Baxter so great to be here with you and so great to be here with these awesome young scholars were so excited for these families that have jumped right in and and maximize their use of Joy school English so we had best over the summer and we had winners for each month and then we also had a grand prize winner so in addition to these great invented certificates that the board will award the please we also have this beautifully Illustrated Joy school book that has wonderful stories for your children in discussions for parents or you can talk about important values so I will make sure to get those in the Families 2 so are you in Winters and if you would just come up with your child in the family is welcome to come up as well or June we had Greta sir and Anna Hall and if you can remain standing up there and we'll get a big picture here in just a moment as well we had Boosie every Sunday and Ella Rose Gomez and finally our grand prize winner for the summer is jade green thank you so much If he if I could just take a minute normally when we register our children for the school year we wouldn't do the registration in the month of March and then the students until the late August or even sometime in the month of September there's a gap of several months of possibly instruction that could take place in English and begin to do something and I'm hoping that we can sustain for years and years to come we just a moment. ball is the fastest rising and one of the areas that we spotted that is a great opportunity I need for the students of the Culver schools as well as to the greater public are the traditional tennis courts into something that they're not making them usage which is by the way happening all across the country including some of our neighboring communities what's the temperature through the numbers around also attending previous board meetings including two nights past year I've heard over and over again email us with any concerns we try to respond as best as we can how do you feel about your persistent lies you never respond emails so I'm not sure why it's pretty easy to respond to emails and finally I just want everyone listening in to know that there is a better life for your students ACLU of Southern California first heard allegations about Culver Park about 10 years ago 2012 LA Times reported that Culver's TUSD School Board move the school into two portable classrooms that were meant to serve as a temporary home seven years later in 2019 in ACLU of Southern California attended a Culver City the board meeting to Advocate on behalf of Culver Park I personally attended that meeting and a meeting a few months ago to Advocate on behalf of Korra park at that point the trailers were in an unacceptable state that was seven years after the board put them there is Ferrari home record share that the trailers were infested with mice please droppings had a regular bathroom plumbing and an incomplete fire safety system now in 2022 we are back again to Advocate on behalf Clover Park as he have learned that these issues persist and new ones have come to light today as far as we know the district has unofficially close Culver Park without going through the proper Community process of wall and without addressing any inhumane previously named issues as a former what happened to the school in terms of clothing was a very intentional act that was clearly Mass behind the tragedy of the tender when in reality it was always going to happen as a this is further Evidence under resourcing of failure to list for Park is an option for Credit Recovery in Culver City USD handbook Culver Park from Culver City USD promotional posters now as soon as I return to empress and learning school districts have been provided with the store funding to support students recent state and federal initiatives a school district serves students with coming from the pain. It is vital that they invest These funds and resources that will ensure Student Success teachers with in Culver City USD have recorded that up to 90 students are in need of resources support and flexibility that only pull over part can provide such resources include mental health and social emotional support restorative justice Credit Recovery smaller classes qualified teachers and flexible student schedules that accommodate for students for non-traditional paths District of properly reopen Culver Park and the pathologist and Promises they made to 10 years ago we would like to remind you California students have a fundamental right to equal educational opportunities and it is your duty all of you your duty to provide such opportunities we ordered you to pick the input of your students and teachers seriously and ask that you take the proper measures to adjust all these issues to ensure that all students every opportunity thank you thank you keeping the number will let staff respond in the end of all of the public comments if you have any response hi since I assume all of you guys got my letter and it may see references things that are coming up under the agenda later under various Levin I'm I will just Advocate and beg and plead that you guys work with our city and our city council and say Hey you know all that real estate money transfer tax that you got and you don't know what to do with we really could use some help with District to repair some of our building is to get us through until we can get the Mattress Land funded with a bought because we're developing a very highfalutin City gangster Gears of development and Madness and it's become very expensive and I think it's shameful that this district has allowed these buildings to basically become delapp a did rat-infested Dirty disgusting about to fall on your head building and I don't understand how a once you know very respected very you know well well known to be a great district has just calling on this dip that I can't even say I might be a structure is just horrifying so until you guys can get your bond together and whatever else it takes to get your stuff together figure out a way to stop the absolute and for sure public and health hazard that our kids are walking into every day every day I mean if you're talking about removing 750,000 house cuz it keeps falling down in my letter I see there better be in asbestos test because for all we know you're going to make the situation even worse which if there is asbestos yeah they will need to come down and guess you need to redo the building in the meantime figure out a way to work with the city and get some of this stuff rectified and don't start planning in June start planning now so it should be done starting in June while the kids aren't there or figure out a temporary place for them to go while you take care of it I don't care at this point I am just so disgusted that there have been decades and Decades of neglect. this is where you have let these buildings go basically worse to me than was prisons that I've heard of apparently except for bikers at the moment I am just done as a homeowner who bought here for the district I am stunned disappointed shocked and angry so that's what I want you to do fix it thank you Jesus by Marcy I also see another hand so Mary Olson we will we will take your comment as well Saudi hi this is dmonty although I teach at Middle School in during the Summers I teach at the high school and my son attends Farragut and previously I worked at Culver Park so I'm so glad that Sophie's you lacking to reiterate all broken promises the school district has had in the past decade you don't Culver Park is like a microcosm of Culver City Unified when we talked about the facility when we talked about the rodents when we talked about the need for counselors that I saw that when I worked at coldbrook Park I started there in January 2017 I still think about the wonderful work we did there I know that Kathy Grasso talked about a former student that came in the last board meeting to her place to you no install furniture and he had such wonderful thing about Clover Park it's an amazing place and it was disheartening for me when I heard days of Milky if you also worked at Clover Park a long time ago say that he was initially interested in joining alternative education committee because you didn't want cloverpark to die in committee and I feel like that's what happened so after the ACLU came in February 2nd of this year to put the district on notice we were supposed to be slated for a board agenda but what happened was I think mr. Tran decided he didn't have enough information and April and then it wasn't discussed I've tried to raise this in the labor-management partnership many times I've created a whole entire Drive in our Google drive to share this all of this information all of the information that's Sophie Cielo highlighted to all of the sequels you know that make a lot of decisions I really hope that the Culver City students are board Representatives will go back and you know ask your counselors talk to your classmates see if leaving know about Clover Park this you know Wonderful space that students really Thrive then we need a space where you didn't have alternative option didn't start you know Credit Recovery social emotional counseling a schedule where they can go to work and I'm in the past even had you just had children so like a daycare and there are two but that's not happening now and we don't know what's happening because there's no communication about it so I really do hope this will go back to the board and I do hope that there's actual action and not just words because you know it's just a bunch of broken thank you Marcy hello my name is Marcy Vaughn and yes you did guess right and tell him it was me so I'm I'm speaking up because I am wondering why the board is focusing on things when you only have four members issues that really should be brought before a full board issues like did the contracts for the transfer students issues like this Brookwood which shouldn't nobody even wants and yet your depend you're determined to spend money and I don't care where that comes from but you're determined to spend money on something that ninety percent of the population including our teachers and our staff do not want I would also like to go and why are you not focusing on the violence that has ramped up once again on the high school and middle school campuses why are these issues not being addressed when instead you're focusing on things that the next board should making decisions on whether I'm part of that board or not it should come from the new members when you have a full seated board personally I think that this is complete wrong and I'm disappointed and I do hope that the board members will decide tonight not to make these very important decision that once again should not be made by a not fully seated board thank you thank you and merry thank you very much I'm going to be quoting a couple president tonight to to suggest for a better for poor performance and progress and help the body in the school and with our grade students president Teddy Roosevelt said the teachings of the Bible are so intertwined and entwined with our whole Civic and social life it would be literally and I do not mean figuratively I mean literally impossible for us to figure to ourselves what that life would be if these teachings were removed we would lose almost all standards by which we now judge both public and private moral all the standards towards which we was more or less resolution strive to raise ourselves almost every man who has by his added the sum of human achievement of which the race of proud of which our people are proud almost every such man has based his life work largely upon the teachings of the Bible among the fairy great a disproportionately large number have been diligent and close to dance of the Bible at first hand so I plead not merely for training of mine but for the moral and spiritual training set up always been founded and that a company the study of the book this book which is almost every civilization can be described Levin I'd like to use my time right now to talk about Culver Park if I could I'd like to express that ten years ago my son was the attorney for the ACLU that had meetings with Dave Larose to talk about refurbishing that site it usable unlivable for those students it was thanks to him that they were Renovations that we're done to Culver Park but he was also promise of the time but that was going to be a temporary housing for Clover Park High School in a year they were going to be moved into permanent facilities that were better suited for a school and I'm very disappointed to see that that didn't happen but I'm glad to see that the ACLU has taken cause again this is a very students I'm sure some of these students are Foster students homeless dude and he'll students these are the types of students that we are supposed to be putting our focus on and spending money make sure that their experience and school is as fantastic as it can be and is equal to any experience that any other child has and they need to have this type of the school where they can think that the school board will take that on serious consideration thank you thank you personal doctor 11 I just want to thank you for the message on politicking because they're definitely have been some Lines Blurred I feel recently with in a district facility so thank you for reminding people up that order again today on with a quick statement so probably as many people heard in the news with the LA City Council on some of the racist and homophobic slurs that were made by African president Mary Martinez Gil cedillo city councilman Kevin De Leon city councilman and Ron Herrera who is the president of the LA County Federation of Labor so see if tea on our state organization that issued a statement as well all the racist and homophobic slurs and references by LA's elected leaders are appalling and unacceptable leaders in our local state and National governments must be held to the highest standards of all members of their community and when they fell observe those standards they must be they must step down or be removed we must unite our communities against hate and fear that's why the leaders have CFT I'm still sitting in my van and other leaders and asking for those ended girls who made these hurtful comments to resign are we have to unite not to bite our communities and I worked at the head of the LA County Federation of Labor has tendered his resignation as an affiliate of that group I was one of the people that had sent messages to the LA fat as well as cfd calling