so I mean I guess like to you it's like I really want us to I really want myself and my colleagues to be know what we are expecting in terms of like what what is here for action in the future this isn't about item but like I want to make sure that have they had the idea of like what we come to expect for when there is a plan at our for us to be asked to take a shower I could go for some but I didn't get some reminder for my audience at that is kind of hard for where the audience to hear us so we can speak right onto the mic but there are two opportunities coming up one is actually this is the third year of Weird Al Kaplan so as we wrapping up this year we have been opportunities to take the new three-year cycle of the El Cap as they bigger parking lot the initial conversation of the black students achievement will find its way onto the elk a plan so that there is a composition that is a connection there's all of that moving forward and then there's always some flexibility from the state if you to call El Cap is measuring the lcff subgroup does the defroster in end end and homeless children and English Learners and Title 1 children but not necessary African-American students there's some flexibility with allowing us to actually build that into the El Cap goals and objectives then monitoring this is the same way we've been requested by the state to monitor English runners in and outside of 1 children so there is a there's an outfit to build that into the biggest platform there is and then built an entire budget around the El Cap with an X 3 years to come so I can hold us accountable is this day out Kaplan it's exactly what we need to move forward with the inclusion time to be part of the El Cap as well as the back to achievement plan and Mason what we looking at some of the services that we discussed in bits and pieces instead of newerth should find its way into nelk app as a way to we can monitor all of the services across the board as well so that being said and that we've also said in public before that we want the El Cap to evolve into our strategic action plan I I want to be more intentional than saying it will find play I want to be very direct and say that we need to be intentional with it and not just find it find its way and so when we are making sure that our engagement with our stakeholders going into the fall for are packed for for El Cap and for our other committees and councils like we need to be very intentional about how we are recruiting how we are bringing this information and communicating to a to our public because one of our complaints in the past has been like you know we don't have enough engagement we don't have no data there are we don't have enough folks that are you know coming on a more consistent basis and so you know I want to be clear that like this is something that I will be working on along with one of our other colleagues on this because it's so important that we are making sure that we are bringing these voices to the bringing good voices the table in terms of like making sure that when they are participating and are being appointed or being or applying and being selected to these committees that their voices are are that their work is not it is is being heard and that we being intentional about making sure that this is actually getting into these plans and not being performative and I think that you know in the past El Cap has been one of those things where it's like we've been check boxes and I don't want it to be. in the future I want us to be more data-driven and that's why this is that's why this plan is is so I feel like very important and and a way forward for us to do I just want to be clear about that and that we need to actually put energy and effort into recruitment of that and not just like let and and not just let it be stagnant and you'll just put it in a newsletter we need to like to go out into the public and I actively encourage and engage and not just like you know advertise it plainly and sit back so I know I want to be clear about that now thank you yeah thank you for this a minute I just want to Echo a lot of the comments that the previous board members have have made I'm very excited I appreciate very much the talks about making sure that this coordinates of the El Cap planet is integrated into the plan because that is our new Global document did it also works with the equity plan and and you know too often plans get spun off and end their great plan have nothing to do with any other planet exists and then we just have all these parallel things were or at worst you know not parallel that but having all these coordinate with each other's is fantastic one of my favorite parts of this whole Endeavor is is the the black family Council on Isaac 22 long we've made plans about black families in about black students and haven't included the voice of black families in those discussions I think that's really important and I'm glad to see that happening I do Wonder in this is one of the questions that I sent to you you know we heard last night she back doesn't this again we have an advisory Council on the budget they don't necessarily feel like they are meaningfully engage by the district right now we have a black family Council that's great how do we make sure that that group of a parents or maybe somebody could students and other community members how do we make sure that five years from now that body still has a meaningful voice and a connection to the school district school board have you thought about your regular presentations to the board have you thought about regular reports to the board have you thought about any just how do we keep that voice elevated where it should be so I was able to play some notes in the in your in your questions about how we do that and it is pertinent in timely right now because we have a steering committee and we've been grappling with how to build and and meaningful membership and feel that was a conversation that we were going to have this past Monday but we thought we needed to do other than El Cap pack was was colliding we wanted the steering committee to take another look at the presentation about the plan and we had some people by then we were looking at and I heard the similar comments last night and I I think about the African American parent town for the district that I was in and it started very organic when it started actually at the district and then it populated out to the site and it started with unintentional invitation to others to come without a lot of . and once we got people in the space where was they who it went to leave so they spent time in the space together kind of Stormy ignore me and it's true it's formed I'm very hesitant to put other than what we based on our board policy and our citizens councils other than that parameter I'd like for it to grow organically I want to invite and have come and then with parents selecting roll and respond abilities and so working with the few members on the the council that's what we want to do we also want to take it on the road because we we haven't heard from all sectors of the community even the black UNIS we haven't heard from all sectors that we have to be able to construct that the back that's what we're we're working on it it's yeah I know we're saying we're working we're working but we actively we actively our I think we want I have a place we put all of the notes for all of the council's in one place perhaps your people can look and inspect and it's not that true transparency is not like we are not have to find it or digging a drive I mean I'm linked to on a district calendar black family council meeting this was the agenda be for the minute either the action item this is what's coming up to get to that point is worked at where that endeavoring to do so right now we have a steering committee we have a board member we have an assistant soup put this together expanding growing and throwing that in gathering the data at the same time I hope that answers your question is because it does him and I thank you for that night I do want to thank all of the founders of this committee and the folks that are really going to making it happen today teleport members or or the family's been doing this and there was a a question last night from a Community member about why a black achievement plan why not I'll let you know a treatment plan or an Asian-American achievement plan and I I definitely appreciate the colors concerned for the Asian American in pain let me know I think in this case are African-American families were ready to go with us you know this is been a kind of a movement and in some other places you know there's there's an epis from the board on this there's you know families who are ready to go and I think you know as as time goes by in this body takes form and begins to to influence decisions and influence the outcomes for a student then it becomes a model for other groups of students at making racial groups be at any of the other categories that we have or any other group of parents who wants to form some type of a body to have input you know we really look to the example that that are African-American families are are creating with this right we want to do it I've seen right models Moreno Valley has an outstanding model we been looking at Pasadena unified has a great model that is staying the test of time and so we're looking at and trying to model after that this time of year it's in everyone's. tired right about now but we're the Moreno Valley Mission they have the parent liaison and that you know he's very going to one of the talk the things that you mentioned was getting out two different segments of the African-American community and eventually getting out two different segments of different communities hard to read chocolate not historically been invited me and then you know having those those people who are representatives of the district but speak to their own Community is a great part of that we can't speak for All We Touch. my perspective thank you I also just want to Echo everybody's calls for data and I appreciate this the reference that we met National Data and are we betting State data and there will get Cobra City-Data you know before this gets shopped around and out to the public and things we do have data you know when we're getting some new data we've had dashboard data for a while now I mean it and I do think we are sometimes slow to use the data that's available to us and so I appreciate that that's you know I'll priority with with this these groups there's one of the questions you had mentioned in the one about equal access to effective Educators we had talked about retaining teachers and things like that and training teachers and I just wanted to put a a plug-in for also recruiting Because again our our population I looked it up on the internet I forget where it is our student body is about 12% African-American 11 and a half percent teaching bodies about 5% which is fine you know everybody can teach everybody but it would be nice if our staff reflected our our population a little bit more closely and you know some of that is a better hiring process and things like that but some of that is getting out to the place where budding African-American educators are going out to colleges that that are in a training folks to do education and enter work with diverse communities and things like that until recruiting is is also thing that I would like to see the US education contract I don't know anything about the teachers that go there but you're getting out to places where we know that more diverse professionals are you would go usually another system to hispanic-serving institutions and historically black college and universities when we were we have to be intentional and go wearing in recruit and hire and train and build those relationships that at where they were working on thank you thank you so much I'm know it's no surprise how how I feel about this plan and I think that the work that we as a district are doing to address the educational disparities for the black students and I think my colleague Mr gross pacifically for that piece about the need to recruit but also retain a diverse teaching staff that reflects our student body and what I love about this plan specifically in the way they were doing is that it not only does that but also highlights the importance to make sure that we're building a district a community that allows our neighbor stopped to thrive and want to be here and want to be engaged in this work so I just thank you so much have a few questions how much can we expect of this plan to be ready by the next school year and then the second part of that is what can we do to make sure that we're supporting you over the summer to make sure that we can get that moving if I meet started in dr. Smith could feel in the context right now at the high school we looking at increasing the number of students graduating having at a through G requirement is part of it one of the that we've been looking at is actually African American graduates it's a great deal of discrepancy when we looking at those who graduate from high school and then ended up attending not you see not even CS you and mostly college do you call to program it so there's an effort to addressing immediately is that how do we align the courses that support the the aligning the extra Services a tutoring program so that we can put our African-American students in high school level so that 4 years from now we see it in an upward increase we've been looking at for five years worth of data and it doesn't look very encouraging so that's a first part that we need to because the second is to move the conversation and all the way navigation from the black family Council Bluffs policy Equity advisory Council into language that we can put some objectives on to the out cap and in the lining of budget to support that the next few years so begin to address the needs record by all accounts olds put them into language and we can put into the El Cap and Associate that with the money and the end and accountability that we can present to the board there's everything to me to glasses one day Steve that the State College in Africa can students receiving blow cheating in English language art and nap and then on top of that suspension explosion seem to be a serious issue that we need to look at as well so those are the things up front and center and then deeper than that would be I'm going to go to go to the doctor to make the feeling but we do have some critical issue we need to address thank you thank you but you're trying to leave as I look at the the elements and the areas we're saying the date of the we're going to pool I think we'd have to get a hold of that data aggregate disaggregate to inform we can't do everything all at once so we decided to tie Early Learning we had we had reading score so let's put something in place to address that we have our students not feeling like they have a boys let's identify those opportunities and an amp that Extended Learning Time what working with ed services what kind of tutoring and do the extended day program cuz we don't to my knowledge have a lot after school program and so taking a at what and then those that are there I'm concerned that we hear from our special education families that you know their students are being served are there that we need to look at that so that's an area of focus that we that we talk about engaging Families how do we bring people together how do we hear from other questions of the community I'm really looking forward to working with you leadership at the school because they you know the data came in to families listen to teachers and information from their school first so it can't be this monolithic District has to be in in so how do we engage bottom engaged to that so a couple things and we're looking at and something happened earlier in the fall with student signing up for AP we have access but then I was looking at data the number of students that were are checking out Avicii and so even in the equity plan there was the equity plan there was a an action about how do we put supports in play to make sure our kids can thrive in honors and AP courses so that is something definitely we can we can look at to letting the data drive it and selecting getting additional input and then selecting two or three things that we can roll out and roll out well and pick up momentum thank you and just lastly not really a question but I do feel strongly that this plan but also as week can you take get morphine I can we continue to get more implants and presentation I feel strongly that this is on the district website I don't know whether that be on the d-ii homepage or wherever would be most appropriate type here I just feel very strong. these plans these presentations data also the outcome data once we have it all should appear in my opinion on on the district website can I get last question I just wanted to come back cuz I meant to ask another question at what at what point is the plan to join up with ed services and get our stuff and Educators involved in the implement pieces of a class or we are doing it so we're already doing it we're working with we're working with Dr Garner dr. Baxter on the summer programming coordinating with the bridge and the ELA and math and they've been hiring the teachers will select from teachers we're looking at we've already put in the two to try in the El Cap a reporting system I'm so weird we're collaborating regularly with with that service isn't in my colleagues would a school and Family Support Services really on that but Fel looking at that attendance data looking at these suspensions data so we're we're collaborating currently call so one of the sets of people we got when we were talking about a plan that was being called a through G for all is that we were not doing work on the ground with the people who would be implementing that change and so I just want to be sure that were really proactive in this case so I of course I understand that in order to have summer school you need to have abs Services arranged those Logistics but I'm asking a little bit more of a question of a plan is you know actual day-to-day on the ground work so I just want to make sure that we have are educator buying all along and warmed expertise but we're moving