let us know when you're Rebecca when you're ready for her is anybody in the lobby okay I will come to the ccusd Board of Education meeting my name is Paola Minnesota I would like to call this meeting to order at 5 p.m. today is December 5th 2023 if someone is anyone in and zoom for public comment and there is no one in the room for public comment so can I get a motion to reset call session all those in favor say aye thank you very much for joining us welcome to the ccusd Board of Education meeting my name is Paulo Masala and I'm the president of the board I would like to call this special meeting of the Board of Education conduct a district business and public to order at 6:27 p.m. on Tuesday December 5th we have five board members present and at this time I would like to 3 points on the agenda item 3.2 there were no actions taken in closed session moving on to four point one public recognition guidelines the board at this time I would like to welcome all of those in person and in Zoom to provide that would like to provide public comment on our single agenda item today our agenda item is 6.1 resolution 24 which is the resolution of the Board of Education of Culver City Unified School District or during an election and establishing specification of the election or if you are here person please submit your card or executive assistant if you're here be assumed please raise your doom hands at this time President we currently have two stickers requesting in person and now about 3 on Zoom if one more person coming okay so we have three in-person sticker cards and three on Zoom okay so that's six and that would take us to 18 minutes as which means that I will close public comment is that where we truth so we are closing public for both be as new and in person can we start with those in person and welcome everybody the first speaker is George losey I did that right if you could feed the next one would be dr. Carolyn Levasseur at followed by Andrew lockman thank you thank you and you will there's a three-minute timer you will hear it at the end but I will give you a one-minute warning in the room good evening board members thank you I read we're at the one window meetings that the that the board said that Santa Monica and Beverly Hills have done three Bonds in the last 15 years so I just did a little digging and that's not quite right according to states that data website Santa Monica has passed three large Go-Go bonds of 385000400 + 85 million + 195 million Beverly Hills is only passed to go bonds in the last 15 years according to Ed David passed it 334 million-dollar bond in November 08 and a 260 million dollar Bond killed in November 16th and later the voters passed a 385 million dollar bond in June June 2018 it really makes me wonder why the board by the board and its advisers chose to compare a c c u s c c c u s d with one of the with two of the more High valued school districts in LA county as a comparison according to LA County taxpayer guide Beverly Hills has almost 2.85 times the assessed evaluation than that of cease USD in Santa Monica Malibu has 4.6 times these perennially top 10 districts and asset valuation have a much higher Pirate festival but how you waste than ours and they could easily afford to borrow a half a billion dollars on facilities upkeep Beverly Hills has on the link on the latest numbers is is almost 40 to build billion dollars Santa Monica is almost 70 billion dollars and during the same same time Culver City is around 15 I doubt the higher Bond advisor will want the board or District administration to remind local voters during the bond campaign at the Disco latest unaudited actuals show they were already paying 7.1 million in annual payments for outstanding bonds totaling 113 million dollars even if the disc we received even if the district were to receive a relatively low 2% that respond interest rate on his 358 million-dollar Bond loan the average weekly interest which is now just under three and a half Property Owners will pay close to a half a billion dollars before its principal and interest were paid are paid Mister last time is it seems like you wrote your statement can you would you mind sending it to us via email we were greatly appreciated thank you so much for this important input can we proceed with the next thank you okay good evening board I brought one of my Ice Posters again there's a lot of concern in the community because in the 2019 future-ready report there was a plan and it for would move the district office I mean this really is a son we'll plan it look at district office to elenda and Farragut and you could see yours a footprint community room that's amazing very important and parking 74 spaces I guess it's not to Green there I guess people don't want to take in a lot of stuff don't want to take the bus and then here is the if you tear down the district office here is the plan which obviously the the district will not be funded with the bond but it shows how here on this site right here you could have a nice for a 4-story housing that's got one bedrooms and singles and all it's actually in a beautiful plan you think about it what Brookwood was talking about and haven't the final report but if you tear down the district office and move it to the Orlando campus then you would have Surplus land as Surplus land I mean very valuable land here and would only make sense to that lease the land which is an option is definitely an option you could lease the land and then a developer could build on this land and then that would provide Revenue talk to the abuser we're here talking about the bond just because that's where it's going to be very expensive to move the district office but of course that's what you do we have Surplus land this was how he spent and it's actually