westside in the Culver City area for 25 years and have breaking with the edible companies lot of environmental issues and do a lot of work with nonprofits and very interested in this cause and thank Thank you Chanel if you want meet yourself anyone else want to say hello but I miss and I apologize if I did just end it yourself and say hello does Jeff have a son that has a senior at CCMS 8th grade ccmsi liaison so for CCMS excellent thank you so much so anyone else last chance I'm Dory and Davis I'm the liaison to El Marino and the head of the El Marino school garden and I'm really happy to be here wonderful all right we'll get Reddit I'm going to share my screen for a second before we introduce our guest speaker I do apologize to me give me one second to move these things around we go thank you for joining we this is our agenda for those that will remain after the presentation after the guest speaker will have the coordinators update we have students updating us with their pod text and we have other events like Earth best week we've moved Along on some of this and some subcommittees that we've created so if you can stick around afterwards but I wanted to introduce you stand for some reason my the document close before so used I think I'm just going to pass it along to you you're the director of communications for the ocean clean up in here to present the Interceptor know that you introduced yourself thank you thanks awesome dream and thanks for having me great to see such a big turnout for tonight's at tonight that's from my perspective I'm talk from the East Coast Sunday I do have a slide deck if you could allow me to share my screen then I can take a pic you also. are share my screen Aireco andorian I'm sorry we missed you but thank you for joining does this work can you see my screen sundry and not yet know if you want to try again I will try again in time as indicated on the director of communications for the ocean cleanup we are a not-for-profit organization based in the Netherlands and in the United States as a 501 c 3 and our objective is to develop Technologies developing skills Technologies to rid the world's oceans of plastic doing something not right it should work this is working out yet if I going to presentation work cuz I work too it works great we see your screen now so thank you for having me here on and I have been in touch a couple of times over the past two weeks months already and it's wonderful to be able to to give you a rundown of what we are planning to do in by the creek with the ocean cleanup so I'll give you a prevent reduction but first of all we're talking about an Interceptor and there's no better way I think to tell you what an Interceptor is this little video that I have where people from our organization tell the story now I hope that the sound is working if you want to share the link I can try to put it up also sundering you made a remark so you didn't have any sound no we don't have a video playing we just have your PowerPoint presentation and maybe we need to go into the Google or where your you're I'll share the link to the to the video it's basically explaining what an Interceptor is really very very short an Interceptor is using the current of the of the River or the creek and which it's located at 6 to bring the plastic down to a barrier that leads the trash into a conveyor belt that then dump the trash into dinosaurs that are placed on a barge and then the barge can be take a note like a cassettes going to be taken out of the Interceptor and take him to shore for Frankie it's solar powered and it's kind of / 824 pretty much autonomously need some maintenance of course from time to time Some Lovin oil but it's pretty much all Thomas machine I just was a kind of funny introduction with a lot of different accents we have people from I think 30 countries working for the ocean cleanup so it's always the nice combination of different language interpretation to English anyway this is this is me and Alice was a project manager and Laura already introduced herself who's working for us locally in LA and helping us to navigate from are we are a said item based on the East Coast the rest of the team is working from Rotterdam in the Netherlands and that's a 9 hour time difference and also quite a cultural distance to farm so we are we are very happy to have some local support as well on the top left-hand corner of the first page for now there you go yet I was on this one isn't there we go perfect what is going wrong I thought I said it here you see me signing the memorandum of understanding with Janet on the den supervisor of Awesome The District to go to what's a representative from the Dutch government and I'm all confused sorry for. Public Works Estrella thanks for helping me out there and a group of us and DC where we did some government ugly work as well before we launched our ocean system for the first time from San Francisco in 2018 but here we are to talk about the Interceptor and the project in biona Creek according to our models on a date available some 60,000 pounds of plastic flows through by owner Creek into the Pacific and therefore we identified the as a potential project in our attempts to cover the plastic influx into the ocean part of rr1000 of ever attempt around the world we sign this contract to to start this project in November 2019 the ocean cleanup is an organization based in the Netherlands founded by slots in 2013 when he was only 18 years old and has a mission to develop and scale technology strip the world's oceans of plastic with the pretty strong ambition to remove 90% of all floating plastic by 2040 and in order to be able to do that it's clear from our our research and remodeling that you need to work on two ends of the