Superintendent's Message

Dear Culver City Unified School District Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and deep appreciation that I write to you as the new Superintendent of Culver City Unified School District. This year, I am beginning my 30th year in education and I remain tenaciously committed to the success of ALL of our students.

Over the past few days, I have had the privilege of meeting some of our employees in our amazing school district. My preliminary reaction confirms what many already know: CCUSD is a special place, full of energy, excellence, and a strong commitment to student success. The warm welcomes I’ve received are a reflection of the caring and inclusive spirit that defines our community. I also visited with our students at their summer programs at Culver City Middle School and Culver City High school! Our students are amazing! I look forward to visiting all of schools and sites over the next few weeks.

As I begin this important work, my top priority is to listen and learn. I am committed to engaging with all members of our school community—students, families, educators, staff, and partners—to understand our collective hopes, celebrate what’s working, and identify areas where we can grow. Over the coming months, I will be implementing a 100-day entry plan that focuses on building relationships, learning our district’s strengths and challenges, and ensuring that our resources are aligned to support student achievement and well-being. I know we have some challenges ahead with our budget, but together we will get through this for the benefit of our students and community. Working together with the city will also be a strong priority of mine.

I am inspired by the dedication I’ve already seen from our hardworking staff, committed Board of Education, and of course, our amazing students. Together, we have a shared responsibility to ensure every student feels valued, challenged, and prepared for a future full of possibility. I believe in the power of collaboration and transparent communication, and I am excited to begin this journey with you.

I am thankful to the Board of Education for providing me the opportunity to serve as your Superintendent and build a future together with our community. I look forward to working alongside you to continue building a school system that reflects the excellence, diversity, and innovation that Culver City is known for.

Estimada Comunidad del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Culver City,

Es con gran entusiasmo y profundo agradecimiento que les escribo hoy como el nuevo Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Culver City.  Este año, comenzare mi 30° año en educación y permanezco firmemente comprometido al éxito de TODOS nuestros estudiantes.

Durante los últimos días, he tenido el privilegio de reunirme con algunos de nuestros empleados de nuestro maravilloso distrito escolar. Mi primera reacción confirma lo que muchos ya saben:  CCUSD es un lugar especial, lleno de energía, excelencia, y un fuerte compromiso al éxito estudiantil.  La bienvenida calurosa que he recibido es una reflexión del cariño y espíritu de inclusividad que defina nuestra comunidad.  ¡También visite a nuestros estudiantes en sus programas de verano en la Escuela Intermedia de Culver City y la Escuela Preparatoria de Culver City! ¡Nuestros estudiantes son increíbles!  Estoy deseoso de visitar a todas las escuelas y sitios durante las próximas semanas.

A medida que comienzo este trabajo tan importante, mi principal prioridad es de escuchar y aprender.  Estoy comprometido a convivir y trabajar con todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad escolar-estudiantes, familias, educadores, personal, y socios-para entender nuestros deseos colectivos, celebrar lo que está funcionando, e identificar áreas donde necesitamos crecer.  Dentro de los próximos meses, estaré implementando un plan de 100 días de entrada el cual se centra en formar relaciones, aprender sobre las fuerzas y desafíos de nuestro distrito, y asegurar que nuestros recursos estén alineados para apoyar el rendimiento y el bienestar estudiantil.  Yo entiendo que témenos algunos desafíos por delante con nuestro presupuesto, pero juntos podremos superar esto para el beneficio de nuestros estudiantes y comunidad.  Trabajando junto con la ciudad también será una prioridad importante para mí.

Estoy inspirado por la dedicación que ya he visto de parte de nuestro personal trabajador, un Consejo Directivo comprometido y por supuesto, nuestros maravillosos estudiantes.  Juntos, compartimos la responsabilidad de asegurar que cada estudiante se sienta valorado, desafiado, y preparado para un futuro lleno de posibilidades.  Credo en el poder de la colaboración y la comunicación transparente, y estoy muy emocionado por comenzar este recorrido con ustedes.

Le doy las gracias al Consejo Directivo de Educación por brindarme la oportunidad de servir como su Superintendente y construir un futuro juntos con nuestra comunidad.  Deseo con gusto trabajar junto a ustedes para continuar formando un sistema escolar que refleje la excelencia, la diversidad y la innovación que la Ciudad de Culver City es caracterizada por ser.