I think one of the priorities is to move the district office not that it's all that bad and then then you lease the land and that creates a revenue stream for the district now the thank you the question is for the voters is do they really want the district office move to that campus and least which is agreeance a revenant I mean there's no doubt about it and I'll just say this one way of thinking about it so this is what will be before the voters and so the people at home can see this chart but I'll be happy to send it and of course it would be posted at save see cusd.org the website so if you want to see it there as of tonight it will be there save ccusd. Andrew lachman all right thank you all for coming here and I noticed someone who was involved with the bond feasibility committee and extensive discussions I laid out what I thought were three or four things that were necessary in order to consider a and at this time one that it be narrow enough where it would go under the 300 so we could get it passed with under 55% that is being done although it is at the maximum secondly I was making sure that it narrow focused on facility stuff that needed to be fixed now it does do that and it does also a focus on a couple of administrative buildings in later phases but not a new admin nation building but in office for the office of Child Development which those use offices can also be used for classrooms which I think is important because we need more classrooms the last part I mentioned was about Outreach and the importance of in this happen now in this area is still I would say a work in progress and we haven't fully achieved but I think what we need to do if we want to make this work in March otherwise it would make sense as some have suggested to push off to November but I will say here is that we need to make sure that we are updating the plan and talking with the stakeholders all over again that if that means talking with teachers talking with administrators talking with families that means talking making sure we're reaching out to our teachers whoever raised concerns about the parking in the Middle School have raised concerns about the loss of the field in the middle school and other concerns because they're going to be living with us everyday and having them on board as got to be very important and then final I've mentioned this before about the families but whatever we can do to get updated information from our students and their parents about what we need so that we have an updated and narrowed plan that is the other piece of needs to be done if all of those things are done and I understand a number of them are in progress then we may be able to build a consensus we need to get this past but the all those things really do need to be in place for us to make a difference and with a child I how much time do I have left 45 seconds as somebody with a with somebody with who is a parent of a 5th grader I do want to make sure that some of this benefit is able to be passed to those who are in the middle school and we're entering to the middle school because if this something gets biscuits put off for too long then high school students don't get to benefit and base maybe the first graders get get that benefit by the time they get into the high school when we need to be better than that we know things are falling apart we know we need to do better and we know that we need to focus on and honestly I thought about not speaking tonight because I don't Culver I don't vote in Culver so I'm kind of just watched for this Bond but I've listened and I've listened to the staff and I've listened to the community and what I'm hearing is that there's not trust yet we need the bond there's no question I want to disagree a little bit with the last speaker at the high school there is no mention in Phase 1 of any new buildings for students that's a big concern at the high school there is talk of a better flow in the parking lot of new Administration buildings but the people who are living in The rat-infested Moldy Bungalows and the students are learning in the rat infested multi Bungalows are not the phase one list so here's what I want to say both Mr long and Miss hammy asked that you wait till November so that you could build trust there was a very contentious bargaining season last season you don't have the trust of the staff the staff you don't have the trust or support of the staff we want this stuff to support this because we want the bond but I am very concerned from what I've heard from the community and these meetings and at the school sites that it will not pass in March and that we will not get the money we so desperately need at the last meeting the board said they wanted to will trust I understand there's been talk of listening sessions you need to come out you need to get the plans finalized you just show the buildings that will be rebuilt then you will maybe maybe get the stuff support I don't think it's ever good idea to rush anything like this it seems very rushed and I would just like you to consider that thank you for your time thank you when was nasty Stalin yes hi I'm a mom of three young adults who proudly attended ccusd schools from K to 12 and my youngest graduated in 2022 so I am a you remember but I'm also a current pass mom during my time as a mom of students I did a lot of volunteering on the campuses so I know how dearly our facilities need extreme house and that is why I fought hard to get the preview facilities Bond on the ballot and why happily served on that Bond citizens Bond oversight committee to make sure the money for spent correctly but I'm speaking tonight as an experienced Community member who once our facilities improved for current future I want a bond past this is why I encourage you to