forward with their expertise also centered so I just want to sure it's not just the district-level administrators in the conversation but also the teachers especially with the example that reminded me even more of it about kids were opting out of a PF having attended for a week or so or two or three that's a particular question around just the adult in the room and and or the curriculum and or the support cetera so if we could I'd love to hear more about it next time around that particular piece thank you okay thank you I'm very grateful for this plan and I agree with my colleagues my spear about this plan is that it's a great plan and it goes in the corner and doesn't get implemented and so for me it's real really important that this plan is very intentional to the El Cap in one of the things that I haven't heard here and it's not because it's our strategic but it is the single let me make sure I get the the right acronym that distinguish learning I guess the pizza right so that is that is site-specific right in so I I I sent the Berkley Public Schools African American success Prime work that they have and I really appreciate how they have integrated very intense the El Cap in the sipsa in an addition they have integrated the root causes right that they have investigated the root causes and so they have like a literacy plan embedded and they one thing that they're missing is a math I I believe that that's one of our lowest scores according to the dashboard for African-American boys if I remember correctly so so those are some plans that they're all incorporated into this framework and I think that it's for me it's very important that that individuals in our community understand that this is all part of a certificate plant it's not like here's here's a black students and they're going to learn over here I want to make sure that we have a Synergy are how are plants are working in Synergy so our community understands that we must support each and every student and if we're going to support each and every student Equity calls that some students may need some differentiation and that these plans offer that differentiation for each and every student so I do have some questions and end that is we learned yesterday about tier 4 and Berkeley plant the other beautiful thing that they do is that they include empty SS in the tears as part of their framework documents you have the the framework the link so you can look at it and so I'd like to know how we're going to include empty SS with our framework in the future and if that's the plan or or maybe that's a consideration right in and they do each tear so it's really great the way that they frame man in the sea 40 or 1 and I'll just go to to tier one because I think that it's a really great way that they do it so they talk about Tier 1 tier one is a practice of providing high-quality and stroke Behavior Support an intervention to all students and then right next to it they talk about the African-American students in tier one is they will serve approximately 1000 of African-American student Target termination of information about additional District sponsor support resources and programs transition support Middle High School support Bridge Avid stem right so right next to it you see this is what all students get in this is how we're going to Target this you know for example in Tier 1 1000 African American student and I don't know how they got these numbers and but I'm sure it has to do with access and how you are densifying the cohort of students in and I wanted to ask if that's already been formulated how students are going to be identified so I'd love that I love that pretty much got to revisit that President Missoula because that would help in terms of just a public facing data right there that this is why and this is what's happening so cute so to blow up everyone for each and every student but we know some students need something different and more and for this group of students this is what they're getting different or more and to put that there so I like that frame that is something definitely we can we can do now in terms of our line with our ntsf in and when you said that I realize I don't think we mentioned in TSS not one in this particular document so we have to we have to clean that up cuz we are looking at so with some of the school's mtss coordinators are the ones that are identifying the students that are going into Bridge are going into the English donor program and then once that is it by Friday will be able to trust in the other names of the students that are going into the summer lick Camp so that alignment with and so it came late in the in the in the process that we're getting up and running with it we do have the data the students now working with principles and they were really clear about and I we meet with him on Thursday director Montes doctor I and I are meeting with them on Thursday to get more clear about their NTFS in the referral structure in those names so I like that framework we can definitely make it look similar cuz I think that's that's cool and it will be more intentional to talk about our tears because I can sometimes you do first in best instruction still need something else until we have to call it out thank you I really appreciate that that's the work that you sent me and to tell you again today the other thing that I think it's really cool that that they present here is in a and I know my colleagues have already talked about like a we need data locally right from ccusd and it's really cool how they present their data their local data they put a Baseline and then they put a goal and I think that I want to encourage us to think about that right to have those goals to see how we are progressing forward how we evaluate our access after that like yeah sorry I appreciate it that about them and I I want to I want to make an ask my ask is that this plan become a like our golden standard to thinking about like a map of treatment plant in a literacy plan and a language learner reclassification plan like these are all groups that of students that we can really help through some targeted support right and again the Berkeley framework also calls out you know that there's fruit causes and and that there are ways that we can we can help more students if we have like a massive cheap mint plant likes helping students Advance their masks that are not at current standard level literacy helping students advance in their literacy and so they have so in addition to incorporating this framework they have the El Cap and then they have the continuity and attendance plan and then they have a comprehensive coordinated early intervention services which I think you have that already we do so the early intervention is there and but I think the the continuity and attendance plan is something to also consider we have we have the the skeleton of them as well I know I saw that there an inclusion in our plan added to this will you tell us a little bit more of that well we will I attend those two need to guards Landing group he was able to do some call to proficiency training with them there are aspects of the art plan that's coming that's very much nothing much targeting but very inclusive of how do we use art to then help students explore other areas of achievements and we want to make sure that we're not that's not sitting over there how can I African American student how can I let you know how do we attach to that what is it look like so we want to make sure now that the inclusion plan the same thing cuz our students are in classes there included would have that support look like the way I want those plans are flushed out how do we Dental do we want to do our El Cap is our strategic Everything plan everything has to be in alignment the principal's worked on the steps is last week to make sure they were in alignment with the El Cap it all links it all links back so that was okay so we have students in the art of flourishing their entree into other areas of achievement are we build upon that okay last question promise how is New Earth connected to this framework is it at all connected are they're going to support our students are this framework do I I don't have any any of our contractors are outside vendors connected to the plan but they're you know this is being built on the capacity of building building B give what we have internally and then identifying those areas that we need to bill so at this time do with our inclusion plan we have a vendor that is providing support to our inclusion of our students with disabilities or for example training teachers and co-teaching but that is the contract called to teach to teach and I was just curious if there is any opportunity to 2 if there is Need for training especially if there is an art and me the component that we have this Bender that that does this work but I don't know I'm just I was just at curious not at this time but where are we we want to take example of take advantage of any and all of our resources but not at this time but something to consider I said that was awesome thank you about the 11:00 360 in various it's 75% 20% and 5% of the state populations of candidates standard 3 tier mtss pyramid approximately 1100 approximately 3 got it got it ok google okay let's move on to our next agenda item a president the next agenda item that I have to do a d i is 14.1 followed by 14.2 and we have about about 15 minutes with dr. Smith and so but we also have directors they no longer but I'm hoping that these will be quick because we seen these before may I recommend if we were to take 14.2 first these so let's consider a 14.2 this is resolution number 37 I believe we heard and public comment about this yesterday or there for public McDonald's yes but we don't have a presentation on this correct so if we have any so we should just go into this move to approve second discussion Kent I don't have questions and comments I did want to acknowledge the students who came and spoke in support of this last night so I continue to be really moved by their advocacy and want to just acknowledge that this exist on our agenda for the second time already because of their work and is coming forward in changes in our garage requirements in the future because of their work and I hope that will continue to stay in touch with them as they graduate and do amazing things elsewhere and let them know the impact that they've had on the future graduates occust and I'm supportive Laura. Thank you so I think our students I don't have any any suggestions or a  or amendments I support and Amy Sakamoto is a junior so she should be here next year and I hope that you will see this through so I'm looking forward to this is just the resolution this is part one I'm looking forward to seeing how this manifests itself in terms of operationalizing in the future I thank you could I do I have some questions and I raise these last time and I guess I didn't raise him strongly enough so I've got a raise them now is an amazing plan and I think the students who brought this are amazingly courageous and articulate and and and express their experiences in a fantastic way and I agree with every single thing it says you know where as in all of the reasons why this I think there are a couple of things we've got to look at carefully in the therefore be it resolved in the action portion of this the first one mental health literacy as a core education opponent for every K-12 student every year to promote the principal and practice of developing and maintaining a healthy mental health State I think it's fantastic the next one read that the Culver City Unified School District manager one compulsory comprehend tk12 mental health literacy standards to this end the board directs the superintendent or designee to lead a committee and create a mental health literacy curriculum action plan by June 2023 next month that's in 9 days I think we need to be clear and I would suggest we change the wording to that you create the committee that will form this plan that we say we will have this plan in 9 days or in 39 days if we're being generous likewise it says that this plan has to be operated operational in 23:24 which is next year and I absolutely understand the urgency and I really want to let students know that I understand the urgency I just don't want us to say we're going to do something that we're then not going to do I would rather see slow down just a tiny bit and do it right so that when we do do this and we will do this it's done thoughtfully and carefully not just so we can all say yey we did mental health and then move on so I would suggest that we clarify that we are forming the committee by June and that we push the operation date out of here to 2425 that's my first the second one is a little bit harder because of the last resolved is it cover City Unified School District superintendent or designee to designate mental health literacy as a graduation requirement we're having a very large conversation about making a through g a graduation requirements because there are consequences on an unintended consequences about that I am a little hesitant to say mental health literacy is a graduation requirement what we haven't really Define what mental health literacy is we don't really have a set of Standards we don't have a class that were saying we don't have a program that were saying I would personally more comfortable if they said that the committee not to say the superintendent but the committee was going to explore making mental health literacy a graduation requirement United put a date on it you know I will the board will report to somebody by a certain date if you're afraid of this dragging on forever I'm just hesitant to in a two-week. Create a new graduation requirement when we have been very careful about I ate through G discussion and again this is not to say it shouldn't happen I just would rather see us before. Smith that they are leaning towards having some and placed a pilot of some sort or or something by 23 so I will consider by removing by June 2023 we have some language that I came flushed out yesterday that my I might share for consideration is that okay so perhaps the languages to this in the board directs the superintendent or does it need to establish a committee in the ball a 23-20 create a mental health literacy curriculum action plan by January 2024 with implementation beginning in the spring of 2324 we will start identifying members of the community as soon as resolution is approved we want to be realistic and we want to make sure we do this right so that was when we were talking and in the office and thinking about everything else that that where were dressing that something to consider and I shut up is that okay we have an agreement okay so can you just repeat that so that I can capture it is because to lead a committee yes yes yes but my brother Reno the board direct the superintendent or designee to establish a committee in the fall of 2023 24 to create a mental health literacy curriculum action plan 2323 to create a mental health and we'll do the action plan will be created by January 2024 if we have to engage with labor partners and okay in Fall 2023 to create a mental health litter speaker Rick ulam action plan or do you want to keep to be operationalised by or did you want to change that want to have a plan to the board to consider for first read by January 2024 we want to put something in place in the spring we want to have something in place for them so if you want something to be in place by the spring that it would come to the board in the fall right okay okay that means that's the goal we want to thinking about when are when are mental health people are back but our students will back so that that could that could happen that could happen late fall we would just we want to make sure especially with okay so that we have we have something in place for a student said and in the region for a graduation requirement we did not want it to be an option as an elective we want our students to have access to the instruction about their Mental Health if you if I could at the context to that it's between a complex scenario and it just just in my thinking I was talking to some of the foundlings founding student members at the at the mental health initiative we went to design a course instead of should that be a freshman and then repeat again in the junior year or should it be once to put the entire four years of their equipment know if we decide make this course twice in in intensity that we taking two spots in a very crowded class list of required for graduation that has to be taken into consideration as well so we climb and make I got a different context that's what I was going to say I'm and because when you use the words the phrase and graduation requirement to a certain extent it feels like the onus is on the student to take the right classes and that's not what we're setting up I think so it's almost more like a graduation component it's something that we are committing to provide to every student before they graduate and so I'm not sure the graduation requirement is the right a graduation commitments or something we commit to doing for every student before they graduate or commit to integrating into courses along and I like the presentation last night for West LA College where the president was talking about environmental Consciousness is going to party a definitely Nadeau and to a certain extent I think that is kind of what we're talking about with mental health that it's not just a okay junior year I'm going to take my mental health class and then never take it again or never think about it it's something that in some ways permeates a lot of what we do some type of the preliminary conversation with Pat is actually could be a combination of both and instructor course and then maintaining those key importance such at the health education option that we looking at tonight the state is pushing out expectation to cover mental health awareness mental health monitoring mental health all kinds of things are getting there and we might be looking at the additional Court recommendation down the lines books so the combination of baby classes maybe classes and in bed in the other disciplines but we have to be mindful that there's only so many spots in the entire four-year program for graduation