equation you need to remove the plastic it's already out there the Legacy plastic as we call it which is still increasing exponentially in the 5 gyres around the ocean where accumulation is taking place but you also have to stop the influx closed stop on the reduce the amount of plastic that is floating in if you want to clean up something that is growing exponentially you really have to do something about the about the influx and that's what we call our two-pronged approach so we both attacks the Legacy pollution and we have developed technology to prevent plastic from getting into the ocean in the first place close up. that leads to our 1000 Riverside initiative which is based on our Research indicates that one thousand rivers around the world which is about 1% of all Rivers is responsible for 80% of the plastic flux into the ocean and we have this model we've made this small accessible on our website there's an interactive met with what you see on screen prints screen prints here a little white where the rats call Rhonda thoughts are the top 1000 playlist are you can you can approach this sort of outside but all the all all share the bed back by Centurion so you can you can see all the links that are in there so do a lot of research again 1000 Rivers 80% of global annual emissions into the ocean on. Is it between .8 and 2.7 million metric tons every year I where we also find that the small Urban rivers are the most polluting there was an earlier model published by a German research group in 20 18 that had a list that showed up about 10 Rivers the top 10 Rivers those were the obvious ones occurring. Model would be the source of 90% should have had the the Amazon and the Yangtze River and the Nile all listed in. Top 10 however we we we find the model together with the LIE author of that paper and came to the conclusion that it is probably a slightly different about a different profile of river is actually the most expensive one for ocean pollution pollution so it's really about understanding the problem we work together with research institutions and in the locations where we where we deploy we do a lot of field research that will slow down quite a bit about two years of shoot me and her son but we're picking up again but we we did have our network with local universities in various countries... We continue to provide what they done well depend on Aquos shutting everything down we also will be using our AI train camera systems in a unit rate which we use to 24/7 automatically different shade in the trash that we see floating on the river under a bridge and use that as our product generation model so what I have developed is a family of of solutions because of the Interceptor Solutions on the top right-hand corner you see the Interceptor original that is the approach that we're going to a unit Creek but we also have our own barrier systems intercept the barriers we we have an Interceptor $10 which is sort of a mobile a conveyor belt system. Can most trash from behind a barrier where there is no no no space for The Intercept original that's quite a big quite a bit contraction and pain in the lower right-hand corner dentist trust funds which which is an application for very fast running mantegna's type of current High current speed as Freddy a very binary solution that you can imagine that will need a ground equipment when the water is gone to to clean it up what is a computer-generated image of the Interceptor in Bayonne you see two barriers a little bit thin on the on the image here to barriers from the shore leading towards the conveyor belt that's at that's located in the in the in the center of the 3 p.m. I got about 60,000 more than 6,000 pounds of plastic and trash going down to the creek per year we have these agreements to do a two-year pilots and Brianna Creech where Department of Public Works is the operator the intention is to keep the Interceptor in the creek for 2 years as a pilot and check if this is lotion that is working for LA talk to you in public works the model that we're using is hears the ocean cleanup we are funded by private donors and some corporate sponsorships to use that to manufactory are machines with a company called mhd my daughter company of konecrane in Malaysia we work with him variety of of mandatory to to actually be able to do what we're doing you're going to just put something in somebody's River we need an operator which is Public Works another County and a waste management operator which will also be a public public works for a project anybody on a creek as I briefly indicated the project for two years which is to storm season which is defined as October to April you probably know better than that I do wear your swimsuits in this but that is the definition according to the contract and yes a minimum performance criteria that are used to determine whether or not the Interceptor is considered to be a solid solution if so after two seasons we will hand over the Interceptor to LA County free of charge if not we will retain ownership of the interceptor and remove it to another location within 5 months these are the performance criteria reading all of them it will be in the and the fact that I will love that I will share later importance is that a doesn't create any disturbances that there is no interference with with the operations on the flood control purposes of of the creek but also no adverse environmental effects Outlet socket more about that later so the interceptors original little bit more about the pig Knology it's got them aren't designed so there's two floors and as I said they're sort of a type of barge in there a carries the dumpsters the barriers concentrate the debris and Lead it towards the most imperceptible where there is a conveyor belt 