for his resignation and the Executive Board of that organization quickly put them on a Ministry leave and he did resign yesterday and we called this other City Council Members ought to resign as well I just want to make that statement as it involved labor the second thing is I just want you I'm just give kind of big kudos to our site principles offer sharing some time and space with us on Wednesday so myself Debbie and mr. Tran or going to make rounds to all nine of our school sites to speak to them mostly on Wednesdays to have little talk to you in a session so I just want to really give my appreciation to every one of the principals who was more than open about sharing some Wednesday time with us and for mr. Tran for agreeing to come out of the school site that think it's very important for the staff to see their leadership during this time. So thank you to everyone for making that happen we're going to begin the bargaining pretty soon as backpack we probably will have our Sunshine proposal for the next board meeting so we look for do with all this money coming in from the state for you know people to get Fair compensation especially toward medical benefits this is something that Robert and Jose. Really nice job on last year and we hope to continue I could work in the bargaining Arena as well I'm also going to make a comment on Culver Park and actually make a suggestion that the board agenda is something on Culver park it seems like you know words of fight of our former president Dave things do died in committee so I would ask for the board to agendize a conversation on Clover Park early start talking about this so this is something that just doesn't go away or labor-management partnership has been a few times already to discuss many of the issues that have been going on and we've definitely had a very United stamps from Max UCF about District spending and facilities are we were all in agreement on that and what we want to see is the district focusing their efforts but he's the district focusing their efforts on in wages employee benefits on because that's what's going to help retain our staff so we had a really long board meeting to kind of turn it around and have the same group I know we're going to discuss it tonight and hopefully looking at ways that we can increase Revenue to make those things happen but I would also stay in terms of our Redevelopment funds that Realty we need to start utilizing that to fix our camps if you heard from community members tonight the campuses are falling apart and there's some immediate needs that need to be spent and I know it's Kelly I really appreciate Kelly you know having a conversation with me about this and Steve and I have been talking through email and summer Vibe been talking about this it seems like forever need to do more and I'm not confident we can do both at the same time this is a district we by the way bargain the stipend for our dual language and our special ed teacher in June at a stop and it's not on the board reports by Gator which means it's unlikely that they could be paid even in November or something that Union had actually bargain back in GIF that's why excuse my skepticism that we can't do two things at once that we need to just focus all our efforts on one thing do that right and everyone to something else we continually in this District of build the plane as for flying it and we need to get away from that practice when we need to start with compensation for employees and with our facility because our facilities affect students are ephelides except all staff and affects everyone and that's where our big focus should be I finally want to say you have to all the members of the you now is the time to come together that the relationship between the board and the staff is at an all-time low I've never seen it this 18 years in this District and if we're to work together especially on a facilities bond in 2024 the Board needs to figure out a way to repair that image with the staff the district is attempting to do it through this morale survey been worked on it's time for the board to step up to the plate and figure out how is the Board of Education going to repair this terrible awful relationship in the way our staff feels about the Board of Education this time thank you superintendent report we are honored to have the president of Mac see mr. Los Angeles County dr. rice has served as an athletic director dean of students assistant principal principal data services coordinator coordinator CB is direct Adjunct professor and a published peer-reviewed author she now serves as our CTE coordinator please join me in welcoming dr. Robert Quinn to address the board address some continuing the discussion of facility and facility projects and budgets and all that I don't have a detailed report tonight because I want to get all the information down accurately so starting next meeting on October 25th we will be presenting a regular agenda item on every board meeting to share what facility projects are happening which has been completed timelines budgets all that kind of stuff it's a big list and I realize that you know what I meant a few of them during my report during a random board meeting it doesn't really do justice everything that's going on in the district so I want to make sure we can actually present that in a public setting where everybody can review all the information will also be posting it on the website I'm making sure it's publicly accessible to everybody and since we're doing it as an official agenda item they'll be a review that too but I do want to share is just I mentioned a lot of the projects that are going on but without getting into the deep classrooms in the ceiling tiles and HVAC and all that going on I do want to mention really briefly the budget side of it because I know there's been a lot of discussion about that right now the current list of ongoing projects has a budget of a little over 30 million dollars we have three different funds that go towards facility projects one is a capital facilities developer fees at the money we get from this city for devel the other one is a county school facilities fund he gets usually matching grants or other state grants to go toward modernization and construction and then the big one is the Redevelopment of money that we get from the city for redevelopment give me a Redevelopment the total of those three accounts along with what we expect to receive this year is a little over 34 million dollars so right now we have a surplus in our facility project budget. about four million dollars some of that will be taken with some of the projects we have on our list that haven't been cost it out yet not a huge amount but a little part of it so we do have some breathing room in the difference between our current facilities and our budget so again I know it's not necessarily all that helpful for me to just throw out numbers like that so starting next month next meeting will make sure to share that out on a nice presentation form that I can have for everybody to the other item I just wanted to share a really quick Mr ronchetti was on there earlier as a present of Maxi also happens to be our director of Safety and Security and he has arranged to change our security officer uniform it should be more approachable to have our officers more approachable to our students getting rid of the black official-looking uniforms and going more with an informal blue polo shirt and khakis type uniform it doesn't necessarily have a badge but it seems to USB logo we're just trying to make sure our students feel comfortable interacting with our security officers so I'm happy to announce a death going forward as soon as we can receive those deliveries thank you rain to do some Nexus Suzuki I just want to double back and and and and and and the public had an STD emergency sometime the urgencies of addressing facility concern and this Administration is committed to begin working on the all of the all of the issues all at once to the extent we may have to inconvenience to some of our students to move them out and then looking at the bestest if we were to remove things but we are to begin our work as soon as we can line up with the with the bidding and and and and the timeline for more information will be forthcoming including a share database that we will back all of the work orders moving forward including at the end point where we reach out to the members of the school district will have to initiate it the work order to make sure that we what we accomplished at met their expectations a lot of the other infrastructure including to the formatting of reporting and accountability will be will be shy with the board beginning October 26th may I take the few minutes of the next few minutes and share that with Miss Alec on for his report to the board thank you mr. Tran I just a couple of items to share the first is that we're making good progress on the sustainability coordinator job description we're trying to strike a balance between the sustainability focus on the educational is so I'll be meeting with us and Dreamcast the way to talk about different aspects of the job description and look at that and try to find a good balance that's going to work best for a school district and that will be coming to the next school board meeting I'm in addition we had a really good for a session negotiations with Ace we were able to agree on a moving forward with 3:21 move forward with an increase of salary salary ranges we're really pleased about that making good progress on that and we're looking forward to negotiations with ccsp thank you and if I could just add one item to the HR report every year around the November holiday of Veterans Day I need for substitute teachers tend to spike and we were able to anticipate our last year and we will we are in the planning to make sure that we pre schedule a substitute teacher so that we could have, did the rising and Institute needs on the on the Thursday be I think there's certain Thursday is it's a Veterans Day right before the Friday so what will keep that hopefully we will meet that challenge and not having to scramble for substitute teachers and if I may take the next few minutes and offer to them to dr. Smith to share some Loper report to the board good evening board members I'm so pleased to be with you and the community this a couple things from the DEA division last Thursday I was invited to be the keynote at the high schools Parent affinity group mixer it was well-attended representing a broad section of the community book about structuring Affinity groups and some practices using a model from the Oakland Unified School District which has led the state on so many aspects of the eei work we participate survey to determine what was their understanding about their role within Affinity groups and their belief systems and their role was to advocate for themselves and their group 20%. They were supposed to advocate for others and 40% didn't quite know that is a perfect mixed plan moving forward with the high school to schedule for training sessions within the cultural proficiency framework which will be our guiding and grounding research-based district-wide another key piece according to Easter Seals you cannot have equity and diversity without him and inclusive practices and implementation we have assembled a working task force consisting of general and special and Educators along with our partner and consultants in Los Angeles County Office of Education Cal State Northridge and our cellphone very productive meeting today where we established and working Norms expectations in problem of practice to be blunt we have to deconstruct the misconceptions and including 1.0 trained extensively both Jeanette and sped teachers because inclusion is a joint effort even though there's a misperception that it's Justin special education the rollout 2.0 under consideration is adopting the framework of the California Department of Education and the supporting inclusive practices blueprints that is the emerging blueprint funded by the state to ground our work and inclusion 2.0 want to follow that model and their blue which is based on featured system as Foundation we have much of that in place of Universal Design for Learning framework to improve teaching and learning across the board for week 2 get this right with the prevailing research data and understanding what is right to do for our students so this is a collaboration and task force because I'm extremely proud of and and happy to be where we sent a group stove are there some pieces and I know we talked about a comprehensive plan and we started that really putting some pieces too. And that'll happen before we eat bring back the admin right so those are two things that I wanted to share with the board tonight thank you but I could also add to Quick item inside regarding to the opioid and and the reason delete the alarms on. Student overdose on campuses in the state department as far as the LA County Office of Education descending up price of the high school and for in case of an emergency use that we have to supply the district is looking at securing additional supplies for a middle and possibly even one Elementary School Whitney understanding of the of the Halloween coming up the staff to help service has stopped and on dr. Smith and director Montes will be working on an awareness information piece to be sent out to a family with translation the presence of certain poisonous frogs in our community and in a state as well as in the County of LA and Zack has a great concern so what will looking forward to share that with the board soon that's why thank you thank you mr. stay at that we had more students that attended this homecoming than any past years in this house has three witches sorry we have the UCLA blood currently we have 72 sign-ups out of 120 so if y'all want to see how many students I want to donate blood just come to the ASP room October 21st we have a home game kickoff is at 7 and also on October 21st during school will have a wheelchair basketball assembly that is all hello everyone so I just wanted to let you know that any issue but I'm about to address have already been addressed with Doctor Cooper and we come to some agreement so I can't be going around the school but I just wanted to let you know why it's doing Tapas de Cristobal lgbtq students have been a little bit concerned with gender-neutral bathrooms saying that they weren't open or that you're not able to use them because they're too far classes and