good evening we are calling our board meeting to order December 17th at 5:30 and at this time we will take there are 3 trustees present and at this time we will take any public comment for items on our closed session agenda and there are um okay no members of the audience on Zoom waiting to make public comment sir are you here for public comment on closed session and we have I have 1 member of the audience who is not here to make public comment on closed session agenda items so I'll entertain a motion to recess to closed please so moved second all those in favor say I I okay see you okay good evening everyone we're right I see you are you on your sound on Zoom just checking for the echo okay okay we are returning from closed session at this time for our December 17th board meeting its 605 PM we have 4 trustees present and we'll begin with the flag salute over your heart ready begin thank you I um would you like to do a land acknowledgement okay at this time we'll move to item 3.3 our land acknowledgement uh we acknowledge our presence on the traditional ancestral and unseated territory of the keys and tongva peoples who are the original caretakers of this land thank you moving to 3.4 we have no Public Announcement of actions taken by the board in closed session and this time we'll move to our public hearing and I have content to read a script the public hearing for the association of class ified employees initial collective bargaining proposal to the Culver City Unified School District for the 2024 2025 school year is now open at 607 p.m. the initial collective bargaining proposal from the assoc of classified employees for the 2024 2025 school year has been presented to the Culver City Unified School District a copy of the initial collective bargaining proposal from Ace to CCSD is available on our district website comments during this public public hearing should be limited to the ace 2024 2025 initial bargaining proposal members of the audience who wish to comment on other issues including the bargaining process or past bargaining proposals should wait until public recognition it is our goal to hear from all of you who wish to be heard we now invite members of the audience to address the Board of Education on the ace initial bargaining proposal to Ace for the 2024 2025 school year I don't see anybody online either for the ace sunshine okay no 1 is approaching the podium with a card so at this time the board of education has heard your comments and concerns and we thank you very much for your input the public hearing is now closed at 608 p.m. okay with that we will move to adoption of the agenda moved to approve as presented second all of those in favor say I I I all right so from here on in Dr Lucas will take over for item 6.1 so happy to start with Miss Lindsay Carlson and Miss Carl if you will come over here and come on over buddy and uh we have the oath of office for you so if you would raise your right hand I I your name Lindsay Carlson do solemnly swear do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States that I will support and defend the constitution of and the constitution of the State of California and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies foreign and domestic against all enemies foreign domestic that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the comment when we get to public comments thank you so I we were going to suggest that they make the first speech before recess I think right now we're gonna have our new colleagues join us on the dis I think we're gonna hello looks so different over there I'll switch on um colleagues I was going to suggest that we continue with the agenda do our reorg and then have our new members make their first comments and then we recess for pictures we can do a group board picture as well as families and friends who would wish to take pictures with with the new members can happen during the recess after the new members give their remarks I'm open to suggestions of colleagues don't like that but thank you thank you Manny so I think we're gonna move on to item 6.2 I don't know if we have thank you Mr zador this is the annual reorganization meeting um and board you may recall that we have a board bylaw 9100 in which the um uh sitting vice president uh becomes the sitting president in the year following their um Services as vice president so with that board policy in mind Mr asador is our board president and um at this time Mr asador you would begin the process for the nominations for the vice president and the clerk okay um so colleagues I don't know if thank you um uh I don't know if colleagues have a specific where they want to do this but usually we just open it up for nominations so call us I don't know if anyone has a nomination for vice president I'd like to nominate board member Loretta who served as clerk for last year we have a nomination do we have any other do we need a second on the nomination Miss Williams before we we need a second I'll second it why second do we have any more nominations quote do we vote on that I think I need to accept yes do you accept uh I I I accept the nomination thank you okay um Miss Williams says do we need to go to a vote for that yes so you go ahead so we have a first by Mr Guerrero a second by Miss Carlson um all in favor please say I I thank you congratulations all right now to the nomination of a clerk colleagues we have a nomination for our clerk I'd like to nominate Mr Guerrero I'll second sure up to the corn do we have any other nominations for Clerk seeing none all those in favor please say I I I and we have a nomination for parliamentarian next I'd like to nominate Mr lachman do you have a second 1 second m do we have any other nominations for the parliamentarian I accept thank you um all those in favor please say I I do we want to wait maybe save the committee's after just so we can get our board member any board member comments and then we can come back later I know we did that during our first meeting I don't know how we wanted to proceed we can go through committees now or we can just go to new member comments and then we can do pictures and then take the back up after recess let's do that sure okay so I think we're going to table this until after recess Okay cool so now we're going to jump over to item 8.1 public recognition guidelines yeah members of the audience yes sorry yeah so item 8.2 members of the of the audience items not on the agenda this is a time when members of the audience May address the board on matters not listed on the agenda those persons wishing to speak should complete a speaker's card and submit it to the superintendent's executive assistant and the interest of time and Order presentations from the public are limited to 3 minutes per person the total time for non-ag items so now I see 20 minutes board members I don't get that part the Board of Trustees May reduce the time limits if they're a large number of individuals Desiring to address the board so there's a new parliamentarian going to take with technical assistance from the outgoing um do we have any speaker cards for items 8.2 in the room uh we have uh 4 here and how many we have online 2 hands raised at the moment okay so for in-person to online 21 do we want to give it 30 more seconds before we close public comments on the 8.2 I think we're good on that okay okay seeing none so we're gonna now close public comments and items 8.2 and then Mr luqman if you want to absolutely call the members up in order and please come to the podium and give your Max and what's the time frame for everybody 3 minutes 3 minutes sorry okay Melissa Sanders 3 minutes Brian's got his trusty wax okay that's not isn't it all right okay go ahead fine um quick point of reference though do we get to say things about the new board members of items on the agenda or items off the agenda because technically they're the agenda yeah I would agree it's it's on the agenda given the swearing in so all right so I'm just going to do items not on the agenda that um most of you who are up there uh probably got a letter today um hope you read it hope you understand this is only the first step and I am not going to let go of being taken horribly you just the 3 of you that are still here you've treated us horribly you have violated our rights you have done probably as much as possible as we can do to eradicate any trust whatsoever so you guys can either get together and we can have a conversation so we don't have to get a lot of legal stuff involved or not it'll be up to you but this isn't going away and you're pretending it didn't happen is not going to go away the other thing I would like to make sure is very clear with the new school board members members coming on I have never seen and I hope Santa you can figure this out any department policies regulations anything about how much money is spent on food whether it's by Head by Department by event by anything and is technically a nonprofit you should have 1 period I work for a nonprofit not only do I have to have like a very specific dollar amount listed but I can't spend more than that I have to have documentation I have to prove what what it was for and why it happened and who it happened with so the fact that I don't see any of that happening is a huge concern and considering how we are dipping into our reserves uh and not exactly flush with money I would think