one of the things I would like to do is to take on challenges as I said before so the opportunity to come here and bring the work that I've done the experiences that I have it is something that I'm really looking forward to the ground running July 24th when I start before that I also want to reach out and get to know the teachers and sound at my but you know before it begins in order to make sure they were all taking and getting ready to start and I look forward to the work that we are starting at 3 working in the dual-language school but it's also good more than just a dual-language school because you have amazing English program along with the dual-language program they're so fun park we went to think I said all along and all my interviews and conversations is that it's one is love I am what are the words that we're going to do is to make sure that we all speak the same language and that's the front wrist and the much now we're going to Barnes Barnes funeral chords you know I'd like I didn't respond currently going on at CCMS is the color bottle with your forms about last board meeting animals before that and it seemed very successful when the second week so far and you see a lot of participation when you if you can tell that there's a theme going on every day related to sports like today was college sports and we have surpassed our goal of $40,000 and created a new goal of $60,000 and its go by Friday there will be a Administration versus counselor Lewis sync battle you can call me at lunch he love to see you also we're almost sold out of Magic Mountain tickets for the next year Council it's basically a group of students that are going to be an  but they are like I want to help the school and will be meeting every so often at woman and will be helping ASD so we don't have as much full of  shall more Panther pride and that's it oh also tomorrow is astrocamp so I know if you wanted to know that that's going to be greatly high schools actually is Andrea Andrea my name is Andre and I'm the vice president for next year so I'm getting into Edwin today some things have been going on at Quincy High School we just have prom recently as I was the science center it was under the Endeavor beautiful night many people enjoyed themselves we also have a powder puff game on June 1st for them to be that I'm familiar with what that mean it's basically a football game but girls only so yeah you're invited to come it's at the high school field at 6 p.m. on June 1st that same night we're having a phone died at recital and that means it's basically a concert that originated made it in Spain a while ago so let me know one of our clubs at her school has been working very hard to put this on but it should be a lovely night lots of family and friends will be coming and it'll be $5 but all the proceeds will St Jude's Children's Hospital and we also have our senior projects going on basically projects that didn't have to do before they graduate and they're supposed to identify like a problem going on with Community or like Nationwide and is supposed to come up with a solution to it or it ways to improve with currently going on as the other than being presented currently and they've been going on for like a month or so most products have been over but many of our students have gone to CIF finals and really hotter than a TPA is having a job at Dolla concert which means that all of the departments will be coming together to Showcase their talents it'll be on June 2nd at the Kirk Douglas theater really excited for that it's a great opportunity for us to not only fundraise but also be able to use the wonderful stage that we have right there at least we have graduation on June 15th I'm sure most of the seniors are very excited for that but yeah everyone is welcome to come. activate theater they perform as a final and then on Nexus of Clover Park technical support day since I scored really have a grassy area or place what thing we're doing that on Friday from 11 to 12:50 engage in discussion about it because it's not attend I appreciate the first Linda Carpenter Jack now hello my name is Linda Carpenter and it's very clear teacher at El Rincon I felt compelled to come here tonight after our school was asked to bad and additional special day class for the new school year we love our special day student that don't make fun however I think sure you are aware we already have 3 ft C-Class rooms on campus possibly having a Ford that CC class on our campuses not the problem however the true problem is there are other schools in artist 0 SPC classes this is really very hard to believe why do families with special-needs with students with special needs have to go to school a school or homeschool you tell me they're already dealing with stress of having a special needs child and our district should be doing everything they can to meet the needs of each and every one of our student no matter what their needs maybe it feels like the other schools that do not have sec Clapton are discriminating against special needs student Edition General Ed teachers at the schools with MPC classes for special needs students that are mainstream classrooms from medium science on a daily basis it takes a lot of extra planning and strategizing in order to meet all the modifications for each of these Student Health at the same time it also increases our class I do why is it okay with the district that these teachers get paid play the same amount as the teachers at the schools that do not have sec crosses the district has informed us that all the schools and ccusd will eventually have the best way to help the students do not I'm sorry the best way to help the schools that currently do not have sec profit get ready for full inclusion to have special day classes at every site now 6. all takes us all means we should all embrace our special needs students and give them every opportunity to be successful including allowing them to go to their home school just like their father neighboring classmates it is every school in the Culver City Unified School District to stop turning away special needs students and stud support them by offering special day classes at every school in the district Lauren Halo by Chris Miller good evening members of the board I am orange I, parents at El Rincon Elementary and thank you for the opportunity to speak to you this evening I'm going to speak candidly because I know that we are all here to serve Mercedes student equally I know the people United in common cause can speak directly with one another we heard from both the equity committee and concerned special ed parents and teachers at the last school board meeting highlight is an issue this issue face head-on or lack of true equity and inclusion we talk privately about how were the fourth most diverse District in the nation but that dude versity does not necessarily mean inclusion diversity is empty when was segregation each of our school should have Ashley needs students giving students attend their home-schooled and be close to their peers neighbor and communities and I don't need me and I don't mean we need more special day classes though if that's the first step