there's only two around the whole campus is so they believe that it will be if it's possible to open another one it will be grade also above the dressing room for transgender or lgbtq students this is the facility he hasn't been really well that during the school year they found pieces on it and it was really difficult to get it clean in 2 weeks to be able to clean it and that there still a tattoo couldn't change during those two weeks and lost credit stranded PE they have also been talking about janitors not doing their job but Anna specific still ain't came today during my club and told me that it wasn't because they couldn't do it or dishwashing because they I want to do it but it's because it's really short staff with generous and they're the only this small amount we have it's doing all the job and they feel like it's too much for them and the I'll still complaining about the wages being low and it's going to be too cold for them to keep up with that kind of wage and hygiene dispensers on the bathrooms female students not working either they're not letting their products down and been female students are not able to use them and that's all fine thank you thank you if I could ask you a question but when we go back and see if he has available and you said you did say you've discussed all these with the principal and are they all being addressed I am mostly about dead bathrooms and the PE dressing room and do everything in her power and possible be able to fix them again they just a little bit of problems with students also vandalized in the bathrooms and making it difficult for them to keep working on it if you go back and see if Andrew Scott his tactical I can you hear me now okay so hello my name is Andrew and I'm the current vice president alongside Yumi CCMS and we're very grateful to be a representative of the Middle School and overall we're really excited because tomorrow we have our first it's tomorrow International walk to school day so we having like walk to school day almost what is it exactly we will be doing our walk to school day almost scan and what the people will be doing is walking to school and going to the front gate and we will be giving almost a reward to the people who walk almost to encourage and the decline of pollution stuff like that another event that will be sharing about is the Latin X music at lunch so this was in C'est La Vie next Hispanic Heritage Month and we would play different genres of cultural music three times a week in the month of September we grouped up around three people each group so we had about twelve groups in total prison genre we received many positive feedback about students to enjoy this and so we do hope to continue the celebration our next event coming up as for Halloween it will be October 27th and it is the Haunted Hallway and is one of our most popular events and we will be doing a theme of clowns this year it is simply a dark hallway with a sbstudents inside trying to scare children it's really fun and it's open to the public I'm in a final event that will be sharing is our very first noted if Amelia this was open to the public and we had multiple vendors of All Sorts such as food and decor and you still had many performances of Folklorico dancers we played music and Bliss also we also received many positive feedback from this event I want to make sure I have a cut anybody off that's all star student representative the board and I was too bright are you coming we're going first board I don't know everyone who went but she participated in the activation October and today is highlights I joined her today for about 4 hours where we visited several classrooms including Mr Lodo's Abbott class Miss Rivera's English 9 college prep class has mismanaged restorative Circle that I really enjoy just sort of been a fly on the wall for the restorative Circle Dr Young and Miss produce ethnic studies collab doctor tonnos financial math class mr. white sports medicine and mr. Darius game design in the tech center walking the grounds with her I can't help but notice all of the things that have already been pointed out the facilities is something that I know we're talkin about it's going to be on the agenda but I also would love for us at some point discuss or have another presentation about the AVID program seeing it in action. I heard a presentation about it last year but seeing it in action today twice we we have to go, it's just incredible and it benefits so many students but in order to do that there needs to be more sections more teachers more opportunities for that type of support especially as we move towards expanding rigor and opportunities for AP and access to dual enrollment students will need that space where it's okay to ask questions and learn from your peers and collaborate in that way so I just really wanted to hang High School staff for welcoming make me there today some of the public comments that we heard we don't have to discuss this right now course we can't but I do think we need to revisit an agreement as a board on trial and when and who will respond to emails because in the past there are times when board president would respond there other times when board members would respond and then sometimes and all honesty if it's addressed to the board but also staff I don't respond right away because I don't have a guard at our names are you no information to give so I would love for us to have some clarity around that because I don't think one person needs to receive six different emails but I do think there should be some kind of clarity on when they can expect a response and from home maybe I'll stay. and to answer your future agenda items I mother plus whatever 1234 the committee update it was we did have a discussion the Labor Management partnership there was discussion about it our committee meeting and we do need to address that that is something that is urgent and the need is there we have students who need a space by Cobra park right now in high school campus thank you mr. transformation work orders and making sure that there's a fish are two-faced for the sake of spite of ministers knowing when to expect projects to be completed and also we're level of accountability that we haven't had in the past also thank you to the students for highlighting the issues with the gender-neutral bathrooms the dressing rooms hiding machines for mistreating people I appreciate the doctor for his taking this information and responding but I think that there's only so much a site administrator can do child support from Gordon District leadership and so I want to take responsibility for some of that and make sure that we continue to highlight those issues until their address and address to once and for all and that's all I am thank you yes thank you okay are you going to I am going to try to be brief but I do have a couple questions based on things that have come up from the comments from the public as well as other questions that I've had skating so I'd like to take a few minutes first to engage with cabinet by my doctor back are you mentioned this super cool thing with dr. young and and dr. Cooper applying for a pilot for best practices for AP courses for African American students I think those are the things that I heard that I didn't I understand I was wondering if you could restate because it sounds exciting canoe course free it will be so there are several steps are. would have to take place now but they've been accepted into the pilot and I can put it in the Friday memo the link so you can look at the overview but it is super exciting that the in the second round stifle was accepted in this patient and this opportunity for our students in this new AP course work so we're on our campus hear that everyone will teach that the curriculum exist and it's 80 what it's it's 80 and I want to get it exactly right it is when we look at the exact tile cuz I don't want to misquote it is and I'm not sure who's going to keep it just so I can picture that that you know what Supreme design it's 80 African American studies pilot okay studies that's important I think I heard students might be which is also exciting so I heard most people talking about Styles and I heard a number 750,000 tiles being Rivers latest and could we get clarity on that recommendation in the facility master plan was to replace all 7 $50,000 100 750000 ceiling tiles in the district we are not going to do that so the idea was to find an alternate solution once we pull those tiles down what doing the ceiling we've been looking at that in the meantime we're just going to start pulling them all down and then deal with them the ceiling afterwards course we always do Hazard mitigation and hazard investigation and so we will be aware of any expresses concern this worse and I also wanted to but the learning math Labor Management Institute folks who are joining us the board is is invited to participate participate at some point is that correct the model is for the shoe Consultants work with the dish partnership as we need monthly but there is a a series of training that is scheduled for to take place soon across the entire district and every department and every school at the partnership level we had talked originally about designing and tell him I training for board leadership level as well as a shorter version of it but the structure red44 out for the Labor Management student our district Bishop is to members of the board as I'm not going to stay participant but more of an overall ABS observation roll and so I'm not sure exactly whether we have a participation in the Ella Mai now moving into the month of June the LMI conference in San Diego is open and I would like very much to read land for as many of our members of the board to attend training in in that context in the month of June of 2023 their normal model has two board members and other districts currently we have one that is attending that there are call District PD is hosted by these Labor Management Consultants that no potentially board members could attend that is correct. Chan's in different day so that we will not be I'm violating the brown act provision so there will be opportunities for board members to participate in the training set up for district partnership organization across the whole District but the key the key one to encourage All of Us site leaders and teachers and remembered is the the June 2023 conference in in San Diego and I am sure there's another one going on and I will be organized in the month of February two pretty please I don't have the key the key information on that one yet but the training is almost ongoing year after year after year okay so I would like to I would like to bring it up later under board business regarding board members participating before June I appreciate you Jim to 2023 that that is important but I want to figure out how we can be I'll bring it over later when we have our board business conversation and then the next question is we to two meetings ago we talked to inclusion consultant contract and we were told it that would be brought back up this is a separate item do we know when that will come back to us and then we can just hear about what those conclusion Consultants I believe you were talking about the inclusion facilitators so we are moving forward with our contract contractor originally to teach so I'm sorry if I'm using the wrong let me know let me clarify the legal contract is separate and apart from what used to be to teach is now with the Cal State University Northridge and actually we had them in the building today it's part of our our our working meeting so what has what has happened here to four is a lot of separate and apart communication and conversations with various stakeholders over various things in the communication has misconception frankly and so what we're trying to do while we're still driving the bus is fixed the bus and get their voices on the bus so the California Department of Ed I'm with the supporting inclusive Services they're like the Brain Trust of the statement in terms of inclusion is working now with laco as a technical advisor at Laker with working with us so in the building is some of the great inclusion specialist that were formerly with to teach I'm in the building dr. Garner who has extensive background and inclusion is in the building by specialist staff is in the building we're trying to do is put this together if if I could and I'm just going to be frank if I could push pause on everything but supporting our kids right now I would while we try to get this together because deconstruct many misconceptions trained extensively and then reconstruct and do it well at the same time we have to continue to support our stupid conversations with teachers stations with parents conversations with the community and everyone has a different sense of what it is we need to clarify and that's why we have so I mentioned in the markets in the freezer we have the best in the state in the building when I leave together to work on this I have a feeling my question I sent a different message that I was intended it to I do get on that thank you so much I'm really eager for us to see the contract which we were assured I will actually directed the question to mr. Tran because he assured us that we would see it because our previous contract for inclusion Consultants how much scrutiny so I just want to be sure that we can have a very transparent process with respect to the contract for the Consultants about that was rude that was the ask was regarding that I wanted to share that information so other the sea sign contract is being flushed out as of today the lake oh I'd like to bring them both so we can have even have a comprehensive lunch but I might come back stop the next meeting yes I I would like to honor the running but the concept that we have in the upcoming contract by d a c first and then getting input from rain in the contacts trying to mimic the the replicate the process that we did when we took to teach to the boards several years back so more to come and then I'll keep the board in informed and I will add to that which is actually related to the to the preliminary response that you already gave me is just that I think that the board will agree that we're in process with our full inclusion and and so I hear that there are a lot of there's some things to undo and some diocese to interrupt and I think we're aware of that and acknowledge it and also I just want to be sure I just feel this sense of starting over and I want to hear from the