that is something should be handled pretty immediately because it's amazing how much money can be spent when no 1's paying attention so I would like that done so those are my 2 big things as always you all have my email thank you okay uh next Janine wisnoski Stalin okay oh you want to move to the next okay sure all right let's get in shorter all right uh Caroline leuser okay I have just uh 2 quick comments 1 is that I've noticed that the ceiling tiles which were supposedly fixed at the high school I don't know more than a year ago they're still falling down and even in the faculty lounge and other places I know that at a board meeting um not that long ago there was a student rep who commented on the fact that a sealing tile had fallen down and hit her friend in the head and there was really no reaction to that so I'm just hoping that we'll take a look at that um the second thing is it probably seems Petty but for the substitutes to have to drive our time sheets here at the end of the month that's not really uh a to it's not professional I mean every single 1 of us we can't even you know give it to the secretary to put in the overnight mail we have to physically drive it here and you know that's not really good for the carbon footprint but also if um they also have early cut off so let's say the cutoff is the 25th of the month or the 20th of the month and then I work that subsequent week that means I have to drive here twice and frankly there was a substitute job recently that it almost turned down because I knew I was going to have to drive in a second time sheet and the the cut offs I mean we have to get here by 3:45 but school lets out at 3:30 so that's really not that easy to get here even its let's put it that way and so and then you have substitute janitors and all these other substitute classified people they have the same problem so it's kind of like well when I work in other school districts I don't have that problem but if I work in Culver City I have to ship my time sheet and that's just doesn't seem appropriate or professional so that's my comment thank you we have 2 online let's start with Jake bosson okay uh hello there uh I'm 1 of the co-presidents of the CTE film program at the high school and uh I'm just here to give you guys an update about what we're all up to uh at the avpa programs uh so right now for film uh we're prepping for our Sony films our biggest big biggest projects of the year um then we also have our winter showcase on the 17th uh so in the last month theater performed their production of Puffs at the Kirk Douglas theater dance had their fall concert and music also had their Winter concert uh and then both music and visual art participated in the tree lighting uh couple weeks ago as well and so um just on a personal note this this this program really does mean the world's me as it does for pretty much everyone else in it it's just a really unique opportunity for all students at our school uh you know it's a place where people from all different grade levels and experience levels uh can come together and just thrown into next and you can learn all sorts of uh School uh skills within the Arts and make really great friendships and yeah I know I've made tons of friends and you know we all really appreciate your continued support that that's about it thank you thank you and now uh Katherine Graco hi I think I might be on the wrong section um I just want is it the wrong time to um congratulate Miss Carlson and Mr lachman um if it is that's all I wanted to say I'm Kathy gracom the ccft union rep um at the high school and I just wanted to say congratulations and I look forward to working with you and I probably am in the wrong spot but that's all thank you thank you never a wrong time for that um okay that items not on the agenda thank you now we're going to move to item 8.3 CC USD employee groups usually we start off with Miss hammy Miss hammy I'm not sure if you're online I am here thank you very much I appreciate uh seeing all of you this evening and especially our 2 new board members I give you a warm welcome uh Mrs Carlson and Mr lachman we look forward to to meeting with you we look forward to helping you feel free to reach out anytime you have any questions about classified issues and that's all I really wanted to say because I'm very excited we're starting a new era on the board and I'll leave it at that thank you very much thank you Miss Emmy and I will move to Mr long hi thank you um so same thing I just want to welcome everyone first I just want to start off um because I know um some of my members and a few community members that you know talked about that there was a lot of comments about um what people have done for staff and I always say that um if it's not coming directly directly from the staff or it's coming from me or Debbie collectively that it's not coming from the staff because I'm the voice of the certificated staff collectively and she's the voice of the classified staff collectively so I like to actually give some thanks first I actually want talk to our 3 uh returning board members and the things that they have actually done for our staff and I'll start with uh Mr Stephanie Laredo so I want to thank you for when we were transitioning to get a new superintendent for that voice to make sure that we did have a seat at that table that you are 1 of the most outspoken people to make sure that we did have that voice um and did fight that battle for us to make sure we were there so I just want to show you that appreciation and our members did notice that that you were there for us there um I also joke that there was a drain that Stephanie got put in for us that we jokingly call um the Laredo drain and uh there's a pothole now with your name on it if you're did too by the way um to uh Mr ez-door so I remember when you first came onto the board so we had worked a lot when you were a student but when you first came out to the board I remember we had a big fight over um a raise that we had asked for and I remember right after the negotiations broke down you texting me right away like what happened like what happened what happened what happened and we kind of went through it and and then when we rallied out at City Hall about 100 teachers at City Hall I remember you texting me should I come out and join you and I said no no no you probably you're going to be better off where you are so I really appreciated that and wanted to thank you you know for being there with our staff and uh to Mr Guerrero I know same thing with the 8% I know that you were working hard for us and uh that you also took uh the brunt end of many 4 to 1 votes um doing the right thing for the ccft app as well too when it came to things like the budget um and what was right for us and uh many times came to our meetings and you know face some of my uh more vocal members on certain issues and appreciated you uh take that for us and uh to all 3 of you when there was a time when we needed to make a change in leadership in this District you all stood up in a 3 to 2 vote made that change and that took courage to do that because there was a lot of backlash by other members against you um by certain people in the community against you and you had the courage to stand up and say we needed to make that change when we desperately need to make a change in leadership in this District because you all saw the Titanic was headed for the iceberg so I thank you for that as well to our new board members welcome uh we really really look forward to working with you um you did hear a little bit of a Rosy pitcher last week and I'm going to tell you it's not Rosie our budget is not in good shape right now and we're going to really have to roll up our sleeves and work hard on this Budget Inn ccusd a lot of things that need to be done a lot of hard work that has to be done but I'm confident that the 2 of you are going to work with our other board members to get these things done so we really look forward to the relationship and like Debbie said you know anytime I've already been able to to talk to you of course many time but always feel free to reach out with any of the issues that you see with certificated staff um and you know getting through these issues together and uh like Debbie said I think this is a new beginning and I'm going to be honest and I was talking to Mr milky who is out here who is the president for nearly 30 years of this Union and we both agreed that this is probably the first time ever that ccft feels that we have 5 board members that we can work with so the first time ever that we feel we have 5 board members that we can work with so thank you and we'll be talking soon thank you now move to item 8.4 superintendent report um thank you really I don't have a report this evening um except again extending my congratulations to the new uh board members thank you for joining this uh this work here it is hugely rewarding a huge time commitment which I think you're already starting to feel a little bit and um and extremely important so appreciate you stepping up to the plate and congratulations again um and my only other uh superintendent's report is we have a couple more days left this this semester finals start tomorrow at the high schools so wishing uh best luck to our high school students doing that work I want to repeat what actually Mr benio ferini who is 1 of our student board members