Linwood E. Howe Elementary Projects Overview

Summer 2017/2018 Projects (Active)

The Summer 2017 Projects include the following scope of work:

• Removal of Portion of DG Running Track/Replacement with Asphalt
  This project is to replace a portion of the decomposed granite track with asphalt for maintenance reasons.
• Marquees
  This project will be to add a new Digital Marquee at schools that do not currently have them.
• Public Announcement Upgrades
  This project is to add a campus wide PA system to keep everyone on campus informed.
• Hydration Stations
  This project is to add various Hydration Stations to the campus
• HVAC Project
  This project is to add new HVAC to the two-story classroom building.

Energy Conservation Program (Proposition 39) (Completed)

The Energy Conservation Program (Proposition 39) includes the following scope of work:

• Installation of new high efficiency HVAC units
• Upgrading of interior & exterior LED Lighting
• Installation of dual technology occupancy sensors
• Installation of smart programmable thermostats
• Integration of occupancy sensors
  

Phase I Projects (Completed)

The Phase I Projects includes the following scope of work:

• Exterior Painting
  The exterior of the school other than the brick walls will be painted.  This project is complete.
• New Playfields
  The existing grass playfield will be completely renovated and include new irrigation, drought tolerant natural grass sod will be planted on about two thirds of the area and synthetic turf on the remaining portion.  A decomposed granite track will be provided around the perimeter of the grass and turf.  This project is substantially complete.  The synthetic turf is available for use while the natural grass (sod) is under review for acceptance.
• New Playgrounds
  The playground improvement project at Linwood Howe Elementary School includes the installation of new playground surfaces and equipment for both kindergarten and elementary school children. The new play equipment will provide a number of age-appropriate activities including elevated platforms, slides and swings. Shade canopies will also be provided and will be integrated with the play equipment. New color-matching rubber play surfaces will also be installed to provide fall protection in compliance with current safety guidelines.  This project is complete.
• New Bicycle & Skateboard Racks
  This project includes the installation of new bicycle and skateboard racks throughout the campus and has been completed.
• Video Surveillance
  Conduit, cable and video surveillance cameras will be installed campus wide.  This project is complete.
• Replace 2nd Floor Deck Waterproofing
  The existing deteriorated exterior decks at the second story of the newer two story building will have a new waterproof surface installed.  This project is complete.