Department a little bit about progress to like both of the new emphasis were putting on it because it's urgent and over do I really appreciate that part in the expertise in the Brain Trust sounds really exciting so thank you so much for all of that but also we could hear from the Department about how far we've come and because we are in our third year of inclusion Consultants is my understanding so I would love to have a little bit of a picture of that worse you know this far into a this long process as we as we get closer to seeing that administrative regulation as well as the framework that you spoke with you earlier but I'm also eager to see maybe I needed to sort of structure our conversation along the line of the next phase 2 no inclusion approach first three years we did establish quite a bit of ground work in place we needed to deeper than that and we taking the deeper conversation at the same time building practices to address the needs of our students who are in the in the inclusion classes right now Mission item at a future meeting maybe the very I'd suggest that's where we leave it and just bring them to hold a conversation when public has a chance to be here as well it'll be more interested in the topic will know we're going to talk about it and so forth yeah so I was asking for two things for the Conch to come back when when white least we see it it sounds like soon and for an update in addition to from our the system superintendent from the Department of special ed so that we can have a sense of the progress within the context of all of the new initiatives that were take thank you for clarifying okay so moving on to more reporting types item type items I attended the equity advisory Council Retreat and it was such a fantastic experience I just want to express gratitude towards dr. Smith and dr. Smith's stuff for Antoinette Steward and superintendent who is a parent who has previously facilitated. Weiser a council work and I just thought it was very productive relationship building and laying the foundation for what's coming a parent night at which doctor Smith was the keno and that was wonderful thank you so much for the classroom grecians in in the first iteration at Culver City High School yesterday thank you dr. Cooper for inviting the board in I understand the classroom observations are already underway practice but that the board is now being in Didn't You observe as well and I I really appreciate it. I'm learning a great deal about our practices at the high school and there will be more to come in that I visited yesterday and I'll be visiting more on October 18th and the high school Culver City High School adpa performed at the rock and roll Festival on Saturday and it was a fantastic experience for those in the audience and I could tell that the students were enjoying themselves and we're so grateful for all of the ways of the city in the district merge their interest and enthusiasm for art and in all forms and so it was a really nice representation from our students. first of all and it finally I do want to make a comment about yesterday being indigenous people's day and one way to do so would be to require an activist tonight turn spoken about me recently so indigenous musician and activist Buffy sainte-marie who was born on the plains Cree First Nation Reserve in Saskatchewan has written and sung about the struggles of Native Americans and First Nations for decades and she worked with a man like an Indian movement began of foundation for American Indian education and what's interesting about her is that she spends a great deal of a zoo other marginalized populations of course talking about how there is a lot of pain and try, but that we need to spend a great deal of time talking about positive and especially my children and educating children about indigenous people I would like to share a story that was shared which is that I did not produce team sports were invented by indigenous people on this side of the water these are her words I'm quoting now and the rubber ball to and Arenas with Gold Coast at either end and bleachers for The Spectators and protective equipment likes filter pads and helmets with animals it sounds like the NFL so whether it's hockey or baseball or LaCrosse or football season tell your friends and celebrate us indigenous people if we all think about it at all we think about is one side or the other we just go in circles to remember to paddle on both sides of the canoe that's how you get somewhere I will leave it at that thank you for is that what you want okay so I'm going to at 22nd and a couple of my board members because I feel it's very important I'm going to start by saying thank go to doctor Uber ask for scheduling the board and Pearson cabinet members to do the observation it was fascinating to walk through the school in the chairs and see the craft of our teachers and I also want to add a second to what Brian said that yes you do see where facilities needs to be maintained and I also saw the work the festivities is currently undergoing for example of the Technology Center was a beautiful space the library was a beautiful space with new furniture and more collaborative furniture for the students and video game console so that that students can create video games and and I I want to I just wanted to highlight that these two things are going extinct that we need more work at the facilities and ice the work that is happening so thank you to everyone who is working hard on our facilities and to doctor Cooper was so gracious to give half of her day to stewardess in I also want a second my colleagues who talked about the Ella Mae training I believe strongly that this out of my training we all our Partnerships need to be and I understand that furnish it is a firm that that is specific to committees however we are all in Partnership working to help more students thrive in you take them and that's what I'm referring to this if we are in Partnership to working I also want a second that we need to we all need to get this out of my drain I also want to step in the discussion around responding to emails there is a something that our board is missing and that is called a defective board member handbook and I really want to us to put that on the Forefront of creating this handbook because that such handbook could guide our policies are bylaws our day-to-day practices so that we shopped ineffective board such as who responds to emails leads the discussion on evaluations who the chair finds who what is our rotation of governance and so I do want to say that that is something that we really need to agendize creating an effective board handbook I am and looking forward to discussing the Clover Park school and I hope that this discussion of Clover Park is considered when we discuss graduation requirements because it seems like those two things can come together I I heard about now I'm talking about the partnership committee that are only there is only one partner one board member that extends of partnership I would like for us to revisit that hopefully in the in the new cycle we were in visit what the am I recommend as having to board members there to be Liaisons or I know there was such a simple full thought to the word of participant because we're not hard to Spence we are liaison and I also heard from our labor partners that the board needs to figure out how to build the relationships and I would like to see if anybody is open to Second this and agenda is being The discus of the morale survey and some practical guidance how we can utilize this pool this assessment to guide us in rebuilding relationships and I would like to put it on the agenda so that it happened so we remember Since U S that place I'm interested I want to hold on a second only because I understand that there is some delicacy with algae discuss tomorrow I'll survey with staff so I actually looking for guidance maybe from superintendent or cabinet and if it there's a maybe Connor if you could advise us on is this the kind of survey that just comes out big flat to the board first or needs to be rolled out with some real sensitivity and because I do want to  on it but I just want to be respectful about I didn't understand last year that there were a lot of feelings that were involved in discussing the discussing the survey so I just want to be respectful of stuff emotional well-being and just respond very briefly we have had this discussion and our partnership meetings of the discussion will continue so we're talking about how best to roll this out being sensitive as you mention but also being affected in terms of it making a difference with the effectiveness of our employ I would also add to that that the survey was a result of discussions in the partnership the partnership initiated the survey and I think it would be productive because the board should have access to the results and staff have access to the results I don't know if the public needs access to the results as much as the public needs to hear our response to what is in that report and how we're going to take an action to address those concerns and I would rather focus on that rather than the actual content of the of the report and the results of it I've got three more the new board needs to be very aware of the results of the survey and so forth so I think it's important if it's going to be presented to the board to make sure that it's done in such a way daddy where is on the border of the month from now he's getting all of that information in. and we're not going to penalize you for Behavior but then we set you up almost for failure because we know that your parents I may not be able to put you in an after-school program but also may not be able to pick you up right away and you can't walk home so this is sort of unrelated but if we're saying you can't be here excessively earlier excessively late what excessive and what can we do in a conversation for another time I think what can we do to provide services so that students are not pushed out to the curb that is a great question I was at the middle school couple weeks ago with the end of the day we had quite a few young people in the front and one of the administrators mention you know I think for safety reasons we need to really think about how we're going to approach that and have a safe space or something and we're students to participate with in for safety reasons we want to let parents know up front that you're responsible for getting kids here and getting in and Kiss only freshly getting kids to school my mom is really in for you one day and evening directing one test was kind of ambiguous as you say it really about for safety reasons you know we just don't want Apartments to get in but once you're here there are fewer ways that you would have your permit revoked and looking at this this is about to just run from it but at least two larger conversations about the growth of our city and having to leave that room for new development housing where more families are going to be moving in and you mention 30% of our student body are on interdistrict permits and wanting to cry space for those permits while still leaving room for the growth of our city and making sure that we can actually work with our staff that are not teaching and classrooms are overflowing I think Justin respond sort of a tree emptying Maybe. missed call but I know that there has been some anti permit student sentiment and I've heard it more from certain family members that are only then with our staff but they're made be back within our staff and I think it's important for us to be mindful of the legitimacy and the concern about the class sizes and inviting you no more students unpermitted and not having room for the growth in our city and having conversations about our own facilities not repairs only but planning on expanding our campus footprint so that we can actually house more students but I think that's one point that I think we need to be mindful because I love having students were from all over our communities outside of Culver City and into the city comes from not just racial and ethnic diversity it lends to the richness in our district but I also want to make sure that when they're here along with our own students we can serve everyone in classrooms that are not overcrowded and then the other thing is I know there are only two ways that a student can have their permit revoked but that was part about tension is what concerns me like there is a process that's listed here where if a student is going to have a permit revoked they will meet with the superintendent or doesn't but the concern is between the suspension and which means I'm asking for a conversation about our suspension policy also has a way of getting students on permits I understand I understand the actual code for suspension that we would consider is pretty extreme it is not the sort of perspective in what was just respected not respect this is like stolen property this is Firearms this is sexual these are pretty extreme and violations that we would be no we want to also protect and maintain the Integrity of our school so when he mentioned the paucity and size limits and making sure that all students get to get the benefit you know forward maybe we need to make that a little more explicit because that's where we were going to so we've been and not so much director but it's been recommended and it is something our partnership Partners I feel strongly about teachers who come and go. Just teachers. come to work for us to have the benefit of having their children in our school of continuing in our school we need to make room for new residence because they within the boundaries of the school we have to take on a Cassidy bases there were I don't know how many pills. made a very conscious choice to not do that for my children so the fact that we have a school district that has decided to let every single kid it would be fine if we have the space infrastructure and resources to do it correctly what you have been doing is assigning let's bring everyone in let's make everything diverse and Equitable what's up which is a great idea totally for it except now you have over 40 kids in the classroom and it is overcrowded and it is unacceptable and so you've created now a ridiculous system work kids who live here are being hurt in ways not the slightest difficulty but sometimes physically unfortunately and apparently but you are doing a disservice to the kids actually are in the district live I agree if you're an employee of course