mentioned last board meeting which is it's important but your grades do not define you and who you are right so we we want to work really hard uh but I want to just reiterate that and wish everyone in using holiday over the next couple of weeks while we are away and looking forward to seeing you on January 6th when we reopen again thank you thank you so much Dr Lucas I'm in will now move to item 8.5 student Representatives report that we should start with our Middle School Representatives hello um Roth Vegas your CCMS vice president and I'm Kara dose CCMS we had an amazing winter formal this week weekend uh past weekend I'm sorry as an eighth grader I had amazing experience with good food dances and a lot of decorations it was beautiful and ASP is very thankful for PTSA support and the school semester is almost over students are celebrating this last week with our annual winter Spirit Week um with minion Monday which was yesterday Grinch Tuesday plaid Wednesday uh Major League Baseball Thursday in pajama day Friday we are really excited this semester to end and we're all a little tired so thank you guys so much so much um and we now have our 2 High School Representatives I don't know if their online today but oh I see Mr Moira raising his hand so we can start with you uh hello Dr Lucas um board members and community members just quickly want to say thanks for the shout out Dr Lucas um followed by my name is Benicio morphed ini and I am the student School Board member um at large I'm sorry I could not attend today's meeting as I'm home studying for finals which start tomorrow like Dr Lucas said but I would like to congratulate Miss Carl's Carlson and Mr lachman uh and I look forward to working with all board members to advocate for students academic success and emotional well-being thank you thank you so much I don't know if we have Mr pain on Zoom I didn't yeah it's it's okay you don't see the Corporate Park reps either well I don't know Cobra Park reps if also on virtually please oh I'm here hi hi um I'm Zoe um the co Park family would just like to welcome um Andrew lacman and Lindsay Carlson the newest members of the CC USD board we look forward to building connections with you and deeply appreciate the board's continued support of our family we are excited about the opportunities ahead in the valuable contributions you all bring to our shared success thank you for the bank and essential part of our journey thank you so much I think that that's it for our student representative reports will now move to item 8.6 members of the audience item on the agenda this would be the time if members of the audience wanted to congratulate our new members or had any words for our our new members this would be the time to either raise your hand or submit your card your speaker card to the superintendent executive assistant cards yeah sorry got to get used to that 4 cards and uh 2 hands raised 1 just 1 there you go ah just 1 hand raised so uh we will um start with uh let's go with Joanna's name and 3 minutes let's see is this is this is this on I submitted my card last so I was not expecting to speak first um but I'm excited as a community member and a parent of a high school student I'm glad to be 1 of the first people to address items on the agenda and congratulate Lindsay Carlson and Andrew lachman like many community members um I volunteered uh for both of you and and knock doors and talk to friends and I feel that um I'm glad that many of us in the community did get out of our inertia and vote and take this election seriously I feel that local politics has become so important and I do think it's very symbolic that I think of the candidates running that 1 thing that the 2 of you share in common in addition to integrity and also being lawyers uh is a willingness and an active interest in listening to Community Voices so I'm delighted to hear our teacher Union Representatives say that for the first time we have school board members that that we can work with and that was an important part of my voting decision was picking people who could work in a productive and constructive manner with the teachers and I think that was something that was sometimes lacking um in uh past board members but I hope that it is um a message that's received by the uh veteran board members uh that Community Voices matter and that the community is listening we are paying attention and that when we feel that our voices are not taken seriously it's very frustrating and we feel that our concerns are not being heard I think many of you know that in addition to school safety and uh fiscal Integrity that 1 of my concerns is opportunities uh for students including opportunities for advanced classes in Middle School in ninth grade and in 10th grade in the humanities um in the sciences and in math as well and um I look forward to having some board members that I think can can share those concerns and those educational priorities and represent um that future uh for myself and many other community members and I also just want to reflect on the fact that this is such an important time um in ccusd uh dealing with Mental Health crisis different dealing with school violence and dealing with the uh huge amount of funds that taxpayers have granted our school board meaning a measure e and now measure oh and uh measure CC uh so um who's up there representing us really matters especially in a a big butt small town like Culver City and um you guys have my trust you have my respect and I'm really looking forward to the next 2 years only um maybe let's see someone help me with math students 600 days until the next election something like that uh so this is time to to plan and get ready and really looking forward to both of your tenure and thank you for the 3 vet school board members for for welcoming uh Andrew and Lindsay thank you there you go Janine yeah very fancy hi good evening um uh welcome everybody this is a greatly attended meeting um I wanted to come here tonight and take a moment to congratulate Lindsay uh Carlson Andrew lachman on your well-deserved election to the school board and this moment um standing here in this room it brings to mind the remarkable Legacy of leaders like Madeline erlick who this room is named after um whose passion for education and advocacy for the schools and unwavering dedication to the district said an enduring standard of Excellence and Malin who was a friend of so many of us here in the room commitment to include ivity Innovation and collaboration exemplified by her work to expand language immersion programs Foster educational opportunities for students and co-found the ccft is a reminder of what inspired leadership can achieve and I'm bringing this up because from knowing you for the last 8 years Lindsay and the bit I've gotten to know you Andrew I have no doubt that you will embody those same qualities as you step into your new roles as a parent of 3 daughters who attended ccusd schools from K to 12 and 1 who is now a public school teacher um I deeply value leaders who are committed to serving the best interests of all students and fostering an environment where everyone's voice is heard and Lindsay having seeing your Stellar leadership and other organizations I know you will bring that same dedication and Effectiveness to the school board I'm confident that you'll prioritize the needs of our schools while engaging parents teachers staff and all stakeholders and open and meaningful ways the support you receive from our unions during your campaign speaks volumes about your commitment to our Educators and staff and I know that you will continue advocating for those who play Vital roles in our school um so thank you Lindsay and thank you Andrew for stepping up to serve our community I look forward to the positive impact you will have and I wish you both great success as you take on this vital work thank you congratulations Melissa Sanders hello again um can you hear me no can you hear me now yes don't love these things um first and foremost Lindsay thank you for being here thank you for stepping up thank you for really making me a little less stressed about the next few years so um and I also want to thank to the men women parents community members who are in this room and on Zoom for all of us getting behind not just Lindsay but also trying to make this District a better District because that's what we all want it may not all be the same pathway but we all want the best for our children and I hope God I hope that with some new members and new officers and superintendents that we will finally get on a correct pathway so mainly thank you um that's the big take from what I'm about to say um the only other thing on the agenda that I'm a little concerned confused of is the safety thing um I mean I am thrilled that somebody who is been very antisemitic is finally off the day um I'm hoping that when you guys talk about safety it's not just physical safety I hope that safety becomes about emotional safety and about health as an overall person and not just whether or not you know the bulletproof glass got installed this is you know a ridiculous crazy world that we're living in right now but my child you know has encountered bullying and that's a safety issue that if you know hurts her mental health um you know what I don't want is to have a vendor come in and grip the district again um and you know