maybe it could turn out to be a more complex issue than just what we had. But what we want our what is a non-negotiable if I can say that from any such animal as Motel I would love to clone that young lady is that it has its it's not optional it's not optional so I want I are we doing in those situations as well the other one is she she raised the concern about in the formal complaint process it says the prohibition against knowingly making false statements or knowingly submitting false information during the complaint process is that standard language in any complaint process or is that specific to this type of allegation got to be very politically correct there were title changes tonight Title 9 under a previous administration at the federal level that took a little of the accountability out of the language so that is current language but I guess my point is is let's say this word a complaint about a different type of harm done would that language be typical of of that type what is is the language about saying don't make false statements found in other types of Investigations as well or or is it you need to sexual harassment in this case in this Federal peace it is it is slightly unique but I sent it it was it is just a matter of time before the Quran registration at the federal level would change that back to the way it used to be that is to take on all of us practitioners in the deal and you write that specific discouraging language was attention to this we are happy to bring this to you this curriculum was locally reviewed because there was a lot there was not a publisher list / at the California Department of Education which there normally is all Publishers were then invited by our district librarian participant curriculum to our adoption process in our process has the following rigorous requirements first it has reviewed using a eei rubric and consultation with the DEA Department that looks at inclusion in terms of special education and accessibility it looks at programming for English Learners and content it looks at inclusion as I pensions and other accessibility pieces that ensure there's an inclusive curriculum curriculum was removed and did not know there was a an adoption that did not pass the initial review upon the rubrics scoring we moved because of the lack of inclusive gender and sexual orientation content counselors with expertise in mental health and gender expression were used to inform this work the ngss science tosa nurses were also included in the review as well as help teachers there was a two-week pilot. At the elementary and a collective decision was made using the chair which is the California healthy youth act standards the pieces in it that are that informed us work as a key reference point on the committee focused on Mental Health focused on these these issues mental health aspects of the curriculum which has been a topic from tonight Cason bullying and Body Image instruction so it is recommended to the board of education to approve this so that we can move forward with this adoption thank you thank you so much I can I get a motion I will move to adopt it as any discussion where start with him dr. Erica young will you pop pop off of mute sure I'm not a doctor yet in like two more years or three more years and so on when creating the rubric we will consult Adar District nurses as well as stars cool and Family Support Services to figure out what might be the hot-button areas and so in our rubric we again exactly what the doctor said bullying mental health drugs and Body Image type stuff we looked at where it was found in the state standards and anywhere it showed up I put it in for review so that the teachers that represented different grade levels different content levels different grade levels different sites depending on which race ban looked at that just to make sure again that we have a chair one cuz this is one of the problems screw we have is if we don't have a chair one of what everybody's getting and so we just use the states a nurse to identify where to look for it and vaping did come up I want to say was either fourth or fifth grade was one of the standards okay that's helpful so first Lee it's important for me to know that this is the first time or at least in recent time that we've had a tier-1 and that's important cake K12 so that's important and that yeah you so Miss Young you do feel that this curriculum covers that particular question of substance use in a developmentally appropriate way in a way that made State Standards but also ccsd's needs that students you know things have been kind of outdated for a while to quick questions one these are physical books right we're not doing like a digital book or anything like that okay I'm okay with that thanks a lot of computers these days and then the other one I couldn't let me check to see if there's a digital also as well I don't know that there is it's both and it's for ease of teacher planning so there's a digital textbook for teachers to access and then also hard copies yes and then I emailed about item not sure if it's in pain if it's a typo it's his from middle school it's the third edition and then for high school It also says the Third Edition but when I looked up the textbooks the 2023 version for high school is actually the 4th edition I don't know that's to find a detailed worry about I just don't want to adopt the wrong book thank you we will follow up with our District Library in and make sure we have the right curriculum and I don't know if I'm if maybe Eric Dan wants to address that but I don't have the book in front of me so I can't tell you what I reviewed but I'm we can check with our district librarian if it is and it was just that we fix it before we do conduct focus groups force with students and I've seen students say they they tried vaping as young as third grade so it has become very pervasive and tobacco companies are targeting youth with flavor for adoption Culver City High School grades 9 through 12 thank you as we as we move forward to having curriculum and horses aligned to AP environmental science as was put forth by West Los Angeles College in climate change center this is really a direct in which we are excited to grow into move into offering this earth science course which is u c h o g approved and in order to do that we need a relevant and interesting curriculum students will be interested in as well because an alignment with that West LA and the 80 environmental science halfway through the curriculum and the textbook have information on the human impact on the earth and there is a lab which is a component piece of this course do input again in terms of the process this is a rigorous and bedded process in which a rubric is used we look at the CD E4 recommended Rick you live with and you locally with our ngss tell Sarah or science teachers are ELD teacher reviews at special Educators review we look for accessibility feedback components English language development we want to thank all of those people of which I'm not naming out specifically but lots of people looked at this gave feedback on the rubric so we've Just simply say the we are beginning to address to Quality the qualifications of the people we would be looking at lead the program into that we can begin the recruiting process or the combination that I was I would agree with mr. long wholeheartedly that the financial side of it is important this is not something that we will take slightly but we do need to put phone for the board or documentation purposes we are looking at leaders leadership level up the up the program as well as the counseling component of the program okay so we're approving a proposal as outlined in the letter stated in my motion we are not approving the job descriptions they will come back at a later date for Action items under personnel and to get clear again just one more time on graduation requirements they also are not stipulated in this proposal there is a man an option for alternative education students to graduate with a g e d or chest be to achieve a diploma if other efforts are not obtained that that will be a consideration as part of this initiative which will be really taken on by the incoming High School principal that is correct as well. The graduation option is the the privilege the GED and the and the Cowboys High School fishing Sam is actually required by law to have to be available. yes like there is a there there is an area here where we should be giving the opportunity for high bridge study but in general I know that if our students are in person there they're going to have better experience and so I want to be able to you know figure out what those what those guide rails are to keep us from saying like this is just my Academy in terms of your you got it on your own versus versus you know having the specifics continuation school like and what is differentiating the two so I'm going to let you go back to my question about the the letter and the way forward and then I'm going to come back to calling out specific policies so if I maybe there are more opportunity to engage all of the members of the committee has been work building up the presentation for for the board and I I feel that there could be even more conversation to build up the detail in terms of the student body enrollment criteria graduation a recommendation to the board different type of trying to say is that the letter is the flexibility for ongoing conversation not just from the new principal from all about veteran teachers who've been part of the program prior to the closure to school I felt that we could use even more time to discuss at same time working on bringing to board What policies industry regulation to describe different Pathways for for a diploma in the program at the same time having more, say about what does the Elizabeth the Liberty moves about if I program it could be just maybe the traditional cover part classroom or they could be class and plus some of the online option we could be other things and and I don't know which one of that until I can convene all of the members into a larger space where they can share at what is the vision of this and right now we still feeling like we could we could use more input from my own committee members do it sounds like to me that because we're in a sense restarting this program that this is kind of like our letter of intent from the board it took for you to like move forward in a in a more I think that's best. in lieu of like a superintendent that is okay understood so just just so that we are all on credit towards graduation 614 6.2 certification of proficiency or high school equivalency 6158 independent study this one is mandated to be updated since last year 6178 Career Technical education this one is also mandated since last year 6183 home and Hospital instruction that one we haven't updated 1998 6184 continuing continuation education which is mandated to be updated as well thank you I got it I have a couple questions but I think they fall in the category of we need to wait until there's a high school principal to talk to I have questions about how c t e is going to be provided for the student electives of physical case and I got to be worked into that cycle I have question maybe this we can get answers minimum participation is 15 hours a week is there a maximum if there were a student who were really motivated and trying to make up some credit to make up some time can they be there for a full day yes I can okay thank you there's a mention of possible asynchronous and synchronous instruction and I'm curious you know that maybe just a listed as a possibility but would we potentially be expecting the four full-time teachers Ela social studies science and math to also be doing a synchronous instruction or would that be somebody else eye doctor eyes with you. Normally it is the role of the teacher to provide a sequence instruction and what we would do is we would create whatever LMS this we choose to embed all of the unit out of extraction and the LMS so that once the teacher is teaching in person there in person instruction would match or pattern the a sticker that says traction that's in the system I thought a teacher who sells but it would probably a sign and prescribed the different lessons to be done asynchronous you mentioned an LMS what elements do we use at the high school for that type of delivery of units in Korea only after you were using a fax and continue with the same ones were using and the students are used to we would continue with the same one so there could be crossover Staffing a question about the full-time principle I think the conversations that we've been having about we need to wait for the high school principal to have these kind of points do it may not need to be a full principal because there's a full principal at the high school who seems to be involved in the planning and pissed but I would love to see head of a side-by-side comparison of the pros cons of a full-time principal what that would allow us to do and and what some of the downsides of that would be or an assistant principal assigned through one of the other campuses what are some of the benefits and and cons of that the same thing with an admin designee if we had a credentialed teacher who was an admin designee would there be things we couldn't do in that situation and where might that benefit us and then they're just some other questions that I kind of like board member Laredo I think we're getting pretty close on these and we need to get some answers pretty soon I know we don't have a site selected but I'd love to see what the possibilities are you know what it what are The Chew and again what about the pros and cons of each costs I haven't seen any kind of budget for this and I'm not suggesting in any way that cost is going to be prohibited this is a very important thing that we we were all committed to but we do need to know how much it's going to cost some type of cost analysis and in budget for the alternative school and then finally a timeline backwards planning for the fall if we're going to be opening this in the fall by when do we have to fly to positions for staff and have staff applying be selected by when do we need to open the buildings by when do we need to purchase materials and Furniture it's met but August is going to be here quick and so I think you know having that budget having that time line when we need to have things done is is part of an actual plan on this and I'd like to see that soon noted thank you for president actually really just trying to figure out what it is mental health counselor to really help assistance our students so we can really meet their needs I could definitely such an emotionally and so I think with that is when we as a group kind of really decided on what we agreed on and then what we could table maybe I just asked that should be taken on behalf by the incoming principal in the staff themselves and so really we're just at making sure that the overall needs power up our partnership are are dressed here and that is really just focusing on the robocar Terriers to the body the learning process are engaged learning and services at I year but I do want to so but I do want to say that like even if in the future when we have those those classes that count towards rpe credits do they also need a will will be built in that they will be still taking that whatever the new iteration of fitnessgram in the future will be as well in those classes so for instance if dance will be in the future or marching band like is approved to account for PE credit will they also need to take will fitnessgram built into their classwork that's a great question board member Laredo and so what we can do is we can change we can sweet that I understand better your question now and so yes physical fitness testing is required in 9th grade they began in March and at as was reported to you about taking that test and at this time for dissipation is what schools are being noted on that's that's what we are looking we are looking for so we definitely can change that piece in the BP and they are but any student who is receiving PE credit has to take that PS4 that there are some exceptions but you've seen what the BP in the ER if there's you know of an injury and and such so but that is a requirement thank you for that question the high school and I see how hard it is for our students to park their bike inside the high school and so I really think it's important for us to buy more bike racks for the high school that's a way to encourage more biking and also it will eat will protect their bikes because right now they just put them all in a pile in the car and it's really hard to get in and out of there I've experienced it personally and I don't know if this if the AR needs to stay like we will add more bike racks or if this is something we need to add to the ELCA I'd I don't know where it needs to go let me look into Ken to take a few seconds away from the floor for me to see what up it was sent to me a few days ago okay I can do that the document has reflects some changes so I appreciate that and I I want to ask for a couple more modifications hopefully they'll be relatively minor canines appear in the documents thank you in numbers seven and eight what's up with people not believing in page numbers soccer goal so seven and eight I think we're both on page two and I want I just would love the word the words in advanced are there it says parental consent which is important parental permission but it's not clear to me that they couldn't get print a permission after this so I mean maybe somebody can convince me that's not necessary but those that would be ideal 7 and 8 if they could have the words in advance in terms of the well actually it exists an eight and seven maybe they could just put the prior in front of parental permission that would that would make it really make me very the number 7 on page to have the word prior in front of permission parental permission and then same thing for the search which I also appreciate appreciate has been added and number 19 will not conduct a search of a student or their properties unless the student voluntary consent to the search and the if you could say prayer parental permission and then there's a final one regarding the data I said which I also really appreciate it just