your kids to come here you're ready coming here that's ridiculous and inconvenient to do otherwise and I have no problem with other kids being permitted in but you have 34 you have a building that was made for 1500 kids do you have over 2,000 in 30% of them don't even live anywhere near Culver City you've admitted that they hang out outside campus off and getting into trouble don't have after school activities doing them a service how is any of this positive for those kids how is it positive for are overwhelmed and overworked teachers you claim you're trying to teach to all these different levels in the classroom when they have over 40 kids I cannot imagine being a teacher in a classroom with that many kids trying to teach at multiple levels you also have a city pushing to have over 3,000 families move in over the neck 8 years and more possible you don't have the space you don't have the resources and I think this whole thing is insane you have to cut the permit because you cannot continue to function otherwise and do not give us the money that is the least of her issues and I appreciate and understand do you need the budget we need to protect our kids and educate them properly and keep them safe and you can't do that when you come resources how many kids is it come from diversity a handle on your own district and do what's best for the district it's not right to let everyone in I'm sorry it just isn't I'm tired of this I think I think it's important to point out that and when and so it's always speculation when people point out that students who live in Culver City or being burned either physically Miss Sanders worth crowded and you have taken from your comments Miss McBride after that mister long please hi okay so first of all I definitely you know want to you commend the district on changing the policies to do I've always felt that you know once we accept the kid into our district that's our kid no matter where they left so I think in terms of them were talking about in our kids that are in the system they should be treated the same way as are our kids that live here as well so I'm very happy to see that even more static about employees because we have had employees denied permits we had an assistant principal at the high school 2 years ago whose son was denied a permit and couldn't come here we had a teacher this year who is denied a permit for we're able to help them through the appeal process but that was real that our own employees were being denied permits into our own District I would definitely like to with staff a little bit more of this capacity and the CBA because as the leader of the Union that's the first I'm hearing about this where we have capacity in rcba I'll be interested to explore that a little bit further finally I do agree that you know you need to how's your students as well too which is why you're spoken to view board members and other people in the district is so you know we do need to look long-term at our facilities and that's why I was more concerned about our rental facilities may be turning into something else you know weed Culver City continues to grow we probably need to reopen an elementary school I argue we probably need to reopen or open a new Middle School like yesterday call the number we're close to 1604 the middle school and and that's just too many students so your capacity can also mean you know you at the high school for example building up and maybe you know creating more classrooms I'm sure I'll leave that because we do want to see relief of plastic because I agree that doesn't benefit anyone to have large class sizes and that's why with with our building we have to be really smart about what we're doing with our funds for building and that's why I'm a broke like I said maybe building the high school up a little bit more you know looking at space to add a new middle school or add another elementary school because those are real concerns as well to it just real quickly on that video that Kathy brought up in it I thought it was terrible it was a two-part video on the first part made a lot of sense about facilities but the second part completely lost me kind of attacking permits tubes thank you okay so I know that Mr Freddy got interrupted so maybe I just think it's important for us to remember that data that relates to students and their discipline and 25 over 25 years we can go to the agenda at our last meeting we there was it was a long meeting and there was significant input from the community today and in the board we've been working now for the last couple weeks trying to understand what that input was fully comprehend it and then work to address many of the comments in the direction that I think was given to us and I'm hoping this presentation this evening reflects that revised Focus are updated approach that we will be talking about includes the Strategic real estate analysis that that talk to the sustainable Revenue stream ongoing revenue for the district Outreach and input from the community and Bruce will talk to her revised approach there and then finally we'll talk about how we play do Explorer kind of the different properties and the funding and not the funding that the properties and the revenue and Chris will talk to that stupid work that we anticipate we heard last last time we were in front of you that there was an overarching need for a comptometer understanding of the lead and the purpose and the potential benefits that a revenue stream will bring the the district and that really is a lot of what we will be I'm focusing on you know over the course of the next four to five months if we are given this assignment specifically Arbor buys proposal best that we initiate a collaborative Community engagement process over that period of four to five months start conversations to build a common understanding bad and determination of goals and in the vision of the words get qualitative input from the community examine the revenue opportunities by exploring utilization of your alternate sites building upon information that is in the your facilities master plan we will not though really be focusing on potential uses we think of this is you know this whole exercise at this bullet point is the quantitative analysis and then we will bring options to the board and our findings back to the board after we hear from the community after we do our analysis combine this into different options that the board consider for next steps do you know this of our effort is going to be kind of this one leg of a three-legged stool you know this is really a goal by looking at at this additional Revenue weighted robes called the pie that is available overtime to the district to utilize and you know that growing up I brought from your real estate home as it is you you are rich in real estate holding you know the way you choose to use your funds we will certainly be hearing about this over the next four to five but that will also serve who will be part of the next phase and you know whether you use the money ultimately for childcare subsidies for the faculty and staff housing to expand after school programs whatever it is that will be a discussion at will take place with the community participants there are the other two goals that were very much aware of you know ultimately we strongly important we obviously heard that but there is probably a way that you know the monetization reconfiguration and and pressing the salaries not only can can be a take take place while we undergo this effort but it's you know some of the benefits of the shepherd could approve today's other District goals and then I should say that when you look when one looks at you know a sustainable income for the district on the next slide what you what we need you to do is provide for you as your future real estate analysis and and I real estate plan a couple weeks ago and you know that focuses on you're underutilized land and focuses on ways to maximize your real estate holdings options to maximize your real estate holdings and in that is a different exercise than the question we heard that two weeks ago is how does that differ from a facilities master plan you know your facilities master plan I really served a different purpose it was take a look at your school facilities are your educational facilities determine what is added to what can be improved to the community as to what they they want and then make the recommendations for for really your your basic facilities that address you know they were looking the site improvements for the the building without the interior building building systems at ffo furniture and fixtures and equipment and security so that's where the focus of the facilities master plan was so this is Jesus real estate plan is quite a different animal but it doesn't mean that we won't be looking at your facility master plan to determine what's what's the what's your plans are and see if there's any changes so with that I'd like to turn the discussion over to Bruce Gucci and the hat I am talked a bit about the Outreach and how we can approach the stakeholders and what we hope to accomplish with the the stakeholder search for 8 a.m. thank you hi Bruce the coochie here really pleasure to be able to have a few minutes with you this evening at what we've been looking at it's really a mission here at the Outreach that's really the kind of folks think strategically and kind of collaborate inclusive late you know we really want to look at how to work with you all to explore opportunities for the district's ability could be sustainable Revenue opportunity to generate Revenue but also to do it really consistent with the district's in a fundamental purpose is merely ensuring kind of high-level opportunities for learning for students so I'm just going to walk a little bit through our conditioning working I think that's collaborative Community engagement process we see the thing very proactive you know the key to being effective is really how do you set the stage for success how do you convene and we're proposing on how to convene and bring people that's rich diversity of Culver City Unified School District together and we're kind of piece of it is really setting up and stab project task force members to the union leader in the community members are more instead of three districts. but really the goal is to reflect the diversity of interest and perspectives that comprise the your district and you know what we really are looking at in terms of what would be the agenda through these meeting across the sea I have two parts the first part that what I was talking about you know was how do you start these technical conversations and also had to do the collaboration and on these technical conversations it's really looking at the opportunities and challenges portfolio analysis of a long-term Revenue that needs looking at you know an inventory of assets and opportunities building on the work that you've done with your abilities master plan you and then looking at these different both in terms of butter really need to be preserved for educational uses but there might be there look at areas that could be better utilized or potential areas for change take a look at heart but really most importantly really is a every part and you know I think the key thing is you know how to build a really a common understanding you know both the purpose of this after you know Phyllis potential range of benefits from the Deptford I think it's them learning process on that I think this the second thing is that they are awesome the team and also for your member your stakeholders of your passwords to really hear and understand that we need to understand the context of these different places yeah besides Community issues or concerns or are you know what the opportunities are for changing those things and you do and then from doing that the next part really we need to open up these conversations really you don't understand are the common in the Virgin perspectives and that reflected different backgrounds that people have you know part of part of that you know how do you identify with a common values are in a trust those priorities are and we want to look at developing a game plan really sure ultimately / defining a kind of community principles are priority form kind of building a train working season 4 how to go forward we also want to hold you know what town hall or proposing that we can have a broad cross-section of your diverse Community to help serve a new she ate and hear input and feedback purpose of potential benefits concerned with advancing such a program and then really the goal of the really package up to come back to the board you know what really is the view here that your your product community in your task force have about the opportunity and what are the considerations in them you know both on a real estate point of view but also through the paucity of The Undertaker I have to do the next step and what the support and interest level for doing that and you really the goal is to kind of clarify where you all want to go based on the findings of the analysis you know what are the challenges I have moved to the next step what is it then then what will be the benefits when you when you get there so really what's the roadmap to success so that's kind of been looking at you all to that place we're really looking forward to working with all of you elaborate on advances I think it's going to be able to District school so that's kind of the plan for the Outreach tell me the hands now over to Chris and he can give you a little more Keith pills text Christy I'm going to talk about the exploratory fact-finding part of this Alex just want to get some information gathering and and preliminary analysis District in a size window comforter or uses has been predetermined are we haven't we don't we don't know what the answer is going to be before we really big into the analysis initial scope that we've revised from the previous meeting to look at a narrow range of developments in areas and potential uses minutes early to stablish the Baseline know there's a lot of things that go into that it's really depends on the property by property taxes by Eclipse building in general plan analysis plans or some site designing some cost analysis another another quantitative test of analysis I'm certainly want to meet with the Culver City Planning staff true that the timelines and what would be needed to move the project forward one thing to keep in mind about this this is the initial scope that conclusion who beat the women