pretend to work on that we need to really focus on the whole child whether that is a behavior thing whether it's being actually Equitable and supporting them all to succeed that is what Equity is it is not lowering bars because there aren't enough minority students in a class that is not acceptable you do what is best for all of the kids not a small small niche so I'm really looking forward to the safety as a whole not just no guns on campus no guns things like that um so I I will look forward to hearing more about that but overall thank you Lindsay congratulations um can't wait for what so I had Marcy Bond good evening um I'm actually up here just to congratulate the new board member um I really uh am looking forward to what I hope is a new era in our school board not just for our school board but for our school district and I think that this could be a really exciting time that things could um go in a better Direction than we have been looking for the safety looking for our schools to be clean um and to also be upgraded um and someone reminded me that it would be remiss of me if I didn't say we need a high school pool so I had to say that we really do need a high school pool I that I do believe is an equity issue uh accessibility issue because um it's I think drowning I believe is like the number 1 accident for kids between 4 and 18 years old and not having access to a pool and learning how to swim is um is 1 of the reasons that this happens and it's usually in it the it's we see this most in the communities that are the low income that don't have that access and unfortunately that often tends to be um the families of color so it's in I do believe that swimming is I know I'm going off on a tangent but you get me on swimming and this is what happens um I do believe that swimming is a survival skill and that everybody should have it and once again thank you for running Lindsay thank you for running Andrew and I look forward to seeing what this school this school board does from here on out Pamela Greenstein hello I'm Pamela Greenstein I'm the district ELD specialist and I'm also the political director for the Culver City Federation of teachers I worked um I volunteered for both Lindsay and and Andrews campaign and so did several people from our Union and we were very proud to help them get elected um it's not often that both of our candidates get elected and so we were very very happy and very proud that they got onto the board we think that they are pro-child pro teacher Pro Staff we think they're going to be wonderful and I just wanted to say how happy we are that they got elected I cannot read the all the writing here but elsid de Ramos good evening my name is Elsa de Ramos and I'm here on behalf of the LA county assessor Jeffrey prying and he wanted to send his congratulations and his thanks and he wanted to present you with a couple certificates to say uh thank you and he's looking forward to working with you and um we're just glad that you made it yeah and uh we have any on 1 online yes Angela Gray okay I just wanted to extend my congratulations to Lindsay and Andrew and that I look forward to working with you all um the school board this coming year and happy holidays to all thank you right and do we have any more are we nope that that is it okay cool so that concludes item 8.6 uh members of the audience items on the agenda will now move to item 8.7 members of the board colleagues I'm going to suggest that we hear from our new members first so maybe colleagues or who have been here since before today um have any congratulatory remarks that follow new members speeches so if we could start off with Miss Carlson sure all right I scripted this out just to make sure that I got everything and got over the nerves um so good evening everybody uh I wanted to first and foremost thank the voters of Culver City for electing me to this position as well as all the individuals and organizations that put their faith in me and offer their support while they're publicly or privately uh there's too many to thank individually uh but I especially wanted to lift up our Union partners ccft and Ace who have already been great collaborators in the work I want to thank all the volunteers who helped us reach more voters and my Consultants with the strategy group Who provided excellent advice to me and of course I want to thank my family uh my husband Scott and our son Archer who are here with me tonight I'm truly fortunate to have such a wonderful partner in life and a kind compassionate and resilient son I love you both so much um it was not part of my plan to run for office believe it or not I've always been most comfortable behind the scenes strategizing and helping other people get elected campaigning is hard especially doing it while trying to navigate around work and family responsibilities I'm a community organizer at heart and in practice and organizing this community is what led me here I'm here for no reason other than to serve the community and our schools the community Lifted Me Up and kept me going and the best thing to come out of all of it was the conversations at the doors and at the numerous meet and greets and the new friends and allies that I met along the way I hope to help show all the girls and women in this community what's possible that you can be a feminist full-time working mom even 1 of a young child and not just win a seat on this board but also govern well I hope to show everyone that equity and Excellence aren't mutually exclusive that holding yourselves and others accountable and to high ethical standards is a good thing that you can welcome different perspectives dissent and even disagreement and ultimately that helps you reach a more thoughtful and often better result and finally that seeking to persuade and collaborate is always better than seeking to intimidate and dominate those of you who have been attending board meetings for a while know that the last few years have been challenging I just took an oath to uphold the Constitution and I take that oath very seriously if we say that we believe in democracy we have to really believe in democracy which means serving the public following the law and supporting the ability of our constituents to petition our government without fear of retaliation and retribution from public officials it means that we don't just tell you what we value we live it we're entering a challenging time with budget cuts and 1-time coid related funds now exhausted we're also highly likely to face threats from the federal government particularly with respect to funding and our ability to protect our most vulnerable students I got into this race because I helped organize the community and I helped organize the community because I am deeply passionate about public education as some of you know my mom uh who I think might be watching this over Zoom right now from Minnesota uh spent her career as a public school teacher when my husband and I were looking to for a place to build our family a decade ago we picked Culver City for its excellent public schools and I know a lot of you that did same there's no greater influence on a child's success in life than their ability to receive a high quality public education that will prepare them to live work and thrive in a multicultural multilingual and highly connected World in this District I want all of our students and families to feel safe welcome and heard I'm excited to get to work and we have much opportunity here I'm having pasta facilities Bond earlier this year and then the public just overwhelmingly renewed The parcel tax to fill in funding gaps reduce class sizes and provide more services to our students among other things we have a community full of smart talented kind and passionate people who want the district to succeed they want our kids to be successful and our Educators and staff to feel appreciated and fulfilled in their work but I and all of us uh can't do this alone we need you so pick a district committee that interests you and throw your hat in the ring the next time that we're appointing new members get involved at a school site in the PTA booster club a site Council or otherwise organized a group of community members around an issue or a project if you identify need that you think the district has come to a meeting and tell us about it inform advise and challenge me let's get together and have a coffee maybe even some samosas sometime and I'll conclude right now with a nod to a political role model of mine going back to my teenagers he was a college professor in an organizer with strong core values but also saw the humanity in people who with whom he disagreed senator Paul walstone who died tragically in a plane crash 22 years ago would often give his students and then his constituents advice never separate the light if you lead from the words that you speak I take those words to heart as I begin my term on the board now and I'm looking forward to building trust mending relationships and working to ensure that this school district thrives thank you thank you so much Mrs when I moved to Mr luqman thank you I don't usually work from prepared texts but I'll do my best here with this um I'm usually happiest winging it um so thank you Mr chairman superintendent Lucas uh members of the board it is a great honor to be here and to have the opportunity to serve I am grateful to my wife Ingrid who