could stand to have a couple additions and changes so this is number 11 page 3 + I suggest that it read ccpd will annually collect and share rather than sros I don't think that it's we're not in the position of directing the sr02 will do it's the ccpd that's responsible for the data and that if it could I feel to be honest the dad is the most important part and it's up to me and so I would prefer that it have some of these words about disaggregation let it be stated specifically collect and share disaggregated data and if it needs to indicate the what do we mean by disaggregation I would also support that right like it could stay in parentheses demographics incident nature arrest status and you know if there are any other identifiers that would help according to the data set we've given in the past that would be that would be great so if those at its could be made at thank you I'm just making sure you want us to continue right and well you find this superintendent please forgive me so I want to be intentional also about our language that were using and that moving forward at the end I think that this is all so I mean I'm not well doctor Baxter is here but like that for you and your staff to hear that like moving forward I'm going to be more intentional about making sure that our our language especially in our policies is more students Centric and that we removing language that is identifying gender at as his or her and because there's just no reason why we should have his or her safety we should have there or or some similar also we refer to parents a lot here when maybe they should be guardian and instead on because that encompasses all of that I think you just we should we should be do better with with language and I think that this has been something that we've spoken about in yay yay see in the past I'm not quite sure I can't remember if there was an actual product of from the AC in terms of language like recommended language to avoid in the past but I don't think I don't remember and so we're going to have to ask dr. Smith about that specifically but I really want us to so there are a couple instances where we only refer to parent and not parent guardian and so let's remove or replace those and there is definitely at least one instance of his or her and in the future if we could remove it doesn't appear here but you know be more cognizant of when we use words like freshman underclassmen and stuff like that in the future but other than that dr. Ken I really appreciate the the comments from Doctor can't thank you it just appreciate that you can comments and throw on this on this thank you yep be the third one to appreciate. Durkins, my one comment is specifically about Section 5 number one minute talk to the uniform as directed by the chief of police I think that we had stated when it came up a street that we really want to be intentional with relax Club in there like to see relax clothing included in the language and actually if she sends is on she could you provide us Clarion what that looks like good evening president Amezola members of the board can you hear me excellent so can you repeat your question please I didn't quite hear it I just use we had talked to the last board meeting the board expressed a desire to have the SRO when on campus appear in relaxed clothing do you want to see that reflected in the mou but the question to you was what that relax clothing looks like yeah so first let me just state that and hearing some of the recommended change you're tonight it all sounds reasonable to me no issues with it and in terms of the uniform and you know quote on quote relaxed uniform while on campus are officers are currently authorized and do typically wear while working Patrol what we call a modified uniform it's not your standard you know wool uniform that you which would be like a traditional police unit it's I guess more of a cotton type uniform it does still say police on it as is required by law and have a cloth bag but it just again it looks a little less traditional than the whole uniform would that's kind of the best I could describe it she's since when I had done the ride along and after we had talked about a polo khaki model said that there was a polo uniform in I guess the uniform closet or whatever they have the option to choose is that also an option cuz that's something that I would prefer a b the uniform that I saw when I was in my red wine I would prefer not that one but but a polo and khakis yeah so polos and khakis is not an authorized uniform and you know let's be cognizant of the fact that this officer although assigned to the schools as their normal course of Duties they are required to an often do or respond to other cultures throughout the day as needed no all over the city so if we have some sort of critical incident there pulled away from the school to help with that critical incident there just you know who we just are we need the day off. help out oftentimes with other calls and so we you know what uniform did becomes important when you know we have multiple officers responding to calls throughout the city so you know I would not be in favor of and I would not authorize the type of uniform that that you are describing just cuz the colors are very different from what all of our other officers are wearing but we do have a polo that is authorized and so that's something that we can definitely look at so maybe I'm confused by the answer because I had asked for a polo and then the beginning part of the response you were saying you wouldn't support that button there I love that you would support no I'm sorry I guess I was referring to the khaki pants okay so the khaki pants is not something that we would be that I would allow okay and will do add language to accurately reflect that uniform that we can then put into the mou yes you do that when we review the the mo you after this meeting okay thank you are we ready you know I am embarrassed there's so many emails coming in in the last few days I lost track of that so let me just put it this way missing. B Smith to see if I can receive it a recent the student survey came out buy large the largest group seemed to be that they don't know what the SRO program is about yes and I'm executive but they let me just so we took the next step which is so the percentage of students who felt uncomfortable about the presence of a server on campus is roughly between eight to nine percent of world population live in high school between 8 and I princess and when we pull it back down to African American vs. Latin X vs. Asian vs. Caucasian there's some differences but not to the same degree as we I we would cost alarm and I'm I'm not going to speculate the percentage because it's it's just not appropriate for me to do so the percentage of students who feel safe and and not being bother or neutral about having an Sol on campus is about 50% or more so overall I could say that the students when surveyed 1,200 of them responded across all sections I night 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 grade evenly kind of submitted would not feel intimidated by having an S4 on campus and the percent those of that really not okay with that 10 to accommodate to submit with statements explaining why they felt that way but their percentage is about 89% I could follow up with the rest was that can dig up information I can send it out to the board for further conversation down into them so that two weeks from now we might have a chance that we resent that time I apologize I couldn't I couldn't find ya if I'm sharing it to the board report there was also a communication from high school admin that csro went on campus is always accompanied by Edmund the sros aren't otsr I was not patrolling campus is not what I meant so there were some questions regarding why did we not serve a staff why did we know survey parents this was done to the Liberty tubes play students because the last the last direction to me from the last Board of Education back in I believe November was that when when my office was to bring back the somonui we need to aad presented where are our students and at the time it was just our students where the students feel about the the presence of law enforcement on campus that's exactly the wording the presence of law enforcement campus and soda that's why the survey was focusing on measuring students sense of comfort in addition there seem to be some confusion between the Coal City School District security officers being seen as at the SRO what that's not fair so so a law enforcement and and District security officers that a whole lot of our students it just couldn't tell one side of the other and we're trying to dress up by maybe dressing are or requesting our security office at your dress away from looking too much like going towards men so there's some success in that but we do not all the way there yet so I'll stop here and you can see the the result from us student survey and I will share even more after tonight because it's not an action item I could provide any kind of question of answer to the best of my ability okay so the one thing that I did ask you in our last in our one-on-one last Friday because I think at that point that it had closed and we had and we had access to the raw data but my point was with somebody going to go in there and aggregate This and like let's see if you know certain populations feel a certain way and if we can do better by that I'm not saying that that may change you know our our our policy but it may change how but it might but I would feel better if we did this aggregate that data and look at it look at it before you know we we finalized. Cuz maybe we need to take a look I mean maybe we we aren't looking at something that we should be because if this is still out there. Oh it's so raw and it's not just aggravated so yes and then I'm in the middle of trying to do that with the team of my colleagues as well each of our data point Each of Us 2 just wanted to hit a dozen or so points will desert me about 24,000 datapoints I need to adjust the right now I'm pulling just a high school and then the middle school and also putting them based on their their their ethnicity background also male and female and and non-binary I mean a non-conforming gender non-conforming and in some cases so identify the transgender as well so there's this thing group that I holding and then matching that with the does the question the level of comfort when you have natural than on campus or with the known current SRO or with any CSR all those are the three most definitive question we wanted to check without soon but then there's other questions that we ask how soon do you have a copy of the survey I don't have the the final analysis yet but I do know that some population do feel much more deeper than the visceral level when it comes to law enforcement on campus in terms of being negative about it but overall I was doing is still buying large almost 50% feel safer when there is knowing that's how tall is part of the school even though I bought a whole lot of them also saying that I'm not sure what theater program is about Echo the the question about the data being reported and attached to the agenda so that the community can see it and I want I would love to see by raised by gender by age how they feel about the sros right so do do the question by each of these really unique kind of a A-ha moment for me a middle school students are extremely sensitive about the state of Maine campus woke up the first waves of information coming in from our middle school students by and large huge number of them coming in a high school student took time and slowly they they coming in but not to the same degree that something unique I don't I need to find out who may be a bit of a face-to-face conversation with a super find out forward or backward really thank you chief for staying on done to help us tonight thank you so much dr. Baxter okay so attached in I'm not going to flip through make everybody sees it cuz it's 50 it's so I will share my screen to share the cover of the presentation everyone has access to it so let's he can get everyone to see what it looks like in terms of the attachment okay thank you so sad consulted with Hanover to develop the survey that was a minister and minister to staff and families in April we had 640 respondents Who provided input the AC hack du Lac deck and this board meeting have the data results in the form of the 58 slide presentation the AC at the meeting last week in which I met with them has requested the I have broken out by race ethnicity and other specifics so we can have a deep look at who is participating in our surveys and what more we might need to do in terms of of Engagement and in working with our community so on May 31st in order to begin an architectural conversation about collecting input for the El Cap over the next 3 or cycle cuz we are currently in the third year as you all know of our El Cap and we are when when this Horton work landed with ed services in March we quickly geared up to be able to delete this and so what were what we're doing now is thinking about deeply and thoughtful about how to be thoughtful architects next iteration so we collect as many voices as possible recommendations I'm going to highlight just some recommendations and some strengths which are very clear in the in the attached data the clear recommendations and then across all sites and were we need to improve and deliver quality communication from from the district to school sites to families to the community the second was to address concerns on the physical learning environment for students the third being to provide special education Foster Youth and English Learners with access to extracurricular opportunities and our strength being around seeing engagement and our our students are wonderful we saw that last night at all of all of our award recipients we're very very pleased with our students and all of the contributions they make to Culver City Unified the majority of find it's note that we have high expectations and Elementary has higher satisfaction ratings than middle and high schools one specific way the El Cap pack input and the TAC and punch was used as bait it's on the data around safety and reported bowling reports which is in the Hanover survey there are some chicks data and some used to say to that triangulate this and so one of the additional suggestions that was made by a pack and an e a c fu fu people was to increase and have a an anonymous Reporting System Beyond wet tips that has that real-time data for administrators to act upon when there's a microbe spell aggression when there is an instance of harassment bullying that we can actually take action on so we have added that into our actions and it's in our draft we're signing that draft as we go cuz we need to know put dollars next things that's one piece of evidence cuz the question that we are getting is a how are these how are things becoming actionable in in the El Cap and so that's that's one as since there's a there's enough are there was that there's a fabulous after school program at La bayona that is supporting English Learners that is an action that we put in as well that one goes in a goal to the reporting system goes in and increased action in goal 3 we want to thank everybody for taking the time to complete the survey give us valuable feedback and help us create a process in which we can have meaningful architectures of input into the next iteration in the three-year cycle so thank you and that is that is my report on the El Cap pack survey Miss trendy have anything to add let's get started I think that I may have suffered from reading while you were talking so forgive me if I asked you to repeat something you just stated but I wonder if you have a sense of ready of what changes are the short-term resolutions and what are longer-term resolutions that you could if you have them ready to operationalize the growth areas how do you say hot minister in terms of when you're in a third-year cycle of the El Cap you increase decrease or maintain actions and so in terms of increasing access to specific things of note of which there are others as well but two to note are one is in goal 3 adding in a reporting system that gives more information for students to in families to be go to report incidents into Beyond wet tip so to support safety to support reports of bullying so when we say we have a problem and we say that it's big and Global if we know more specifically about the then we can follow up and do more so we've worked but we're working closely with the AC is they bring forward a mechanism in which to do that so where that is one that we're reporting out we are we are going to be able to add in as an action and then around gold do the increased action for after-school programming for the student groups that were identified in the in the by Hanover as well English Learners students with special special ed students with special needs I'm sorry I'm losing words and Foster youth so we want to make sure that we are able to increase programming and using elop and and other funding sources as well and capturing that in an hour okay so yes I did hear you save those I guess where I was picturing this as being impactful this this result data set is that it was impactful on our process for our text three-year cycle where is those things that I was hearing you respond to were more about the El Cap goals and and so maybe I don't fully understand I I'm so friend since improved quality of communication from leadership particularly for staff do we have short and long-term ideas about that yet or is that too premature to ask I'm giving free short short and long-term goals around each of those the action that what we did at the El Cap pack last earlier this week Monday night is we fish found out and came up with Solutions on how to spell some of these ideas so some of the problems that were surf so that we can work toward that that's going to be a solution that comes from all of us and we were principals meeting tomorrow so now that you know we haven't dated where we're going to be able to dig into it a little bit more and hopefully quickly put something in cuz our our draft is our second draft I've already submitted so late there once and I'm going to continue to submit meet with them so we're