Volunteers
“The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size,
but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”
-DeAnn Hollis
Thank you for your interest in volunteering within the Culver City Unified School District. We invite parents to be actively involved in our schools and believe volunteers are an asset in supporting students. We believe that our volunteers are a valuable asset and that each of you directly contributes to our continued success.
We care about the safety of our students and staff, so all volunteers must apply and be approved before they can begin to volunteer at a school site. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at a school site, please read over the Volunteer Handbook and fill out the necessary forms. Please return the completed forms to your child’s school office.
The school site will collect a copy of your Identification and TB Test, if necessary. This procedure must be followed for every volunteer.
School personnel use the California Department of Justice (DOJ) database website to check a volunteer’s status as a registered sex offender. The only acceptable result is “Your search returned no results.”
A school principal must authorize the volunteer. Under California law, a principal may not authorize a person to volunteer if the person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony or if they are a registered sex offender.
Thank you for your support!

Volunteer packets must be completed in their entirety along with the TB Risk Assessment or recent TB test and returned to your child's school Site Secretary for processing. Once the completed packet is turned in, you will be given a livescan form for your DOJ and FBI background check.
Please note that you are not cleared to volunteer until your livescan results come back.
Thank you.