6 on Water by 36 takes it up to a shuttle which is Distributing the trash over the five dumpster 6th dumpster is that are in the barge needs to be distributed because otherwise the barge that is floating that's going to tip carefully Distributing the the weights of the waste over the different dumpsters until it's full and it will get a signal to Shore and will be taking notes. You empty The Container Store dumpster on shore it's solar powered very quiet more questions if you have them over here the location so we are off stream Downstream from Pacific Avenue Bridge with 69 Creek coin the dotted line is the beer out of barrier straight lines are anchor chains and the anchoring is on the Jetties going to the next one which shows the operations so the blue racks Thunder under the bridge is the Interceptor and under the blue Thin Blue Line is the trajectory of the barch when the dumpsters are full to pick 3 of floating side in Marina del Rey and this is what it what it will look like from from Shore computer-generated image there's no Interceptor yet whole lot of beef are close to the actual situation which brings me to my last light quickly running down where are we in February 2002 are still sick 60000 lb of trash going down in the creek after two years we have all necessary necessary permits in place so we can start working from October 2020 to Which Wich Define the first of the Goosebumps season shipping for the Interceptor which has been constructed in Malaysia has been booked there's no set date for rival yet but it will be summer in the second quarter in April Public Works will start with D construction of the more importance in the creek or sweat so money that has gone into this already from both the county and from the ocean cleanup and again it's a part of the successful leave the Interceptor behind and handed over to Public Works free of charge that was my presentation show my face again thank you so much used I went to open it up to our members and friends here to ask any questions that you may have if you want to use the little pens in the reactions Fox there I guess this is James thank you for the presentation I just got one question what is the expected life cycle of the life cycle lesson when it when it is and of and of use and needs to be taken down yeah well we have never reach the end of life of an Interceptor yet the oldest machine is 4 years old I have to be careful we don't we don't have a warranty form that states states how long they will run but they are there quite sturdy I would say 15 years with the should be should be very doable that's impressive thank you I appreciate that I mean a lot of our community were sensitive bye in a creek and all the trash that runs down there we use it recreationally but one of our schools runs along the creek in the middle school and it's a it's the central part to our everyday living one way or another getting to the schools are from the school so we care about the creek and and addressing the trash issue that is uncontrollable in when those first strength and flushes so this this brings a solution I think to a region this is not only for Culver City or City of Vallejo Marina. This is for our region and it makes it essential that it you know be here as part of the solution of addressing this problem because it's really this is all when one part of what we need to do we need the educational side we need you know too when you legislation we need we need to this multifaceted problem needs multi-faceted solution so this is only one part but it's a really cool Innovative part and we're very excited to have this in our region anyone have any questions or comments to people raise their hands that's how come I can't see you whether you're on thank you y'all stopping following this technology since it actually came out in in Holland I have a question 50% of all of the world comes down river so to speak in the van so that it's going to be so violent and then so high speed in the water so that overflow the barriers or is it that the barrier is 3 ft so you probably have two and a half feet below water so you can still have some more plastic that will then flow under attack primarily where we will lose the 50% if you don't answer your question that's that's that's a really good one we don't know exactly yet we have not worked with current speed that we expect to encounter in Buena Creek which is one of the reasons I really call conservative in our estimation cr12 current gets really really rough there could be both Under and Over popping so if the pressure of the water built up so much that there what of a wave that is going over the barrier that will take some of the trash our Engineers have done quite expensive calculations I do believe that our approach should be working pretty well turn on the under extreme conditions but because we have not been able to test that so for us the two years are also putting our technology to the test and it pretty extreme conditions there was a question for Michelle why or how do you deserve the Interceptor was going from from a couple of sides at it's a known hotspot off of plastic from date of Public Works but also for my model at indicating that the being a creep is a serious contributor to the to the plastic pollution in the ocean but for us Engineers it was also really a test case for public works at is checking whether or not this technology is providing what is not found with the  that are currently being used up need to be released of the storm surge what do I say would break so I hope that gets a little bit of perspective on the 50% we definitely hope there will be will be better but we need it to have a number that become use us. as a fair judge judgment for aetherium to decide whether or not it