getting all of that together okay great so we will hear more about our implement Mission along the lines of both the recommendations on the growth areas is that correct yes thank you this question is I guess a little bit for cheaper and more for superintendent initially and maybe I sound a little repetitive tonight but initially back in the beginning of the we had laid out like what we would like our special sessions to be on and so now you know doctor Baxter is coming to us as an info session as an info item right on on the engagement on El Cap but I just wanted to hear from you do we are we also expecting a special study session on El Cap before we are going to be expected to have action upon it there is a soft date that I had in mind and I need to verify that the staff is available to address that as well. It will be the second I'ma tell you the first that's a week from 8 or 6 the first Tuesday of the month the person the third Tuesday is the two off days that we have and and so that was a stop date that we we got the Hanover yester so that was a tentative date to to share the El Cap progress in terms of deeper conversation and bored give us questions and and then so we can provide answers I can pull that off but I I needed to give more time for a staff to be able to share because I won't have the the the the death of knowledge you to to honor the questions of the board may have so just give me a day or two or not you know what today is it is a 24 somebody stole the whole month from me they're still next week right so you technically you have two weeks until the talk to a 6 but I mean like I I I don't I did I wasn't looking at the zoom screen at the time but maybe dr. Baxter might have both your eyes when she said when you said I mean by Amy I'm just trying to let you know manage our expectations in terms of like I know that we have two big things coming up in June in terms of approving approval wanted the budget or excuse me 3 get sepsis and El Cap is that correct don't forget the other thing but these three big legal things that we must continue with hopefully so I mean I'm I'm trying to set up expectation here with you know is you know we're seeing this we're seeing that we were able to get engagement I think last year I mean as far as what it looked like last year last year it was a very last minute in person like very small participation in terms of our our school sites engaging separately on questions and I feel like you know last year we might have gotten I want to say it was like a hundreds of like touchpoints but not six hundred and individual responses do in terms of Reach This is much better and you know and and less cumbersome I want to say in terms of Engagement I think that there are people that would opt into in terms of accessibility and Equity rather than taking the time to go to their school site and you know participating in a focus focus group like interview I think that we've probably got some folks that we don't normally get to engage on El Cap survey so I so I do enjoy that and I do like the bees in which that we can read the the results of that I do appreciate that but I again I'm looking ahead and seeing like okay we checked off a box and then how do we move forward from here and you know what does how does this how does the how did he die we serve our El Cap pack and then in turn are you know that the board in terms of our you know our feelings moving forward and knowing that yes this year is last here but I'm moving forward I'm I'm looking at a strategic action plan you know evolving next year and what's cream of that from from this moving forward so I would really like to hear back from you and also I would like that any announcement I would like you to commit to a date and announce it not just to us but to the public of like what the what the day of the study session is so that you know I think one of the one of the comments but not one of them we've received multiple comments about special sessions in terms of like if we are calendar and get ahead of time then like we should be able to disseminate that information to the public and I think that that's completely fair but we will also want to set you up for Success right so if it again to is the Growers Point earlier we need to set a realistic date that you're going to bring robust information to us so that we can upon the next we would have that special session and then get her on answers and then the next board meeting be able to like physically say yes I have bought into this and I don't have any other questions about this and it moved quickly you know having to make a year I promise that the whole lot of my staff have to keep acting week pull up on the 6th of June which is giving us about almost two weeks to put together to the best of our ability to look at swing by that time our staff was to be scrambling for the last-minute stuff but I think we're comfortable to share what we could have accomplished to that point we have a a two-year progress that is needing to the third year we've had data Collections and meeting with stopped and we had 600 plus and Survey that we could certainly digging deeper and then that time we also have some additional funding dollar amount that would be reflecting in a budget in a much more much more precise way Mitchell actor Tony so June 6th will you come back on that day for a 3-hour perhaps one topic or or two topics we stay I still owe the board that part two of the inclusive one topic to pick up first mr. need to get back okay alright so so thank you for the survey and we did have a very good day PC session yesterday and working with status on so thank you for that I will I will acknowledge that when I first saw this survey I was a little I was a little thrown by the questions on it because it doesn't it doesn't parallel our El Cap goals and action it's more of a climate survey and it's a it's a good climate survey but it's a climate survey and it's principally about people's perceptions which are important but I guess when I saw El Cap survey I was thinking it would be more about what we have this goal how do you feel we got on this goal here you know how do you feel that where you're not providing the services to meet this goal are your students that kind of thing so useful that we've got several other climate surveys going I was one thing that I did notice is I was kind of surprised not so I shouldn't be surprised but because it's a climate survey the results very much parallel some of the morale surveys that that our staff has taken which just underlines that those issues that were an issue in January still an issue now and now we know the parents have those same issues you know so there is some some pretty strong indicators of some work we need to do and all that stuff if that's highly ranked I think one of the findings on to the findings that really stood out to me one was that staff and parents who were responded really seem to agree that there's not enough opportunities for kids with IEPs for learner's for homeless and Foster youth to participate in after-school activities and extracurricular type activity so we really need to look how to make those spaces more inclusive and accommodate there was also comment of a little one of the lowest in the whole thing is with her folks felt that bullying is a problem you know and that's hard something like that really needs more follow-up because of course bolling's a problem any Bolinas problem does that mean it's super prevalent does that mean you want to experience it individually or one heard that somebody Alstead and therefore you're afraid so that something like that really needs more delving into but that's obviously not not something you want to read I think next year I think it would I would like to see this this survey or whatever surveys we do done much earlier like in January so that it can be the basis for creating our Elkcam rather than kind of an afterthought tabaxi you mentioned that a draft of the El Cap is already gone to Lake oh so in a way we're trying to add some survey responses into the El Cap and I would rather see this be no I use this I worked all weekend I use thank you still if it were done early if we connected then you wouldn't have to work over the weekend to get it in there when is I mentioned at the PA meeting the students took a number of different surveys they did they use to survey they did to help the kid survey I would like to see if possible students taking the same surveys as staff and adult so that we can get all of them formation Panama the same questions that we talked about triangulating and there's times and that's fine but it would be interesting to see how students respond to the same questions and I think we've got a really good opportunity for that next year because we will be creating that pain new iteration of the plan rather than just an update but I thought this insightful but I was surprised it wasn't a little bit more closely tied to our El Cap but we did stuff with it anyway boundaries for it thank you thank you so much for president thank you miss your girl for me up that piece about the TriMet survey because I also did have to ask James about how this apply to the El Cap and I also appreciate doctor Baxter for you bringing up Casey's request for this to be desegregated by race at the speech under Insight especially given that this is a climate survey team that's really important for us to see who is responding to questions about things towards on some of our most needs groups in the district not really a question or statement thank you so just full disclosure I did miss the El Cap final meeting on Monday I was flying back from Mexico so couldn't make the oil cap but I review the survey very closely and I think for me I feel like it's important for us to to so I've been working on the outside for 2 years and all the El Cap actions and goals scene very abstract even after working on it two years and so I kind of appreciate it that it wasn't more connected to the El Cap because I don't know if any particular a person would know like the specifics on each action and so I saw that there was three main goals of the El Cap were put on the survey such as what is this filleti's look like you know what is a parent engagement what is student achievement look like in those are the three goals for the El Cap and that's what people really understand right and that's what people can really talk about because parents can't talk about X action taken with regards to facilities right students might be able to see if the bathrooms have soap or not but you know we did not include students in the survey so I agree that the servant we probably should include students in the future to see you know what would be their participation okay so I kind of did appreciate that kind of I really appreciated that it was the three main goals of the El Cap were the focus of the cervic now I take away and in this is something we have experienced when we're doing our PTA meeting is communication communication came up as a it was very problematic so one of the questions was why didn't you participate in Perrin activities this year 48% that scheduling we all know that we just experienced this right when we don't schedule we're not going to be available to do meetings are to come and participate and how do we schedule will we communicate what would help parents become more involved in Culver City Unified School District 48% said more communication between the school in the pants again communication how do you receive most of your information about your child's school 72% and used letter 32% social media and then they talked about communication information sharing problems for me and this is something that I really I think it's important that we figure out how to communicate better and I'm talking about the board talking about cabinet I'm talking about school said administrators and I'm talking about teachers right because the communication needs to improve and also I like to ask when the El Cap comes before us if we could please ensure that there is deliberate actions on communication one thing that was brought up in this meeting today was parent engagement is is one of our elk have goals and it's also an opportunity for us to grow weed not have parent liaison we do not have parent I forget the other title but parent Specialist or parent liaison which are stop that are that work directly with parents and so that is something we need to think about especially as we start working towards more specific plans such as the Blackstone of cheap mint plants if we literacy plan if we start an email plant whatever whatever goals we have in the future having parent liaison can be something that can really help us in the future the implementation of the right so I I wanted to say I want to see the El Cap have more activities around communication and all Aaron ambassadors is the other title I've seen and Moreno Valley has Moreno Valley has a parent ambassadors like a community liaison would president Amezola could could we with dulac tomorrow and kind of work something in and then bring it to the board study session and then get your feedback on it so I don't over prom cuz I wanted to deliver this well cuz I'm wondering if I might if I just asking for I'm asking for your thoughts on that I feel that you like is a great place just start I also think that the the school sites electric committees can be a place to also get input Rabbi Yona enrichment program you know that program is driving this year at the expense of parent coordination right and get your feedback yes board member just because you were drawing our attention to the survey at the end I think it's worth calling out how well our teachers are doing at making our parents feel valued they got a really high rating 82% of the respondents feel that their parent participation or input was valued by their students teacher so I think it's worth acknowledging that there was one on one settings are working relatively well we can take a look at the design navigation to see which parents are saying that and what you're not but I think it's shifted over and then Park and Recreation trigger and outside in contact to a group katims to provide the services the services were supposed to be totally for us what I've been a bit 8 position I believe and then parents halfway through the process realizing several other intersection could warrant additional coverage the city of Park and Recreation came to us and said weast City had some additional money they could cover some of the additional position but not all this is this is like half the year into it so in the name of expediency I sign up an agreement I think we have some sort of an agreement of an mou that we could support the additional position and so we put in some pot of money bring it to today I had some conversation with God some of my colleagues at the city regardless of where the intersections are where that is next to the school or away from the school the safety and the monitoring of the in the section should be the city responsibility that's number one number to the shed that intersection safety involve maybe police officers when people down citations and touch or two a sign Dave a crossing guard you should be responsibility of the city to determine which is the safest way if a crossing guard is the safest way to protect that intersection then the study behind that the data the counting the traffic pattern should also be part of the city countability so am I'm trying to reframe that conversation moving forward into next school year I like to do three things before we go to the board number one is that to have a bigger conversation or city that the intersection that is regarded where they within the city the safety of those in the section should be the city responsibility to what degree does addicted to Sydney can provide safety protection of those how do you determine that that should be part of the city as well they should. they're their study their the traffic pattern and determine maybe up for crossing the mou from 2021 August of 2021 was passed by a prior board and this one is with cppd I'm I'm I think that they came and they gave a presentation saying in if we train your folks then you should be able to direct some kind of traffic but in general bake d ccpd previous to 2022 we're the ones who were responsible for both the budget and the employment of all crossing guards in the city so fast forward to 2022 when the management of that of crossing guards became parks and recs domain and they became the the control of the controller of the con actor that the city chose which is all City Management Services and like so then when it came in March or February I-80 in the contract here us because we had there was a request for five additional guards from our stakeholders but at the time there had been no data collection whatsoever and but he had been on the ground to say whether or not these Crossings are marked for high visibility there they're safe to be Crossing and no one had spoken to our City in terms of traffic engineering power and the and the public works department to say yes I recommend these intersection because they are the correct intersections Based on data driven indicators as well as that they are safe Crossings like if they have Crow cutouts they are marked and they won't impede they won't cause more of a traffic jam because they're committed to each other eye is is good so we had none of that data I I had said I was not comfortable with it so I voted it down but it it's it's still Pastor the body so with the idea that it would come back and I said like we need to have I think the board comments at that time were we won't move forward with this this is not we will move forward with this for the next year we have to do data Odyssey Data before we move forward with us because in my estimation and I think that I speak for a board member Guerrero to is that we're setting a bad precedent in and saying OK Google without any data and without even going back to try everything with the city to say you know our constituents are asking for this we've looked at you know xynz and we moved we participated in a safe routes to school and to do traffic control in the intersection not a crosswalk but in the interest of any intersection on the adjacencies of any of our school