consider that it took hard-working volunteers over a year to sell the idea the last Bond to the community it was hard work to pound the pavement send emails gain needed trust hold meetings talk neighbor to neighbor and at that time a parent group even invested their own money to make flyers and social media ads to reach out to people who were normally beached it was a labor of commitment and love so I hope when you consider when March or November you want to put this Bond on the ballot you consider if you truly have the time the trust and the people power to get Culver City voters on board I'm listening to the comments tonight as well as questions about whether or not you plan to sell at least District property to go housing or otherwise and comments from our union representative I'm not convinced that you have this need to trust yet and also for the last Bond we were working off a current very thorough needs planned and I am concerned that the current needs plan assessment is five years old when we hit the new year condom I heard the interim superintendent say that a lot of needs have changed since covid so I much as I want the bond to be past I think that do my experience you need a longer leave thank you so much thank you and mr. long yeah I wasn't prepared to speak tonight I didn't even see a public portion agenda when I resent looked at it I'm a union general membership meeting I was asked to go and make some comments tonight I do have more thorough comments for Tuesday night's board meeting about where our staff is I just want to say and I've said this numerous times I'm a wreck right I think the process is being rushed as well I'm just confirming with Miss Grasso in the last comment sir it takes time to build trust and the trust it's just simply not there it just is not there right now I can't speak for the our community but certainly a Debbie and I can speak for the staff we actually have data to support this trust is just simply not there right now and I got to be honest this current paint job you're doing is actually killing trust even more with what the district is able to do trust meeds to be built and you know I have presented a three-part plan to the superintendent and that I'd like to see carried out on starting a January is a way to begin a building trust with the staff it's really going to take some heavy lifting but I just am fearful that we just don't have a lot of time and listening to that last person talk about it took a year last time and I can definitely say cuz I was around back then there was a lot more trust back in 2015 on the previous pain and you're talking to friends Santa Monica which gets thrown out a lot babe also plan their bonds out a lot more there's a lot of questions of Staff really has had no input in these priorities just are small bargaining team looking at the maps that were up on the district wall just the seven members of our bargaining team were kind of been shocked with how things were prioritised very School site so we had representatives from all different School sites are they just couldn't believe what does Maps look like and the priorities that were on the on the website that's up right now there needs to be a whole lot of Outreach to the staff which is why Debbie and I Volstead you know it it's better just to wait a little bit I'm do this right we need this our facilities and are in really bad shape that really old no one doubts that but you just really need the time to free build that trust to get people on board with this so I will have more comments at the next board meeting including more details about our three-part plan to start building trust amongst the staff thank you thank you and that concludes our call the Cottonport president you so much we are not moving to action items and I would like to under action items we first Steve additional background analysis from our staff and then we introduced a motion members of the board introducing will have a discussion and then we'll take action I thought. point I would like to invite our staff to present on items 6.1 resolution 24 thank you so much thank you so much I'm president of Missoula and welcome board members distinguished guest folks that are joining us on Zoom I think you for this opportunity on October 10th when I first joined you at the first board meeting of my tenure you requested I invested the feasibility of an education facilities Bond I have learned about your past work with the master plan that was adopted in 2019 and I have also learned that your next steps now to look at funding so that you can approach a comprehensive plan to modernize classrooms address the safety needs of the schools to promote an environment conducive to learn creativity and a sense of safety I would ask if I'm Rebecca could help me with our since Williams if you could help me with the PowerPoint and then if we could also bring down our our screen here in the boardroom and what I'm sharing today is a PowerPoint location that we shared with our community and pedi around the feasibility and I want to share the timeline for your consideration again looking at your bond really starts with what you adopted in the master plan of 2019 and if you could help me mrs. Williams I'm looking at at slide for I believe master plan okay thank you oh I see it thank you so much for that thank you and if you could move on to the next slide and so here you have an overview continued what happened in 2019 Gathering input from our community our staff working with our Architects and I'm really bringing us to post covid because we did learn so much about how students now learn with greater accessibility I'm sorry to interrupt you I don't believe that those on Zoom can see the presentation and we have almost 40 people there and so I just was