is a first generation immigrant from Guatemala and who grew up in Englewood School tools and my daughter Charlotte who inspires me every day as they allow me in support my service to the community for those of you who I haven't gotten to talk a little bit about my background uh my father's retired Public Health Physician and my mother retired and social worker giving back to my community and wanting to see a better life for my daughter in our world is not only a part of my faith but is a part of the heritage of what I was with I am grateful for the diverse support um from this community and from every ideological demographic and Geographic corner of the district that believe our school district should be about students teachers and staff our Culver City schools are a great place and as a parent as many of you are in this room we came to Culver City because of the schools and the diversity of the population here and I ran to join this board because as others up here believe we should constantly strive for the Improvement of what we wanted uh uh and want to do our part to live up to the guiding principles of ccusd and there are a couple that I as I was reading through that which uh struck me in particular 1 is that we will expect um promote and celebrate Student Success for each and every student and to me that means ensuring that students who want to be challenged can be challenged and celebrate their success while also working to make sure that no student is Left Behind we can celebrate what makes us different and the obstacle and address the obstacles we faced while coming together as a district and I look forward to working with all of our communities to re to celebrate Culver City's diverse student population and bring us together as a single Community now second all students are capable of success without exception but this happens only if we are committed to finding the best path to that success and provide safety and support and resources to make sure they have the tools to succeed no matter their background resources at home or how they learn there are some still disconnects that affect our students and I heard those stories when I was walking through the 4 thousand and meeting with the 4,000 voters that I met with when I went door to door and they let me into their home to talk about their campaigns and their hopes about education many for their children 1 for instance the father of a dyslexic high school student who felt that no 1 was providing support for his son the parent of a gifted Elementary School child who felt that the just who left the district because his daughter was not being challenged in math the stories of English learner students are still performing far behind the rest of our students these were just some of the stories I heard no 1 thought we have a bad school system and there but there are still some gaps that are occurring and that prevent us from living up to this principle finally there's the 1 that struck me the most which is all ccusd employees families and community members contribute to Student Success this 1 has been a challenge for all of us not because we're not all doing our best to contribute but in a post-pandemic world much of how we disagree has gotten worse as a country and as a community in some cases we stop listening and ensuring that our processes are open and that voices are heard and some only got interested in winning now I'm not going to claim to be perfect and I'm going to do my best to represent everyone and do regular listening tours and seek inputs outside of my inner circle I have already sat down with the 2 outgoing members to discuss common ground on English learner education and ensuring inclusion for neurodivergent students and those with disabilities but to paraphrase President Obama uh there are those who may seek to divide us and who embrace the politics of anything goes well I too will say that tonight when it comes to our kids there's not a progressive Culver City or liberal Culver City or a conservative Culver City we're in the same Co City that stretches from Walnut to Los Sienna whether black white Latino American Asian-American or anything else whether you're a third generation resident or an immigrant family that just moved here we are all Culver City and we have to be in this together and this is important because of the budget and policy challenges before us many that my colleague mentioned in 2014 we all entered into something called the Culver City compact our Council our school board our unions and Community groups all um came together to put schools ahead of a personality and ideology and we need to bring that sense of community back and urgency back to face the budget organization and outside political challenges that will face Us in the next 2 to 4 years not to say that we will all agree on our approaches we will agree on some things and disagree on others but we return to a point where disagreement is over policy and not attacks over personal motives we can still disagree we can acknowledge valid points and even adopt some of where we even as we diverge um I am a product of progressive education uh and I appreciate the approach of its founder John Dewey a noted pragmatist and also a big supporter of art education who said that education is a process of living and not a preparation for future living I look forward to working and learning from this community students teachers and classified staff to build a better life together for a better Culver City Schools thank you thank you so much new colleagues um we're now going to hear from Miss Loretta thank you board president uh I just want to right now congratulate my new colleagues I look forward to doing uh Building forward together with you all and with the community in the next coming year uh and Beyond um I do want to recognize some highlights from this past calendar year that um and as we celebrate our 70th anniversary year of the organization operating under the name Culver City Unified School District this past year we had a superintendent transition we had major hires including our assistant superintendent of business services and several new directors in this department assistant superintendent of human resources and we had a um a successful hiring fair this this this past week on December 11th um we are poised to move uh direct uh to move towards directly hired staff more so and decreased Reliance on contractors um we're car and through that we're also carrying through our fiscal stability plan and ongoing responsible stewardship in partnership with our labor unions and see back um uh this year we had 2 successful ballot measures March 2024 we had measure e facilities Bond feasibility campaign and successful passing and in November of 2024 we had measure o feasibility campaign and successful passing I have so much gratitude again for co-chairs Mila Moraga Holtz and Meredith Johnson and all of our supportive Community who value public education um we also had which uh and in the coming weeks we'll see the fruits of our labor for uh clearer Direction and transparency through the implementation of a digital policy manual our policies are the most important way that the Board of Education sets direction for the district we also had facility improvements including the roof repairs cleaner grounds improve responsivity to um to uh problems in our classrooms and around campuses we've also had data um good data results we had improved attend we've had highlights and test scores especially AP tests in in college readiness College and Career Readiness um including more AP tests taken and um better results so but we have so much more work to do to improve reading math reclassification and a culture of care and belonging um your continued engagement and support means so much to our community uh Building forward together means improving outcomes and belonging for all of our students staff and families I'm grateful to serve on this body and please close out another successful calendar year with all of you I thank all of you here today thank you you so much um and when I move over to Mr gra thank you Mr President um I would just like to welcome um Miss Carlson and Mr lachman welcome to the board uh congratulations on your election I look forward to getting to know you personally and collegially um I look forward to deep discussions about the issues facing cover City schools and the cover City Community I look forward to learning more about your insights and experiences and agreeing with you and disagreeing with you and debating with you and ultimately coming to the best solutions that we can for our students our families our employees and the districts and schools so welcome thank you so much Mr Guerrero um and I'll just close by I think joining all of my um uh colleagues and and congratulating our new members uh board member lachman board member Carlson for their hard-fought victories uh to this board I think we all know uniquely and I think in our own ways that running for office is not easy as you as you mentioned Miss Carlson and you all ran um great campaigns and I look forward to to serving with you all I think Mr long and had mentioned in in his comments that it is undoubtable that we will be presented with um complex and hard challenges over these next few years that we confront these these really big challenges that are that are facing us but is my