sites for any events or just daily drop off or pick up as we see fit and in addition to that authorization it requires to Culver City Police Department to train our Personnel using the approved training which I believe is attached to the the agenda tonight and then they do a question portion and then they come and do Hands-On portion so that mou who is completely separate it has nothing to do with crossing guards moving forward today so just to confirm so this is a training this mou with a training 4 not in crosswalks as like the Department of Transport are the LA Department of Transportation would do so that's controlling vehicle traffic pedestrian traffic can you just give me an example of when you would be controlling the Strand traffic would not in a crosswalk I think if we can get back to me is that okay complete my thought so and mess around teddy I really appreciate you coming on cuz I was trying to make sense of what was going on with the previous body and we didn't have a presentation it was a ratification that was under consent Do I understand correctly okay and then if if I could come back to the original question could you help me put the PO in the context cuz the PO is a study and the study I I understand is what we need to study was done it was actually conducted yesterday so I'm waiting for the national data collection survey company to provide us the results of that study so they did studies to count pedestrian traffic at those five Crossing locations that we are currently funding I believe you were copied on that email from Gabe Garcia and so the the recommendations that he has in there for the points for them to focus on that was actually done yesterday yeah okay great yeah so I have been in communication with the city on this matter as well and was under the impression that this study was you know just recommended by Gabe Garcia at the city even though it's not Gabe's charged because he's over transportation and the crossing guards are under Parks and Rec and so there's been quite a bit of confusion about it and so therefore the city really was not they were just not in it and to conduct the study and so they were advising us and in this case mr. roncetti to conduct the study because he oversees this matter it has by superintendent it has become mr. on Teddy's charge and so it sounds like Mystery Ranch you went ahead with that survey with and that we are actually as is the case with I think all pios were proving something we've already given direction to miss roncetti to go ahead with a additional funding for the data study thank you Norman Miller. So superintendent when you first when we first asked you about this you had said to me that you wanted acms to do their own study and I had said like that sounds like a kind of conflict interests and why aren't we going to like why aren't we asking or having like are we having more of a conversation with the city in terms of n and to your to your point is like now we're hearing that there is a issue between Parks and Rec between the city departments because before this used to be like under traffic in engineering and PWD and now or at least like an issue I think what's going on is that traffic I mean crossing guards were removed from ccpd that's just a thing that happened relatively under like it wasn't as there was no controversy around it or or any particular political thing it just was moved into parks and and I think perhaps unintentionally one aspect about that wasn't considered is that crossing guards do occasionally need to be re-evaluated through data and forms process and the city traditionally done that through their traffic department but because of this switch of who was overseeing there was perhaps just a lack of oversight or planning or stretched t-jack organizational trying to say this without judgment cuz it really didn't come across it was not conveyed to me as in some sort of mismanagement it wasn't that so much as that this is just a recent shift in in who's overseeing and so people weren't talkin in the way they had been and so actually just the department wasn't given direction to do a study and you have to be given Direction by your CEO to do the study so it so traffic wasn't City traffic was not given direction to do the study and so they just weren't in a position to do that and Parks and Rec doesn't have the means of doing such a study cuz that's not their domain and yes that's why it ended up coming back to Mr ronchetti and actually Our Community member has been a very large part of liaising Miss paletsky I'm too to help manage this conversation to some degree I add some contacts to where leader board member, Kent was saying so yes when I reached out to City engineering they were more than happy to complete this survey the problem was as if they couldn't get it done before the end of the school year so they had recommended that we take care of this direct with that survey company and so I had presented that to cabinet and was given authorization to move forward with us funding that survey so that it could be completed before the end of this school year but the city was willing to cover that thank you for that Clarity sorry about that are willing to reimburse a few more minutes I do have to own up to maybe having have spoken without full understanding I was under the impression that the additional required or a a day to study was going to be done by the same company who is providing the Personnel to monitor the the the intersection it was never that case did the city had already identified as a separate group to do the data study to do the traffic study it just might not understanding and share with one member Laredo and incorrectly that's on me but isn't it what we want a little confused well we didn't want to conflict of interest we were using the current crosswalk contractor to identify how many of them we should have we're and that isn't what we're doing right not what we're doing now but we didn't know that you didn't know I was told something different in the future but I'd like to do is get and I act from Target and will second and at his own thing about it but in the future we need to have the enough of a Runway so that we are partnering well with our city with her City counterparts so that we can get these things going in the email ended the time frame that they need to be and I want to make sure that like you know okay we did a study we did it on from what I'm hearing from mr. roncetti we did it on the current crossing right and not necessarily maybe like some other I mean and median study there will be some highlights where we might say okay maybe if we will change the you know change it slightly you are whatever it is we're going to start are are students better but we need to have the the long-term planning where were partnering far enough ahead and with the city so that we can ask them to cover as many Crossings as needed mom and I'd like to move us towards that direction so that we're not put in the situation where you know where we are being reactionary and we're saying okay like now we have to do something we're just going to throw money at it and you know said and figure out how we are going to get more contractors because the contract that we have is at a higher rate than the cities so I would have loved and I don't know what was going on with that and whether or not we could have just like gone into partnership with the city to add more that time I don't think that that would have been the case but maybe because their rates change and they won't what an honor that I think that's what what happened but their rate is set for five years and that budget is still from the preliminary budget that I saw last week from the city it's still technically under ccpd even though it's managed out of parks and rec so and it looks right now it looks to be the same so I just want to make sure that we are you know that you're getting the direction that and it sounds like you've you you got it that it needs to have more of a Runway and that you're going to have a better relationship with each other activity to discover what our needs are because they cross these crossing guards cross more than just our students more than just our stakeholders and so I think I think that you had as long as we've had this discussion because this discussion has not come the board before the for this but also to what Mr Guerrero was pointing to is that like they would have the city would have done it but they couldn't do it within the time frame that we needed it so is that something that you can talk to the city of because of timing I we don't know what why you know what the background is with that I have an advantage at this point that I actually have directed roncetti who's been connecting and following through with all of the conversation back and forth with the city and for that I'm going and we will revisit the entire aspect of it including deep background of may be looking at the safe route to school program that maybe someday we can resurrect that in the large format biking walking in a way that allowed traffic reversing to come to school with a clean title and the complex area different rates that were paying compared to the city if you if you want I actually challenged the crossing guard company on that when I saw that the rates were higher than what the city was paying in their explanation was it because we were entering into a separate agreement with them crossing guards than what the city is the rate increases based increase based on the fewer number of crossing guard scooter Contracting if the city had been able to add the five Crossing cards to their existing contract it would have been at the rate that they were already for pain but it's based on the number of guards that were paying for I mean in this case I would have gone back to the city and said like can we work out an agreement that we expand their country like you know like and I just don't think that we were in a position at that time to not in a position to question had not come up as to how can we better partner with a city to get this you know taking care of whatever way that we needed even if it was on a temporary basis at that time so I just want to make sure that we're not setting a precedent that that we that that in the future we were going to be forking over more like money to war contractors that that you know isn't that a driven and that isn't that that without first working with our partners on it we actually tried to do that with the parks and rec and so the plan was to have amend their contract to add the with the crossing guard company to add the additional 5 crossing guard and then they would bill us for those Services the problem was has been in order for them to have had their contract amended they would have had to amend it then agenda is it for city council approval and then get it on the city council agenda or in the meeting for them to vote on it the time frame for that to happen open can allow us to get those crossing guards in place before the end of the school year so the alternate option was for us to contract direct with the crossing guard company so that we could get those five locations covered before the end of the school year attempt was made to piggyback off of their contract and let them manage and handle that whole addition of additional five times crossing guards how fast when you go when you get this turned around how fast are we going be able to determine what our needs are and then I'll plead our case to the city to regular channels through regular channels are the data we can present that to the city if that data supports the those five crossings that we were funding then we should be putting pressure on the city to based on that data with the same data collection company that they use for the how many Crossing location and putting pressure on them to take that data and add those services to their existing contract under their funding instead of ours okay and what I think at the other thing that it was one of my hyperlinks to you in the when we hit a genda is this this particular item was l.a. Or La City's a crossing guard in the program and how they handle it and how they have like a procedure for a run questioning requesting a review of potential Crossings as well so like I think that we need to have some kind of procedure for that in the future because this is going to continue to come up it may not come up as then in the future but I feel like we we do need to set some kind of procedure so that it's not all like it's not reactionary in the future it's like we should we should look at their model to see like they have a form where they say like you don't request a request an intersection for review and then and then these are the standards that they have to meet and then we'll get back to you on you know what that is so I think that we should be very clear public and not true that we would have gotten a better rate how we had we been able to buddy with them that that also have nothing to do with them so I just want to state that I'm not comfortable with that request it if that's a, can you end up having it having because other board members raised it that's a conversation you end up having but I'd like it to be known that I'm uncomfortable but that I appreciate different perspective that is something that like I said from the very big we would like to know the up all the existing positions and Personnel is an intersection we like to have a deep conversation if it's the one conversation one contract and and we go from there so yes I appreciate hearing from all the phone numbers thank you yes so are you comfortable living it as a whole and I do him do that that as a board section is staph a going to provide a report on the enrollment 10.2 I think you got the attachment showing the layout of month by month or the last the last few months and we are experiencing a little bit like in terms of hours and woman we one of them I look that we lost about a hundred students but then that neither here nor there I don't know whether that is a trend where that is a glitch in the in the attendance as of right now we don't have any hold on a second let me pull up the right page for the only way that I could gain of 20 students looking at K-12 from 8 to 9 so in the month of March and April you're right November march to April we did lose some when you compare the year before to that year up to that point and then so like I said it's it's not like a trending down it just kind of down and it just for information then we keeping track on on all of the enrollment send information item is there a discussion can't no thank you I do just want to Grouse about politike thing again is now we've got to school sites that are over 24 average on the t.k. and somewhere along somebody decided not to the state assigns ever single student in K3 an extra $953 so that we keep the class sizes in the bounds if you go over that average at one site you lose it for the whole district and 147 PK kid $40,000 that we are standing to lose next year because we didn't plan for growth or when growth happened we weren't ready for it and it sounds like it was something that was made business office of the superintendent's office is in one of these offices they decided it would be better to pay the fine but it's not that office will be losing a position next year it's a school site and a class and then it's it's really easy to make that decision that it's easier to take the fine then somebody else I think I believe at one point we had three particular factors number one just like you said should we just take the penalty and not thinking about hiring a new number to hiring a new person was another Factor but the third one is a tough one to find a classroom the facility was so tight we were looking at and I were looking a certain school to see can we have a glass they put silly and we can do this and the context and maybe sharing the roster having two adults in the same classroom was also considered but the space and the time it is so my apologies that we made a decision almost based on financial and it turned out not to be the best decision ultimately it is you know it's it's me so it is what it is but is what are we going to do differently next year so this doesn't happen again the reason meetings I've happy my colleague is that after the excitement I'm going to use the term excitement of t k in Roman the early train received this coming years actually is going to drop off I don't know why and we all struggling trying to the prediction is that the enrollment 40K for this coming year will be somewhat less robust than what we seen but looking across 2547 which is two passes 24-27 24 we're at Max we add two months to each of those you're going to have two or three kids every single school will be over if we just free and roll anybody who comes up and so we need to have a more prior to planet that are we going to offer an additional class you know where space above 24 at every site are we going to do that at one site and say you know this is where it goes so we only have to hire one or two additional teachers and find one or two additional classrooms and their need the growth will happen so yes we will be looking at the numbers gambling and then just kind of picked a better course of a Tennessee what the how far can we do anticipating growth rather than just hoping things will stalling out and then we'll just going to stand at the at the limit of it so I agree we should be planning for facility but I didn't stop and then anticipate ago deliberate concern on my part is at once the t k at rollover to the k again we facing the unknown will not sure what what that would look like but I will pay more attention I don't want to have this situation to come back and haunt why the other question that I asked about Big B not reflected in the enrollment reports is this a second ratio which is 12 to 1 and that is adults to students and soap every 12 students you have to have one adult one of them to be credentials and one of them can be I want to get to 25 or that 27 at bayona there need to be two A's in that classroom because you're over over that ratio for that the state gives every student $2,800 and if we violate that race we lose 2800 * 147 students still might my latest information on the ratio of student to adult we are okay