curious how have we done this in the past that soon can see it soon audience so should I if we give us co-host and we can open the PowerPoint and share thank you about now okay perfect I think I can I am sharing now am I sharing for those weren't okay perfect may you proceed where it slides for excellent thank you so looking at and what we have learned in our post covid action again we had an opportunity to look at direction from the board to request that we move forward with the next steps and we were able to activate resources activate that study to include a Community Committee to talk about how we can address the cost associated a comprehensive plan and still moving forward to the next flight if you could look at the perfect right there excellent so we had a chance to go back to the sites work with our Administration team work with board members and talk to that were available and get their input and based on what we learned this year we were able to make some adjustments to the master plan and have proposed for you a new consideration I want to share that what I heard is that Community would like to be involved they want more engagement and so we are prepared to have a meetings at the site that I will go out and join our principles our school staff and review our educational facilities master plan and gather their input because we know that this is an iterative process it's one that's a draft so we will continue to work with our community so that we can play our ties together we can work on what will happen first in phase one once we move forward and again Gathering input from our classified are certificated our management and I also want to share that board members have agreed join me when I go out at the site meetings and our first one is this week and so then we will plan them out with the support of our principals if we have two board members and they are able to comment if we have three or more board members they will be in listening mode so I'm that's just to give you a preview but our goal is to make sure that we are engaging our folks I will then share that feedback with our incoming permanent superintendent dr. Lucas and then asked that he be a part of listening with our community and our parents moving forward so that they too have an opportunity to walk through the master plan as listed on our website and gather input at the sites that we can gather engagement opportunities he's at different modalities we are prepared and this is very exciting to establish model classrooms are model classrooms one at La bayona and one at the middle school will highlight new flex seating cuz we know that when we meet the needs of diverse Learners we also have to have furniture and technology that supports their learning needs and so we will prepare that this year so that we can host an open house and have people walk through Community input teacher staff from different elementary schools different secondary programs look at it and give us in put on what would best meet the needs of our students across the district it's exciting to highlight how we're going to engage our community and lighting to highlight that we will be able to provide a safety place that will allow for creativity and teaching and learning and if we could keep moving forward to our next slide keep going all the way mrs. Williams to purpose of the icoc and so we will establish as part of the bond requirement Implement a community oversight committee and because we hear that the community would like to be further we would like to establish this plan this committee before the bond is before we passed that in March if you decide to go in March and so we posted an applications to gather interest and we are also prepared to expand the committee so we are technically required to have seven members have a meeting that's just really one meeting per year but we heard there's an interest to have more meeting so we want to prepare bylaws that will allow for more frequent update to the board want to be able to publish our our our committee within the next our next meeting and we want to share with the board a draft of the resolution for the committee oversight and its expanded format want to be able to share again draft bylaws so we will have that for your consideration if you decide to move forward in March but again we heard loud and that we need to do three things and that is together input from Community gather input from staff consider the draft a letter to process that we can prioritize to get there and then also expand committee oversight the community oversight committee that's what I want to say so we want to do that and share that publicly with everyone because we know this is critical to our our bond if we could go to the I also want to highlight a little bit about the pros and cons of going in March versus November Williams if you could move forward I think it's two more slides and what we listed here are important data point for our community to see so we have this first slide and then we have the next lie that again highlight the pros and cons and I want to share that at our last committee meeting and if you could go to the next slide as well so we get a chance to see it together we had a chance to review the pros and cons and we had a chance to really take input from the committee we had a 221 boat say go in March that's 8:42 and we heard from The A-Team the 18th they said it's important for us to make sure that we are gathering engagement make sure that we are gathering engagement from our staff that we are talking to families and that we are talking about an iterative process as we work through the priorities and I hear the board is committed to that I hear that we are committed to expanding the oversight committee so that everyone knows