are a lot more due diligence to confirm feasibility was trying to talk about on the next slide after this initial scope and we would after we went out you don't have some preliminary findings after the input that Bruce talked about take all this back to the board expected and probably the end of q1 of next year vote on whether to continue with additional scope and that would be needed to confirm additional assumptions and foremost bring some things up to keep going potentially at that point explore some additional development rotting out what would look at it from the board and then getting into more of the due diligence to really confirm things that listens really depends on his private property by property what needed but typically when we work on these types of projects with Junior involved in looking at utilities and site analysis geotechnical and structural analysis is is is critical Phase 1 environmental site assessment is seized and cover if there are many environmental issues on the site market analysis for any proposed use architecture and planning conceptual design traffic and PD on the transportation demand management for them at traffic issues their construction cost estimating and value engineering that would be part of I think she needs after the initial scope and that's all we have for today so I'll stop there and we can open it up to questions thank you so I Russians can you Doug and let me know if we have people with answers curious to see if I'm curious if we given that we have a lot and it's 11 if we could do 2 minutes and also if we can allow the public comment to go first so so that we don't delay the public go first I want to be updated and our process in general in to keep those two 20 minutes or so what we're not why we intend to board otherwise is that sure we can do bubble gum at first we can set it in 2 minutes and we're going to cut it off when we had 20 minutes then but look at my questions first three speakers are Lynn Melissa and Lauren hi can I start just please by teachers don't want this you heard even in the last meeting a ton of teachers come I'm about it specifically and they're representing a much larger body doing this would only potentially serve a small fraction of those that you're claiming to serve in terms of teachers Revenue generation combined with affordable housing or impossible as a combined goal but they're pipedream paying $0.01 or study like this truly insane you know I've been speaking at length with we have a non-profit specifically focused on affordable housing called the decrypt group in our own backyard and there were even paying paying for this is ridiculous you can you can send out an RFP developers and they'll provide studies that's it no charge so paying for one is insane and for a study look at like in terms of how to use the real estate and as far as looking at other Workforce housing other options like teacher vouchers or other things benefit all teachers paying a real estate developer of completely inherently biased company to do a study is ridiculous we could use a survey monkey or something like that and do it for free our district real estate and property and Facilities Management expertise we can't even maintain our own facilities we need to hire more full-time staff just to manage it our current facilities are crumbling this is the massive decision I don't think we're voting on it I want to sure we're not moving on it this would be completely in contrast to the district's promise to not make any decisions with the current board I just I'm honestly truly disgusted or even consider it remotely considering doing this with all the reasons not to Melissa if you're not going to read my letter that I sent everyone into the minutes I request that you attach them to the minutes when you put them on the website this is inherently one of the stupidest ideas you guys have come up with a recently so kudos for outdoing yourself but the master plan you guys could give us all the real estate portfolio are so we can actually look at it and we can actually tell you what is even plausible I can take if your $2,000 right now you are not going to be able to build anything from Robert Frost or the ocg campus with housing and additional population that's most of your property unless you're hiding a bunch that don't know about the study cannot be done that is inherently biased and wants us to move forward I just it is just the worst idea so in the meantime if you really want to play with us Workforce housing idea NFL people who own that building reconstruct that you already have parking that's across the wall by Dona double dog dare you to find out how many people who work for the district actually want to live across the street from your school or on their school campus it is incredibly insane and then also asking people how they did with their stage project I think it was them that did that because really it will not become Workforce housing this whole thing is a sham and I am disgusted that were sitting here at ten 11 at night have this conversation again it is absolutely ridiculous so once again you should be ashamed of yourselves for not putting our kids first and worry about something that none of the teachers and staff want congratulations thank you Lauren you all can you hear me great thank you so I just really want to express my gratitude that the board earlier in the evening all the board members expressed a lot of interest in and support for the partnership and getting more involved in a partnership and I want to from that window reiterate Mr long said earlier we discussed this in the partnership last week and the overwhelming response from Max and Ace and the teachers was that not even looking at were interested in pursuing right now until we have a full moon now would be a complete waste of time horses in time for the partnership and also the doctor Levin last night I brought up two weeks ago was really interested in getting feed from the community stakeholders will their son right there again to partnership discuss this cabinet was involved in the conversation it was very very clearly emphatically stated that this is not something that we are even interested in pursuing at this time I really really hope that that commitment the partnership was not just words and that will manifest in action in the way that this proposal will be set aside at least inside thank you thank you I'm sorry I lost one of my Men followed by Patrick followed by aliens and then miss Grasso closer to the election then we were the previous meeting when many concerns were raised by various stakeholders that the current board would consider approving a financial decision without a full of five numbers or other action will not be taken tonight any approval of his contract between now and November 8th will be that much closer to the election is solely as a parent who has knowledge of PGA rules and bylaws outgoing PTA board may not vote on which is why budgets are not approved until the new board is he what are the contract is $500,000 or $100,000 it would lock the incoming board into a decision made by the outgoing board if his watching the legitimacy of that decision and this board will Western Elementary in my comments at a previous meeting with the way to retain staff in his district is to make them feel heard and supported and the way to get voters to approve a future bond for this project is to make them feel hurt and not kind of thank you at the previous discussion about the Brookwood presentation the goal of his product is not clear at all it was talked about variously as Workforce housing as market rate rentals and on house family's most people have not heard about until that evening it is not the community's fault for not understanding a goal since the goalposts seem to keep moving with a distinct lack of communications all stakeholders still the Optics of the current board pushing through even the First Financial step in a project at this time without a phone bored or ignoring the concerns and questions raised us far by boat staff and parents are not great and certainly not conducive to getting Community Support to pass a future bond for this project thank you thank you Patrick hi thank you board members for finally taking on this incredibly important issue for the entirety of the 12-year period than my children have been students at CSUSB teen diable teacher after bio future of leave the district. Because they don't like it here not because they don't believe in ccusd and its Mission and not because they didn't feel hurt and supported but because those teachers can't afford to live in Culver City and have grown tired of commuting Lawndale and Lancaster and every other more affordable Town far from here course all of those teachers who now are no longer teachers are no longer part of the ccusd partnership that either does or does not supposedly support housing for the sorts of teachers who previously couldn't afford to live here an hour are here no longer this housing crisis been costing us so many of our best teachers and staff members and it continues to do so and it's a CCSD board or partnership is in one single thing about it over these past twelve years I sure couldn't say what exactly that might be it's time to finally do something this step a portfolio analysis of the district's real estate assets and opportunities with only a first step is a necessary and concrete beginning toward finally stopping the Hemorrhage of ccusd teachers and staff the best time to do this was 12 years ago the second best time is now thank you thank you lien and then Kathy Grasso a good evening I understand that the contract is not to do any sort of housing or additional facilities but what concerns me is that one we only have four board members currently why Rush November is only a month away to your teachers and staff morale is so low right now yet in the last meeting you are trying to justify that teachers I'm leaving because of housing issue stop please stop with that because that's not true please run another survey and provide to stakeholders more data accurate data three your school site facilities are in need of me your work yet you would like to spend almost half a million dollars to do this study how about focusing on now first I understand fully that the board is trying to explore more ways to generate income for our school district instead of keeping up with the Joneses and trying to do what the other districts are doing how about taking care of your very own first like your teacher your stuff your students your families start listening to the teachers stop and start listening to the parents to because this is absurd I appreciate the board's thinking of the bigger scheme of things but at this moment I truly believe we need to focus on the more prayer matters that I mentioned earlier thank you thank you Miss grassland and we also have mr. long hi I want to okay you can hear me yes okay I want to thank dr. Levin for asking for this revision I I really appreciate it I think this is a better proposal obvious I spoke against it last time but I'm not against it right no I I think that I need more information which we don't have and what the big thing that's missing is the price tag and I don't like that we're going to vote on it next week without knowing the price the head of time I think that's a little bit for lack of better words Shady so I don't like that I I do think that if we can create a revenue stream for everybody knows real estate in California is a pre I'm always husband that something we should consider but someone mentioned that this can be done for free if that is the case we do need to do our due diligence and see if it can be we need a price tag and we need I really feel strongly that it should wait till we have the full board in place just because it is a huge decision that's all I have to say thank you thank you. I will quickly just concur with a lot of what Kathy said I mean I think the idea of exploring revenue streams is a great idea I want to know a price tag though because I definitely heard from some members of the community this could be done for free so I think explore all options right now super important to look at revenue streams because we need those we desperately need those revenue streams so I'd support that concept of looking at revenue streams and how we can maximize our real estate holdings I'd like to look at other options perhaps especially if there's a free option out there or a lower-cost option but the most important what is the cost of this particular option I'd also say let's not use antidotal evidence on why teachers are leaving because we actually have statistics on that we have statistics I'm not here in Culver City we have statistics on that Statewide why teachers are leaving so anecdotal evidence about teachers and how they left 10 12 years ago we can't use that lets you use real data which is why I say we should be serving stew now thank you we want to questions and comments from the board but I just want to enter checkers nothing serious questions to ask I just have one statement and I continue to be on my journey of I'm boarding and training by CSA and so today I had Financial Training and one of the things that they brought up today is that we are in a very critical moment in Educational Funding because of covid-19 are 100% or more than 100% fully funded and every aspect of our education system however the world is nearing a recession and according to the California Department of Finance an estimated Aztec Cherry Cola they they have put together a graph that says that we have five out of six indicate currently that are indicating that we will be moving into a recession and the near future and two three maybe four years for me is very simple I'm people for the opportunity for this to be further expanded in in detailed and I feel like today we need to be thinking about our future and thinking about future funding streams is crucial today we need to ensure that whatever the recession looks like that we have sufficient resources we have a plan B so when the federal and state funding stop blowing at 100% that we can supplement our resources I really appreciate our follow-up the public comment constructive feedback on how this contract can be further clarified detailed and explained is executed and I saw the plan that we're going to need members to execute this contract and so finally I I feel like it's something we need to be thinking today about the future the potential reception and finally I want