there but I need to verify. That is a situation that we barely we barely there well and and we need to be verifying it ongoing not let's see how it turns out May it needs to be an ongoing process with ongoing adjustments during the year if we're getting into a situation where where approaching these types of help so thank you I think for me what's what's interesting about this in the end this actually I heard from one of the site the staff there was commenting on how they didn't understand and I frankly don't understand why enrollment isn't cap when we have such limitations right we have these is there a code that limits us from capping or or closing enrollment when we are at Max it's residency that I don't think we I don't think we could cut we could transfer soon some one side to another to fill a spot that we cannot say no to a child who lives in our community so I will find out for more but my understanding is that we have I need a place and it's up to us to states that two to feel the stopping needed and find a facility and train has stopped and now our classified support staff to do it so we can wish we could transfer student from homeschool to another school we exercised that too and so many cases it's a we get trapped into that not seeing the stadium is around Roman reign as that if some is a resident in the district we cannot deny enrollment and we have the opportunity to move them to where there's a space however seems like there's no space BTK in any of the school site or sometime when you move one to another and then the next day or another check from that very same school needing that very same spot it just so it's it's it's playing chess with you yes, going to Loop so then the question is is there a like one of our school sites that can potentially have a room that is like the floating ruin we we did consider the option as well so that's something that I need to work with are brand new group of project management structure manage to come in dating quick conversion of a space that can be quickly utilize and with a quickest way possible turn into a classroom 40K purposes that's something that we did not plan last year going and so that's a good strategy for to prevent this from happening that we have a floating room so that any overages or any Edition so everybody is is Apple 24 or the maximum right and then that anybody else throughout the year goes into the floating yes thank you because otherwise we're just going to continue to have this problem and more I hear what you're saying that we do not know what it's going to look like next year and I want to say but our students could always benefit from having smaller classroom right so if we have a floating room we can say like hey we understand this is that 20 for anybody interested to go but here. exactly the way I just want to make I want to offer this to to use superintendent. I am always excited to hear that there was room for a classroom where students can have a lower rate of 1 to 1 ratio at the 11 to 12 or 1:20 whatever the designated ratio is in in that's something I really would support because it will prevent us from you know trying to manage these number so accurately and at the same time the students I really benefit a green who do the audit Port is done a year behind so this this is the latest when submitted to us and the key finding is that there's no findings everything every spent every expenditure the the independent auditing company found that everything is up and up and I scan through this I also read the the one of two years ago and the 103 years ago and sober and then history measure K we do not have any expenditures that is contrary to the intended purposes of measure okay so it's included here bored to a review and it's an official document this is from the same group an item no motion required any comment from board on measure K Auto report and we'll start with Kent I've no comment no thank you it was a comment that this was in this person's view late and I remember something when I first kind of came on and in January the company had or the district had or somebody to ask for a little bit more time so there was a delay the night assembly laid am I remembering that there was the time doing that the great closure I'm just going to use that turn there was some delay that we requested but it's it's a year behind it takes a company to review 2020 22 and just now they sent us a final report so this year report will not come to us until almost the month of May next year so maybe that's where the statement is that it's late I I can't quite understand the car next week because the measure K report always come to us about the middle of May of the year before I I I don't know what the context of why is it like this not liked I do admit this to somebody we submit this to the county is there somebody once we reconstruct the the measure K oversight this is something that would be part of our discussion. There's no there's no where to turn this in this is just part of the the legal requirement as we pass the bond is that you have to monitor Yourself by an independent company so this is it but we're not reporting this to any other okay and just enough for the members of the public if there's anybody who's never looked at an auditor something like this in a way it's kind of anticlimactic the last couple of pages are always for finding you know there might be a finding that oh you need better Financial controls are all you overpaid disorder or something like that and you get it bullets and paragraphs that they think that they found it where can a minor errors you serious errors and both of ours just read no finding finding with with the mission from the Star anything you just get a blank page when everything's fine very final final paragraph the report's conclusion the result for a procedure indicated that in all significant respects Culver City Unified School District expanded measure K funds for the year ended 2000 2022 only for the purpose of approved by the voters in accordance with the requirements of the publish election materials specifying the intended use of measure K program the very last short paragraph spacing saying everything we spend for that year is it according to the intended purpose of measure k I am going to restate this for the Community because we have had a lot of public comment around measure K and so the report on the 2122 measure K Auto report states that up and 4/5 year ending June 30th 2020 to the financial statement presents fairly meaning ccusd expended measure caissons only for the purposes of approved by the voters this is listen to our community because there is an alleged communication the measure K is being messed up thank you so much for providing this standard procedure of auditing our expenditures and I'm grateful that there was no excitement in this report and I'd like to for us to consider perhaps the measure K Auto report be one of the things I will put her in a corner since we've had a lot of public comment on that. I don't I don't think it will satisfy the detractors because they're not talking about 21-22 there talkin about 22-23 so I appreciate that there were no findings but that I don't know that the accusations are about this the school year well the accusations are that the new is in appropriately expended at a measure K was there any invoices for measure for new Earth and we did actually new Earth was the originally approved on June 28th 2022 so by all account it is part of this review it is on that in 2022. we move that money out of a measure can we restore Michigan we put it back on learning loss Grant the one-time G so measure was charged as part of the if if my if my memories is correct it was approving June 28th I don't know that for sure but but either way the report is saying that everything is in the up-and-up so more to come this at work if you find this in please let me know if there is any expenditures or how would you I see you I was looking at the invoices because we got copies of the new Earth looks like they bill monthly for the amount for the annual October. December 22 oh okay so that kind of that would be in this year would be billed in January okay I see all right so this information it sounds like pretty clearly we Mick the in the nearest invoices are not part of this audit unless it was an initial payment at the time the car got it okay espresso a board member get out of please if there's any agenda item that we skipped police this is a time to speak 1 2 and 3 thank you alright so let's do business services action items 15.1 Amendment 16 I think this is a school that I'm sorry this is D&D overhead coverage for the high school and check to make sure or lunch area lunch shelter project and the amount is 2 / 15.1 that we go second inning is there a reason why this is a voluntary okay is there a reason why this is an amendment is it do we have an existing painting or whatever contract with this company and we're just adding this amount on to it please let me find out the the original amount because this was an added on to it. We can just search twinning it says amendments which leads me to believe we've had numerous we just kind of got an open thing that we can leave you all those in favor say aye 15.2 Amendment 17 agreement with 20 this is basically the same thing as well but with the weight room at the high school I'd like to move to approve 15.2 comet all those in favor say aye 15.3 contract with CMA painting the the bed and it seems like the lowest bidder bid was to be awarded by the district until there was some concern raised by a competitive company best way to go forward is to cancel all B and we do it all over again so that's my instruction to John Dunbar our colleague at with Harrison associate so I'd left the contract item here just to have a legal record that we at the last minute decided to do this rather than just doing it without any records of the board is recommended to deny all B send us back to the table having it is recommended that I can move to reject all bids and rebid the project second okay I'll visit they were saying but I do have questions I appreciate that background and just wondering if you consulted with any legal counsel yes almost multiple hours going through the process and and this was highly recommended as a course of action by a legal counsel I mean there was also I read the the letter from the competitor who can I submitted to complain and they did mention one of the folks who works for our legal team but the legal team that represented on these type should that person not be involved in whatever the next cycle is just so that there's no perception of any kind of impropriety or anything like that I'm still waiting to hear from legal counsel is that something that we could block so what will look into that as well because it seemed are there this more evident that we need to look at that I'm unable to say that there's some now detention do something right but that we looking at all the appropriate way so that only the B is coming in for this time around would be green so all of those in favor say aye I can add that we started with twinning this recent agreement in 2018 we've been in relationship with them for a very long time the testing them in the soil in the I believe we now going to board business and I like for us to consider board report if you all want to decline you can decline for those who want to provide a board report you're more than welcome to provide your board report after all are school board meetings as to conduct their business and therefore I want to make sure that the board and provide their report okay so let's start with board report first and which is agenda item 7 points 7.7 thank you and we'll start it okay so I do want to give a board report I really need to apologize in advance cuz I don't think it's brief and and it's it's been I mean you know I really want to honor the people that come and speak to us I really feel that's very important and so in order to do that and I want to honor some community interactions that have occurred recently and so this is the best way that I know how to do that so that preamble I will begin I man and just a couple things even came up today so regarding the multi-year plan which I know we will talk about it at a future date I really the flag went up for me regarding the reserve line item and so we definitely need to discuss that I just want to emphasize that we absolutely need to discuss our multi-year plan we need to talk about the reserve line item and the 2% board Reserve disappearing which is it looks like just a factor of the fact that the fund balance is so low that there's no funds to put there which is a really big 3% is the minimum and lots and lots of words all up and down the state feel that that is way too low this board hasn't discussed it so we'll need to do that I really am hoping that mr. Carney can respond to the board regarding numerous comments we've heard including yesterday very importantly from Miss egwene who has a lot of expertise on budget and a negotiations and so there's a particular budget analysis that was sighted and I understand that it's been shared with our labor Partners so it may or may not be a pro wait for mr. Kearney to see that I'm unclear but I would like to request that the board hear from Mr Carney regarding that budget analysis that was provided it seems really important and informational and and I'll reiterate and it and it can be via board report but of course if it can be public that's always preferred but I know there may be confidentiality matters there because this is negotiations so then again I'll even acknowledge that maybe we don't have a right to see it so I'm not clear one way or the other I'd love to know what we can see regarding the civilians budget analysis and what we we can have access to and then I've also asked before no ask again regarding the CFT budget analysis so I see that there may be some national resources available I'm sorry State resources available from CFT regarding budget analyses I'm but I'm I'm really unclear on if CFT conducted a budget analysis on ccrcs budget and I would really like to read it we had to write my request to mr. long it if we could see that if it's appropriate and haven't heard back I really want to gradually ccft on reaching a tentative agreement I know that it's been a very difficult process and I genuinely appreciate the very hard word work work put in and and then I'm not I will again extend appreciate for the collective action and in particular the sentiment that I think was was it a rated yesterday that labor is the power of ccusd and I hope I'm getting it right and I don't mean to to miss state it so I think the idea the sentiment is being reflected in this comment that labor is the power of ccusd with respect to yesterday I know that it's not easy to be here late into the school night and that are are reasons for being here will because of how much you care about her students and on behalf of myself and unlikely other members of the board we learned so much every time you connect with us both in public and less public settings I continue to Advocate from this position on the board for a living wage for all of our staff members as I had as part of both the former and the current body and I appreciate you and thank you for holding us to the commitment I wanted to comment on conversations around ongoing conversations with the community around independent contractors public schools are in the business of serving every single student that walks through our doors they are not in the business of choosing how much to pay for each individual student we do not say that you cannot attend our school because you need a one-on-one Aid we do not get to say that you can attend our school because of your mental illness and we don't get to see that he can attend our school because of your emotional needs paint why are your food needs being too high or your needs for clothing and books being too high in 2020 this school district ccic lost two students to Suicide I'm going to say it again in 2020 we lost two humans to Suicide the were under our care and as we continue to support our security department and others and ensure that our restricted aids for instance can become holy in house as opposed to the any of them right now that are through a third party to meet the needs of our students we do the same with serving the emotional needs of our students in our current crisis response in the short-term I also wanted to comment and something that may be relevant for all of our negotiations teams and their representatives regarding the California fair political practices commission leaving local government employment act the political reform act places to restrictions on the post governmental activity of officials who leave local governmental service these restrictions include a one-year ban applicable to high-level local specials the local one-year ban prohibit specified officials for one year after leaving local government office or employment from representing any other person for compensation by appearing before or communicating with former agency in an attempt to influence the agency's decision in an administrative or legislative action whether quasi-legislative or quasi-judicial or any action involving a permit license contract or trans action involving the sale or purchase of property or Goods the following officials are subject to the one-year ban a section 8740 6.3 local elected officials chief administrative office administrative sisters are of counties city managers or chief administrative officers of cities general managers or chief administrators of Special Districts including general managers or chief administrators of air pollution control districts are Air Quality Management District Section 8 740 6.3 regulation 187 46.3 a local government agencies include any County city or District of any kind including a school district or any other local or Regional subdivision or any Department division Bureau office board commission or any other agency of the foregoing it doesn't say any right there it says other agency of the foregoing Section 8 2041 okay that is my comment regarding the political reform act and then I have two more things to share one my great appreciation for Sony for supporting our students annually as they exhibit