who will be on that committee before we go forward in March also want to highlight that the district has sent out a community survey that we mailed to our families in Culver City and we ask that you please look for it in your mail it is titled splints for Essentials for excellence and it includes a a tear away on portion at the bottom that you mailed back to the district so that we can continue to engage with you we will also push out the QR codes in English and in Spanish so that if did not get that Miller you can still participate and if you know of someone that needs that your code that linked they can also participate because again we are committed to engagement ring committed to an iterative process expanding our community oversight committee so board members if you have questions I would love to answer any questions that you may have at this time can you turn the light back on and then I'm going to stop sharing until okay so for 2 discussion opening my note if we can start if we can start with Jada at all ant as a door Lotto thank you I really appreciate it. You're pulling just work that you put into this and that in the short time you've been with us I think the way that you've laid the information out and the communication you had with the board and the various interest holder groups as it has been quite good so thank you very just a couple of questions that deal with what was brought up in your presentation and some of the ones from that came up in the various comment somebody had mentioned the sale of land that is not part of this plan in any way nor would it be even legal under this correct that is correct you're not allowed to use Bond money for that and on the board to take further action and clarifying had two separate votes at the last board meeting seen if he will stop at conversation it is not nor are we planning to move the district office to another location okay and then mentioned a little bit the priorities you know there's been some comment about the order the priorities that is all still flexible the priorities that we kind of see now or a draft that came from The Architects pay some kind of their their architects. two of the sequence of these things but a lot of that is is still flexible just my right absolutely it's a draft and we want to work with our community so that we can gather their input and make adjustments thank you very much thank you is are the consultants and or CCOC staff making a recommendation tonight we are recommending that you move forward in the March one thing that I thought might be helpful I don't I don't imagine this was intentional but we spent a lot of time on zoom and up here with some of the slides and not others in terms of the content around pros and cons in particular I'm wondering if there is if it'd be appropriate just spent a little more time on the last three slides or the last I'm second-to-last 15 + 6 just to be sure that the community sees the attachment for all that it has to offer absolutely we did attach this presentation to our agenda that's so it's available to our community and enter the lists of pros and cons starting with that first page that you indicated on the financial benefits so assuming a 5% construction cost escalation each year of project delays it's estimated to cost 20 alien and purchase power to the escalation could certainly be higher so going sooner will help us with that an estimated 75% of school districts will pursue Bonds in November sopes passing a March Bonsai allows earlier access to Architects to engineer's to contractors to suppliers and school Improvement vendors we also know that on some bar neighboring districts have been waiting a long time for DSA approval and getting that early start will help us also I move it forward as well Statewide school bond in November should provide matching bunding but it's allocated on a first-come first-serve basis the March winners get first in line so this allows us to again qualify earlier for that matching funding as far as our educational benefits I want to share that projects can be started as soon as summer of 2024 with what we're calling quick start projects that don't require State approval projects that require division of State architect what we have been calling TSA approval can be started as soon as the summer of 2025 that means that teacher staff and students will be able benefit from classroom and facility improvements earlier than a November election and if we look at that second slide again title pros and cons we see that I'm Culver City Unified School District is currently near the end of the disability process of evaluating support for our Improvement Bond and so again bringing this to our voters tells us that you followed a timeline that gathered and put it so now I'm an opportunity for us to celebrate the work around Master facilities plan state aid funding and bond funding analysis statistically valid telephone voter survey these are all things you've already done it's the natural Next Step currently wearing Gigi Nara stakeholders our community Sears and so I heard that no one disputes the need for facility improvements the funding mechanism or the amount of taxes feedback has been supportive to attempt a measure in 2024 that the question really is are you bored numbers March or November okay thank you I will just extend incredible gratitude for tonight's presentation and all the work that you've put into print in Killeen it's been a very heavy and left and I greatly appreciate all the Goodwill that you garnered through you're in a relationship building with our community and stop and I also want to think that I'd hock subcommittee for the work that you have put in in the same regard but also in your in Your Capacity as board members and I have just for the