to say is I continue to feel that it's important for us to be moving forwards the direction that we we set the board sets Direction and the contract does not it's for a hunt while I will let the advisers tell us what is the contract number because they did not stated but that was one of the public comment question that was sad and so I continue to feel that this is an important step that we need to take we need to continue to bring the community send the future goals that were that were setting forward and I I disagree that us not assessing a real estate Holdings today because we need to wait for a five board member is the right decision and this is literally an assessment of our assets that we can then determine how we are going to optimize them and whether we have four or five board members knowing what R-value is is important thank you that's what I like analogies and I'm going to use one and it may seem inappropriate but I don't have another way of explaining this I think part of the problem is no one knows what we're talking about at this point and it's like that game that you play when someone puts tough old cups / ball and they keep moving around and trying to tattoo and you can't figure out where the ball is that's how this feels right now because we were presented with something incredibly different in a very beginning there were board members putting out communication to the community that we were talking about affordable Workforce housing and market-rate housing and now we're being told scratch that forget you ever heard it this is about just a revenue stream but they're still a presentation with a slide that talks about potential Workforce house and I think part of the breakdown in the trust with the community is that we still haven't made it clear what we are explicitly talking about what were explicitly not talking about and I didn't appreciate that the presentation wasn't attached we knew that this was going to come back and the presentation that was given tonight was not attached so if you could bring up the presentation there's one page that I would like to bring up it's the page that actually shows the comparison of our facilities master plan provided and what this contract could potentially provide okay so that screen would be if I see it on the screen here it's the one where there's the a square in the green Square yes I'm looking at the screen on the computer the zoom it's the sustainable income for the district at page so it says opposed this outline on the left what's the city's master plan included I'm not sure if there has been a deep dive into our master plan and or the contract that we went into I swear this was created on the left on the right us focus on underutilized and potentially I have a reading class this potentially Surplus assets explain ways to maximize Holdings for long-term but if you go to the actual contract that we went into in 2019 bear with me this is from the contract and you can bring it up on board docs the contract at Culver City entered into the woods our group who created our facilities master plan on Final execution of the agreement with the district the architect shelves within the first week following execution of the agreement provides you know this detailed scope of work. Foods identify specific tasks including but not limited to interviews data collection analysis report preparation planning architectural programming Concepts and schematic design preparation and estimating as well as master plan level up a cost that are part of the work of the project architect shall also identify Milestones activities or Dade specific tasks responsibilities required completion times necessary for review and approval by the district by all regulatory it goes on to say review the developed work plan with the district and its representatives to familiarize them with the proposed task schedule and develop necessary modifications development of an updated facilities master plan that's the stuff part of this exhibit a in the contract architectural prepare for the district's review the update of facilities master plan as follows perform pre-designed of us has to establish appropriate guidelines around which and within the updated facilities master plan to be designed for former master plan level assessment of the project sites and all reasonable available District facilities and identify any deficiencies and existing buildings program and service areas usually Utility Systems in for telecommunications health and safety identify and address needs for additional or renovated facilities to accomplish the district's educational initiatives GSA codes pertaining to the proposed updated facilities master plan to identify issues relating to function directives and constraints imposed by applicable regulatory toast based on survey and Zapata graffiti data provided by the district and put into computer and development assisting master plan level conditions if requested in as an extra server develop the strictest standards for facilities in construction including but not limited to designation of any material trade according to the subdivision and assist district with review of Dr updated facilities master plan incorporating Provisions as necessary and at no extra cost to districts with presentation of the proposed updated facilities master plan I have no extra cost to District if we have a plan with DLR that's a no answer at least in part of this is to build on that plan why wouldn't we start by revisiting the plan at no extra cost to share with them our new goals to see if there is something they can provide at no cost I'm finding this whole conversation extremely frustrating because first of all I thought it was cleared reading it two weeks ago and then it would became apparent that wasn't the people who was presented here I think is a lot clearer and it's exactly or nearly exactly what I asked them to bring back the point is the contract that they're talking about wanting to do is to gather real estate development data it information a very different thing they do they it have you looked at the dealer taping for DLR I'm not saying we just have to go with him they provide a service at no extra cost on the piggybacking on our existing contract that we've never revisit it were saying we want to assess the the properties that we I haven't figure out what we can do with the properties we have some questions I can help you know what let me finish my compass whether it's this group or DLR group or some other group I will be honest getting to this point seems very forced and rushed and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable I would rather go to something that I know we have done before a company we work before rather than force a contract with a company that's now have to go back and Doctor up their contract so that it's exactly as you just stated what you asked for that's what makes me uncomfortable about this is been rushed from job there has not been adequate Community engagement we never did the survey we promise we don't have the trust of the public out of 20 speakers we may have had one or two in the last meeting and this one that said they supported but we're going to force this through before as a four-person board a month before the election and that feels very uncomfortable from the community Gathering the information about available to be done and the conversation keeps coming back over and over and over to Workforce housing that might be considered from the top of the list of the bottom of that list doesn't what this originally started at and what was from what was marketed by members of this board to be a let's gather some information Mission and made it sound like they already knew the answer but I think you would be a real disservice to the students in our district if we threw away what is likely millions of dollars a year on the cases of people keep making it sound like something we don't want furthermore we talked about the amount of money I agree with the statement from a couple of our teachers that it would be good if we knew the amount the contract of public do the amount of the contract more than the day or two before the the meeting that we usually do on contracts my expectation is this contract is going to be on the order of 1/1000 of our annual Buy that is not something that we look at it and say oh this is two huge decision to make with the force dealer has already gotten to know our district intimately and they surveyed and they do this they do mixed-use they do real estate investment assessments they do all of that they already know our district why wouldn't we start with a conversation with them knowing that when we approve that plan in 9th 2019 we never do anything with it after that why would we jump to an organism company that's not even local all the stuff about what they did on the facilities management plan relevant because that was not about look at can we raise money from reusing the land of the district office for 4 a.m. when we set up a contract in the contract we ask this question so how do you know that that is not if our goals change and the contract is about what the district's goals are do we know that that is not an option if we don't even store it I'm not saying it's not an option but I'm saying it's not hard of a facilities master plan that's not what if it's bilities master plan is never revisit it and we've never done anything with it you know it is clear to me that there are members of this board that wants to push this through I've said everything that I have to say I made up my mind about the contract I can put you in a big question to say hey let's get it. it out there's an advanced I think it's legitimate question just say do we really want the people who run in our community in a piece of this 22 be starting with having brought something forward that had all the stuff in it that was not what the contracts sent to do so those to me are legitimate questions I want to hear about that in two weeks that's what this is supposed to be Way We Were you come back with in 2 weeks I would like for the community to know well in advance of two weeks from now what the proposed contract says why we biggish firm to do it and be those are the things we have to base our decision on those are the things people should give us Community yet but I'm really frustrated that we're hearing people again talk about I'm really in favor of Workforce housing where I'm really opposed to because that's not the information that's relevant to this that's information that these folks are supposed to be Gatherings a few months from now so that the board to make a really big decision a year from now about what if anything to do with the ladders I don't know how we can get it from out from behind the 8-ball and having people keep thinking that this is a mother figure decision they were proposed what is commercial that when we bring this back as a contract that we have somehow managed to communicate the actual size of it but where I'm finding it extremely price once again to have people coming in a forcefully arguing again something that's not proposed I think it's I think it's interesting that you're confused about how we got here because it was we are equally clearly what the goal was and now we're being old just forget that we ever said that we're going to go in this other direction and someone mentioned it it feels very shady for lack of a better word it feels like we're forced into something that we're being told is urgent I don't believe millions of dollars on table either I also don't want us to develop find some real estate and then going to the 30-year lease with somebody that we we've already done it twice like I don't want our district to suffer because we don't make you thoughtful decisions but stop the decisions and you said this before I rarely made when we're rushing through a process and I feel like we rushed through this we didn't explore options we didn't revisit the plan. They're now saying we are going to pay this to look at and build on top of it just all seems very out of order to me I saw you being too strong to be to look get out of work construction as a board we haven't made any decisions about this we haven't made any statements about this what the district has stated was not but this is all about the finding Workforce housing showed up in the presentation and a lot of essentially an extraneous stuff in the contract last time and I'm being told that members of the board that we're going around saying this is all about what the receipt Workforce housing was it not we did visit the school to look at the workforce housing and the the market rate development that is right in the same in the same complex and Reporting back was all about the workforce housing and how happy the employees were in the contract was about Workforce housing whether it was going to be a revenue stream or we were just going to use this as a way to support attract and retain staff I asked those questions about the problem is it listed all kinds of stuff they are and in the presentation and I agree that was not a good thing to do trying to rectify that I'm open to the idea that Katie this is a good thing to do but maybe this isn't the right firm I'm open to the idea that we haven't sufficiently communicated with the public or we have been brought all the information or do you have this why we came back and listen to people and still can't invite him this week and the contract two weeks later I'm having problem Wiz statements about how big this is when we just said we reduce the potential scope because the scope last time was 100K plus a bunch of extras and with repeatedly from everybody I'm not cleaning this is making about work is trying to say people are making it about Workforce housing when it presented to us at the work we're talking but we all saw the same presentation and I would feel comfortable if we really started this process because you're asking how are we going to get out of this we're not going to get out of this by continuing to force it as is not even with us a contract with a smaller. I think at this point we have gotten herself to a place where this warrants an RFP this warrants a process where we can if we're talking about Millions what is a month for a couple weeks. show me the subject of the contract I'm talking about dollars relieving on the table with real estate and if we're talking about potential millions that we're leaving on the state on the table with real estate and will we are at this point where