their films through the ADP a film screening that happens at the end of every year and to express incredible gratitude to in particular is Holly Gable but art actors of APPA Carol Lee and Tony Spano and of course our Arts coordinator Heather Moses for supporting all of our students as they do just incredible riveting inspiring moving emotional work we get to see and have this pleasure of the screening every year on on Sony's campus and it was it was moving as per usual this year and then I will end with a deep deep apology because we lost a member of our community some weeks ago oh and this body did not ever honor this person by naming the Lost we the the district honor this person in Ark over Pride but the body did not and that's really entirely on me because I've been here for some time I know this. I knew person very well well enough it was absolutely my my mistake my oversight I owe a deep apology to Mr Lee Lugo Sarah's family in particular her child who has children in the district my grandchildren at nccsd and I want to especially extend my apology to that family in particular for not having made the point as the long-standing board member to recognize the passing of Julie Lugo Sarah who was twice board president Julie Lugo Sarah you may also know was honorary Culver City historian was the district's first Latina board member serves on the board from 1985 to 1993 including two stints as board as a native of Culver City Star was appointed the official Culver City historian in 1996 and was the producer and host for the popular cable program local history Legends and lore she was an accomplished author whose public published Works include Culver City heart of screenland images of America Culver City California fire burn and cauldron bubble as well as the teacher's resource manual for the Culver City schools in Associated video glimpses of Culver City part of Greenland so again I call move to adjourn in board member Sarah's honor memory and just want to be really clear that I take full responsibility for having not done so sooner and I do apologize once more thank you Laredo I'm going to be I'm going to be more brief board member Guerrero and I attended last week blacksta LA County School Board trustees school trustee association's end-of-year meeting in Beverly Hills we met with our colleague there through Zumba as a representative and they I get a new board with Hats it was they gave us Beverly Hills USD hats but you will not catch me wearing City all the way when it broke already but it was really exciting because they had their CT e they had CTE programs on display where they and they also had him USD I'll come and presented their programs for before and after school and enrichment and it was really such a wonderful model that I would like to continue and end these places of for development and Forbes sharing of best practices is really key because our neighbors and are not that I mean to Hemet is pretty far away but like they're wonderful people that are doing great things in order to stir their students especially the most marginalized students and we need to be able to learn from our fellow colleagues and take best practices here and so I looked and end in in that also I've been attending a lot of a csb workshops and training that they come up especially the Mets provision for a budget and I'm almost done with governance training my last module is weak during all that's not next week or two weeks from now during a graduation week so if you see me a little blurry I had maybe that's why but I I just finished another module this morning from yesterday and this morning and I feel like I'm learning a lot my colleagues there and about and this week was about evaluation HR valuations and collective bargaining and I have one more module left before I finished my masters in governance I highly recommend that all of our members make time even if you can't make time to go to the trainings I have saved resources for us and and and can share these with you at so that if ever you wanted to go over at yourself you have these resources to to refer to I also have to last week board member Guerrero I also he's been getting a lot of me lately and thank goodness we like each other the council TTS a h s a a award and I want to thank all of dedicated volunteers that really put their time energy at into our schools to make them better these people are very many of them are very near in order me and including those that serve on the AC who have been doing a lot of great work and I just want and I want to shout out to reac you also just because there is a lot of emotion labor done in that room because when a lot of the issues that we do take up our issues that are because we want to interrupt this route to prevent Harmon Trauma from afar students and and I would also say and although I haven't been to a d a c meeting in a little bit because last week was also the first graduation which was in conflict with d a c but you know. Especially these two beat these two bodies I can't think these these participants enough because you know when we discussed items and issues at hand it's you know our it it really reaches your heart and you either feel that something has to be done immediately in order to interrupt or prevent more harm and I just want to say that like we can't be we are worried about these things and we we need to we need to have rest and have our self care and just keep on shipping at it and in that in that sense I I want to also call out weave Doctor Smith's mentioned it briefly earlier but we our Affinity graduations the remainder of her finis graduation coming up this week and so I may 31st is kente graduation and followed by an API graduation on June 1st and really looking forward to selling reading and honoring those those students who were participating there and and all seniors the week after so that and I just want to say I thank you to all of the I think there were 45 comments that were delivered yesterday and including those 45 not in not including those 45 Cummins but we received between Monday and Tuesday we received a lot of comments digitally is well and you know week it is through our work here sometimes like now are border ports don't come in till the end and I'm I'm sorry about how unsatisfying it might be that we cannot you know respond to every single one of your comments but they are being heard red and taken into account as we as we provide our direction to staff as we make our decisions and as we formulate how we want to move forward as a board so I just relationships and so I'm hoping to communicate more of that soon thank you thank you for remembering Loretta for reminding you about the the Lacs the CPE there was was the display of the CPR CPA is just as good with the way that they presented it was particularly death there were students there for Dave a fashion CPA to students where they are with the models and do it and showing out the forms that they were showing off with it made in the students wandering around what kind of snacks and things like that and then we realized o each student had prepared the snacks that they were serving and they had no cook little desserts are cooked little Savory dishes to things like that until they've got a culinary arts e t e I'm in the students were able to walk around and share that with folks I'm so it was very nice and likes was nice to Jason ceremony was was beautiful last week number of speakers student speakers who were telling about their life and their experience and their families in Spanish than English both at each student had kind of PowerPoint slides they had met with with pictures of family and pictures of a life and it was just a very very nice event our own but not that spoke with one of the speakers there and it was it was very nice so I'm really glad I went to that I am do not be able to make Auntie graduation this weekend fortunately because I've got a family commitment but I should be able to make it to all the other ones but again to that the folks participating in the Kent State graduation congratulations we also went to the honorary Service Awards PTA and that was I've never been to one of those that was a remarkable event just the amount of time that post put into that in the honoring other volunteers and folks would have done things in the leadership of the ptas and of the PTA Council put hours and hours and hours into just that event but it really it really reflects all the hours that they put into doing work for our schools and our students that want to appreciate that I want to appreciate maybe they're not part of the leadership level but they do volunteer at the schools and just everybody who is involved with PTA even if it's just buying your PTA card at the beginning of the year and putting in a few bucks to to help the program something so thank you to the PTA for that I do want to clarify I got an email asking about this or do you want to clarify a comment I made it our May 2nd meeting which was the Brookstone meeting that didn't happen there was some questions about where there was some discussion if you remember there was discussion about when it was posted and things like that and one of the things that I have said he is yes I didn't get my notification until 70 whatever time that was one of the things that we did discover in investigating that whole process is that a lot of us who are signed up I can't even figure out how I signed up I think it was when I signed up for my board account there's an automatic email that's triggered but it's not triggered when the agenda is posted it's triggered when the agenda gift kind of highlighted to be at the top of the list for the weeks email so but I do want to also appreciate staff for getting that out earlier this week it was one of those things that it was out much much earlier and so I think more people had access to the agenda something this week so thank you for that congratulations to all of the employees of the Year about the site employees that we saw a little bit while ago in the folks who were selected as employees of the year for the whole disk this year I would like to suggest maybe next year that we invite our union leaders up to help recognize the folks being honored in their units that would have been very nice to have the two presents or the three presidents up there just to also congratulate members with the rest of us the request may be for the Friday report or sometime next week I'd like to get some information on the timeline for notifying our folks on free one-year contracts and it is a number teachers aren't a one-year contract and there's our counselors a couple of counselors there on temporary one-year contract to what is the timeline for making the official decision I know unofficially we've all talked about yes we every single person back but you know that's not official until this official notification then and the district can make that budgetary commitment people as we heard and and having been through this process myself people look for other jobs you know if you're not sure about 1 here and there's not a single one of those folks that we want to lose so the sooner we can notify them officially and make that commitment to better I'm going to just live update on when that is and then again tennis last night just kind of at the end I would like the board to take a look at the newer contract not necessarily to get rid of it or anything like that but just to look at it have a discussion we had a presentation last night I have a good discussion herself about where it's meeting our needs if we are satisfied with the number of hours that is providing and make sure that we want to continue with the contract as it's written or if you want to change the services or have a discussion about that type of thing I would like to have that agenda at some time before the El Cap gets approved because like everything else what we're providing our students for sofa mental Services should be if not part of the El Cap at least in alignment with what that's doing and so I'd like to have that you know that I guess one of the June meeting at this point if we can meet at the first one but but at least and you and that's fine so thank you and thank you for hanging out for last and if I was there thank you for being a colleague there and I I wanted to take this moment to discuss a couple of things that I think are really important 2 do you know when one of our roles as board is to have efficient meetings and we continue to hear from Mark Unity that there's some growth areas they're so so I want to formally ask so I'm going to start with cabinet and our superintendent please consider the overall agenda we are now I believe on our 10 of this agenda and so if when you know we have sections in the agenda if there's already three items and information can we please request cabinet and our superintendent to consider adding those to the next general meeting if that is not possible I like to formally remind board member Sue please save your Tuesday evening so that if for example there's an urgent matter but it could be a study session or it could be a special meeting that that gets posted and I'd like to ask the staff if there is a if we can put draft agenda for 2 weeks ahead so instead of is having next agenda draft it let's have two agendas drafted on board dogs so that this way cabinet when they're posting meetings and they see there's already free information items they just posted on the next one and so we can start populating to meetings in advance no I think that the if that's not possible then we really need to formalize that the first Tuesday of the month is going to be a special meeting and that cabinet and superintendent need to put any information items that are presentations really should go under you know a special study session I mean today at 4 for this Linda we had under information 11 items it's just not achievable in one day for consent agenda we had 10 for public recognition with those are normal for a Wards and recognition we had nine so I really want us to think about if there's three under any of these directions let's put it in the meeting in a special meeting or in the next meeting and I really would like if the board does not agree with that if or agrees with that please like nah. we really need to become more efficient okay so that was my first suggestion the second suggestion is for the board so we heard 45 public comment last night yes tonight I'm sorry okay so why you open that it said so for the board we continue to receive public comment that our meetings are too long not efficient I want to remind the board of War policy 9323 which states that we as a board that can have the tools to provide an efficient meeting now every time I'm going to start reading this policy every time that we know we're going to go past 20 minutes because the community needs to understand that we are not following a board policy that really are board policy says 20 minutes if it's past that the Board needs to consider that you were are now not following your policy now you know going with who wants to do public comment and so I'm just going to state that I'm going to start reading that there's this weird policy when I read it every time that I see that there's more than 10 public comment members so that the board really consciously is making the decision to due to not fall apart it was a total of 45 last night 26 of them wear on non agendized and that's another reason why I really think it's important for us to take advantage of the special meetings because then it could be focused on getting public comment specific on that topic instead of you know none of them thighs topics I that the third thing I wanted to say is I continue to want to have a discussion around student awards ensuring that we are we as a board have discussed the wards as I stated this meeting we had nine Awards and I I just want to see if if the board can provide input into these Awards and also how there could be some Synergy between the awards that we are putting in place so for example we have a monthly American Citizenship Award I believe that's what it's called I'm scrolling up right so that's the monthly one and then now we have the we have the amplify student voice award so one recommendation is like what whenever we do that may Citizenship Award it does not come at the same time that the amplify student voice Awards right it needs to be staggered so that we don't have nine Awards on one meeting and I also want to have a discussion on how to proceed because you know we saw that there was the executive assistants were there yesterday and so how we can collaborate with executive assistant for us all to have a normalizing how awards are going to be given I absolutely agree with the comment of like hey if we're given an award to staff or teachers Hey listen by our labor Partners this this is the type of conversations that I want to have in at 1. and I think it's really important for us to and it won't help our board meetings more efficiently the last thing that I want to say is each of the board received the board governance book and the the governance core book and I really feel it's it's important for us to read recommending the board to please read chapter 2 which is systems thinking because I feel that as a board we need to be more system thinking instead of more taste the sific thinking if there's some situation happening today I would like for us to be thinking about how can we improve the system so that this situation doesn't happen in the future I am so that's in Chapter 2 I really encourage the board to to read this and and perhaps we can have a discussion at a board retreat around this system okay I am now moving as I'm done with my board corner and I want to ask the the board what my board report and I want us to move us to work corner thank you so much I'm so bored corner what are we thinking we want to put and remember we have two weeks so we can discuss this week and we can discuss next we have so many people to recognize and honor my only regret is that we probably don't have a really good pictures of each thing there was some that we're like we had so many people up there the ones where we had fewer people were more like I feel like they got more of a there do in terms of like a focus on that so I don't know how any of those we