should stay or go a kid Alex thanks for the great presentation that's just makes incense and it's very exciting on it sounds like you're pretty far along in the process is that right and if regardless of where you are how can the city help Advance this to the band yeah thank you you're far in the process I think and several stages what I didn't mention is Debbie currently have five interceptors original in operation 2 in Malaysia one in Indonesia one in the Dominican public and one of your Nam so this will be the sixth intercept original we also have a barriers and Fender system integration in Jamaica and we have a trust fund Trans in under construction in what's a mile on so that is where we are in terms of the development of the technology in addition to that we we have just announced today that we have removed 55 metric tons of plastic from the oceans with erosions technology which is still as a base system which is not much are as big as we want them to be but still getting very good indication snuggle. We are on the right track to to also make a serious done tune-up problem in biona Creek Asad one of the big hurdles to take was the permitting so we we have finalized all the drama thing work the next the next turn it's much more Technical and Logistics that's its Public Works roll to to fix the anchoring they will start working on that in April and expect to be done at the end of September so earlier we will be able to transfer the Interceptor from its its storage place it will be it will be hosted by the Coast Guard and the port of LA Asher arrival in LA and before it can be deployed in in Vienna Creek so I hope it gets a little bit of a few is that the one bit about how can how can we help what we would be really where we really are house already but that's the reason to to jump in this in this presentation again is as support from from people along the creek we are trying to reach out to stakeholders reconsider you all stakeholders in Culver City of stakeholder in this as well even though we're down in Marina del Rey so it's it's ready. We we we think it's good to have a clear balance between our plans but also enthusiasm from the people to to who we are bringing this so that is that is really weird. We've been asked also by Public Works to tell her story as much as weekend that sounds so so give Public Works support than what they're going to do and they will be the divisible operators off this thing so that's that's why would I ask you all to do tell the story preferably if you like it that loudly La city councilman Michael when did that recently and that is super helpful obviously and in others Grassroots letters still has some sort of technical steps that need to get funded and things like that even though we're in a very good position but there are small small number of neighbors who you know hasn't raised some questions and so it just making sure that this happens is still is still a key and so important so Craig can I see Greg has his hand up for a while okay Greg's you and it say I can't see everyone on the same screen so go ahead and I see shirt at PowerPoint. So maybe video kids to help them understand what this project is your why we're doing it and to get in there can be no understanding it's so close that I'm sure alive our kids are going to see it I could even get even organize some kind of visit on a Saturday or something like that once it's operational I love that it we have a we have a pretty extensive YouTube channel I'm I'm I'm going to a link to that video that I wanted to play in the in the chat but Craig if you if you want something for school gets I would I would go there we have a huge almost to Big I think but there is a search function on it so use that as you see fit but certainly the YouTube is very rich I have to say is a well-structured but actually you have to tell me what or not I was right that statement but that is definitely try to do trying to tell her story in different ways different angles do we have a podcast but it's more like a behind-the-scenes on on what is all happening in the ocean cleanup so that's more for the deeper fence I would say we have free promo on Instagram on face Productions from Twitter for the older audiences on LinkedIn so we try to be very proud that we were born on Facebook and has been extreme yeah fortunate and in the timing of this initiative coming together with the real growth of our Facebook and front crowdfunding that came with it so now there's a lot of straight to be from there thank you I'll Craig and then kyleen folks that are worried about the visual my parents and I can tell I love this project and I can can not only is that attractive but in reality when it's floating on the water that it won't be that busy call above the walls of the channel there I'm wondering if you could have some sort of floating barge or something like that with slides on it that show the height just like they do around real estate developments to show what a house roof line might appear how it might appear and the bulk I would think something like that might help persuade the folks who are imagining this is going to be worse than it really is and who can't quite assimilate the computer simulation so it's just thinking something like that might help and I just I just would be very disappointed if the small handful of people can interfere with this thank you yeah good point Craig thank you Carlene quickly respond I think Craig that was a great great suggestion I will I will definitely check with our computer guys if they think they can be presented in an angle that is doing benefit to what you just said thank you for that suggestion actually thinking of something floating on the water turbine environment and they're worried and