we are in direct conflict with our partnership and with many of our staff and we're at a time when we're talking about a morale survey the least we could do is take a step back and say if all you're asking for is a better process and we had a lot of Crustaceans about process and when it doesn't give us the opportunity to gain the trust of our community this is an opportunity to get that right and an RFP is not going to take that long if we know that this is something that's a priority that we want to put very very open to a better process I would really like this is one of those times where I really regret that I'm no longer a part of the partnership discussion that an RFP for a relatively small contract is not a better process but I'm open to that to what I'd like to hear it is that's what we're supposed to meet I'm at its what is I'd like to hear if you're going to bring this back as a proposed contract air it out in advance make sure the public and our partners know what's it's about and how much is four and that we know why we're doing it the way we're doing it if if that comes back as you know we really ought to do an RFP why do we do an RFP on this contract compared to other contract I'm done so far. If it comes back this sperm and want to work with them then I want to hear why did you pick them and why do you want to work with them be needs to be Public Enemy where is the farthest after all of the explanations for that I think it's important to understand that we never had a conversation about entering into a contract for this we have a conversation when contract was pretty much presented to us I think about what a plan is do we do we need to build a science building okay yes we agree we need to Bill the science and now we're going to look at the contract we didn't have this present us with a contract and say hey by the way we want to build the science building we we came to an agreement we never came to an agreement about this weird we never came to the when we never came to an agreement about exploring Workforce housing we never got mad ask some questions we never came to an agreement about exploring streams of Revenue using our properties and when we did have that discussion it was when there was a contract already pretty much presented to us what I'm saying is can we take a step back and establish what our goal is what is our goal if our goal is to explore streams of Revenue then make that what it is and then put out the RFP for a firm's we can either do this for free or at a low cost and then as a board we can decide right where I be able to ask questions, I really appreciate that I have a number of questions that I think would be appropriate coming back into it and I agree that the commenters ask some questions and that they seem very snackable so I'll reiterate those and then I know that we had a conversation what are citizens budget advisory committee on this item so I really hope that we're going to hear a Public Presentation either from the committee or from mistercrainer superintendent Tran about the Box questions comments if they the consensus that they have a recommendation they are an appointed committee for the purpose of recommending so if possible I'd like to come back if staff would figure out the question about DLR and what their scopes of work are I think it's unlikely that our current contract would be able to serve this purpose but none the less whether or not they're even capable of carrying out such a task would be worth following up on worth the price tag I have a couple things that I've looked into based on Publix on man's pent and other you know really a Libra questions I invite really grateful for the community's engagement around us which has been really important a couple of things of concern then you know Vandergriff in a Jenna and I really am eager for us to pursue getting us off our plate finally cuz we've been talking about it and publicly for five years and it would be really fantastic to be able to send it off to a professional so they can come back with something. cream for us and I did take a look at our previous conversations about functioning as a 4 board body four-door member number body so I'll just spoke to the meetings on June 7th and June 14th and June 7th was when we voted not to hold a special election and it. Time we had some limited conversation about what it would mean to function as a board board member body so. short meeting it's less than 50 minutes 50 I encourage people to go back and watch June 7th we were supposed to discuss our proceedings as a former board member party on June 14th it was a very long me including by the first time we heard from Brookwood and we did not get to that item it was also supposed to be a facilitated conversation and that also did not happen but there were really important comments there were no promise there was no consensus and there was no majority if I could determine in terms of what we were committing to in terms of being a Ford or member body and then found the time where we promised survey that we have not delivered on time but I'm here for staff to follow up and see what. Is what is it that we promised or did not and have not delivered on I have not been able to ascertain it and then finally a commenter referred to Stage which is the LAUSD project which holds classifieds and is interest to the community and perhaps we could have a two-sentence blurb about what stage is and what it does and who it serves so the alarm price tag did we promise to serve and not deliberate what is Seabeck what is Sage folks can do the June 7th meeting I really appreciate appreciate it all the questions and I'm looking forward to another conversation do you want to go yeah I think for me again it continues to be and by the way I am a board member who did send emails to do community members because I have been working with community community informed I finded inappropriate that that's now being used against this process I there is in my almost two years of being here I have Christian artist Pete I don't know why we're asking for an RFP for such a small contract in we have a million-dollar contracts all the time without betting the Bender in the way that we are betting the sender and I appreciate my colleagues for wedding the vendor and I also appreciate that are professional experts are asking for us to improve vendor who they believe are the experts in their field so we need to the fur. these are the experts they find to be of importance in this field and for me I want to make it very clear I appreciate board member McBride we mad about this contract and I really appreciate our meeting and in that meeting we discussed at length the master plan and went over very specific details and very clear to me that the master plan is an assessment of what is currently there Antoine it is not an assessment should be there in the future I have looked at only one image that shows one bedroom apartments or studios in the district but that's what you mentioned that it does talk about the future what could be there and that was the only thing that I saw was as far as educational spaces to hold the same it's about what could be here okay but it's what's there and what you can continue to build depending on education of purposes it's not looking at purposes it's just on educational purposes but I don't want to have a dialogue so I think we once agreement and I'm really grateful of our working till McBride is that we are now going to be discussing facilities in the facilities plan as of next meeting that this discussion is a win-win for us we are winning that we will discuss the cities on a ray basis and I would love for you to think about building a bridge on how you can see us discussing potential funding stream what are the things in in in this isn't really a question for I would like for you to think about what are the the things that will make you help you understand so that you can get on board to thinking about diversifying our income stream and only thing that I heard this for us to stop over and I honestly feel like that is that is something we have never asked of any other vendor why are we asking of this Bender like to end by saying please help us right right send an email whatever it is that your process is how what can be on starting over what can you have in it build the bridge to come to this to do this assessment to this agreement I understand you don't have to be 100% committed to do something but there is some place that you could building consensus around I'm not opposed to assessing our properties to see where there I've never said I was okay so happy he is going to cost us so how can we get you there okay it is this process we are forcing this now to become something that it wasn't initially presented us and that trust has clearly been broken with at least one member of this board and several members of our community including several members of our staff and no we don't do our fees for everything that we don't do it for contracts this small but if you know that this is something that can start to rebuild the trust that's already been broken even before discussion because everyone has wax poetic about how much we care about our staff but we're not taking this as an opportunity to say what will we lose and what can we potentially gain by just taking a step back slow this process down and being more thoughtful about it that everyone can explain everyone can articulate what our goal is going forward and then finding an agency that can do that without being forced to now try to press that cuz you said this is not betting this is not letting you ask them when they were here what do other agencies charge for the service that's not wedding. one time or another with partnership with the superintendent's with board members with the community and cetera and it is time to do so again very importantly now because the district is in a position to make sure that Elementary School and sports programs in K through 12 have what they need and I don't want our elementary schools to feel like their parents have to fundraise to sell gaps however I realize fundraising is critically important and this is a very important part of thriving communities and I want us to move forward and have very real conversations about what the models shouldn't shouldn't be able to put in the play I want to make it part of a board I see so we can apply it across the board to all booster clubs all friend razors as opposed to just putting it in the language that's the only reason why we didn't edit this particular one but I have a question about that I did email her question and never really got a response because we were present at once with school connected organizations board policy where we actually had a discussion about limiting ability of parents who connected organization being able to pay for personnel during the school day programs and staff during the school day we never brought that back second reading in approval and now we're proving this with the language that says they can pay for AIDS and programs instructional support and I think we're setting ourselves up to send conflicting messages to go connected organizations I requested at that time and it didn't happen for us to revisit that policy before we approve this policy so I would just like an explanation of where we are now because if not Hollow just come back and we include the language that I think we pretty much had a consensus so we're close to having a consensus about I don't I don't know what the most we asked to bring this policy back revised but our board policies would always overrule and by-laws of a booster club so whatever we put into play in a board policy is going to be the guiding rules yes to the district right so is somebody can't come around getting paid for this if the board doesn't want to take those things don't come all the way to the board sometimes they're done right at the site they have to come to the district plus a separate issue writing should be solved I'm not I'm not going to vote against the booster club forming I just really wish you would have followed up on that discussion when I asked that song. I need any further discussion anybody waiting to become until later yes that's a long meetings and it needed to be done. speaking as one of the co-presidents of the H and con booster club we work very closely with Dr Hajj and put in the time to look at PTA which is a wonderful organization that does amazing things on Auburn Cod but there are based on Capital limitations on what ptas able to do and support and I've had many conversations with superintendent ran about what is appropriate for the booster club to fundraise and a tart dedicated to the supplementing and not supplanting and it was a group of parents that have worked really hard over the past couple years to dissolve a previous booster club. Had some issues that no longer exist in the Isaac California the IRS we created this from scratch creating new bylaws new incorporation had IRS approval in February 2022 in four months of being approved we received more than 125 unique gifts from El Rincon parents totally over $25,000 so there isn't interested apparent Community to invest in help our school we also know that grows UCF is important we've been working and meeting with Wendy Hamill and Wendy address I need to help make sure that this booster club can be an introduction for it to Growing district-wide fundraising we know that not everyone will say sissy another district-wide opportunity is right for them but it is an opportunity to get seeds grow and educate our community about giving philanthropic Lee and investing and we also want to make it accessible to as many people as far as as I mentioned 125 gifts ever gets between $7 and $3,000 from these families and we we want our board as well to represent the diversity of our community so ask you to move the booster club forward and know that we are bought into moving Ellen trying to make it the best I can but also the larger vision of what ccusd can be as well thank you okay one more speaker Salome and is it forget Reeves and I just want to add to it as a member of the booster board that is a very very simple Vision it's to leave it better than we found it that's been the goal that's been the efforts and we Jews are very excited to continue so if we can move this forward it would be greyfriars school and then we can talk about the goals later down the road thank you I wanted to stay because I know many of the people that are on this.