towards full inclusion I will support I mean we need integration of special needs students in Argenta classrooms this is the model in most of the country ccusd needs to catch up my desire to have special needs students in gen ed class is the parents of the third grade any kindergartener I want my children to enjoy the benefits of integrated classroom as we all know studies show that all students do better in integrated classroom my second goal for this district is altruistic as a member of this Unified School District I also want to are other elementary schools to benefit from the same ethnic educational need diversity and economic diversity we have until refund the world is a diverse place and I'll children deserve the chance to learn and play alongside kids from different background walks of life students also deserve to feel welcomed and included at any and all of our campuses regardless of their special needs ethnicity or families income lastly Oliver Elementary students deserve the same parameters for their education teachers which we thankful we have many many of in this District strong administrators which we also had and small class sizes unfortunately as we know there are members of our community don't share their desire for inclusion I've heard from them myself these people are happy to maintain the status quo of some schools driving while others struggle or feel ignored these people guards their children's education selfishly and without regard for how their demands harm children other than their it is your job as a boy Mega ministration to fight back against these voices no matter how lovely Unfortunately they resist it is your job to represent all the students and families in this District especially those who do not have the means or confidence to speak up good news is that the Eagles are easily within this districts reach we only have to work together to achieve them each of our campuses are kids nothing less thank you Chris Miller you ready to I have a elementary school turn the boys. So for someone to think the admin Council to engage with an incredibly powerful conversation we had earlier about inclusion I also for that to me that we were with it was the board that the conversation doesn't stop there they continues and then we have a clue dialogue around such a sensitive topic and such a complex topic and I also bring to the table as well as a parent that is so absolutely thankful for an amazing I bring forward also the perspective of somebody to spend two full transition from SCC in front that transition halfway to it is complex in in superintendent I heard you talk about equity and access Equity not equality Equitable access to students that is so easily said but how do we match it with the funding for that equity and moving from an SDC to inclusion model requires where is equity in spending my time for you guys to look at the board to look at in the in the district to look at really cost involved in that direction and Stewart right equitably School site disproportionately that burden of transition and so no student is Left Behind within that transition and keep that for front because no student when adults to make hard decisions and lastly I heard I don't need to take the back seat and what I what I see in Culver City Unified teachers living in the back seat and watching this students drive the car forward when they do it with love and caring and kindness and they are willing to sit in the back seat but we can match that with the equity a resource oh my name is Janice well I'm second grade teacher and I want to come you know me and for those of you who don't I have a pretty unique perspectives this year I'm in. I want to see a parent and not just a parent but a parent of a severely special needs child I work for this excerpt from a 13 years I love this drink appreciate the meeting that happened earlier and those of you who are deer and who lives in and your feedback one of the things that we talked about with trucks I think that too many times to deer tracks, right now and that's me being just completely open and honest with you I'm speaking from the heart because I felt like my heart and you know I something that I pre-planned in order to try because this is a really important you should see me as a father I feel very embarrassed by the fact that you have programs in the district that are not available to talk you're saying that this is where we are headed this is what you also said some things about I don't think I've learned that came from classes or or running at low beam with children about so I hope that everything that you're saying honest and true that you are in charge of model of where you will be open to everyone and I hope that you will take into consideration the work that is being done are the schools because we are working more and we are working harder and more like a weed love those kids that's it so thank you for listening I think you called my name I'm not sure I am a proud parent of El Rincon and I really appreciate the conversation we had earlier to bring tendon thank you for allowing the currents and   to really boys from their heart what they what are the things that was mentioned in earlier is our concern for transparency we as a school with an amazing administrator an amazing teachers 1 things to be fair across the board we have three ICC classes I'm aware that land how has SEC classes as well I'm also aware that lol bye as a district if we're going towards total occlusion it's extremely important that are additional elementary schools begin to have those FCC classes so the transition from one place to will make it easier on the staff the students and parents we don't want to lose everything we have it all right now girl has 5 kindergarten classroom with 5 amazing teacher and I spy kindergarten classes are going to have to become five first grade classes because they're going to be additional student entering our school especially if we continue towards the role of inclusion we're going to have additional scenes and Trina. We want transparency we want to see what each school is capable of housing the students we want to see what you're doing with the SEC classes Saranac we will cross the border we want to make sure that our suits and only crime receive the same opportunities as the students at La bayona El Marino and they pop is Peterson consideration once again thank you for your time earlier I really appreciate it and thank you again for your time my name is my name is and I have a child actually two of them and ask them how I am very upset with all the special needs program so far my son is in full swing and he is excluded any inventor community the one with the steering and Room 33 and then house challenges need more directions then he's difficult years however that doesn't mean he is left Sally I have two lovely kids as soon as they are treated and communicated differently I noticed I'm going to be honest I noticed a lack of leadership of the hire special needs program for past 5 years my son name is no problem I want him to be included and all Main Street programs are signs Excel Academy free be a part of assembly and awards