although you know this is a boat and it is in the marina so you know I don't know how that doesn't work for them but so what's happening is there a few Residence Inn Plaza that have contested in it managed to delay this project and that's why it's really important that we support this project by sending letters and I left Holly Mitchell's email in the chat box and it can be the simplest of emails and you know if you have kids maybe it comes from them as well I'm she's listening on their the office is very supportive of this project but she just got a hold of it with within her new district and so I think the more the community speaks up on this the better for for the SM this project a Carlene yeah I just wanted to add that you have such an amazing story to tell here and it's a visual story and it's and it's a story that is Meaningful to so many people and I now that you want to get community support and Grassroots support and I'm wondering how you're utilizing the media to help support and tell your story you know and it doesn't social media but you know the traditional broadcast media and print media you know I just imagined so many Incredibles three angles year did to be able to share this and get some friendly environmental of reporters and educational quarters and so many other have to stop in and get some good coverage to help build that support yeah thank you I could actually in two weeks I will be in in La myself among other things to to be as well the reporters with the traditional media and hopefully start some attention we will start building the excitement of the Interceptor coming when we have the shipment date and when when the transport is going to start from Malaysia to California and I will definitely try to to get some some traction but local media if printed or television to watch and become part of thoughts of telling that story to the local community Thank You Caroline and then we'll wrap up cuz we have the rest of our meeting to do but go ahead it's exciting that charges are going to the ocean like in the water flows very well but some other kind of already underneath so I was just wondering how deep it does so it's it's not reaching all the way to the bottom plastic that's that things will not be will not be interested but that also doesn't travel as well over the over the the floor of the of the creek so this in our experience is the most effective and most efficient way to to deal with if you play Nick Lowe's the creek if it also have I couldn't do this without Caroline by the way very grateful for her work with me we presented to the school board a couple weeks ago and it was received great back and support and ideas and so we are trying to integrate them and what we're doing with the Culver City Education Foundation we applied for a rotary Community grants or 10K to help finish our ccusd Green video project we're still looking for funding for that and so we will know at the end of this month if we received that this is our second Grant application for this purpose so fingers crossed we met with Ashley from recycles to riches a local nonprofit and looking to see if we can partner with them and close the on some of the different products and it's more gearing towards conscious consumer and campaign thing if we can work with them for the past week so we're in discussions there we we are connecting with the other coordinators from the different school districts in Santa Barbara and Santa monica-malibu we are meeting with Long Beach and I just invited city of l a l a u s to come to our next meeting and it's been very rewarding we exchange ideas and so we can reinforce our programs and really share our resources and if we can not reinvent the wheel when when we leave one of the district has already worked on something we are creating a new subcommittee around cafeteria and food and said that our next meeting is our first meeting is on Thursday February 24th at 4 to 5 p.m. so if you'd like to join this subcommittee meeting will be working on in our discussions around food and also are plastic reduction champagne if you want to let us know in the chat box and we'll add you to that subcommittee so we've been working on getting all of our utility bills online has not been an easy process but we are there and we have done electricity water and gas and now we're able to compare are the last year's and Caroline's really good at this Gathering all the information and with the results that we will share with you at some point we don't have them yet but we're looking into our this text that at least on the energy side that we've been hanging that our school district is exempt from and so we may be able to recover quite a bit of money which might be able to help get a cat to stay nobility coordinator in place on a full-time basis we met with the SoCal Ren Regional energy Network through the energy Coalition and there may be an opportunity there that it's a free service that they provide our school district and so there's a lot of opportunities to look at all like more large-scale and operational so we're going to talk to the head of Business Services about that soon we ordered all the additional bins that the different schools they gave us recently and so those are on their way I'll let you know the details on especially our Liaisons we're still waiting for the three colored liners they have been ordered there's some backorder issues and we don't have a delivery date yet but we're hoping to do all of the custodian once we have that in place we also received our two free water filling stations from West Basin and we are excited that it's Lie by Jonas and then how that received those and it looks like the school district is now looking to replace all of the water fountains with