belief um that all of us on here um all 5 of us as well as our dedicated staff um can tackle this fight I I um often thinking about um an interview actually that I saw with um with uh Kiana Reeves and Drew Barrymore where kind of Reeves said that you can't have love without a fight and it is my belief that everyone who sits on this board has great love for this district and that we will continue to fight together to make sure that we can tackle the big issues uh before I go I just wanted to say that last week I um had the opportunity to attend the launch of the 2023 hate crime support from LA County um human rights and it was in that that that press release and that release of the report where they talked about this huge uptick in hate crimes and hate incidents happening particularly on school campuses a 46% increase from the year before accounting for all of or or 10% of all hate crimes present throughout Los Angeles County happening on school campuses it is very clear that we right now are being faced with a new um a a new complex issue that we need to work collectively to address and so I just wanted to say that um I know that we all will continue to take on the big bites and I look forward to working with you all I think now we're going to go on a recess of the new members can take pictures with their families and and support us so we'll reach us now at 7 7 for what 10 minutes 10 minutes yeah we'll do a hard pitch first all right we will call this meeting back to order at 7:21 p.m. and I think we're I'm going to start back off with our reorganization because we didn't get a chance to go through the Committees yet so we're going to go back to item 6.2 just to make sure that we can get committees um we assume I don't remember how we did it last time did we just go committee by committee and take nominations yeah okay okay this this sheet doesn't have everything we have like a separate spreadsheet that we were tracking from before so um um but I can I can help with sure okay with that okay cool so should we start with this 1 okay so we'll start with the voting representative to the Los Angeles County School trustees Association and the representative to members to the county committee on School District organization that was interested that's all I'm sorry I was going to say unless someone else uh is already serving who wants to keep it I'm interested that's all usually we do uh ah ah main rep and then an alternate and I would like to support you are there any other questions to that also Mr lockman has it um do we do an we do an alternative we usually do do an alternate but um and also whenever he can't go and the altar like we can we have a vote so who as long as somebody goes right okay from the body can can go you said are you saying you want to do you want to be that um this 1 they do ask that this paperwork for this 1 so they do ask for a make representative yeah all right and I can give you the the calendar okay okay mhm okay cool uh so next is representative to the board of education and city council liaison committee um I think for this 1 we take 2 people who will remain like the main members of the committee and then an alternate for that colleagues I would like to continue I would also like to continue on that committee as well um if you need an alternate just having served on a city commission but if anyone else wants it I'm we took alternates is it for any objection fine with me okay cool so I guess me and Miss Loretta will serve on the committee with Mr lockman as an alternate um next is representative to the Community Arts team front and center theater collaborative so this is not what this is call that this is like the community art oh wait hold on a second oh oh okay um it it's just Community Arts team now okay not the front and center theater collaborative it's just it's all encompassing okay I don't want to serve on that I don't really know what that is um actually I do not know what that is did you who was it previously so um this is so when we're not in strategic planning the Strategic Arts committee it becomes this um so uh so Heather Moses does um lead this you were on that right no okay does anyone want to be on that is it 2 or 1 it's 1 and then the alternate or or it's up to 2 oh okay okay I would be fine doing it great well that 1 and we find out when it is so that it fits with your schedule if it doesn't fit with your schedule then you can bounce it back to us and do we want to take an alternate for that you try to be the ultimate great Mr will be the ultimate for that um representative to the Culver City Education Foundation are we taking 2 for this now it's up to 2 but we're okay with 1 okay I would actually like to do that 1 that 1 and I've been doing that 1 so I wouldn't mind continuing although I I'm happy to do it as well so whatever you want to do okay are we going to do 2 or 1 in an alternate but okay group and it meets like according to your timing I mean I don't think an alternate is necessary okay okay does do they uh do they um participate on the board directors meeting or just know it's just with our assistant superintendent and the executive director okay yeah I would be interested I'm okay with that you're okay all right okay so we'll put that 1 for Miss Carlson um representative to the Baldwin Hills Community advisory panel colleagues uh just a point of clarification on that 1 too so um is that the like Baldwin Hills Park or is this something um I don't I mean you know what I'm talking about right like the Culver steps so this is the this is the county advisory panel so in the past it's been important to passport members for us to have a voice there because it they're involved in shutting down the Englewood oil field um however it does me every third Thursday at 4 pm and 4 Thursday at 6 p-m and I'm understanding that it's for like an hour and a half or 2 hours so for and it's in person from what I understand I don't not have um reliable transportation to get me there on those Thursdays so I it wouldn't be a good idea for me to have an interest in this because I can't serve um however I think that if anybody here has an and was thinking that maybe Mr lachman might be interested in it if he's available but it's it can be a heavy lift right the third my Thursdays are kind of funky at least through this year okay I have some things I have to clear out okay we had 2 people because it is a heavy an alternate um I mean I'm fine to be 1 with the idea that it would it take turns meet it like 1 meeting and 1 meeting 1 okay yeah how are you do I have another colleague who would want to go on the other uh Thursday no I can't commit to Thursdays I I think that would be it's difficult for this year and next cycle around I may be able to do it this year I will not third and fourth Thursday every month basically is that what you're saying 4 I'm I think well but I think that with 2 people it would be like you would go yeah right right the other side nobody else will I'll do it but okay so me and Mr and we adjust as we go along if if it's really not if we need to as a body we can as long as we cover cool um our representative to cover needs so I did that last time I would like to continue um well I'm happy to have a second if anybody's interested and they're still meeting first Monday of the month or what is it I haven't got an invitation lately so I'm not sure exactly when a meeting that would be 1 of my tasks if I am the representative okay we we just need up to 2 we don't need 2 exactly but I will I can join you should the timing workout if you'd like alright so Mr Zoom usually or in person on that um representative special education District advisory committee that's another 1 that I've been doing um that again I I would be pleased to continue with that but uh Dr Kent was the other person on there so that's that's a good 1 to have 2 on okay um that would meet Zoom its kind of scheduled a regularly I think they're working on a more a regular schedule yeah do you want to stay on that Mr yes does anyone else want to join Mr Guerrero on that jump in tomorrow you said this is on Zoom yeah what time frame do you know oh in the evening okay yeah you I mean and you said it's not necessarily regular meetings like it's once a month I there was a while where they were kind of adjusting it based on people's schedule I don't know if that's kind of settled into a good colleagues that anyone else want to serve on that or I've served on it before I enjoyed doing it I I can do it again I think it just matters when it when it is so I think now we have 3 people I don't know do we just talk it out see who I don't need to do it I mean I just had questions about it that's all oh Mr luqman did you also want to be on that no uh no I mean okay I will I will I will Vala I will volunteer okay great so Mr Grow and Miss serve on that um representative to the equity advisor committee I know that for this 1 we took 1 for like the EAC I don't yeah so before we had 1 for EAC 1 for task force but task force hasn't been meeting yet or or hasn't been meeting and then we had a spin-off of that for black families advisory Council as well so that we had 1 each so that it wouldn't be overwhelming for the for the Committees okay does anyone want to serve on the equity task force we'll start with the task force I'll be happy to do you want the sermon first I served on it you know as you