first time tonight seeing the informational mailer that has gone out to the community because I've looked in my mailbox yet but because I saw it here at the district office and it's really incredible and but I'm voting yes just letting you know and so I appreciate I love this and I wanted to ask for one thing and if I'm putting you on the spot I'll retract my  and try to restate it in my own words but I'ma had a conversation with superintendent meeting recently where you were talking about wanting to honor the community's comments and concerns around trust and that there are some really interesting built-in mechanisms already in the way that I'm Revenue measures work in the way that Revenue gets spent ballot measures in particular and I was wondering if you'd be willing to speak to that now tell me a little bit clearer in that it's a very time-dependent man and the folks that work on passing bonds are often not the folks that work on spending bonds and that's true sometimes at both aboard and US top level and that these are things that I was I would like to ask to speak to a little bit oppositely if that's appropriate sure and I hope I'm understanding the asked what we see is that the timeline for a superintendent it it's sometimes were here seven years sometimes were here 3 years however what matters is that community members will be here for the duration of the bond board members on sometimes he served one term sometimes you get more terms what matters is that community members will be here the lifetime of that Bond and I asked the community to please be accountable to the children of the district passed the bond work towards the bond and then be Advocates to make sure that they are accurately spending our dollars so that we can create environments that are conducive to creativity learning and growing but it is true that our tenure as superintendent as board members we come and go rather quickly what indoors are the community members and so I asked the community members to continue to step up to be able to hold us accountable and to do right by our youth and Culver City okay I think that's helpful thank you thank you so much you know having served on the subcommittee for the past however many weeks and times on I don't necessarily have question because I was intimately involved in in in the day today and then the community was very profound experience for me to be or just to have that level of Engagement and constructive an active participation for my community I meant I just want to thank the community for offering that to us and coming to the table with your comments concerns and opinions and and I think that I share with you to join my colleagues in in in today also I've got a few people who started this work years ago the idea of a bond was not something that came out in the last 3 weeks vacation day idea of a bond I think well before me to 2910 South I think that this is just a refined and expansion of the work that was started a fueling station. I want to think that was straight and restarting at and my colleagues here at the logic stop in the community sing it to the finish line and leading us to be here I know that this question comment of concern and Trust comes up all the time and I I know she's myself but I think that will agree. We all know that we can collectively do better not the teachers and families and students deserve nothing less having graduated kind of recently on their everyday keeps getting on their way as I see myself page but having recently graduated from the district younger brother who learns everyday and our facilities I think our facilities in the state that they're in as no surprise to anyone here anyone listening to me when I see that. Lets me know that this the moment for urgency that this is the moment for impatience because mr. Students deserve to learn and Thrive and be educated and beautiful and accepting and walking building but I think that we are here because we know that we last March forward together and we must take bold steps and strides are students until I am so happy to be supporting this today and happy with the work that we've been doing want to think our interim superintendent dr. Murray Murray and our entrance Evo Mr McReynolds for the work that you all have been doing and I look forward to passing the sandwich thank you I want to thank my colleagues for serving ad hoc committee and also for bringing up very different points that you. I think needed to be reiterated for our public I do want to a doctor poo in again more so going back to the concerns of the teachers at spoke today which may be indicative of you know the feeling of most of the work that we want them to be heard and so we heard Mr long refer to the listening sessions that you were talking about how can you talk a little bit about more about the time lying that you want those listening sessions to occur in and the type of feedback that and going into a little bit more about the type of feedback that we are Arkansas I've been getting from them during this time because the Master Plan update and it was updated I know that we heard a public comment that said that it has not been it definitely has been updated and do that we are continuing on making this process is iterative to the needs that we currently have now but if you can speak to that thing thank you for that so we will start engaging our staff at the site this month and I will be going out this week and invite board members to join me because what we heard from our labor Partners was that they wanted a Administration and board members to be a part of those listening sessions and still we will start this month carry it out through the month of December continue in January and allow for the permanent superintendent Dr Lucas to join us