water filling station in all of our schools and still we are in Des with that and one of one of the details that I wanted them to be reminded of is that not every student had or staff has a water and so that it's probably a good idea to keep the traditional water fountain system in place code we will not have covid our whole lives and those exist in airports and another place has a night right now they're condemned and I think it's been brought up by one of our board members also that we need to give access to water to our community and make sure that they're working and that I have more station so I think this is a priority it's it's part of the health and well-being of our ever student staff and teachers so maybe we can adjust that in and our subcommittee meeting next week I'm not sure if that is the same project but it doesn't even have any comments or questions at this point but any of this really I sorry we had a we had a question earlier about the food stamp committee and also about the water Filling Station the water stations and I want to be clear that likes the water bottle filling stations are not condemned just be announced the mouthpieces so so you'd like to go back and sure that at some point they get serviced and put back into it in to correct correct filling stations works it's the water fountain part the one with the the little finger the traditional water fountains that are have been condemned or don't work and so they're looking at replacing those but I think it's still important to have those manual ones because not all students have water bottles were also looking into having a water bottle distribution event through the school district so that's something we're talking about I can't put my question instead I mean cuz we've tried to raise our hands before but when you're talking about the food subcommittee it's only about the ccusd provided to write the cafeteria yeah the kapiti have provided all right any a crank yes thank you Sandra and I just wanted to let you know I attend every single west facing medium so I'm very familiar with the Hydration Stations and they have a lot of different models but most many of the ones I've seen still have those manual function so it includes bottle refilling function with the normal water else here that I didn't introduce themselves earlier Jaime newest Jamie I'm from Farragut I'm on the sustainability committee there with some Urban Oasis okay moving along so let's see I'm not sure that we have all of the students here but we wanted to give you an update grades of green campaign and our student Adriel Mar he plans to go before city council to urge them to change the city's zoning laws and complete streets to create a more sustainable City kudos to a drill I've been not invasive green for the last few years with very original projects the green New Deal we've met with some the high school clubs that are leading this effort and as we get closer to them presenting it to the boards and they're still trying to connect with the superintendent on the last details but we hope that they will be presenting and if if they do we want to go support at the council at the council meeting so the board meeting so I'll keep you appraised of that when that comes around and they also in the meantime are looking in the West Basin Turf replacement rebate so we're helping with that helping them with that the human rights clubs is there really are you part of that or is there any student from any of those sorry I'm not a part of that I sorry yeah there's only a mess LOL but the human rights Club they would like to get our school district on 100% renewable energy we only have one set of three schools that were left off otherwise other all of them are at 100 we requested last year that this campus Olinda campus put back and it turns out there was a big mess with a c e and the CPA and so we are back at 36% starting in January of this year and we're going to work with the students to encourage the school district to go 100% with these three school so that's in progress and then maybe Ava I will stop sharing my screen if you want to take rings and let us know about your amazing city project sure so I mean Adventures it at the past couple of ESC meetings but we're getting closer to April and where to distribute the city's industrial compost on maybe sometime around Earth week to all the local residents I just walked with Sandra and around the campus unlost Tuesday and we've finally found a location that will hopefully work for the compost within the Farragut and middle school parking lot so yeah. We're trying to solidify that I'm getting a check on check with the city to finalize the date and the plans but yes I'm trying to find seedlings and seeds as well to distribute do you need any assistance with that. Craig did you have your hand up for a sec yeah it's a general comment about a new state bill that was introduced that regard schools and this may not be the right time I thought you were Senator Anthony portantino no has introduced SB 12:55 it is not published yet he just introduced it today which is a dishwasher grant program for Waste reductions in Haiti 12 schools and community colleges and this is going to provide I believe around $40,000 per school for dishwashing equipment that's so your help the schools go from sing used items to reusables I don't I don't have all the details of the bill but I thought I'd pass it on this is really good news it's it's helping to schools and if we can go to reusable items instead of disposable it's going to make a huge difference so it's hot off the presses so I thought I'd let you know how to do this in the different schools and obviously cost and then there's a plumbing and we were thinking maybe we could suggest