know in the past before yeah any objections colleagues know that doesn't want it I can of course does anyone want to serve on the equity advisory committee I will continue great uh so we'll have Mr any objections a couple of weeks and I think that since the creation of the black family Council I've been for rep for that yeah that makes sense that 1 was um Miss Loretta on the committee and then me on the uh representative to My Brother's Keeper I know this 1 we council member and I had talked about restarting this and I know City staff has just been really overwhelmed I think this year but this is something that I think at some point is coming back and so um I don't I think for this 1 we took a Committee Member and then an an alternate I would like to stay on on this committee any objections for that now great it's also really a committee do we have a alternate no we don't need an alternate that's fine okay cool um representative to the local control accountability plan or advisory Council so I'm currently on that and I would like to continue but I think for that 1 we took too right I think you should continue though because you you started already on this year I did we make it you're the continuity will be very helpful yeah do we have a second member who would like to joined that that 1's too I'll do it if you guys want me to but happy to yeah it's it's Mondays you're okay with Mondays yeah um yeah Monday evenings yeah it's Tuesday 5:30 to 7 should generally be okay yeah okay yeah great the web Mr Guerrero thank you Miss Carlson on the alcat pack well that just also makes sense just in case the uh laksa is also often on Mondays and um Mr lachman has that okay um our representative to the safe routes to school um it's been I've been on it and I I love doing it right I don't have objection to that do you want to stay yeah great Mr will serve on that representative to the environmental sustainability committee I love doing that too yeah I don't have an objection is any colleagues it's I did see 2 so if there's 1 I'm happy to be the other yes it's it's usually on Wednesday at 4 pm once a month there's 1 it's there's 1 tomorrow so it's usually third Wednesday okay great so we'll have Miss Loretta with Mr lachman on that I don't know I don't have this open okay so I will continue as a pisma rep we can have the 2 votes per meeting if anybody ever wants to come with me a pisma is a Asian Pacific Islander school board members Association and we have a district membership so that's including our superintendent that means if the super attendant or 2 of our members attend any meeting we get 2 votes we don't have to assign a second 1 if we don't want to and you all can just come at your leisure to meetings we look forward to learning from you just leave it at that thank you I've got um so we just started the facilities District standards it's not a standing it's not a standing committee but we should not have more than 2 of us attending at a time um since it is an ad hoc committee I um was supposed to start last week but I had a crazy cough uh so I did not attend last week but I'm looking for I I'd like to continue going and um once the district standards are are set they should not be continuing to meet a after that so do we take 2 for that or just 1 um we can take up to 2 if anybody else wants to come could you explain a little bit more about what that does um which is where we actually so districtwide standards committee actually we participate we need to look at no standardizing everything mechanical systems all the equipment that we use in cafeteria what kind of material we want and flooring ceiling your doors efficient doors and energy efficient systems so basically we go over the architect who is leading will has a checklist of all the items that we need it's initially actually um it's a lot of technical details goes into that process and the mot department and the Safety and Security and a nutrition all our experts within the organization they give their feedback and then we come back and take the input from the committee members as to this is your your inputs as to the Energy Efficiency system or you know what do we want to expand on what is the 21st Century Learning space look like sounds kind of interesting okay yeah and they have been meeting in the after they they are meeting in the afternoon right yes okay no afternoons are fine mornings not good but afternoons I can occasionally do but I will give that a try okay ring from your organization or something that it's not ongoing so it's actually for 3 months it's going to end in the next 2 and a half months okay great right do we have any injections for those 2 members serving great well miss Loretto and Mr lachman and uh the only other thing that I have on here is we don't currently have a CL SBA membership for the district right actually can we do we do I think we do then if we do then we may have um we may need 1 rep for that I don't know you're double check yeah that would be great we do have you you'll check should we just skip or should we have in case we do do we know I was just going to say that I think maybe a point in case we do and then we don't have to do we have any do we have any volunteers maybe from this side of the the Das I'd be happy to if uh schedule permission right no objection we'll have Mr you can come just in case alright okay I got it right yeah that's it okay cool thank you please item 6.2 we will now move to um we talked about doing that turn out to 9 our information and it was item 9.2 um 2024 2025 resolution number 21 success for all means safety for all I think it's I think Mr boxer technically about that thank you board president asador members of the board this uh resolution is brought forth today publicly in information so that it can be read into the public record this is a reifying of the 20162017 resolution number 4 with expanded in assurances meaning success for all means safety for all that the district is deemed Zone and Resource Centers for students and families so this is brought to you as information and then appears later on the agenda in consent or action thank you so Mr rezidor as you as you recall we've been having a past practice of reading this into the record yeah yeah yeah okay do we read it right now or we calling do we all have the copy do we want any comments first sir sure yeah we can do comments call do we have any comments um I just want to thank uh Dr Baxter and her and the team um after the uh election it was very important that we come back and um recommit to our students and staff especially in light of the uh the impending uh Federal Administration and make sure that uh we are fostering a culture of belonging and safety on our school campuses and um I know that this board and this new body will fight for all of um our uh energy and for all of our dollars to remain if not grow for all of our students that needed in order to thrive so thank you so much thank you Mr row colleagues do we have any other comments no um no I just can speak to the level of fear concern that pardon the community so many communities about the impact uh of some of proposed changes eliminations uh that may come up with the new Administration uh and I just want to thank you for you know for drafting this and and the the breadth of it so it's it's a very well put together and appreciate everyone's work on it great uh no problems for myself either so we're gonna go from Mr lachman this way and each do 3 with the last speaker getting a a long too so um we will start with the document success for all means safety for all Culver Unified School District district campuses are safe zones and Resource Centers for students and families whereas a shift signaled by the incoming Federal administration's enforcement proposed policies to dissolve public agencies excuse me create um erode um autonomy for public institutions including public schools and roll back progress for numerous communities that cover City United did School District serves every day has created a climate of heightened fear and anxiety for many ccusd students staff and their families including immigrants women non-binary lgbtq plus working class living people at or below the poverty line I do 1 more or 2 more 2 more okay uh whereas ccusd believes students and adults should treat all people respectfully without regard to race language spoken color religion uh handicap national origin immigration immigration status age sexual orientation gender identity uh and expression or political belief whereas there is a documented in increase in anti-immigrant and anti-lgbtq plus sentiment in the United States and these narratives divided communities Elevate risk factors and compromised mental health and school engagement whereas the United States Supreme Court held in Prior versus doe that no public school district has a basis to deny children access to education based on their immigration status citing that children have little to no control over their immigration status the harm it would inflict on the child and so Society itself and equal protection rights of the 14th Amendment whereas ccusd student body and staff consists of people of many different faiths including but not limited to Christian Jewish and Muslim and no faith as well as many houses of faith including but not limited to churches temples and mosques whereas Education Code 220 states it is