and at the meetings I I want to share that we will be going through the the education facilities master plan and allowing our teachers are classified staff are management to break out into smaller groups so that they too can look at the blueprints and give us feedback we will provide a digital qr-code so they can drop their comments and we can cut them and bring it back to our Architects that we can make some modifications and so for me it's important that we recognize the request of I'm one of our staff our community requesting that they be a part of the process that that then we follow it through demonstrate how it's leading up to a revised facilities master plan overview and it will also lead up to a revised a list of what happens in Phase 1 so that pretty much speaks to house staff will address it a similar process will happen when your permanent superintendent dr. Lucas joined in January and that is that he will host our meetings during the day and after school to allow for our families to participate review the facilities master plan overview and through that qr-code be able to provide feedback and allow us to do missing being in that is too then consult with our Architects and prioritize what will happen in Phase 1 but again everyone is committed to the idea that it's a draft its interactive and we share a collective response identifying what will happen first and what happens next that I hear a strong desire as we heard earlier to really have a three-step plan and that is engagement board member staff engagement with parents where I'm board members can be a part of that and I'll we can make some modifications and then to also expand that independently selected oversight committee and I think that's important you may ask where in this current resident has it say that the current resolution really talks about bringing forward the election in March you will then see the draft of our next resolution that talks about what the composition of that Community oversight committee will look like and that's when we will break it down so that we can have greater participation in the oversight will update our bylaws so that we have more frequent reports here at the board meeting throughout the year and so I really see strong effort to have greater accountability and transparency with our community and our facilities need this much I need to move forward and turns of the rose of March overwhelming to November in terms of being able to capture the Matthew 5 in terms of being able to make sure that we are competitive with the folks that will be working in on our facilities and planning so I think you and Mister Reynolds and other consultants for all of this work and over the years were president thank you thank you I don't want to repeat with my board members have said so I'm going to try to say something different but at the same time I agree with that assessment of where my colleagues are at and I want to stay this bond is going to pass because every time that I talked to a parent or Community member they say we need to improve our schools it's going to take each of us to walk each of us to talk each of us to email each of us to talk to our neighbors about it and we cannot do it alone we I need the community to be with us and we will take every single step that we need to build the trust as has been outlined by our interim superintendent the second thing I wanted to mention is that we have more than $360 needs needs this doesn't even include our want and so in the summer this summer of 2024 I really hope that we can work on our schools having better drainage our schools having phones at work are schools having bathrooms that lock these are all needs urgently if we don't bring money into our district today and these needs will not get done in the summer in our students clear start school again the same way that they have done for the past 15 years because that's that's 15 years is every year that my kids were in the district and I would see our facilities the way that we would start right with things being at Hawk maintain in Spanish we call Mickey Mouse jobs this is the thing Mickey Mouse so we would show up then we say it another Mickey Mouse job that's what you get when you have a Spanish we can let them on the board the second third thing I want to say is that we found ourselves with L that brought Legacy experience a new experience and I'm really really grateful for the leadership right we had new consultants and old consultants and that's energy that we found and our committee was definitely something that was needed right we needed to learn from the past and we needed to infuse new energy and I'm going to take this point of privilege because we have been working on this for a year bringing in the Consultants of proving discuss and I want to acknowledge doctor Pauline's incredible achievement and just 40 days at ccusd the bear with me her leadership has been nothing short then transformative right Mike you and I have talked about it in her first or her brief 40 days dr. Pauleen let it successful feasibility Bond committee by coordinating or Bond call Tim's priority prioritizing key projects to add to the bond resolution aligning the master plan for the 2024 Bond doctor Pauline not only spearheaded this crucial Bond work at the same in time she also initiated a comprehensive communication plan emphasizing transparency in our facility maintenance projects including progress at the middle school in the high school with painting now looking at head I know we have you for another 30 days or 40 days I look forward to all the steps you outline today and I'm really excited I'm excited where to go to eat School site I did it last year in May and June of 2023 and I said I was going to do it this fall so bring it on dr.