to it West Basin that they have this type of Grant available also but this is even better so you know maybe I missed it and you said that borough of the bill I have it I have a 12:55 by Anthony portantino and Just Energy there is a new waste reduction regulation in Culver City that requires all restaurants or food establishments to have reusables for dine-in customers and that starts next year in January so and the school district is needs to comply with that so it's kind of a big deal that we look into how to do this properly at you know ideally for our school district me we try it a pilot level maybe with one of the elementary schools where it's maybe more manageable or and start with utensils or start small because there is also a space issue it's not just having the money to add the dishwasher so there's a lot of considerations and each school has to be treated differently and so but this is really good news thanks for sharing Craig any other comments or ideas will be sharing this offline so for our members will be working on on this really sorry it's definitely still one of the things that I mentioned in the chat in the reason why I was asking about the food subcommittee is because one of the things that I know. of concern is some of the school site School stores so I don't know I don't know if every School site Le Rihanna has a school store they have like cats and other things too to buy usually they're all like individually packaged or I'm sure they're he's across the School site and so what and one of the concerns that I have is that it generates a lot, and it usually plastic because there's not a whole lot of Bejeweled rapper things that are across keeper they also have like he shoes with tie and stuff like that and generally they're not like super healthy grow like I'm wondering whether or not there's anybody else too kind of wants to provide an end in the past this is been something that's kind of been sacred to the ppfa because the problem is is that exaggerate a lot of pain, so like and it supposed to be it supposed to be like at the chairpersons you know discretion of like what the weather choose in order to create the fast life scenarios make the most money they have the best market and and so like I'm wondering if anybody else is also interested in this is one of those things this is the perfect topic subcommittee cuz if it requires more conversation I think deeper and M Julie Garcia put a comment in there that might help also address your question but yeah go ahead sorry a lot of people don't like to talk about this because it is a big job for that chair person at ppsa at school site to take on and make sure it stop make sure like this making money but he asked for instance every time they are open just a basic make about $300 a day and its funding a lot of PCS a supported a program at the school sites to it's something that people are not you know really willing to touch in terms of like oh you know it's going to you know don't make it more difficult for them to make make the money is also going to make it more difficult to provide or or think about Alternatives but in some parents they just won't down here won't be associated with it because of either it's not healthy snack or it generates a lot of trash or whatever reason they just they're just say I'm going to turn a blind eye so if anybody wants to end I know the food subcommittee is separate because that is not like those are two totally different things you don't know we're just kicking this subcommittee off it can be what we want and we can discuss you know food in general at the school so but I I agreed let's let some if it can you make it next week I'm going to have to take a look at the time yeah that'd be great anyone else I've been thinking about this a lot cuz I'm also I'm a Communications coordinator but that's something I thought about that there's so much trash and it's all just like sugar foods and you know it's just jumped it and I mean it's great that it makes money and that's good but I agree I think there should be some kind of like Cessna what we can do to make a Greener I'm happy to help out in whatever way I can give support some of these and around food and I I think they're all related like Julie every part of what we do in the district so alright see we Caroline do you want to talk about this you're my meanest acute events that we could hear there is an art contest I think it's poor student like from 5 to 12 and due date on March 18th I will share the link that's here I guess in the in the minutes so I can put it in there and follow-up email I guess and then in terms of household hazardous events there's one coming up in Marina del Rey be Saturday and then there's one in Culver City on March 26th and another one that's a waste recycling and paper shredding on May 7th so that on your calendar if you have things to discard and just a quick reminder of what household hazardous waste is it's called Universal ways to include Z-Wave switch or computers and phones but also paint and chemicals a chemical that has caution or flammable on the back of it that's considered hazardous waste paints if your paint charges entirely empty you can put it in the recycling bin otherwise it is considered hazardous waste bulbs and batteries and I think that kind of covers it our next meeting I cannot believe we only have three more meetings but that is the reality of this this says School you're flying by March 17th is the next one and we'll have a do in Richards he's a local parents and an anti-racist speaker he came to us last year he's amazing he has he does conferences around the world on this topic and if you haven't seen it already has a TED Talk and it's it's worth Caroline if you can find it and put it in