the policy of the State of California that no person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis of disability gender gender identity gender expression nationality racer ethnicity religion or sexual orientation whereas many in our community have concerns that the incoming Federal Administration has signaled it believes in limiting the lgbtq plus community civil and human rights which is further created a climate of heightened fear and anxiety for many CCSD students staff and their families now therefore be it we the Board of Education declare every situation site as a place where students stopped and their families can seek help assistance information and Sanctuary faced with fear and anxiety about related immigration enforcement and or any other efforts to curtail or deny civil or human rights and that we will protect our students free speech and promote Civic engagement across every grade level and learning context resolve CCSC Board of Education the superintendent and labor Partners affirm the district's commitment to an inclusive safe and welcoming school district for all students employees and families resolve that the district will continue to do everything in its power to protect and defend all students right to a public education and their well-being and that doing so is the responsibility of all ccusd employees resolved that the district will continue to support legislation that protects the dignity and rights of immigrant and lgbtq plus students staff and families resolve that schools will have ongoing access to age appropriate educational and mental health Health resources to promote respect towards students staff and families of all identities resolved that the superintendent shall establish all TK to 12 Child Development Centers and adult schools as resource and information sites for students and their families and that the board encourages the superintendent to increase and enhance Partnerships with community-based organizations and legal services organizations who provide resources for families facing deportation and our registration and our other civil rights restrictions as a result of actions of the incoming Federal Administration and that a rapid response Network be reactivated to assist any affected students staff and their family members further resolved in order to provide a public education regardless of a child's family or immigration status religion sexual or orientation gender identity race gender or any other protected class under California law including but not limited to disability absent any applicable federal state or local law regulation ordinance or Court decision the district shall abide by the following conduct uh 1 District Personnel shall treat all students equitably in the receipt of all School services including but not limited to the educational instruction the free and reduced lunch program in transportation to District Personnel shall be reminded not to inquire about a student's immigration status religion disability gender identity or sexual orientation including that of family members 3 any requests related to immigration status shall be immediately forwarded to the superintendent for review and a decision on whether to allow access to the site and or the information to ensure District compliance with Skyler and other applicable laws for district Personnel shall continue to ensure all students staff and families are treated respectfully regardless of immigration status religion sexual orientation gender identity race gender or any other protected class under California law including but not limited to disability thank you uh now we will now we move to action items 11.1 waiver of the board bylaw 9320 meeting and schedule a proposed meeting dates and we usually take a motion before we hear a stop reporter I'll do a quick staff report and then yeah um thank you Mr edoor this is uh uh giving our calendar for the rest of the board meeting calendar for the rest of the calendar year um in front in front of you so we are working on a calendar year process which is important for um some of our reporting in regards to board meetings so it's updating you get a board previous board I already approved January through June and this is adding in July through December but following the regular pattern that we have with our school board meetings thank you so much I think we're going to take a motion in a second before we go into comments we have it so do we have a motion I can move second okay move I Mr Grace I Loretto discussion do we have any quick question it's a waiver just because we're canceling a couple of meetings over the year and therefore it's religious calendars to make sure Russia Shana yapor the major religious holidays the ones that people don't work are that these don't conflict with those Passover I'm not worried about already checked that 1 it's not during the first 2 days but I just thank you for raising the concern it has but we'll we'll double check because people may ask that it's important but I I appreciate us making making short okay thank you um just a follow-up question on that then if there is if there does turn out to be an issue do we bring it back to the body and then approve a change then that's exactly yes ma'am which certifies to County Office of Education who are the authorized signatories for the district and with the board reorganization and the new board members we are bringing back the revised um certification of signatures they approved to have a motion moved approve okay motion Minnesota second by Mr lachman discussion do we have any discussion great all those in favor say I I this means that y'all have to stay and sign by the way um now consent agenda do we take polls before to do we have any polls because I don't have any polls move to approve as presented right give me a second 1 right before we come back right or no uh yeah because the first meeting is the 14th oh that's right so we'll have 1 this Friday right before the break and then the 1 P 1 until the first week of January when we're back but you haven't had another board meeting by that but so yes yes that's a long way to say yeah there's 2 opportunities I would really love to see some form of the resolution in there yeah great resolution or reorganization would be the other and just welcome a new members and the and the new president and things like that chronologically that makes sense to go first but in a sense the resolution is probably the most pressing issue to many families I think the reorg will have it will reorg not have its own yeah section okay not in board corner I believe it will oh I can also cover that in superintendent's letter in the call for pride is that what you're referencing Mr rezidor or just and then I just thought I just assumed was going to appear somewhere that on its own yeah all right right right yeah it's newsworthy yes yeah great so I think we still need a second 1 because our first 1 is going to be the resolution and it might the second 1 might be the resolution and then um I mean did you did you want to talk about the um uh it didn't come up this time but we we didn't talk about the success of your your hiring Fair as well I don't know if that should come up as like 1 of your superintendent um things though and we're stealing your thunder um because before we can look I don't know before we look forward towards these new um job descriptions that kind of feel like uh we need to toot your horn a little bit so is that something you're going to talk about I mean I would be glad to talk about it I just don't know if we have any Norms around being a board item right I mean because it's the board corner but that's fine we also don't need to have yeah we don't need to need to have a boyfriend or less than that welcoming people back there you go great welcome back to school we usually um we usually do have like a greatest hits of 2024 or something like that and so I think that it might be you you might like to work with superintendent on that from the board Corner yeah like things we did over the last year yeah okay countdown sure starting with 10 colleagues just top rat 2024 W Board of Ed cool fine with that do we have any no great what we're gonna talk about and then board Corners uh future agenda is item 16.2 I know we have a standing list of items that are colleagues our colleagues if you had anything you wanted to add to that do they have access to get what we don't have that standing we don't have that access so maybe an update on where we're at with standing I think we may we can share that with you as you can see the running tab but just if you have any things that you would at some point like to see on the agenda have a good time not immediately no no to you do we have any thoughts on it's not a retreat because we're not going anywhere but just kind of like that board working meeting sometime soon because there's you know it's a good time to catch up on on where we've been and things like that but it's also a good time to to make sure new board members are kind of caught up on that and give them an opportunity to have input do we have any thoughts on something like that Mr President or or I think we're working on scheduling that yes so that would be uh probably a special meeting okay where we go through that exercise together and in in January okay great uh Mr lockman do you have any features great so we'll
